enough to track a cat in some places over the weekend, enough to bury a cat for some of our listeners down in Waukesha, Milwaukee, in particular, Racine and Kenosha.
Our weather forecaster Corey Hartman said that it was just a little bit of a wind wiggle or the little tracking made all the difference in this big lake effect snow in southeast Wisconsin.
So some folks are still digging out.

who are named in efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund v. Gerald, which was lost on Lake Superior, 29 souls lost their lives.
And coming up at 335, Superior Wisconsin native and former secretary of commerce under Tommy Thompson, Bill McCoshin, will be here to offer his remembrances along with Jenny Van Sickle.
Who is with friends of the Eminus Gerald on their new historical marker on this 50th anniversary of the wreck and yes, we will hear from Don McAleen Pardon me Gordon light cord light foot.
I got my my artists a mix of Gordon light foot in hour number two as well But first let's get right to the news headlines at this hour nine minutes past the hour of two o'clock according to the hill
Yes, eight members of the Senate Democratic Caucus voted yesterday evening to proceed to a House pass continuing resolution, taking a major step toward ending the 40-day federal government shutdown.
The Senate voted 60 to 40 to advance the House bill, which will serve as the legislative vehicle for a bipartisan deal to fund military construction, veterans affairs, the Department of Agriculture, and the legislative branch through September 30th.
of 2026.
It funds the rest of the government only through January 30th of next year.
It sets the stage for the House to return to Washington later this week to vote on a bill in hopes of getting to President Trump's desk for his signature.
There were eight Democrats who voted for this.
Lots of controversy.
Might get into more of this tomorrow or later in the show if we have time.
I was looking at U.S.
Congressman Mark Pulkhan's
Timeline on his Twitter feed and the Democrats are at each other's throats because the progressives in the Democratic caucus in Congress very upset that Chuck Schumer lots of Democrats today calling for a Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer's political head political Saying that he should be taken out as the Democratic leader in the Senate because here's the deal This deal that these eight Democrats voted for last night
is essentially the same deal that Senate Republican leader John Thune offered them weeks ago.
And they said no to.
And I believe admirably because they were saying, no, the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, the funding, the tax credits are running out.
And if we don't fix this, millions of Americans are going to have unaffordable health care, and millions of Americans, at least thousands of Americans, will die.
And so they said, we're not going to agree to a continuing resolution until we fix this.
And they had the seven, eight million people show up for the No Kings rally.
You had historic wins on last Tuesday for Democrats at the polls.
And then Chuck Schumer and these eight Democrats decided to fold last night.
I just, I get that it's a Kobayashi Maru to use the Star Trek phrase.
It's a no wins scenario in some ways.
because these eight Democrats are basically saying, look, do you really want all these millions of kids not to get fed and poorer folks on Snap, food share benefits, to not get what they need?
Do you want people not be able to get home for Thanksgiving?
Federal workers not getting paid?
And so basically they, my word, sold out for a promise from Republican leader John Thune,
for a vote on extending the tax credits for Obamacare next month.
Nothing is promised by the leader in the House representatives, Mike Johnson.
So more to come on this, the Democrats voting in favor of this last night, John Federman of Pennsylvania, Angus King, independent of Maine, Catherine Cortez, Masto of Nevada, Senator Jackie Rosen, Democrat of Nevada.
Senator Dick Durbin Democrat of Illinois Gene Shaheen as Matt Flynn likes to say Democrat of New Hampshire and Senator Maggie Hassan Democrat of New Hampshire We will see and by the way, none of these people are up next year as Danny Carvey says how convenient from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Judge temporarily blocks the Trump order to undo food share resumption in Wisconsin.
