The Winter School District in Sawyer County says it could eventually face dissolution if voters reject a funding referendum next week.

The district is asking for an additional $1.5 million a year for four years, beginning with the 2027-2028 school year.

The Winter School District says it's projecting a budget deficit of about $830,000 for the current school year.

They say the additional funding would help cover staffing, curriculum, school safety, building maintenance, and other operating expenses.

If the referendum fails, the district says it could have to cut staff and programs, consider consolidating with a neighboring district, or eventually dissolve.

If approved, the district estimates property taxes would increase by about $162 a year for every $100,000 of property value.

The referendum will be on the November 3rd ballot.

You can learn more on the Winter School District website.

Governor Tony Evers has declared today One Our Way Day across Wisconsin to celebrate Milwaukee's first World Series championship.

The name puts a new twist on the team's motto, Win Our Way.

The Brewers won a team record 103 games during the regular season before taking the title.

Evers congratulated the players, manager Pat Murphy and his coaches.

A parade and rally takes place today.

Fans barely had time to swap out their blue and gold gear for green and gold when the World Series trophy made a surprise appearance at Lambeau Field last night.

The 2026 World Champion Brewers walked out the players' tunnel at the end of the first quarter to the roar of the crowd, raising the commissioner's trophy high in the air.

A few of the brew crew even doing their own Lambeau leaps into the crowd before kicking back in the sweet seats to watch the back win their own way over the Carolina Panthers.

Just five days before our midterm elections, Republican candidate for Governor Tom Tiffany took advantage of the Lambeau Field Home Crowd to do some campaigning among tailgaters.

Democrat David Crowley wasn't scheduled to visit Lambeau last night, but he was in the Deer District the night before celebrating with Brewer's fans.

Three finalists for the president of the universities of Wisconsin are presenting their visions for the state's higher education system in Madison.

The candidates include high-ranking leaders from the university systems in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.

Each finalist addressed public forums this week, outlining strategies focused on economic growth, future opportunities, and building on existing institutional strengths.

The Board of Regents will select the next president to oversee the system's 13 campus chancellors.

Authorities say a convicted murderer who escaped prison down in Tennessee may be connected to a Wisconsin bank robbery earlier this week.

Dean County officers say a man with a gun robbed the Bank of Deerfield just before it closed Tuesday evening.

They say the gunman restrained two people and left with cash.

No one was hurt.

The gunman stole the Lincoln MKZ from the parking lot to get away.

Police found the car later, but no one was inside.

Jacob Morley was serving a life sentence for a 2022 murder in a Tennessee prison.

Authorities say he escaped last Monday, stealing a Ford F-150 to get away.

The truck was found abandoned early Tuesday in...

Illinois.

A rogue drone over Lambeau Field paused the action last night in the third quarter of the Packers game against the Carolina Panthers.

Both teams were ordered back to their respective locker rooms briefly before the Packers resumed their drive, scoring a touchdown in the first play back.

The next roar of the crowd was for Christian Watson running back out onto the field after a quick round-trip ambulance ride to a local ER to get checked out for a chest injury.

Top it all off with a few racing sausages in the stands and you have what they like to call Thursday Night Football in Green Bay.

Oh, and the Packers won 27-19.

Of course, those sausages escorted the 2026 World Champion Milwaukee Brewers to a Lambeau Field appearance on the eve of

One Our Way Day Today.

That's the declaration by Governor Tony Evers.

A nod to the Brewer's motto, Win Our Way, in celebration of the team's first World Series title.

Milwaukee finished the regular season with 103 wins and its fourth straight division title.

The team then returned to the World Series for the first time in 44 years and won it all.

A parade and rally takes place today.

And that's your state news update.

A wild night for Watson.

Hi, I'm Mike Clemens with sports from Lambeau Field where the Packers beat the Carolina Panthers 27 to 19 on Thursday night football.

Packers wide receiver Christian Watson had just caught a 53 yard bomb from Jordan Love when he hopped up, ran to the tunnel and was taken to a hospital for tests.

I

think I just came down on the ball or my elbow or something and I couldn't breathe on the field.

I was you know, got the wind knocked out of me, spitting up some blood or something like that.

So the doctors said I had to go get a CT.

trying to beg them to not make me do that, but everything looked good.

You know, just had got a rib.

That's all.

But everything, all the other stuff, the major stuff was all good.

No internal bleeding or anything like that.

So I was able to get back out there.

But yeah, that was an experience for sure.

No doubt.

Watson came back from the hospital, finished the night with eight catches for 113 yards.

The Packers defense held the Panthers' potent offense at just a pair of touchdowns.

Javon Bullard.

Can begin this thing right at the right time.

Defenses clicking, offenses clicking.

With sports on Mike Clemens.
