Gail Nohr

Remembering Vietnam

March 27, 2025

We continue our special program honoring the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War (March 29th). Gail and Kim Nohr with Veterans 1st of Northeast Wisconsin join Jim and John to give us an update on the tiny home village they're trying to build to help housing insecure veterans have a stable start toward owning or renting their own housing. They share the good news that, hopefully, after several hurdles, they're getting closer to breaking ground on this project. We offer our respect and thanks to Kim and Gail for their hard work on this very important project. Then, Joe Aulik from the Brown County Veterans Services office joins the show to encourage Veterans to do a yearly check-in with the local offices to see what services and offerings are available. From health care to education funds and more, Joe says it's important to do a yearly check-in because programs continue to change and, in some cases, expand.

Veterans 1st & Coach Blanks (Hour 2)

August 13, 2024

We get an update from the wonderful folks at Veterans 1st N.E.W. who have begun their project of building a small home village for homeless veterans. They are rolling forward with their plans, and stop by with an update. Right now now they've gone through all the hoops with the city and county. Kim & Gail Nohr are great stewards of this project. Then DeVante Blanks joins as the new Head Coach for the Ashwaubenon Boys Basketball team. He talks a bit about how basketball took him off the streets in Chicago "it was a way to get away from what was going on in the streets and at home". His other focus is working with young people in our community with Reflections Community Service Program. "I wanna be a supporter and a resource for these guys, on and off the court".

Cottage Court & Home Inspections (Hour 2)

June 12, 2024

Our good friends Kim & Gail Nohr with Veterans 1st join us with good news about their Cottage Court Veterans tiny home village they're building in the area. Things were touch and go for a bit, so this is a big celebration! We're happy to be a part of it in any way we can. Chad Buntin also joins to talk about the actual construction project and what it will take. Get more details on how you can get involved by clicking HERE. We also get a surprise call from some old radio friends who hit the airwaves this week. (Otis, Katie & Nick). In the Moving With The Malcores segment, Andy Basten joins to talk about home inspections: the importance of them, and some of things home seller and buyers can look for when they do their own walk-throughs.

Happy BDay, Jim! (Hour 1)

June 7, 2024

It's Jim's birthday, so we're celebrating with a bunch of special surprises for him. The meanderings start with talk of deadly spiders, snakehead fish, and loads of other odd stuff. Maino tries singing a little Tom Jones for Jim...not a good idea at 6:20am. Then Gail Nohr from Veterans 1st and Karen Stoeher join to talk about a great event coming up on June 15th. Fun for the entire family, and raising money to help build the tiny homes for the homeless veterans. John will be the emcee for the event and Bill Jartz from WBAY-TV will be the auctioneer. For more details on the event, just click HERE. Then they guys both determine they would have loved to be Tina Turner.
