Racing Through Stories: From Springsteen to Angels of Dirt(Hour 1)
Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba and Greg Bach · Wed Sep 24, 2025
Broadcasting
live statewide from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.
This is Night Light with Pete Schwabba, your inside source on everything entertainment from Wisconsin to Hollywood.
And now a guy who wanted to be in porn but didn't have the acting chops, Pete Schwabba.
Hey,
hey, welcome to Night Light, ladies and gentlemen.
Wow, what a night.
A Wednesday night, middle of the week.
We've still got three more shows to do, and I cannot wait to get started here.
We have an outstanding show tonight, folks.
Jam-Packed.
I have packed this show with guests.
We've got a couple civic media friends coming by, a couple all-stars, and a record producer and filmmaker who has made two amazing films.
and produced a lot of great records from some great 90s bands.
So I will tell you all about the guests and our question of the night.
We have had such great listener interaction this week.
I am still playing catch-up with texts from Monday night, and we will hopefully get through those tonight, if not tomorrow night.
But we've had, you guys have responded so well to the questions we've put out there.
that we I'm still kind of catching up so I will get to them though that is my vow to you I hope everyone had a great day wherever you are in Wisconsin it's kind of a gloomy day but not too cold I can dig this kind of weather count right I know you get kind of bummed out by the gloomy weather sometimes no no no
Man, if we didn't beat that into the ground enough last night, I'm glad your legs are feeling better no more.
It's not wrestlers' leg syndrome day anyway, so you probably can't.
You know, they're a little sore.
I did some legs today, so.
Did you really?
Yeah, after that, you know, the flare up yesterday, I had to get a workout.
Get out, yeah, get that dopamine going.
That'll cure that wrestlers' leg syndrome right up.
That is Conrad Krieger.
He's working the board tonight producing Nightlight and...
Tonight's guests, we've got excellent guests tonight, folks.
Wendy Schneider will be here at 635.
Wendy made a documentary called The Smart Studios about 10 years ago, maybe not quite 10 years ago, about Butch Vig and Steve Marker and how they founded The Smart Studios.
Just a little hole in the wall, kind of red brick building right at the corner of East Washington and Baldwin, right on East Wash, as you're headed toward the Capitol.
So many great records were produced there.
Nirvana's Never Mind, some smashing pumpkins, albums, garbage.
Just a lot of great bands.
A phenomenal documentary.
Her most recent film, which we'll talk about as well tonight, is Angels of Dirt.
And this was a great movie about Motocross and this hotshot motorcycle rider named Charlotte, who, I mean, I guess I can say it now, she lost her life kind of, I want to say it was in the middle of filming.
And Wendy carried on with the project.
She's just such a good filmmaker and has just a great eye and a great knack for storytelling, just like she does with record producing.
So we will talk to Wendy.
She'll be here at 635.
We'll tell you where you can see Angels of Dirt and the Smart Studios and get caught up with our friend Madison based Wendy Schneider.
And then at 705, David Grant Conrad coming by.
That's true from WMAX in Baraboo.
That's exciting.
He's got a really cool thing.
They are promoting Thursday.
They're letting the listener take over the airwaves.
This is a recipe for disaster, I think.
I
mean, but how cool is it?
Very cool.
And very, you got to be very secure to do that.
Yeah,
gotta make sure there's a couple words you can't say.
Exactly.
David will tell us all about this great request-a-thon it's called and it benefits Hope House.
So it's very, it's for charity.
It's just a great program.
They're calling it, David is calling it Purple Thursday.
And that's tomorrow.
So if you're in the Baraboo area, you can be part of request-a-thon.
And it sounds like it's from 7 a.m.
to 4 p.m.
It's a big undertaking.
You know who can participate in that?
My
grandma, Sheila, is in Baraboo.
And Carla, right?
Is it in Carla in Baraboo?
Yeah.
That's a lot of pressure to take over a radio station.
It is.
So we'll talk to David about that really cool event they have going on tomorrow down in Baraboo.
And then at 720, our pal Rich Lucasio.
WRJN's own, he also has big news because he's about to become part of another civic media family too with his on-air talents.
And he's also a wrestling ring announcer.
So he will keep us posted on all things wrestling and the new deal with ESPN and a couple of events coming up.
We'll talk to Rich and we're gonna give Rich a wrestling quiz.
Yes, it took me a while to create it with help.
Just kidding, it took me about five minutes.
All
right.
But it's going to be better than the last cause we did with chat, GBT, because I put some of my words into it this time.
Into your multiple guess?
Yeah.
All right.
Fantastic.
I'm pretty
sure one of my favorites is in there.
That's awesome.
All right.
We've got, this is kind of exciting, folks.
We've been talking about it all week.
This goes through October 3rd.
It's our go for the green and gold text to win contest 2025 here at Civic Media.
of a really cool contest.
Our text-to-win contests are always fun.
You have to have the app to play.
That's the only stipulation.
You have the app tonight between 7 and 8, shortly after 7 o'clock.
I will give you the keyword you text in on the app, the keyword.
We will text back a response letting you know we received your text.
And this is really cool.
Every day you are eligible to win 200 bucks cash.
That's money that's going to burn a hole in your pocket, ladies and gentlemen.
And gold jewelry.
I mean, how cool is that?
200 bucks cash and gold jewelry countered.
Not either or.
That's awesome.
We're not making people choose.
And entering every hour, every day, puts you, makes you eligible for our grand prize.
And this is even cooler.
Two club level indoor seats to Green Bay versus Minnesota.
That's football.
It's a Green Bay home game at 12 noon on November 23rd and we're throwing in a gas card to get you there It's like over a $1,500 value.
It's a really fun contest and you can see the green and gold square off against the Conrad purple people people leaders, baby So we will do that at seven o'clock.
I will refresh your memory a little bit about the contest and the rules and Then I will give you the keyword and this goes through October 3rd.
You can do it every day
And I wish you luck, because it's fun.
This is a really great contest.
And also, I want to let you know that once you text in the keyword, you're going to get a link back.
If you click on that and sign up for the Civic Media newsletter, Civic Media Today, or follow us on social media, you have extra chances to win.
Do we know how they do that, Conrad?
I'm not up on the mechanics, but it's supposed to enhance your chances.
Yeah.
Who's got a problem with that?
Well, I mean, yeah.
It's just a better chance with those prizes.
I mean, why would you not want a better your chance?
Absolutely.
I don't know, man.
What would you do with 200 bucks?
Um, you know, I think I'm gonna
pass.
I don't I was gonna say I can't I don't want to say it.
I don't I would 200 bucks.
I think I just go
out for a great dinner.
Yeah, no, that's that's a good idea.
Well, versus what I was going to say.
which is not family-friendly apparently or something.
No, I would go to, you know what I would do?
I'd probably go to the tornado room in Madison again, because I went there with my son Joe about two months ago when we were both in Madison and we spent about $190, just the two of us.
But it had to be, you know, a great environment there, you said?
Unbelievable.
And great food?
Throwback steakhouse, the food was outstanding, the service was outstanding.
It's just, you don't get, it's kind of good service.
Hard to come by these days.
Anyway, you could do whatever you want with the 200 bucks, folks.
We will have more information on the go for the green and gold contest after the news at seven o'clock, and I will give you the keyword shortly after that.
Great show tonight.
Let's get to our nightlight question of the night, Khan.
What do you say?
Let's talk about the question
question question
question question question question This
might be my favorite question I've ever launched on this show the boss Ladies and gentlemen is 76 years old Happy birthday to Bruce Springsteen our question.
What's your favorite Springsteen song?
And talk about
was so easy to pick when I was younger because I would pick one of the hits then I found out like the Nebraska album and the Devils and Dust album where he's just songwriting and it's just him and I it took my love for Springsteen to a whole new level as in my opinion the greatest American songwriter he has big anthems and born in the USA glory days born to run all these big stadium rockers
But he's got these beautiful ballads and these little odes and these great songs too.
And I don't think like, like a lot of people will say Dylan is the greatest songwriter and Dylan is great.
