Fighting for a Fair Wisconsin

April 29, 2025

In hour two John and Gordy cover a variety of stories on everything from RFK's hot (and cruel) takes on autism, to 60 Minutes losing some of their journalistic independence, indirectly because of Trump, and Paramount. After checking in with our WMDX Meteorologist Brittney Merlot for a look at today's weather, we welcome on Abigail Swetz, Executive Director of Fair Wisconsin - the state's only LGBTQ+ advocacy group. After chatting with her about how identities are being used as weapons, and what they're doing to fight it, we close the show with a clip from SNL. Its their new news show, "Check to Check," an economics update for the rest of us, those living paycheck to paycheck.

The John and Gordy Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 6-8 am on WMDX in Madison. Rockets and Faux Feminism

April 16, 2025

Halfway through another week! Maggie begins today's show by critiquing Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin 'all-female' spaceflight as a shallow marketing ploy exploiting feminism and DEI for profit. The mission, featuring celebrities like Gayle King and Katy Perry, lacked genuine STEM representation and overshadowed true pioneers like Aisha Bowe. Maggie also points out the absurdity of corporate feminist facades and the need for authentic empowerment. Plus, Abigail Swetz, Executive Director of Fair Wisconsin, highlights advocacy for transgender rights and the crucial role of allies. Abigail addresses broader systemic issues like Trump's executive overreach, economic policies, and the importance of upholding civil rights, especially for the LGBTQIA community.
