They're also screening something called the big cheese documentary, which looks like a blast song, sung blue and the Italian classic horror film, Bay of Blood.
I mean, those are just a few of the things at the Milwaukee film festival this year.
And they're going to
speak film.
Oh, they're not filming.
They're going to be showing stop making sense again, as they usually do every single year.
So that's a great one to check.

Okay, my favorite board
game is Balderdash.
Oh, and it's a fun word too.
It's a fun word, but it's, I wasn't, I have to say my family were not, we were like more outside game type people, but when I met my wife's family, they were so into board games and I became addicted to board games.
They're
so much
fun.
And you know, there's some great ones that like spark arguments and discussion, like picture or not, but the scatter glories or I like catchphrase.
I love scrabble, but I would have to say Balderdash because some of the definitions you come up with while you're playing.
And most, a lot of people in my family just like to write funny definitions and make people laugh.
They're not actually even trying to win the game.
So that would probably be my favorite.

So
here's the question I have, uh, is when we'd say, let people say like Boulder dash or they'll say monopoly, can it be a non, but like, like one of my favorite games is not so much a board game.
It's a card game called joking hazard where it's, it's,
one.
Yeah, it's a really fun game.
Yeah,
that's totally fine.
Yeah, it goes along the same line of on apples to apples are cards against humanity where cards are put down.
Everyone puts in their their card and then one person at the table is the judge and they pick who the winner is and it's it is a little more
blue slash possibly offensive than apples to apples, but it's not as over the top as cards against humanity, especially has become in the past few years.
But I love joking hazard because it's comic it's comic strip based.
It's really fun.
And I love that game.
I'm not a I'm personally not a huge fan of board games like the Monopoly stuff like that.
I feel like I get to I get
anxious because of the competition of it all.
Whereas like with those
other
games, it's fun.
The rounds over quickly move on and then we're done and it's it.
But for me, joking hazard is the game I love to play.
Oh, that's a great answer.
It's a great.
I've never played cards against humanity.
Really?
I played it.
And I'm
dying to.
I once played it with my mother-in-law dot, dot,
dot.
That
went horribly.
So.
See all those awkward moments.
Oh, well,
yeah, off air.
I'll tell you what I had to do.
I can't say that
on the
air, but we, so cards into humanity used to do a Christmas pack every year.
You pay like 15, 20 bucks and you get like a care package from them with special cards made only for this pack.
So nobody else had to put this and you get like,
a letter and you get like it's just it's it's a weird little care package from this company and one year it got you got cards and it said oh who are you planning on giving this to and I said my wife and I gave my name and they printed a card with her name on it my wife was not
happy because it's like, I don't want my name being put on something like, I get it.
So we just took the card out, we put it away and we're like, we'd never do that, but she's got her own card.
It's, you know, on the side, we haven't played cards against humanity in a very long time.
We, you know, if, if we're doing that, it's usually going to be again, joking hazard, but that was a fun game for a while.
And then after, you know, then it's like, all right, we're moving on to other things.
That sounds like a blast.
authoritarian.
Nikki on my Facebook page said, of course, risk as well.
I used to play a weekly risk game with friends and they're a lot, they're like a thousand times smarter than I am, which isn't saying much, but they are much smarter than I am.
And I won once and then I never played again.
I was like, I'm retiring on
top.
No, I was defeated many times, but that night
I
won.
And I'm like, well, it's been fun.
I'm going to take off now and get out of here because I'm smarter than all of you right this moment.
And goodbye.

And you don't, you know, Madison is enough.
I mean, I love Madison, but they've got enough days there.

Their big 414 day sale is going on tomorrow in celebration of 414 day Milwaukee day.
And Dan, before we went to the break, you wanted to talk about the history of 414 day.
You're going to be having one of the creators at the show tomorrow, but it has been around for now, what, 16 years tomorrow,
right?
Yeah, that's right.
So Andy Silverman is one of the folks that founded Milwaukee Day.
He has a wonderful, terrific guy.
He and Brent Godey and Tim...
Gable put together this holiday a number of years back and it's kind of started as a joke almost to say that hey 414 this is Milwaukee Day but it has grown into this whole citywide celebration that there are events all over town there are mayoral proclamations there are all sorts of different things happening all over the city with in conjunction with Milwaukee Day and I think it you know it really comes at a great time of year for Milwaukee too.
because, you know, we're finally emerging from winter.
We're starting to get, you know, all sorts of like summer concert announcements, all sorts of fun stuff like that.
We're looking ahead to summer fest.
We're looking ahead to brewer games, getting started and all of that.
And I think it's just a great time of year.
It's a hopeful time of year for Milwaukee, right?
And we've got the great Milwaukee summer right around the corner.
So I just think it's a great, great time for this city to have this goofy little made up holiday.
And have that, you know, it's just I think it's just the spirit of it is so wonderful because it's just like, you know You can just do things you can just come up with a holiday and you can do that in a city like Milwaukee and and I was thinking about I was getting getting some stuff together for it for some of our promotions tomorrow too and and the Reconpopulation area the the actual one at Mitchell Airport is like that too I actually did some research on the origins of the Reconpopulation area in conjunction
with Milwaukee Day and the former airport director Barry Bateman just decided to do it and it's just there is that spirit of just like creativity and silliness and a little bit of whimsy that comes in with Milwaukee and you can just you know put up signs and have a recon-bobulation area at the airport and just notice the date on the calendar and hey say we're gonna make that a holiday and I really love that spirit about this city and I'm excited to celebrate it tomorrow at Anadine in Walker's Point.
I got to tell you, Dan, I first heard about Milwaukee day a week ago.
It's already above Arbor day on my list of holidays.
That I think it has that much potential.
You're right though.
It's
so cool.
We got to work with our tree brothers and sisters actually.
Maybe that's a new holiday.
But you've got a really cool bonus tomorrow during your event that you're going to be giving away something.
And please tell us about that because that's pretty cool, although hopefully it'll be after.
Well, go ahead and tell us about the bonus that we'll talk about.
Yeah, we've got a couple things to give away with at the event as well.
We've got some a pair of Brewer's tickets for an upcoming game.
I believe it's a Saturday night game when they've got they're giving away a windbreaker.
So you're going to want to
want to get

And then we're also partnering with the Milwaukee Film Festival this year.