But to do what Springsteen does with the big hits and the pop music and selling out stadiums and then also do kind of what Dylan did too.
I just think he's the best.
So, but it's not a contest.
Just tell us your favorite Springsteen song.
You all know, you know, at least a couple of his tunes.
I'm going to say I had trouble with this one, but.
I would probably say Thunder Road.
On social media, I put Thunder Road or Reason to Believe and everything else you wrote.
I kind of capped out there.
So every single song.
Every single song.
Yeah.
What about you, Ken?
You know, I really like Rosalito.
Oh, we play that.
It's one of our bumper tunes.
And it's
funny.
I didn't really know any Bruce Springsteen songs, you know, before he made me pull these songs for bumpers.
And
I
haven't named his Rosalina in this.
I haven't changed it.
Yeah, that's a great version, too, that we have.
I love that one.
So let us know, folks, 855-752-4842-855-756.
What is your favorite song by the boss?
You can also drop us a text or an app text, app message, if you will, or you can drop us a stream comment if you're watching the radio on Twitter.
YouTube or Facebook.
Let us know and we will read it on the radio.
Be part of the show, folks.
It's always more fun when people participate.
And speaking of which, Con, first of all, before I get to these texts from last night, I want you to have an Instagram soulmate, as I understand it.
Please tell this story.
Yeah, just, you know, about 10 minutes ago, I got a request to message me.
I was like, huh, I wonder what this is.
Don't know who the person is.
And it says, the doctor told me I have one, only one month to live.
I've decided to spend this time traveling alone, quietly saying goodbye to the world.
I have no children.
My only regret is that I couldn't spend this life with you.
Again, I don't know who this is.
Do you text them back?
What are the assets?
I don't mean to be insensitive.
I'm sorry you're dying.
But seriously, what would you leave me?
Yeah, she keeps going on saying you were my first love and you always been in my heart.
I left you some assets.
I hope this is a gesture brings us together in the next life.
I'm ready to serve very well to this world.
But if you had a month to live, are you texting strangers on social media?
Well, first of all, you know, obviously it's it's not real.
It's someone trying to collect because it's like to collect these assets.
You have to send your bank information or something like
that.
And
so there is there is that angle just on this.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, obviously, it's like a link.
And if you touch that link, who knows what you're going to.
They can take your identity.
Well, I think I'm in love, though.
Listen, I
What if hear me out rom-com pitch?
What if this person is legitimate?
Let's say it's someone who works over at Shriver across the street or it You know at the Haberdasher down here just sees me watch you walking back and forth with your salads Something I want to be part of the Conrad business and they do this and you're gonna pass that up because you think it might be a Russian bot
Yeah, you know I'm okay with not taking that risk to be honest
Okay.
Give me a lot of money.
You know, I can send along your information if you'd like.
No, who could we send though?
That would be fun.
That would be a great practical joke to send somebody's social security.
Yeah, that's great.
I have a spot on my pants too.
I just found out when I was getting dressed to come down here.
So I wore a longer shirt.
Like, you know, we all have pants we like that fit as well.
I put like pasta or something on it.
And now I got an oil stain.
Well, you know, you probably shouldn't put spaghetti in your pockets.
I'm just letting you know.
I don't see the harm.
All right, we're coming back, folks.
We are going to catch up on tax when we come back.
And oh, man, what else kind of there's so much going on?
Well, you know, there's Kim Kardashian.
I don't know.
We'll tell you a Kim Kardashian story about how she cheats at poker.
This is Peach Waba and Nightlight on the Civic Media radio
network.
We
are celebrating the boss tonight.
He is turned 76.
And to be honest, I don't, it might have been yesterday actually, but either way.
Well, he is 76 now.
He is 76 either way.
And he is still doing three hour concerts.
And I keep going to see him thinking, Oh, this could be his last tour.
I'm sure he just keeps going and going.
So happy birthday, Bruce Springsteen.
Wendy Schneider will be here in just a few minutes telling us about her film, Angels of Dirt.
There is news about that film.
And we have David Grant coming up at 7.05 to tell us about a really cool event happening in Baraboo tomorrow where you can take over the radio and make requests or say you don't want to hear something.
It sounds like a really fun.
charity it's it's it's for a good cause you know Conrad did you know that
yeah great cause
so we'll talk to David about that at 705 and then our pal Rich Lucassio will be here in studio and then there's a reason he's in Green Bay we'll find out that at we'll find out why at 720 what was the Kim Kardashian thing I kind of didn't get that it was just like a meme or a gift all right
well it was a picture I saw the other day and it was Kim Kardashian wearing
reflective sunglasses
yeah
plain poker so as you can she's she's looking at her cards and everyone around her get the reflection on her sunglasses and see the cards that she has
so it was an accident i kind of pitched it like she was cheating somehow i mean she is kind of
cheating because she's letting everyone know that's
cheating yeah she's not gonna benefit her in any
way i don't know who goes into poker games like yeah i'm gonna
reflective sunglasses.
This is just the strategic area I need is to let everybody else know what I'm carrying, what I'm packing.
Hey, we have a phone call, Conrad?
Yeah, Linda from Waukesha.
All right, Linda.
Good evening.
Hey, Pete, what's
up?
Not too much.
You tell me.
Hey,
don this soap on that spot, rub it in good, and then wash them.
It gets movie theater butter out.
Come on.
Wait now wait a minute.
I have heard that now that you say that and I really appreciate the call.
Thank you What
if I've
already washed them?
Yeah, will the
dawn still try
it really?
I don't know if you've already washed them, but try it anyway Just rub it in really good before you put it in the washer.
Oh, that's a great
try.
I love that home spawn recipe.
What do I owe you?
Play the contest you can win 200 bucks.
That'll be my payment to you
We're
working on
it.
All right.
Outstanding.
Thanks so much for the call.
Yep.
All right.
That's Linda from Wagasha.
See that?
People helping people.
Yeah.
That's beautiful.
Yeah.
So let's get caught up on some text from last night.
Our question last night was who was your favorite female rocker?
And some of these responses are from when Dr. Kristen Lyrely was here last night.
She was on the show here in the studio with me.
And she's always fun.
Mary from TOSUS is Conrad.
Hearing the crashes, assume you're not kidding.
Yeah, you know, I just had a flare-up yesterday.
He's okay,
Mary.
But thank you for your concern.
Mary also says continuing, RLS is tough.
Suggests checking with Dr. Omar, compounding pharmacist with Weltopia in Thienesville.
Oh, that's a mouthful.
Yeah, I'll write that down.
Hear him on Earls.
What's going on?
Probably has an assist for you.
I don't think Mary thinks we were joking.
I think she actually thinks you were harming yourself.
No, you know, I cleaned up the jelly.
It's all good.
All right.
Thank you, Mary.
Mark from Prairie to Sex says the Doc Rocks agreed.
Kristen Lierly is a rock star.
She's got fans all over the network.
Terry from Cross Plains, he's in the 608.
Or she, Conrad.
Hey, Pete, I stand with Ollie and have to say Tina Turner, the flip side of Proud Mary, was funkier than a mosquitoes tweeter.
I've heard that song before.
For your information, I've got RLS2.
I've seen Bruce over 50 times.
Wow.
You got me beat by about 40, 43, Terry.
Wow, good for you, though.
Listen, he does so much for charity, your money is going to a good place.
In addition to being entertained, he's walking the walk too, so that's outstanding.
He says, Terry from Cross Plain says, my birthday is tomorrow, so close to the boss.
Happy birthday, Terry.
Steady Eddie last night said, Pete, I choose Joni Mitchell as my favorite female rocker.
She is a great songwriter and has a wonderful voice despite her pack-a-day smoking addiction.
She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
I think Eddie needs his own rock hall, Hall of Fame.
WMDX, John Murray from the 608 listing, he says, this is why I live you, Peter.
I think he meant love.
I'm uncomfortable with that.
You know, you never know.
Never know.
Appreciate the love, John.
Thank you.
Right back at you, partner.
Ross from Crawford County in the 608 says, of heart, barracuda and dog and butterfly.
