The Big Brutal Bill Breakdown

May 28, 2025

Maggie exposes the stark consequences of a controversial House bill proposing deep cuts to SNAP benefits—cuts that could strip school lunches from over 18 million children and worsen hunger nationwide. Joined by Bobby Kogan of the Center for American Progress, they unpack how this legislation offloads costs onto states like Wisconsin, burdens taxpayers, and disguises harm under the banner of "fraud prevention." Plus, Dr. Kristin Lyerly and Laura Benjamin (3rd Congressional District candidate) urge a call to action—urging all of us to fight back against policies that favor the wealthy at the expense of working families.

Tax Turmoil and Beaver Blockbuster

April 14, 2025

Pat Kreitlow fills in for Maggie today who is feeling a little under the weather. Pat dives into the fiscal chaos as Congress grapples with the expiring 2017 Trump tax cuts, which favored the wealthy and ballooned the deficit. Bobby Kogan from the Center for American Progress breaks down the GOP's plans for massive cuts to food aid and Medicaid, revealing the harsh reality behind political rhetoric about waste and fraud. On a lighter note, Pat also chats with Kurt Ravenwood, producer of 'Hundreds of Beavers,' a slapstick silent film defying Hollywood's norms and charming audiences worldwide with its indie spirit and comedic nostalgia.

The Reconciliation Process (Hour 2)

January 13, 2025

Every Monday Maggie is joined by a special guest from the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Today we talk with Bobby Kogan, Senior Director of Federal Budget Policy, to discuss the upcoming budget reconciliation process, its significance, and how Republicans will try to change major policies through reconciliation, largely focused on tax cuts for the ultra wealthy and corporations. Bobby, known for simplifying complex topics, has held key economic policy roles in the Biden-Harris administration and worked with the Senate Budget Committee and Senators Patty Murray and Bernie Sanders.

Maggie is then joined by Dom Salvia for "In Case You Missed It," continuing the discussion about Donald Trump's historic sentencing today for fraud in New York, especially Trump's attorney's statement that there should never be any politically motivated prosecutions - you don't say, Todd. Maggie calls Judge Merchan a genius and Dom agrees. Find out why and tune in!