Reporting, Molly Beck of federal court has temporarily blocked a directive from the Trump administration to undo work by the Evers administration to provide benefits to recipients of public food assistance during the federal government shutdown.
Here's the bottom line on this.
The courts last week on Friday,
Said that Trump has to pay all of the food share benefits.
That's what is called Wisconsin and Governor Evers Democrats smartly immediately Funded through the cards all the recipients of Wisconsin and then the courts came back the Supreme Court and said no no no You can't do that and now the federal government the Trump administration is threatening the states that did what Evers did if they don't undo it Governor Evers had a great response
One word on social media.
No.
I thought that was fantastic.
So keep going Governor Evers.
We will see once again, to me, the cruelty seems to be the point of it all.
And now for a Supreme Court update.
That's right.
The Supreme Court has stopped in the name of love.
The Supreme is today the court, not the group.
Turn down a request that it consider overturning its landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage a decade ago.
The court, without comment, declined the petition.
filed by Kim Davis, a former Kentucky county clerk who gained national attention in 2015 when she defied a court order refused to issue a same-sex license because of her religious beliefs.
She asked the Supreme Court to reverse an order that required her to pay more than $300,000 to a couple denied a marriage license and to overturn the same-sex marriage ruling of 2015.
At least four of the nine justices
would have needed to vote to hear Ms.
Davis's case and revisit the marriage precedent.
A major step that many legal experts had said they were not expecting the court to take.
So the Supreme Court says, no, we're not going to take up and reverse the Oberfeld decision.
So same sex, sex marriage, marriage equality is still the law of the land.
That is good news for many of us.
The bad news is Todd has nobody to marry.
So let me let me for everybody else.
I think that's fantastic.
I think that's fantastic On the not so great news in my opinion the Supreme Court agreed today To decide whether states may count mail-in ballots Received after election day taking up a Republican led lawsuit that could keyword could affect election laws and more than a dozen states across the country
It is the latest of several high-profile voting cases to make it on the Supreme Court's docket this year, as the justices are asked to deal with controversies dating back over the past several elections.
15 states allow regular mail-in ballots to be accepted after Election Day, including Presidential Battleground Nevada.
Most of the nation's battleground states, including Wisconsin, Michigan,
and Pennsylvania require ballots to be received before election day.
Other states accept military ballots after election day.
So we shall see on that one.
So again, as far as affecting Wisconsin directly, not so much, but it could, keyword could have an effect on results or ballots that can or can't be counted in other states.
I just believe that
our military folks who wear the uniform, our men and women who are stationed overseas, those in embassies, foreign service officers, should be allowed to vote.
And you know what, if for whatever reason their ballots come in a day or two after the election, I believe they should still be counted and still vote.
Yes, exactly right.
And so,
I just, I hope that as this thing goes forward, the Supreme Court will take into consider people's constitutional rights to vote.
That's the main thing I'm looking at.
And oh, by the way, here in the state of Wisconsin, lots going on as well.
Our own Shalik Pittman, news director, Dan Schaefer, political editor, are all over that.
And watching lots going on, one of the things being talked about at the state Capitol this week, a consolidation.
of some public school districts and how that's all done.
Remember, for a lot of rural school districts, their identity revolves, or communities, their identity revolves around those Wisconsin public schools.
So we'll be following that as well.