I think that was, he was referring, he was probably playing the quiz along with Dr. Liarley.
Thank you, Ross.
John also says Joan Jett and I went to different high schools together, but she's not my fave.
Nancy Wilson was the best female rocker of my time from Hart.
Oh, very well done, John.
Paul from Bayview in the 414 says Pat Benatar.
Yeah, honestly, I thought we'd get more votes yesterday for Pat Benatar.
Carrie from Tosa says Blondie, cutting edge and so ahead of her time.
Totally agree, Carrie.
Tyler in Wisconsin Rapids from the 608 says, Ricky Lee Jones has my vote.
On a side note, the dock is coming in hot and Conrad broke all the jelly jars.
That can't end well.
There's a lot going on here last night.
There was.
It's a big mess.
Thanks, Tyler.
Edward from the 414.
For me, it's a toss up between Stevie Nicks and Alanis Morissette.
I forgot about Alanis Morissette.
Great text, Edward.
Conrad's mom checked in and said, I love Joan Jett.
best female rocker.
Your mom said that with a lot of confidence.
Yeah.
All right.
Thank you, Paula.
Carrie from Tosa, again, says, and in honor of Rapture, Blondie.
Yeah, Rapture's a great tune.
Jim from Appleton, he's in the 9-2-0, says my favorite Lady Rockers are Amy Lee from, I don't know the band name there.
Sorry, Jim.
Martha Davis from the Motels.
I love Martha Davis.
Only the Lonely and what's the other one?
Oh, they had two hits that were huge and they're both great.
Amelie from 7,000 Apart.
That's a great one.
Thank you, Jim.
Totally agree, our friend Amelie.
And Nancy Wilson from Heart.
And on and on.
Thanks, Jim.
We've got a few more texts to get you from last night.
We'll do that when we come back.
Wendy Schneider will be here.
We'll get her take on Female Rockers, too, because she's been around her share.
And hey, folks, the Go For The Green and Gold contest, giving you details after the news at the top of the hour.
Peach Waba Nightlight from the Civic Media Radio Network.
I was one of the
first songs I learned how to play on my guitar because it was all like three chords and I've progressed nothing since then.
I'm Pete Chihuahua.
This is Nightlight.
Welcome back, folks.
We have a great show tonight.
I'm going to tell you, after the top of the hour, I'm going to give you all the details you need for our go for the gold, green and gold text to win multi-state contest.
We have a lot of fun with our contests here.
And we are going to deliver some prizes.
And I hope that a Nightlight listener will be the recipient.
But we'll do all that after the top of the hour.
Rich Lucasio, wrestling announcer.
and on-air personalities here at 720 and David Grant from WMAX in Baraboo is going to tell us about a really cool, just a great thing they're doing down at WMAX tomorrow for Hope House.
So we'll talk to David at 705.
Right now, I'm very excited to welcome my next guest.
She's been on the show before.
She's made award-winning documentaries and award-winning albums too.
She's got a foot in each Artistic platform if you will and she is a pal of mine and joins me now for Madison over the stream a Wendy Schneider.
Hi Wendy Is Wendy's mic not on Wendy there maybe she got cold feet
Stick with us, Wendy.
I'm gonna read a couple texts.
We probably just have like a technical issue or something.
Going back to our text from last night, we're still playing catch up, folks.
Our question of the night last night was, who was your favorite female rocker?
And that's because Joan Jett turned 68.
All these fantastic rock stars aging before our eyes tonight, we celebrate Bruce Springsteen.
Yesterday, it was female rockers.
Tom from New Berlin says, the Tyler Beatle.
Love it.
I don't know who that is, Tom.
I will go to the Google though.
Thank you for the text in the 414.
Mark from Prairie to Sack in 608 says, great to hear you, Dr. Kristen.
Yes, I'm glad you got to hear that, Mark.
Kristen is always so much fun when she's on the show.
And man, she can just talk about anything.
She's a blast.
So I'm glad you enjoyed that.
Steve from Milwaukee in the 262 says, you got to watch Oliver's last two shows.
They pulled footage from 2006 and footage of Stephen Miller as a college student.
It was hilarious.
If you're not watching John Oliver, folks, he pulls no punches.
He's handled this Jimmy Kimmel stuff really well.
He is a brilliant comedian and his show is very well written too.
So thank you for the text, Steve.
We didn't even get to Kimmel's monologue either tonight too.
He was back in the air last night.
His monologue was spectacular.
He took the time to thank people from the left and the right that supported him in getting his show back on.
He kind of, I know there was this big thing where they wanted him to apologize, but he didn't really do that, but he said he didn't mean to be insensitive to the Kirk family, but it was the other people in the Trump administration he was going after that he felt were being disingenuous.
But anyway, it was a great monologue, and I would Google it.
It's like 17 minutes long, and it was a lot of fun to watch, and I'm glad he's back on the air.
Even if he's not on, in all the affiliates, we'll have to get a count on that counter, and maybe he's only on two markets, but still I'm glad he's on.
I, yeah.
All right, man, a few words.
All right, we are gonna, I think we have, do we have Wendy now?
I believe so.
Oh, fantastic.
Wendy, are you there?
No, we still don't have sound.
Did she hear my brilliant intro of her and all the praise I heaped on her?
Should we just get her on the phone?
Wendy, if you can hear us, we're gonna get you on the phone, but stay on the picture too, so we can see each other, okay?
All right, we will get Wendy on the phone and talk about her film, Angels of Dirt.
You have to see it, folks.
If you have not seen Angels of Dirt, I'll tell you where you can watch it after we talk to Wendy.
Hopefully you can watch it now or it's coming out soon.
And we've also got her film, The Smart Studio Story, is outstanding to us.
So you definitely want to check out some of her work.
She is a phenomenal director and record producer.
Do we have...
Can we get her on the phone?
Oh, Conrad.
It's funny how Conrad's restless leg syndrome disappears when he gets focused on his work.
Yes.
From our social media today, we got some texts.
Our question of the day, folks, what is your favorite Bruce Springsteen song?
The boss is 76, ladies and gentlemen.
He is six years younger than my dad.
And my dad's got a good voice.
But he ain't doing no three-hour concerts.
Alan Whitebird says, I'm on fire.
We just heard a little bit of I'm on fire.
Thank you, Alan.
Great tune.
Mike Desitel says, the acoustic version of Born to Run.
Love it, Mike.
I found that about 20 years ago.
And I think I like it better than the big stadium version where it's all produced and stuff.
Eric Ratsack, lead singer of Ask Your Mother.
Stretch.
Chymanin says too many, but if I had to choose Glory Days or Thunder Road, Darlington County always liked that one.
Thank you, Eric.
Matt Harper says Glory Days is fire.
Both these guys who've been on the show, we got to get them back on the show.
Matt Harper, the rock rap artist from here in Green Bay, and Eric Rathsack, the very tall front man for Ask Your Mother.
Patrick Mines says, Jesse's girl, having a little fun with the question?
Because it was Rick Springfield, I think, that wrote the song, She Called Me Bruce.
Because everybody, he had the unfortunate issue of having spring in his name.
All right, do we have Wendy?
Wendy, are you there?
Yes, we
do.
Can you hear me?
Yes.
Success.
How are you, my friend?
I'm good, you know.
I mean, I'm taking my multivitamins, being hydrated, loving.
I love the leaves turning, you know,
it's the
beginning of...
a break from a hot Wisconsin summer, but I'm good.
I'm working hard.
How are you doing?
I'm good.
I am also taking my multivitamins with a little extra D. So I'm right there with you.
We have to take care of ourselves.
I
wonder if I can put this speakerphone.
Can I do that?
It
sounds all right.
Does that sound good?
Okay.
Yeah,
that sounds
great.
I can hear you.
All right.
This is a little bit better.
Fantastic.
Well, how are you?
Like, I know your health is good, but are you first of all, I have to ask you, do you have a favorite Springsteen song?
Well, there's Born to Run because he says Wendy three times.
Yes.
Born to Run.