I know you find folks here have been looking forward to that event as well.

I waited to say that joke, by the way, I let

I wanted to say really quick, uh, until I met, like, I always knew what the right recombobulation area was.
Like, as far as like the airport and I, you know, I've seen the sign.
Dozens upon dozens of times, but it wasn't until I met you and saw the work you did with the recombobulation area because what happens is people will take pictures of that sign
And at you, usually on Twitter, I'll see it on Facebook, but you're kind of like their North Star when they get to that.
They, and you, and you always respond.
It's always lovely.
But I didn't know until like two years ago that not every airport had that sign.
I thought every airport had a recombination.
I thought that was an, I thought that was an
FAA
term that everywhere else.
And I'm like, wait a minute.
I'm in DC.
Where's the recombination sign?
And then I came to the realization, Oh, only Milwaukee has it.
That's
right, baby.
It is a uniquely Milwaukee thing.
And that is part of what I love about it, too.
Yeah, nobody, no place else has a recombobulation area.
Maybe that's why so many other cities are so discombobulated because they have no place in Milwaukee to, you know, really piece yourself together and make your way to your destination and all of that.
And I just love the way that Milwaukee has kind of celebrated it and it's become part of like the vernacular.
in the city for the recombobulation area and the uniquely Milwaukee thing that it is.
It's it's just very silly and it's got some good wordplay.
And, you know, if anything else, I get wrong over the course of the recombobulation area in my, you know, my political opinions or whatever it else might be.
You know, I think I've got a little bit better batting average than most.
But if I get everything wrong, I know I got the name right.

special session on banning gerrymandering, which as you may know, is an issue that I'm particularly passionate about.
We just had the spring election last week, so we're gonna have to get into some politics, but most of the day, most of the program, most of the podcast will be focused on celebrating the city that we love.
And one of the things that we have made a priority at the Reconpopulation Area since we launched it has been not just to try to provide
a new option for some independent journalism here in the city, but also to build community.
And that's one thing that's been really important to us and events like this.
You know, we started as a subscriber funded publication and it is because of those people who subscribe to our publication that we're able to exist at all and do the types of things that we do.
So we always want to give people an opportunity to join in that community together with us.
events like this in Milwaukee.
We did a podcast before the RNC a couple of years ago.
We
did a live event there with Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley a couple of years ago.
And we're really excited to be having this conversation at Anaheim tomorrow evening.

Really quick thoughts on the Bucks news with Doc Rivers.
Is it give you hope for the next season?
What are you feeling with all this news coming out of the Bucks organization?
I'm certainly excited that Doc Rivers is no longer going to be the coach.
Somehow, I was not shocked by that statement.
You know, it hasn't worked.
The Doc Rivers experiment hasn't worked.
It was time to move on.
It was probably time to move on a while ago.
But, you know, definitely an uncertain offseason ahead for my beloved Milwaukee Bucks.
I am firmly in the keep Giannis.
Don't trade him.
Never leave us.
Why would you ever go anywhere?
Wow.
There's just
Dan
Schaefer wrapped around Giannis' leg going, don't go.
Don't go.
I get that, because he's Giannis.
But as a Bucs fan, while he still has trade value, I feel like he's going to leave Dan.
And I don't want that, because I think you need a sports hero in your town.
And he's definitely that.
How did you feel when they fired Adrian Griffin, who had a winning record at the time?
Um, it compared to this fire.
This is not a firing.
I'm sorry.

Um, uh, I
just got,
I'll give you a ride.
Yeah.
Um, I was, uh, I didn't think Adrian Griffin was a good coach at all.
I think I didn't think he was like an NBA caliber coach.
I like, I thought I didn't think doc was the best choice to as a replacement, but I, you know, he had a winning record, but it was like it was embarrassingly disastrous tenure as coach.
Um, it didn't get any better with dock rivers and they kept him there for two and a half years.
And so that wasn't great.
Um, so, you know, they, there's all my, my.
friend Eric name, who is a reporter at the athletic has written some terrific pieces about the Bucks over the last 24 hours, featuring, you know, stuff about Doc Rivers, about just the acrimony within the, within the organization.
He had an exclusive interview with Giannis.
I would go check out Eric's stuff at the athletic.
I'm still processing a lot of that right now, looking ahead to this, you know, uncertain off season.
I still think there's a path to become a contender.
It's a long shot.
Um, but you know, this is, this has been their worst season, the first time missing the playoffs, uh, in nine years since the 2015-16 season.
And you know what?
Before that, you know, nine years in a row of but the bucks making the playoffs and being a competitive team and making the finals before that, they didn't make the playoffs.
I think.
nine times in the rest of my life in the 90s and 2000s.
And so we've had this sustained period of competitive, successful Bucks basketball, and I'm grateful for it.
Uh, and I'm, I don't know if it's going to continue, but I've been grateful for these past nine years.
That's for sure.
I hope it
happens just for you, Dan.