mostly cloudy skies doesn't look like we'll have some snow I know we got hit with snow in parts of the state last night some lake effect but other than that it'll be a chilly game at Lambo tonight for first

I'm sure he'll be getting lubricated in the parking lot before they come in to keep themselves warm.
So it should be a Marcus Monday night football game.

And, you know, by, I think one of the best play-by-play teams, especially, you know, with Wayne Laravy at the helm.
I mean, you know, I see him being used on NFL films all the time.

You had a great interview this week.
I know there was a tragedy at the Dallas Cowboys headquarters.
One of their players died by apparent suicide after a chase.
His teammate, Mike and Parsons, of course, now, former teammate, now plays for the Green Bay Packers.
And you had a chance to catch up with Mike and Parsons, Mike.
Yeah, and you see, you know what?
First, I saw that story break.
Oh, there's a 24-year-old player that took his old life after a police chase down in Dallas, nothing.
OK.
And then, you know what?
I stopped.
Wait
a
minute, and you know I heard you talking about use good putting AI to good use I put in a couple of words.
It's like wait a minute hand to forehead First of all the Packers interviewed that player.
His name was Marshawn Nealon a Grand Rapids played for Western Michigan They interviewed him before the draft his mom passes away just before the draft and Yet he gets ready for the draft gets through gets drafted by the Cowboys and he was going to sort of be the arrow parent added as a defensive end of Micah Parsons
who, you know, called him like his little brother.
So, Micah will be playing with that kid's, you know, with a heavy heart with that kid on his mind.
Micah's got a bit of a pectoral injury and a bill of an illness, but he's listed as, I think, questionable for tonight's game.
He'll play.
But we asked him about facing, how important this game is, facing the defending champions, the Eagles, at Lambeau Field on Monday Night Football.
It's like a respect thing.
You kind of know, like,
You should be taking us serious.
We're earning this on the field and we don't care who you are, what you've done.
We're trying to earn them stripes.
We're trying to take them stripes.
We're trying to get to where you're going and that's what makes this league so competitive.
We get those teams that go to the NFC Championship, Super Bowl.
We all got them dreams and aspirations to do that.
When you come that next year and you're on the top of the mountain,
It's like, how do you stay there?
Because everyone's coming for it.
And we're coming for the top of the mountain.
They're coming to Lambo to show them why they're on top of the mountain.
And we're showing them why we're climbing the mountain.
So it's going to be a respectful game.
It's going to be a very respectful and disrespectful game.
It's going to be a dog fight.
Micah Parsons, what an addition to the Green Bay Packers with Dallas Cowboys last year.
Mike Clemens, our sports reporter, is on the phone right now from Lambo Field.
Micah, I also had a chance to catch up with Matt LaFleur, head coach of the Packers this week as well.
Because when the Packers lost to the Eagles in Philadelphia in the playoffs last year,
one of
the issues was when Elton Jenkins went down with a shoulder injury, they weren't the same for the rest of the game.
So the offensive line has to have a great game.
Now, Matt LaFleur continues to rotate like the right guard.
This year it's, you know, Sean Ryan in for second year man, Jordan Morgan.
And I asked LaFleur, why do you do that?
An offensive line if you're healthy.
Why do you rotate guards?
I can think of two or three different reasons why but and how common is that?
How about player development or competition or like defensive line keeping guys fresh?
Which what's the main reason you do
that?
All three of those.
I mean you knew the answer.
You answered your own question.
Do you need some do you need you want to come work with us?
All right, I like where your head's at, Mike.
But
it's
not common,
right?
No, it's not.
It's something that I do recall doing back when I first got into the league in Houston.
We had a situation like that where we'd rotate guards.
And I do think, you mentioned it, the D-line is a position typically where there is more rotation.
And you're always getting a fresh body thrown at you.
So when you feel good about multiple people,
Of course, you want to keep them playing, keep them engaged, keep them a part of everything, and keep developing them.
So I think that's kind of where we're at.
So some of you saw in Houston.

Head coach of the Green Bay Packers, Matt LaFleur, and the undercard there, the headline that was buried.
Our own Mike Clemens sports reporter on the phone has been offered a position by the Green Bay Packers by the head coach.

By the way, Matthew Golden, the first round pick at Wide Receiver, he missed practice on Friday and Saturday.
I saw him during warm-ups, but he's had this shoulder injury that's been bothering him.
He's listed as questionable for tonight's game.

Like I, I, I mean, we got, I was up in Richelon Center for part of the weekend or large part.
And now, now have you ever heard this?
Cause I got a lot of heat last week.
Speaking of heat, I used the phrase, enough snow to track a cat.
You ever heard that?
I
have not.
I mean, I understand- I haven't.
I understand- You're not the only one blaming me.
I understand paw prints in snow.
I know.
But I have not heard that particular sentence.
I don't
know where I'm guessing.
My grandmother was just, I mean, I mean, it was from the Richland County O'Cooch Mountain Hill talk.
I don't know.
But that was- I grew up
with
that.
Like,
you know- The idea
was of Richland City.
Right.
You've been out
there, Jane.

have.
Yeah,
I have a beautiful part of this too.
It is.
And we were out there this weekend hanging out with mom, helping to get some things ready for winter.
And some of the trees still have their leaves and are like, you know, there's like one every so often where it just sticks out like a flame.
And then that snow, it was absolutely beautiful.
We drove up to Varroqua where you and I have driven through and
it was
magical.
So
I bet I bet it was beautiful.
We have such a beautiful state.
We should celebrate it in some way every day.

I
was tuning in this morning to Matt and air on air as I often do.
And one of the great things about your program, the many great things is not only do you and Greg make me laugh oftentimes, but you bring really great information.
And I thought that today's segment.
that you had on Medicaid was one of the best that I've heard in a long time because it was so helpful as I'm dealing with my own parents who are past retirement.
But tell us a little bit about your guests on this subject.