But yeah, no, I mean, the album Nebraska State Trooper is like a really
beautiful intense song but that was a record that um took me through like a really intense time of my life so you know yeah there were seven songs on that record and I can't remember the names and then state trooper but yeah that that uh record became really important to um
to me, probably one of the reasons I'm here.
So
that's so cool to hear.
Yeah, Johnny 99, I think was on that record and reason to believe.
It's just a phenomenal.
Have you ever heard his another solo effort he did?
It's the Devils in Dust album.
Oh, just unbelievable songwriting.
I would love for you to listen to that and tell me what you think because kind of you're an insider and I would love to hear what
I'm just from New Jersey.
But you produce music.
Yes, I'm wearing a denim jacket tonight, which is very Bruce Springsteen Yes, I mean I love Bruce Springsteen.
I have so much respect for him and Yeah,
all right.
Well our question last night I'd love for you to weigh in on this too before we get to Angels of Dirt It was Joan Jett turned 68 this week So our question last night was who is who is the best all-time female rocker?
Do you have an opinion on that?
No too many
Well, far too many.
I mean, I could just like Janice Joplin just sprung into my head.
It's women in rock, women performers, women artists.
You know, it's really hard to pin down and who's influencing you one morning.
It could be Amy Winehouse or it's, you know, Grace Jones.
It's just really so, um, so varied for me.
I think that, um, you know, people can narrow it down easier than maybe I can, but,
um,
so I don't have an answer.
I can't help you.
Although, um, I will say that Joan Jeff birthday is my birthday, September 22nd.
Nice.
Yeah, I turned 61 on Monday.
Yeah.
Happy
birthday.
Thank you so much.
Yeah.
And I did something.
I had a few people over at my studio here and I called it a poetry potluck.
So everyone that came brought a poem and like every 10 minutes I would whack on a cowbell and somebody would stand up and read their poem.
So I want to just present that to your audience is a really nice.
It's a nice party.
No, I don't.
It's really a theme, but it was a nice activity.
Yeah, and
it's better than pin the tail on the donkey or the spanking machine.
I mean, it's a little more adult.
Yeah, I don't do shots anymore.
Something else every 10 minutes.
This is going to break your heart.
I was in Madison on Monday and I've got tons of favorite poems.
I could have crushed that party.
Well, the party was Sunday,
so
you would have been your poem would have fallen on deaf ears But but if you want to bring your poetry by the studio any time you're welcome anytime anytime
I will take you up in that one of these.
I am anxious to see your space there So let's let's talk about angels of dirt.
Is there new news?
Can people see it in a broader sense now or are you still in the festival circuit?
No, I finished the festival circuit and then I went and you know Just really peddled my wares around the states and brought the film to races and garages and people that are a bit more connected to the niche community that is flat track and then I got accepted and invited to go to Portugal and bring the film to the Lisbon Motorcycle Film Festival that was in May
And so I used that to just launch a three week tour in Europe.
So I took the film around again to, you know, real boutique events that, you know, that we're connecting the film with the community that is that the film resonates with.
Although what I learned over this year and a half was the film really resonates with a lot of people who have nothing to do with motorcycle racing.
So I love that.
I love
you know this opportunity that I have right now in my life to be conduit for this story as it goes out into the world because my time is is transitioning into you know just knocking on more doors and saying watch it watch it because the film and why you know we're chatting tonight is the film was launched on the digital platform a week ago so it's now available for anyone to watch.
Where can we see it which platform
if you go to well, it's not inventive But you get to it.
Just go to angels of dirt comm
the
easiest way to get to the film and it says watch now when you
go to the
website and I'll and for tonight because we you have me on the air I've put discount code into the film.
So if people go to watch the film, this is tonight only There you just have to put in Schwab a 35
35 with Charlotte's number.
And
so they will
get a 35% discount.
So angelsadirt.com, watch the film when you go to pay discount code Schwab us 35.
Oh, that is fantastic.
Well, I'm happy to be a part of that in password terms.
What tell all right.
So now that you told people where we can see it, tell us a little bit about the film and this great rock star of a motorcycle racer you followed.
While 2006, I showed up at Aztalan in Lake Mills, Wisconsin with a camera to interview young girls who I had seen racing when I was there as a spectator.
And the first girl that I met was Charlotte Keynes.
And I did an interview with her, met her mom and dad, and just found that it was an easy environment to be curious in.
You know, there was Charlotte, there were other girls.
I was learning about races.
incredibly turned on by the community that I was connecting with.
They welcomed me in and it really launched a number of years where I was showing up all the time, shooting races and doing interviews.
I took a break from the film in 2008.
It didn't have much direction back then.
It was very random very broad stroke You know on this canvas of a story that hadn't really developed and then in I worked on the smart studio story.
Hey,
Wendy
I'm going to stop you right there.
Let's pick up right there.
We got to do a really short break here and we will pick up.
You're not going to want to miss this, folks, because there's a really, this film is great and you want to hear what she says next because it's probably going to make you go watch the film.
This is Peach Wabbit Nightlight.
We're coming right back on the Civic Media Radio
Network.
What better song could we use for my current guest?
Because I didn't realize he said Wendy three times in the song, but you get to walk in the sun with Bruce Springsteen at the end of that song.
So that's pretty cool.
Yeah.
Why not?
Wendy Snyder is my guest.
She was in the middle of telling us about her film, Angels of Dirt and the Plot before we had to rudely interrupt her to get to a break.
So please continue,
Wendy.
I took a break from filming while I made the Smart Studio story and then picked up in 2016 and really, you know, had to merge together two very different stories of Angels of Dirt.
And so, you know, that took a while.
I had to raise money again.
I had to...
you know figure out a plan to release the film and in 2004 no 24 2024 it premiered at the wisconsin film festival
that was so fun i you know
I saw that at the Barrymore, I think, is where you premiered it.
And it was so fun to watch it on the big screen like that.
Same place I saw a Smart Studio story, probably eight years before that, and got to interview you and Butch and Steve on stage, which was a blast.
So, all right, so people can see this.
Go to angelsofdirt.com.
There's a promo code.
You can get a discount if you want to watch this riveting documentary about this flat track racer named Charlotte.
Did you do a spoiler or can you tell people what happens or?
I
feel like, you know, it's a journey to film and it's a journey about, you know, one woman's life, but also it's a gateway to a community and a sport that not a lot of people know about.
So I think, you know, watch the film because it's, you know, it's heartbreaking and it's powerful in a lot of ways to...
You know to learn about Charlotte and the the path that she took but also to to get a nod You know or to have you not really gonna not but you know the other women that are in the film or the history of the sport told through stories by you know legends like Mert Lawill who was in on any Sunday and and other participants it's a bit of a Carnival ride, I would say yeah, yeah, so
I would say there's a lot out on the film.
You can read the full synopsis.
But I think I want to draw people into just being open-minded and going down the rabbit hole of Angels of Dirt, if that makes any sense.
So tell us again what the promo code is.
If they go to angelsofdirt.com, watch the movie, and then they enter in Schwabba 35.
Yep,
Schwabba 35, lowercase
S.
Lowercase
S. I would love to hear what people think of the film.
This is an early part of the film's journey.
I've been doing screenings for over a year and now the film is out there being experienced by people.
privately are in small groups and I'm really curious what that experience is like and it feels really good to be letting it go in that way to, you know, to not
be
attached to it.
I think, you know, we'll still do screenings.
I have a screening in Appleton coming up.
I have another screening in Pittsburgh that I'm setting up for I think the spring, but it's really nice that more people everywhere, anywhere can watch Angels of Dirt.
Absolutely.
You have a definite style with Angels of Dirt and with Smart Studio Story.
It's a very big energy and did you have an influence from a documentarian standpoint or is this something you just kind of learned on your own?
I
think that it's hard for me to produce long-form work.
I think that my projects
When I do them are segments that I tie together.
Usually when I'm working on a film, the rough cut has all these dips to black because I'm just doing these like scenes.
There's a lot of scenes.
Smart Studios was like that.
Angels of Dirt was like that.
So I think that's more my style because I didn't.
you know, go to school to be a doc filmmaker.
