You know, it's getting to that point real closely because, you know, we start our day somewhere between 4.30 and 5.

And tomorrow morning, we're getting up even earlier for this big event.

All right.

That is so cool.

Okay, so I love this event It's max FM purple Thursday Hope House radio requestathon that is taking place this Thursday You're kind of pitching it like you're letting the listeners take over the airwaves.

Can you explain that?

So that's exactly what's going to happen.

We have a link on max.fm website right now.

If you click on the whole post request defined, there's a link to donate.

The cool part is when you make that donation, you get to request a song, a minimum $5 donation gets your.

request on the air a $10 more donation you can do a dedication and if you don't like what's on there you can do a minimum $25 donation to bump that song play yours immediately last year it got a little bit crazy with that because you know someone played that one song about the bears not doing so great

Yeah, and that upsets somebody.

So then they bumped that, then we had this bear Super Bowl shuffle song on right after that, somebody bumped that.

This went on for about 20 minutes and just constantly bumping that song off the air.

And it's all for a great cause it benefits Hope House of South Central Wisconsin.

They're the only domestic violence shelter in a five

county area that lost a lot of federal funding.

So we've set a lofty goal to raise $5,000 between 7 a.m.

and 4 p.m.

tomorrow.

That is so great.

Hope House, for those of you that don't know, serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.

It's a great cause and it's tomorrow.

The goal is five grand.

I would imagine once people start bumping songs, it's like a poker

pot where it just keeps growing and growing.

It's like cha-ching.

Have you done this in the past?

Yes.

So we got, this is our fourth annual Hope House request, radio request.

Before we did this, we originally were doing a donation drive and we did that outside.

We did some broadcasting outside live.

Every year the weather was absolutely horrible for this.

It was raining.

One year was almost snowing when we were outside and we said, okay, we got to find a better way to do this, a better way to help Hope House.

Four years ago, we came up with this idea.

Let's do a radio request, if I may.

It's just kept growing from there.

Last year, we had a $3,500 goal.

We met and exceeded that.

And so this year, we sweetened

that

a little bit.

We said, we want to hit $5,000.

And our morning show hosts are going to do something absolutely crazy if we hit that goal.

we do that day goes by so fast we have so much fun with this because you never know what you're going to hear

one year we had someone playing Christmas music, and then another family member was bumping the Christmas music off from the same household.

And they went back and forth for about 20 minutes on that.

One year we had polka on there as well.

So there's a very good chance if you tune into 997 Max FM and Bearwood Mara or via the Free Soak Media app, you might even hear a polka song or two on there as well.

We play almost anything with In Riz.

And now, you know, it's funny, I was talking to Rich a little bit earlier, he goes, well, it's very stipulated.

I'm like, yeah, no nine minute songs, Rich.

And he's like, oh, so we, you know, so we have a few, we'll play a few minutes of it, but we're not going to play all nine minutes because we want to get all those requests in between seven and four.

And we go later if needed.

Last year we went until almost six PM.

So you can imagine being on air from six in the morning till six at night, what that would be like.

You can't even like, I would imagine with those polka songs, you can't even get another song going before the polka songs over.

Those are like 90 seconds.

Yeah, they are and then we're of course dancing around in studio during all this as well So there's last shenanigans that go on with that part of it We actually set up some of our live streaming equipment and we have that tested We'll do a little bit of live streaming from the max FM studio tomorrow morning as well for the first time ever as well.

And also, you've got some wrestling stuff coming up.

I wanted to ask you, on the phone earlier, you said that ESPN and the WWE have an agreement, but it's kind of controversial.

Why is that?

It's

controversial in the fact that it just came up out of nowhere.

It was just like three weeks before this most recent premium live event.

They're like, oh, WWE has launched a partnership with ESPN.

And moving forward, the WWE premium live events will be streaming on the ESPN app.

And it caught everybody completely off guard and obviously the price of the app and everything.

And the interesting thing about it, and I'm willing to admit this, I know this is not a great selling point for professional wrestling, but the show itself was mostly average.

Huh.

So it doesn't mean that they're all going to be average.

I mean, believe me, I've been watching wrestling now for over 25 years.

I've seen some doozies of pay-per-views and premium live events, but it's you don't know until you watch it.

Right.

So.

I know I'm not not the best sales pitch for professional wrestling for those casual

fans

out

there.

But I mean ESPN seems like a decent home for it.

Yeah.