Ingrid Kundinger is on the senior patrol and she works for Wisconsin Department of Resources for Aging.
And so she joined us this morning just to explain the difference between regular Medicare, which when you turn 65, you get to sign up for regular Medicare.
What is the difference between Medicare and Medicare Advantage?
And one of the reasons we had her on, a good friend of mine is 87.
And I talked to him the other day and he said, I had 20 phone calls the other
day,
all related to Medicare Advantage.
So I think there's a lot of confusion because Medicare Advantage sounds like it is a government program and it's not.
And there are things you can get
You know, Todd, healthcare is so complicated, which apparently is why no one wants to fix it, but that's another discussion.
But it really is very, very complicated.
And I would highly suggest that you go back and listen to her.
She joined us in hour number two.
So right after 10 o'clock, go to civicmedia.us.
go to shows, go to matinee on air, look for hour number two today with Ingrid and we spend a good half an hour talking about the differences and what happens if you don't take Medicare and where does Medicare come out of and there's a lot of working pieces and unfortunately too Ingrid was only able to answer so much and if you need more questions answered
you're either gonna have to, you're gonna have to call Social Security.
And right now, that's a very, very slow process.
It is indeed.
And even I couldn't even prevent myself from messing it up as I set it up for you, because I was the dope that just called it Medicaid.
And of course, that's something different.
Something else.
This is Medicare.
And what I got out of the, one of the biggest things I got out of the segment this morning, Jane, was your guest setting this up and saying,
Look, if you, just because you have Medicare, doesn't mean that some of your prescriptions, your hearing aids, your hearing tests, your dental, your vision are covered.
And I think a lot of us, I mean, I'm 56, hopefully I got a few years before I have to retire, but it's never too soon to start thinking about this, as you guys pointed out this morning.
If you're 64,
you better get on it now.
certainly start looking at it more closely and what kind of coverage you need.
The one thing I didn't ask Ingrid this morning because it's not really her purview, but I find it remarkable that when we're talking about healthcare, we don't consider your eyes or your teeth as part of your health.
That makes no sense whatsoever at all.
None.
It just doesn't make any sense.
It's super
close.
Good.
It is.
It's extraordinarily frustrating.
And one almost feels like it was designed to be very confusing.
So people just throw up their hands and go, I give up.
I'm not going to sign up for anything.
I don't know what to do.
But take the time.
It is absolutely worth it.
And again, if you're a citizen and you've been paying taxes all this time and you get to sign up for Medicare, but don't forget, like you said,
prescriptions won't be covered vision won't be covered most likely your dental won't be covered you'll have to get additional uh plant you
know
there's part c part d all those things and as far as the prescriptions go Todd and I can speak to this personally one of my brothers got very very sick out of nowhere two years ago uh with a very serious heart condition and
He did not have a part B. He didn't have anything for his meds.
And when he was released from the hospital, it was $16,000.
Just for medications.
Just for medications.
So yes, you're healthy today.
Hopefully you will be tomorrow.
But don't, don't, don't put it off.
They want you to put it off.
Don't put it off.
Yeah.
As somebody who's worked as a pharmacy tech, I can tell you that Jane's story is not uncommon.
So.
Do yourself a favor as soon as you can, if you're approaching that age or at that age, to try and get that stuff figured out.
And if you need help, find a trusted family member or friend who can help you sort through it, because it's a lot.
It is.
It's overwhelming.
It is.
It's so kind.

And the other thing that Ingrid pointed out is with a lot of the Medicare Advantage plans, and especially if you get it in the mail, there's really teeny, tiny fine print at the very bottom that none of us read.
That's where they get to have all the exclusions for all the things they don't cover.
So get a magnifying glass and a big glass of wine.
And, and just take some time when you, when you look at these things.

We've traveled the state together in a, in a Dodge Ram truck, which I, she's anti-truckite.
That is

If I were Trump, I'd say you're fake news and you're being obnoxious.
I'm not going to talk to you.
I did slur trucks this morning related to driving in snow.
Some are irresponsible and I'll admit that.
Some are terrible and again, think the laws of physics.
do not apply to them because they're in a big truck and I hate to be the one to tell you they do.
As the owner of a
four-wheel drive truck, it does help you move forward in snow, but it doesn't help you stop.
Right.
I have a Subaru Forester.
This is my fourth Subaru.
I love those cars.
I can get through anything.
I'm going to slide just as fast as the guy next to me and end up in the ditch.
Forward motion is one thing.
Stopping is a whole other thing.
I agree with you on that.