I became a media producer working for a company in New York under a man named, whose name is Chris Drury, who really taught me about the strength of understanding who the audience was and navigating the emotional weight of a message or of a story.
And so I feel like that influenced me greatly.
I started working for him right out of high school.
At 17, I was working in New York for Chris.
At 25, I moved to Madison, and then I started, you know, going to school, but then I opened my studio, and I was working at SMART.
So, you know, I think that my messaging does involve dynamics, like emotional dynamics are important.
I wrote all the music for Angels of Dirt, and that was how I contributed to the story being told emotionally, and that's why my band's probably not playing out.
right now because my energy went elsewhere.
Yeah.
And I do want to say like before we wrap up your segment what I'm learning about now as a filmmaker is this new tax incentive that Governor Ewers has signed.
So filmmakers.
and film companies, you know, should look into the tax, the film incentive, the tax incentive for filmmakers.
They can go to Action Wisconsin, I believe.
It's really early in its, in how people are communicating about it, but it's a really.
You know, I want to try and take advantage of that with my next project.
It's a great program.
And it's about time we have that.
We talked about that quite a bit on this show and had people from Action Wisconsin on.
And it's I'm so excited.
And I hope it brings more work here.
And I hope it gets Wisconsin filmmakers to stay here.
And I hope you make another film soon, Wendy, and come back and tell us about it next time.
Poetry, Madison, I'm so there.
OK.
All
right.
Swabba
35.
I'll give it another pitch next hour.
You got it.
Thank you so much, my friend.
Thank you.
Wendy Snyder, folks.
You too.
Thank you.
angelsofdirt.com and click watch now and enter in the promo code at Schwabba35 for a 35% discount.
It is a really fun film and she found a great leading lady to be in this film.
And like she said, there's just a lot going on and it's heartbreaking, but it's a great story.
Let's see if we can get through a couple texts here.
Oh, Wendy said Grace Jones for favorite female rocker, Mark from Prairie to Sack, was answering the last nice question too.
He says, Grace Jones, who was in the second Schwarzenegger Conan movie.
Well done, Mark.
We're coming right back for act two and our contest, our text to win contest.
It's Beach Wabba Night Light.
Broadcasting live from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.
This is Night Light with Pete Chwaba.
Your inside source on everything entertainment from Wisconsin to Hollywood.
And now, a guy who appreciates a nice hot meal at a fair price.
Pete Chwaba.
Welcome back to Night Light, ladies and gentlemen.
Kicking off hour number two here.
And what an hour it's going to be.
We've got Rich Lucasio coming up at 7.20.
He's got big news.
He's an on-air personality here at Civic Media.
He has news regarding that.
He's going to keep us up to date on wrestling.
He's also a wrestling ring announcer.
And we're going to give him one of our nightlife quizzes.
He's going to take a quiz about wrestling.
And I have no doubt he'll crush it, get it?
Rich, did you like that one?
Yeah, Rich is here in the building.
I'm talking.
He's two rooms away.
I'm still talking to him.
And in just a few minutes, we'll have David Grant here from WMAX.
They're doing a really, really cool contest down there.
And David is going to tell us all about it.
It's not a contest, actually.
It's sort of an event, I would say.
where they are doing a fun event where listeners take over the airwaves and all the proceeds go to Hope House.
So we'll talk to David about that in just a few minutes after we recap our number one here and tell you about our text-to-win contest.
Our question tonight is, in honor of the boss's 76th birthday, what is your favorite Bruce Springsteen song?
I said, dancing in the dark, reason to believe.
and all of his other songs.
I have an entire catalog tied for first place.
So you can be a little more specific if you like, folks.
But
let us
know.
We also talked about Conrad had a really weird Instagram message.
We'll get back to that at some point.
And we are playing catch up on texts from this week, folks.
We've had such a busy week here at Night Light.
We finally got through all of our texts from last night, just last hour.
And we'll read a few Bruce Springsteen texts here in a few minutes before we bring David on.
But right now, I'm going to tell you
all about our very cool text-to-win contest here.
That's our go for the green and gold text-to-win multi-state contest, ladies and gentlemen.
The last contest was statewide.
This is a multi-state text-to-win contest as civic media continues to grow.
You can, and this is cool too, the prizes, I mean, am I crazy, Conrad?
I'm not like bashing our former...
Contest but this is about this 200 bucks in cash and gold jewelry every day.
No, it's awesome That's the daily price folks.
Here's the one stipulation You have to have the civic media app to play that's all you need and it's a free download and if you don't already have it You should get it.
It's very easy to take all your civic media hosts and shows with you wherever you go And you just text in the keyword on the app It's very easy to do and then you are qualified to win 200 bucks in cash and gold jewelry every day and doing that
automatically enters you in the grand prize, and this contest's grand prize, our two club level indoor seats to Green Bay versus Minnesota.
We're talking football here, folks.
It's a Green Bay home game, November 23rd at 12 noon.
We're throwing in a gas card and we'll even get you there.
So it is like a $1,500 plus value.
Outstanding stuff.
I'm gonna give you the keyword right before this upcoming break, before we bring Rich LaCassio on.
And I will do that shortly, but be part of the fun.
Good luck, everybody.
Key word coming up in just a few.
Conrad, do we have David?
Yes, we do.
He's on the street.
You have to be kidding.
Do we have... All right, I need my... David, are you there?
I
am.
How are you doing
tonight?
This is a real treat.
We've got...
David Grant here, ladies and gentlemen, from WMAX in Baraboo, part of the Civic Media family.
How are you?
Are you up past your bedtime, David, being a morning radio guy?
You know, it's getting to that point real closely because, you know, we start our day somewhere between 4.30 and 5.
Be ready to go at 6 AM in the studio.
And tomorrow morning, we're getting up even earlier for this big event.
All right.
That is so cool.
Okay, so I love this event It's max FM purple Thursday Hope House radio requestathon that is taking place this Thursday You're kind of pitching it like you're letting the listeners take over the airwaves.
Can you explain that?
so that's exactly what's going to happen we have a link on max.fm website right now if you click on the whole post request to find there's a link to donate the cool part is when you make that donation you get to request a song a minimum $5 donation gets your request on the air a $10 more donation you can do a dedication if you don't like what's on there you can do a minimum $25 donation to bump that song play yours immediately last year it got a little bit
the
They're the only domestic violence shelter in a five county area that lost a lot of federal funding.
So we've set a lofty goal to raise $5,000 between 7am and 4pm tomorrow.
That is so great.
Hope House, for those of you that don't know, serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking.
It's a great cause and it's tomorrow.
The goal is five grand.
I would imagine once people start bumping songs, it's like a poker.
pot where it just keeps growing and growing.
It's like cha-ching.
Have you done this in the past?
Yes.
So we got, this is our fourth annual Hope House request, radio request.
Before we did this, we originally were doing a donation drive and we did that outside.
We did some broadcasting outside live.
Every year, the weather was absolutely horrible for this.
It was raining.
One year was almost snowing when we were outside.
And we said, okay, we got to find a better way to do this, a better way to help Hope House.
40 years ago, we came up with this idea, let's do a radio request to find it.
It's just kept growing from there.
Last year, we had a $3,500 goal.
We met and exceeded that.
And so this year, we sweetened
the pot
a little bit.
We said, we want to hit $5,000.
And our morning show hosts are going to do something absolutely crazy if we hit that goal.
Well, if you don't live in the Baraboo area, folks, there's a very easy way to follow this contest via the app, correct, David?
Yes, most certainly download that free civic media app on your mobile device.
You can stream us with you wherever you go.
You can listen to everything that's happening.
Just look for 997 Max FM, tap back some mouse, hit that stream button and you can participate.
And you also, you know, you're gonna need that app anyways, because you know, some key words for that go for the green and gold contest.
I'm not going to spoil it.
I know what the word is, but I won't let the cat out of the bag on that one.
But
I'm going to drop in just a few minutes.
So I appreciate you not spoil
So all right, there's an added stipulation to here.
I think this is kind of cool what you and Emily are doing.
