Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation have announced nearly $370 million in funding for road and improvement projects across the state.
According to a press release, the funding through the Surface Transportation Program and the Local Bridge Improvement Assistance Program will go toward 195 projects across Wisconsin.
The programs seek to provide local municipalities with the funding needed to rehabilitate and replace the most seriously deficient, eligible local road structures
Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary Christina Boardman says the projects will help improve safety and modernize transportation infrastructure in communities across the state.
According to the department, more than 9,600 miles of roads in 2,400 bridges have been improved across Wisconsin since 2019.
The latest round of funding will cover projects planned between federal fiscal years 2027 and 2031.
The Shawamagan Bay Walk to End Alzheimer's returns to Ashland this Sunday with an Olympic champion joining the community for this year's walk.
According to the Ashland Daily Press, five-time Olympic gold medalist Bonnie Blair is expected to take part.
Blair has been involved with the Alzheimer's Association for more than 20 years after her mother was diagnosed with the disease in 2001 and later died in 2004.
The walk raises money for Alzheimer's care, support, and research while giving families a
chance to walk in honor or memory of someone affected by the disease.
According to the Alzheimer's Association, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's.
Sunday's event will be held at Central Rail Yard Park in Ashland.
It starts at 9 a.m.
with a promise garden ceremony at 9.40 and the walk getting underway at 10.
Participants can register online through the Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's website.

While many of us do, there will be three constitutional amendments for Wisconsin voters to consider on the November 3rd ballots.
That's the most of any election since 1995, and voters often complain the wording in ballot referendum questions can be confusing.
Voting advocates are urging Wisconsin voters to do their homework before they go to the polls, as the amendment process is difficult to reverse.
Once a constitutional amendment is approved by voters, it takes effect immediately.
The first question is about limiting the govern-
It would stop the governor from using a partial veto to create or increase taxes or fees.
This got on the ballot primarily because of Governor Evers' 400-year veto, a way to bypass the Republican-controlled legislature to secure long-term funding for public schools.
Conservatives argued it would lead to property tax hikes.
The Supreme Court upheld Evers' veto.
If passed, the amendment would apply to all future governors, regardless of party.
Question 2 would ban state and local governments from ordering churches and other places of worship to close during a state of emergency.
That happened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last amendment question would ban affirmative action.
It's asking whether voters want to permanently block diversity, equity, and inclusion policies across public institutions in Wisconsin.
Bear Boo Police have a suspect in custody for an armed robbery that happened on Tuesday.
Police say the suspect went into a business, approached the counter, and displayed a knife, demanding money from the owner.
The suspect got away with some cash and fled the scene on a bike.
Police found the suspect and took him into custody.
Four Wisconsin quick trip locations are having professional pest control treatments after bed bugs were discovered in their restrooms.
According to a company representative, all four stores are in Wausau,
Quick-Trip officials say a visiting guest brought the pests into the stores and emphasized the incident is isolated to the restroom areas.
They say there's no health or food safety risk associated with the issue.
As thousands flock to Lambeau Field today for the Packers' home opener tonight, team officials are warning fans to beware of fake jerseys and counterfeit merchandise.
The team says scammers often target fans through online sales and unauthorized sellers.
The products are often of lower quality and don't meet NFL licensing standards.