Jane from Molly Beck over the Milwaukee Journal sent no president.
Donald Trump has pardoned a handful of Wisconsin Republicans who participated in a scheme he created to try to overturn his 2020 election loss.
Let me say that again.
2020 election loss.
Trump pardoned most Republicans who signed paperwork falsely claiming to be electors for Trump when former president Joe Biden, a Democrat,
was elected in Wisconsin instead.
He also included two attorneys with Wisconsin ties who are alleged to be the architects of the plan.
The list posted by Trump pardoned attorney late Sunday night.
The attorney's late Sunday night included Carol Brunner or Brunner, Mary Buston, Darrell Carlson, Andrew Hitt.
from Richland Center.
He used to go to church with him.
Kelly Ru, Bob Spindel, and Pam Davis.
They also pardoned Kenneth Chesbro and Jim Trupas.
Jane?
Yep.
Well, if you crime on behalf of Donald, or you pay him a couple million dollars for, you know, his whatever fund, you get pardoned.
and you get away with it.
If you try to pursue crimes going on in this administration, you will be prosecuted.
That's what I, that Pat and I talked about that briefly this morning.
I don't think this should be any surprise.
I think this is a continuation of the attempt to rewrite history because I'm telling you by the time he, if and when he leaves that office, he will have won the 2020 election.
Well, he'll claim that certainly.
I'm telling you, this is all part of the effort to erase what happened on January 6th and the fact that he lost and it was proved repeatedly in court that he lost.
Over the weekend at Mar-a-Lago, where he was during the shutdown gulping, by the way, someone reported on social media that they were running a loop about how he actually won the 2020 election.
So that's not going away.
That narrative is not going to go away.
The man cannot accept he lost.
Also going around social media this weekend, and I'm sure you'll remember this.
I think it was in his first term, Trump's, that he told Leslie Stahl, longtime correspondent for 60 minutes, that he intentionally lies and exaggerates and attacks the media so that people will never believe what you say.
Like, that's all intentional.

Anyone else in office, although again, I assume this is why his supporters love him so, to respond to a reasonable question from a reporter and say, you're obnoxious.

well and I just want to say while we're speaking of some of Donald Trump's pardons yet another January 6th there John Emanuel Benuelos 40
was arrested last month on kidnapping and sexual assault charges.
All, a whole bunch of these January Sixters that got pardoned have gone on to do really heinous things.
It's a good thing he looks at those pardons so closely.

You might see more coyotes in Milwaukee area.
Here is why.
Now listen, now you live in Milwaukee.
I have been to your beautiful home there north side of Milwaukee and they're saying now there's something called the Milwaukee County coyote watch I did not know this existed a project run by Milwaukee County Parks in collaboration with the Wisconsin DNR it says sightings in Milwaukee tend to increase between November and March
Jessica Canart, or Canart at Milwaukee Wildlife Education biologist with the DNR says one reason is that foliage where coyotes like to conceal themselves becomes sparse this time of year as trees... No
place to hide.
No place, no blur to hunt, run to, no where to hide.
Food sources like vegetation and rodents are less bountiful in colder months causing many coyotes to venture out of their usual paths to find food.
Are you seeing more coyotes down there?
I have not seen more coyotes, but I mean, we're pretty close to a parkway, and I would think anywhere where there's water, you know, if you're near a river, you're near a parkway, one of the many parks and parkways that Milwaukee has, you're gonna see more wildlife there.
So that doesn't surprise me.
A couple of years ago when I was coming home, I saw a fox.
This was when I had like noon.
crossing four lanes of traffic on Burlai with a mouse in his mouth.
He was like, yeah, you know, I'm just, I'm working here.
So that, I guess that doesn't really surprise me, but be careful with your pets, especially small dogs and cats.
I
remember going to a club in Milwaukee one time.
I did see several bears and otters, but that's another story.

This is real.
Since January, DC plastic surgeons have seen a wave of Trump.
Insiders asking for overt procedures in line with the quote Mar-a-Lago face on quote look Chain met there.
Why are women now see if I would bring this up?

This is real I want to know from a woman's perspective.
Why are women otherwise beautiful women?

to their faces.

So I come from this at a couple of different angles.
Number one, I've never understood when people take it to the point where it is so obvious now you've had work done.

When death shows up in the big robe with the sickle, he's not going to go, is that you?
You look so young.

So first of all, that's no out.
I just, I don't know that desire to look that way.

Even, I mean, if you do, you can look for before and after pictures of Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Yes.
You can do the same for Kristi Noem.
There are a number of other women in that administration and in that circle who, yes, it very much looks the same.
That's not my thing.
I guess if it makes you feel better, go for it.
I just know in my personal experience,
If I wear too much makeup, if I wear a lot of makeup, especially at this age, I just look like an old, not very successful prostitute.
So.
You know, I'm just kind of going with what I got.
This is it.

Well, but they look.
Good.
When they look in the mirror, they think they look fabulous.
But is it for
themselves?
Do you think?
Obviously, I shouldn't say obviously, but I don't think you know any of these people.
But do you think they really believe that?
Or are they doing it to impress essentially one guy, Trump, or the people around him?
And that's what's sad to me.
That's very sad.
And I certainly would think that there's a certain amount of pressure to have that look.
But you can see variations of that look on every news station that we have and certainly on Fox.
Yes.
Although that's a whole different category of different.
But yeah, I don't know.