If you reach your $5,000 goal, your $5,000 goal, what happens then?
So we've agreed to get our fingernails painted purple.
by a professional.
And we're going to get our hair dyed purple before October 30 or October 23 to support Hope House of South Central Wisconsin at their Purple Thursday event.
And we even got our intern in on this today.
He's agreed to go from a blonde to dye his hair purple as well.
It's been with us for three days.
We've already drug the intern into this too.
He wants to impress.
He's trying to get ahead, right?
Good for him.
Right.
My guest is David Grant.
He is the morning host and station manager of WMAX in Baraboo.
Tomorrow, you could take over the radio airwaves, all the money that you donate via your request, or if you want to not hear a song that's on the radio, you can make a request for 25 bucks.
They'll bump the song that's on and play yours.
It all goes to Hope House.
And it sounds like it's an absolutely fantastic, just for a good cause.
And it sounds like it's a lot of fun.
You guys must have a blast with it.
this.
we do that day goes by so fast.
We have so much fun with this because you never know what you're going to hear.
One year we had someone playing Christmas music, and then another family member was bumping the Christmas music off from the same household.
And they went back and forth for about 20 minutes on that.
One year we had polka on there as well.
So there's a very good chance if you tune into 99 seven max FM and bear with Mara or via the free so media app, you might even hear a polka song or two on there as well.
We play
almost anything within reason.
Now, you know, it's funny, I was talking to Rich a little bit earlier, he goes, Well, is there any stipulations?
I'm like, Yeah, no nine minute songs.
Rich, he's like, Oh, so we, you know, so we have a few rules, we'll play a few minutes of it, but we're not gonna play all nine minutes, because we want to get all those requests in between seven and four and we go later if needed last year, we went until almost 6pm.
So you can imagine being on air from six in the morning.
till six at night, what that would be like.
You can't even like, I would imagine with those polka songs, you can't even get another song going before the polka songs over those are like 90 seconds.
Yeah, they are and then we're of course dancing around in studio during all this as well.
So there's a lot of shenanigans that go on with that part of it.
We actually set up some of our live streaming equipment and we have that tested.
We'll do a little bit of live streaming from the Max FM Studio tomorrow morning as well for the first time ever as well.
I love it.
I think it's great.
I hope we can send some of our listeners your way.
I hope it's a big success.
David, it's been great to get to know you on the air.
Let's do this again soon.
It sounds like a great thing.
Good luck with it.
Yes, thank you so much.
Thanks for having me on today.
It's finally good to get on here as well.
Anytime.
Let's do it again.
Yeah, let's do it.
I'm available anytime you want me.
Same.
All right.
Thank you so much, ladies and gentlemen.
That is David Grant.
Check out tomorrow all day from 7 AM to 4 PM.
It's the Max FM Purple Thursday Hope House radio requestathon.
Be part of it and give to a good cause.
Great stuff.
Con, let's catch up on some texts here, shall we?
I agree.
Let's do it.
It's time.
All right.
How did you do I have?
Okay, here we go.
So I'm about to give the keyword folks before we go to the break.
I will give you the keyword in our
Go for the green and gold text to win multi-state contest here at Civic Media.
We've got our question of the night is, what is your favorite Bruce Springsteen song?
The boss turns 76 this week.
Is he five?
He's like five years younger than my dad.
How old is your dad, Conn?
He's in his very late 30s.
Conrad, not indulging me at all.
So I'll read your dad's text first.
Steve from Florida, that's Conrad's dad, says, favorite Bruce Springsteen songs, Born to Run and Born in the USA.
He likes the born songs.
Yes, he does.
Those are both outstanding songs.
Steve, if you're you really want to hear a great version of born in the USA, Bruce Springsteen in Barcelona, it's from like 2009, maybe just outstanding.
And he makes Max the drummer work like it's like a 10 minute run.
So he's like going to keel over afterwards.
BJ from La Crosse says
I don't see BJ's text, never mind.
Jim from Appleton, he's in the 920, says my favorite Springsteen song is Factory The Working Life.
It's an absolutely perfect description of life before NAFTA.
Boy, I forgot about that song, Jim.
I will have to look for that.
Thank you, sir.
Rick from Madison in the 608 says, tunnel of love, love tunnel of love and a love when he sings it with Patty.
Man meets woman and they fall in love.
ought to be easy ought to be simple enough.
Great tune.
Great lyrics.
Well done, Rick.
Mark from Prairie to Sack.
Oh, we already read Mark's.
Edward says, glory days or brilliant disguise, sublime lyrics.
Brilliant disguise.
My favorite lyric and brilliant disguise is God have mercy on the man who doubts what he's sure of.
Just a brilliant, brilliant lyrics and brilliant disguise.
Troy from Madison in the 608 says, any version of Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen.
is great.
I agree, Troy, outstanding.
Thunder Road, check it out.
If you really want a great version of Thunder Road, he sings with Melissa Etheridge on the David Letterman show, probably around the year 2000.
And she brings him out because he's like her idol.
And it's just an excellent, excellent version of the song.
Oh, here's Edward again.
God have mercy on the man who doubts what he sure of.
There you go.
Last verse in brilliant disguise.
We are Kindred Spirits, Edward.
Thank you, sir.
John from Madison in the 608 says, I'm on fire.
It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
It's something special for me.
Totally agree.
John, keep those Springsteen songs coming, folks.
He is 76.
Tonight's keyword.
Do I have time or should I wait for after the break?
After the break?
We'll do it right after the break, folks.
I promise.
This is Pete Schwabba in Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio Network.
I
don't sing often on the show.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Oh,
it's a good
thing for Rich, believe me.
That is the voice of Rich Lacasio.
We are prepared to have some fun with Rich.
But first, I'm going to give you the statewide, our, no, the statewide, our multi-state go for the green and gold text to win contest, folks.
It goes through October 3rd.
Great prizes.
The daily prize is 200 bucks cash and gold jewelry.
If you text in on the app tonight's keyword, you are eligible to win 200 bucks in cash, gold jewelry and the grand prize to club level indoor seats to Green Bay versus Minnesota.
It's a Green Bay home game.
The green and gold versus Conrad.
The purple people,
purple people
eaters.
That's November 23rd at noon.
We're throwing in a gas card to get you to the game.
It's 500 and it's a $1,500 and $50 value.
And here is tonight's keyword.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is yellow W. I'm sorry.
What?
What is the matter with me?
Yellow.
Y-E-L-L-O-W.
Y-E.
L-L-O-W text in the keyword yellow and you are in the contest.
Good luck, everybody.
And I want to tell you something else.
When you get a confirmation text back, you can click on the link.
And if you sign up for Civic Media today, the Civic Media newsletter, what do you got, Conrad?
Social media,
Facebook accounts.
Yeah.
You heighten your chance to win.
So do that and join us here at Civic Media and give yourself an even better chance to win $200 in gold jewelry or...
the grand prize.
So good luck, everybody.
All right.
This is exciting, folks.
I am very excited.
When Rich LoCasio tells me he's going to be in town, what do I do, Rich?
What do I say?
Ask me why?
Yeah, that's what I
really what's
going on after that
We're gonna be seeing a lot more of me
I know
so
let's start with that
all right
start with your big news here.
You've been on WRJN on the weekends spinning the tunes on air You got a great voice
and it's been so much fun to just the timeless hits late 50s 60s early 70s and The right opportunity came along and obviously still sticking with the civic media network
But now I get to go up to I-43 and back every weekend.
I know, right?
My car is thanking me every weekend, by the way, too.
But I am a regular personality from 1 to 6 PM every Saturday right here on 97.9 WGBW.
Timeless hits.
Timeless hits.
And local
news.
And that is Outstanding Rich Lucasio.
Welcome to the WGBW family.
Thank you.
Very
excited to
have you.
Thank you.
Just clean up after yourself in the kitchen.
Oh, that's
not a problem for me.
You do
have two showers here.
Yeah.
You got to bring your own soap.
That's not a problem for me.
Okay.
You use soap though, right?
Yeah.
Do you
anticipate using one of the showers here?