I mean

there's been a little intersection over the years but not much.

I remember back in the day AWA used to be on ESPN.

This is like Baron Von Rasky and Jesse the body of Ventura and Hulk Hogan before Hulkamania and Frankie the Thumper DeFalco just guys like that AWA on ESPN now it's now you have one of the largest if not the largest professional wrestling organization in the WWE on ESPN as far as their premium live events are concerned

Wow.

So what is the last thing or what do you have?

Have you been to one of these events recently or do you have plans to go to one in the near future?

I am more focused now and this is not a knock against WWE or what All Elite Wrestling is doing, but I love, absolutely love working with this.

independent wrestling promotions.

So I work primarily, I'm the full-time ring announcer for a promotion.

It's actually a training school in Butler, Wisconsin.

It's called House of Headlocks.

So their next show, Saturday, October the 11th, it's gonna be called Wild Style.

And it's the tournament finals to crown the first ever House of Headlocks social media champion.

Oh my gosh.

And the belt is absolutely beautiful.

Purple strap, it's got emojis on the shield.

It's really classy and it's really cool.

So how do they do that?

How do they

teach like that stuff?

Well, I never went through the process of, you know, being a professional wrestler.

Right.

My mother wouldn't sign the permission slip.

But, you know, I've been groomed by some of the best here in Wisconsin.

My mentor, Scott Williams,

is a member of the Wisconsin Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.

And, you know, he said, you know what, you can do this.

I'm like, can I?

He's like, yeah, you can do this.

There's a charity event in West Bend.

Go do that.

You got

this.

This is what I do.

You can do that.

Yeah, I can do that.

We'll go do that then.

Well, you're also a wrestling announcer.

I think that's a safer line of work and probably that you could do more into your later years.

Yeah.

Now, I do get upset sometimes when, well, wrestlers will come up to me and they'll disrespect me or tear the microphone out of my hand.

There was actually an incident that happened a couple months ago where I got really really mad because basically these two are pouting like it shouldn't have gone to a time limit draw.

This isn't fair.

I'm obviously you know over exaggerating this a little bit.

You're adding

the voice.

Yeah, I'm adding the voice,

but I was mad like like you're disrespecting me.

I am sick and tired of these petulant children basically disrespecting me and putting their fingers in my face.

But I like the fact that you guys want to fight still.

So this is what we're going to do.

I'm making an executive decision.

So that's great.

That

actually set up the main event for last month's show, this month's show

actually.

Okay.

And you, you know, you gave me my wrestling nickname.

The Pine Tree Mauler.

I think we should come back with that con after.

Now I have a

about that

because I mean, obviously the drive up here I 43, I saw plenty of pine trees.

So

Are you just eliminating specific pine trees or are you focusing on a specific region of like, are you going to like state parks or state forests and just, oh, that one looks good and then just going to town on it?

Or does that work?

It's more of a general pine tree nickname, I think.

Okay.

Maybe a white pine.

That's what they used to make the Grand Hotel.

Interesting.

But first, I have to ask you, you mentioned something on the phone earlier, the Green Bay Monday Night Raw.

That was, yeah, it was just over two weeks ago.

So how does wrestling go over in Green Band?

What do they do like at the Res Center?

At the Res Center.

Oh, wow.

That must have been cool.

I mean, you packed that place, 15,000 people, and you got all the pyro, you got all the stars.

It is so much fun.

It is so much fun to be a part of Money Night Raw or Friday Night's Backdown or a premium live event.

It's an experience now the one I will say this again not this is not the best sales pitch for professional wrestling But another controversy is the pricing for WrestleMania 42 just came out and it is obscenely overpriced Obscenely like front row tickets for both nights of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

It's somewhere gonna be around $9,000 for both.

It's for both nights

But

then that's even before it gets onto the

secondhand market as far as you know people buying up the tickets and then selling them for more

nine grand

nine thousand

dollars So who and who how many tickets is that?

one for both nights

So if you and the missus want to check out some wrestling It's gonna run you 18 grand,

but we're talking about the creme de la creme WrestleMania

much

for the nosebleeds

less than that, obviously, but a fraction

of that.

But still more than, I mean, for

the

nosebleeds, like it's, you can pack a lot of people in these different venues that they've been putting WrestleMania's in.

So they had it at Allegiant Stadium this year.

They're going to have it at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next year.

And they just made the announcement they're going to have it in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the first time outside of North America, WrestleMania 43 in 2027.
