Happy Monday! Todd kicks off today’s show by recounting the weekend’s football games. The Badgers suffered an unsurprising loss, while the Packers brought home a win against former quarterback Aaron Rodgers. 

It’s been another week, and the federal government is still shut down. If they can’t figure out a deal by Friday, SNAP benefits (AKA food stamps) will run out and many Americans will be unable to afford food. 

At the bottom of the hour, Jane hops in for another edition of Mondays with Matenaer! Today, we tackle tribalism in American politics. Both Republicans and Democrats are too hasty in circling the wagons rather than calling out problems on their own sides. Naturally, Todd and Jane poke at the sore spots. The Republicans don’t want us to talk about how they caused the government shutdown, and Wisconsin Democrats won’t acknowledge Dr. Jill Underly’s apparent dereliction of duty in the Department of Public Instruction.