What gave you the indication that I didn't?
Now, you're always very well put together.
I love the shirt, by the way.
Thank you for watching on the stream.
And I know Dave is because Dave told me his favorite Springsteen song was Jungle Land and he also added the river on the live album.
Those are both great.
Daniel Berry Sports Highlight says, Hey, everyone, happy Wednesday.
Happy Wednesday to you, Daniel.
And happy Wednesday to Rich Lucassio.
Thank you.
So you're on here at WGBW Saturday afternoons from one to six.
That's right.
OK.
Is that your kind of music?
Is that the kind of music you typically listen to?
This is the music I grew up with.
So it's very near and dear to my heart, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond, Frankie Valley in the Four Seasons.
Like it's just, it is timeless.
It's the perfect word for it.
Yeah, that's outstanding.
And you can't go, I was talking to Dan Marcus on the show like three weeks ago.
And I said,
it's almost not fair because every, every song you play on an oldie station.
has been a hit.
There's no dead weight you have to sift through to get to your favorite songs.
They're like all your favorite songs.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Exactly.
If they put you in such a good mood too.
Right.
Absolutely.
They make me want to speed in my car.
And if I hear the Beach Boys,
that's trouble.
Which song specifically?
You know what?
Lately, I get around.
Town to town
just a fun.
Yeah, but all my classics are like God only knows
yeah
vibrations When I grew up to be a man,
that's a great.
Don't worry, baby.
Yes, they
have no Even sloop John B is a fun song like I love them all, you know We used to talk about Beach Boys or the Beatles and Cuz we didn't know the impact either band had it was always everybody was a Beatles fan and I like the Beatles But I tended to lean more toward the Beach Boys sure
And when I got older, people laugh at you, oh, the Beatles were cool.
And then I learned that like Pet Sounds is like one of the most critically acclaimed
albums
and that Brian Wilson was a genius.
So I
was, I was kind of right when I was in like second grade, Rich.
Yeah.
I wasn't around that.
That's the tricky part to this.
I wasn't around at that time.
I wasn't born until 1984 when Bruce Springsteen's biggest album, Born in the USA, came out.
Lucky you.
Yeah, I know.
So I have a little bit of time working against me on that front, but it is just so much fun.
And I'm always getting a musical education, not just from Dan Marcus, but also from Chris Morrow.
Yeah.
And Rick Johnson, Terry Havel, a radio legend, Lou Ragani.
Oh, my gosh.
And I'm always asking them about like, you know, I'll throw something out there and they'll either tell me, yeah, that's a good one.
Or I have never heard of that before, Rich.
What are you thinking?
Hey, let's do this because you're from New Jersey.
That's right.
You're a Jersey boy.
Yeah.
What is your, and I know you're not the biggest Springsteen fan and that's fine, but you gotta have a favorite
Springsteen.
I do.
So it's probably one that hasn't been mentioned yet, Cover Me, which is off of Born in the USA.
Oh, Great Song, yeah.
Yeah.
Great song.
I love that song.
I also, I forgot about this and I meant to send this to Yukon, but I totally forgot.
God, it's the one I play on my guitar all the time.
What is it?
It's a same album.
I'm on fire?
No,
I need to
break for the, I always get it confused with other songs.
All right, I'm gonna find out.
And we're going to do this.
Rich LeCasio is here.
We have a wrestling quiz for him, folks.
He's
also going to
keep us up to date on what's going on with this ESPN WWE merger.
Big news.
That's fun.
And then we'll talk about wrestlers as actors.
Lots coming up with our pal Rich LeCasio, who is chilling in Green Bay tonight.
And you can hear him moving forward on Saturday afternoons here on WGBW from one to six.
We're coming right back.
This is Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media Radio Network.
Because it's never been be-
That's a great version of that song Thunder Road Bruce Springsteen and Melissa Etheridge David Letterman several many many years ago great stuff and
All right, so we are in the home stretch here.
Our pal, Rich Lucasio is in Green Bay, and you can hear him moving forward here on WGBW Saturday afternoons from one to six, spinning
the
oldies, just like you do in Racine,
and
you do such a great job at it, Rich.
Thank
you.
So that's exciting.
And also, you've got some wrestling stuff coming up.
I wanted
to
ask you, on the phone earlier, you said that ESPN and the WWE have an agreement, but
it's
kind of controversial.
Why
is that?
It's controversial in the fact that it just came up like out of nowhere.
It was just like three weeks before this most recent premium live event.
They're like, oh, WWE has launched a partnership with ESPN.
And moving forward, the WWE premium live events will be streaming on the ESPN app.
And it caught everybody completely off guard and obviously the price of the app and everything.
And the interesting thing about it, and I'm willing to admit this, I know this is not a great selling point for professional wrestling, but the show itself was mostly average.
Huh.
So that it doesn't mean that they're all going to be average.
I mean, believe me, I've been watching wrestling now for over 25 years.
I've seen some doozies of pay-per-views and premium live events, but it's you don't know until you watch it.
Right.
So.
I know I'm not not the best sales pitch for professional wrestling for those casual
fans out there.
But I mean ESPN seems like a decent home for
it.
Yeah.
I mean
there's been a little intersection over the years but not much.
I remember back in the day AWA used to be on ESPN.
this is like Baron Von Rasky and Jesse the body of Ventura and Hulk Hogan before Hulkamania and Frankie the Thumper DeFalco just guys like that.
AWA on ESPN.
Now it's now you have one of the largest if not the largest professional wrestling organization in the WWE on ESPN as far as their premium live events are concerned.
Wow.
So what is the last thing or what do you have?
Have you been to one of these events recently or do you have plans to go to one in the near future?
I am more focused now, and this is not a knock against WWE or what All Elite Wrestling is doing, but I love, absolutely love working with this.
independent wrestling promotions.
So I work primarily, I'm the full-time ring announcer for a promotion.
It's actually a training school in Butler, Wisconsin.
It's called House of Headlocks.
Really?
So their next show, Saturday, October the 11th, it's gonna be called Wild Style.
And it's the tournament finals to crown the first ever House of Headlocks social media champion.
Oh my gosh.
And the belt is absolutely beautiful.
Purple strap.
It's got emojis on the shield.
It's really classy and it's really cool.
So how do they do that?
How do they teach like that stuff?
Well, I never went through the process of, you know, being a professional wrestler.
Right.
My mother wouldn't sign the permission slip.
But, you know, I've been groomed by some of the best here in Wisconsin.
My mentor, Scott Williams,
is a member of the Wisconsin Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.
And, you know, he said, you know what, you can do this.
I'm like, can I?
He's like, yeah, you can do this.
There's a charity event in West Bend.
Go do that.
You got this.
This is what I do.
You can do that.
Yeah, I can do that.
We'll go do that then.
Well, you're also a wrestling announcer.
I think that's a safer line of work and probably that you could do more into your later years.
Yeah.
Now, I do get upset sometimes when, well, wrestlers will come up to me and they'll disrespect me or tear the microphone out of my hand.
There was actually an incident happened a couple months ago where I got really really mad because basically these two are pouting like It shouldn't have gone to a time limit draw.
This isn't fair.
I'm obviously, you know over exaggerating this a little bit adding the voice Yeah, I'm adding the voice, but I was mad like like you're disrespecting me I am sick and tired of these petulant children basically disrespecting me and putting their fingers in my face
But I like the fact that you guys want to fight still.
So this is what we're going to do.
I'm making an executive decision.
So that's great.
That actually set up the main event for last month's show, this month's show
actually.
Okay.
And you, you know, you gave me my
wrestling nickname.
The Pine Tree Mauler.
I think we should come back with that con after.
Now I have a question about that because I mean, obviously the drive up here I 43 I saw plenty of pine trees.
So
Are you just eliminating specific pine trees or are you focusing on a specific region of like, um, are you going to like state parks or state forests and just, oh, that one looks good.
And then just going to town on it or does that work?
It's
more of a general pine tree nickname, I think.
Okay.
Maybe a white pine.
That's what they used to make the Grand Hotel.
Interesting.
Is that what you were asking me?
No.
Is it the name a nod to the Pine Tree Mall?
Or an actual pine tree.
Okay, I see what you're saying.
It's a play
on words.
Oh yeah, of course.
But the Pine Tree Mall is in Marinette.
That's what it's called.
Yeah.
And there are a lot of pine trees around Marinette.
And you know, I like pine trees.
Yeah.
So.
So why
disrespect the pine trees?
But
am I
doing it or am I paying homage if I'm the pine tree mauler?
I know it sounds like I'm mauling pine trees.
It does sound like you're mauling pine trees.
That's why I'm asking that question.
I don't know, Rich.
Geez, I didn't know you're going to get on here in the air with me and play lawyer ball the entire time.
It's not an interrogation,
I promise.
We're
good friends, you know.
It
sure sounds like an interrogation.
Now, I know you're going to put me to the test now.
We are.
But first, I have to ask you, you mentioned something on the phone earlier, the Green Bay Monday Night Raw.
That was yeah, it was just over two weeks ago.
So how does wrestling go over in green band?
What do they do like at the rest
at the rest
center?
Oh, wow.
Yeah, it's
been cool
I mean you packed that place 15,000 people and you got all the pyro you got all the stars And it is so much fun.
It is so much fun to be a part of money night raw or Friday nights back down or a premium live event
And it's an experience.
Yeah.
Now the one I will say this again, not this is not the best sales pitch for professional wrestling.
But another controversy is the pricing for WrestleMania 42 just came out and it is obscenely overpriced.
Obscenely like front row tickets for both nights of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas is somewhere going to be around $9,000 for both.
It's for both nights.
But then that's even before it gets onto the second hand market as far as you know people buying up the tickets and then selling them for more
nine grand
nine thousand dollars So
who and who how many tickets is that?
one for both nights
So if you and the missus want to check out some wrestling It's gonna run you 18 grand,
but we're talking about the creme de la creme WrestleMania much for the nosebleeds
less than that, obviously, but a fraction of that, but still more than, I mean, for the nosebleeds, like you can pack a lot of people in these different venues that they've been putting WrestleMania's in.
So they had it at Allegiant Stadium this year.
They're going to have it at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next year.
And they just made the announcement they're going to have it in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the first time outside of North America, WrestleMania 43 in 2027.
Rich Lucasio
is my guest.
He is joining me in studio here in Green Bay where he is about to start spinning tunes on Saturday afternoons from 1 to 6 p.m.
Here at this station at WGBW we always love having Rich in town and on the air and for those of you playing the contest I'm gonna give the keyword again right before the break coming up here in just a few minutes so stick around if you have not if you didn't hear the first announcement of tonight's keyword for our text to win
multi-state contest here at Civic Media.
So you feel like taking a quiz, Rich?
Absolutely.
All right.
Let's do
this.
You ready?
Oh, yeah.
All right.
For those of you who just got texted, we will do our best to get to them.
So keep those coming, too.
Your favorite Bruce Springsteen song.
All right.
So number one, this is the Night Lights WWE or just a wrestling quiz, Khan.
It's WWE.
WWE.
OK.
Right up your alley.
Yeah.
All right, number one night light WWE quiz WGBW on it's too many letters, which will cast you taking our Wrestling ring announcer to take it our quiz number one who won the first ever Elimination Chamber match in 2002.
Was it a Shawn Michaels be triple H see Peter Schwabler or
D Kane?
That's a great question.
I know that
That was for the undisputed WWE Championship Survivor Series 2002.
That was Shawn Michaels.
Wow, well done.
Who's the snowboarder?
That's I thought that
was a snowboard
hearing you were throwing on there.
Isn't that isn't that that's the flying tomato?
Isn't that Shawn Michaels?
No.
The flying
tomato.
You guys don't know that guy is?
No.
He was like the first gold medal.
Shawn White.
Shawn White.
No.
Michael's White.
Come on.
All right.
Number two.
Nightlight WWE quiz.
Rich the Casio one for one at WrestleMania 20 in 2004.
Who won the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event?
Was it a triple H?
I'm not answering do.
Yeah, I know he's probably in utero.
No, he's probably that makes me feel old because I remember watching Russell media 20 live on pay per view.
That
was Chris Benoit.
Very well done.
Rich is two for two, ladies and gentlemen.
All right, question number three.
In what year did John Cena win his first WWE Championship?
Was it A, 2025?
B, 2005?
C, 1947?
Or D, he's got back from World War II and strapped down the onesie.
Or D, 2007?
Well, I know a lot of people say that John Cena is the greatest of all time, 17-time world champion.
Nobody's ever done that.
So we can roll out 1947.
But I do know for a fact that was at WrestleMania 21 against John Bradshaw Layfield.
That was in 2005.
B.
Very well done.
Oh, Conrad, this is embarrassing.
You know, Kristen Lyrely got 100% last night, didn't she?
No, she missed one.
Did she miss one?
No, she didn't.
She did not miss
one.
She did not miss one.
She was perfect.
Now Rich is
about to do the same.
Okay.
Number four, who ended the Undertaker's WrestleMania streak?
Was it A, the overtaker?
Well done Conrad.
B. Brock Lesnar C triple H or D. Bray Wyatt.
So I'll answer that question by saying this is the man that absolutely destroyed John Cena this past Saturday at Russell Palooza.
That would be Brock Lesnar.
Wow.
He's
still out there,
huh?
He is.
He took a bit of a hiatus by MMA.
Yeah, he former IWGP champion, UFC heavyweight champion.
You know, I'm not messing with Proclester.
He's somebody you don't want to trifle with.
Look, even if he lost, it's even worse if he loses, but that doesn't happen often.
Number five, Rich is four for four, folks.
Number five, which tag team won the inaugural women's tag team championship in 2019?
Was it A, the Iconics, B, Sasha Banks and Bailey?
D. Chloe and Caitlyn Jenner.
D. Natalya and Beth Phoenix.
Well, I'm not going to answer C, but would you pay to CC?
Yeah, I would.
OK.
The
Catholic winner against his stepdaughter.
Or is that his real daughter?
That's
a stepdaughter, right?
I
don't know.
Conrad, you were serious about multiple
choice.
That is Bailey
and Sasha Banks.
Wow.
I like how Rich just kind of toys with us.
He takes his time and he's like, well, here's the thing about that.
I'm very methodical.
I've always been like that.
Number six, who was the first ever universal champion?
Was it A, Roman Reigns, B, Seth Rollins, C, Finn Balor, D, Logan Paul.
I know we're going to be heading up to a break, so I'll answer this quickly.
It is Finn Balor.
Very well done, Rich.
Let's try to get
one more.
With the red strap, by the way.
I remember that.
They had the red strap.
Well, you can explain that to us after the break.
It's
like a piece of licorice, but they changed that over time.
Well, it was a red strap, and then it was a blue strap.
And then they're like, no, let's just make it black.
And just it looks cool with black and gold.
We'll be right
more.
We'll be right back with more Strap Talk here on Nightlight with Pete Schwab, where we're coming right back.
really fun night here at Nightlight tonight, our Wednesday edition.
I am Pete Schwab.
It is great to have you with me.
It's been great to have you with me all night.
Sydney dropped us a stream comment and said, as a dedicated stream watcher, I demand to know if those chairs back there are ever set in.
You know,
I'll say this as I record a lot of shows for for the network on the weekend, you know,
We only use those to take pictures.
Take pictures,
yeah.
I've sat there a few times just to chill, but they're not sure.
That's a great point, Sidney, or a great question.
Vince Moranto, responding to our Bruce Springsteen question, says, wow, hard to pick, but the river lyrics, and of course, musically, is one of the most realistic accounts of life.
Great point, Vince.
Now all those things that seem so important, well, Mr. They just vanished right into the air.
I just act like I don't remember and Mary acts like she don't care.
And is a dream a lie if it don't come true?
Or is it something worse that sends me down to the river?
Though I know the river is dry.
I'm literally tearing up just typing this.
That is a great text, Vince.
A for effort, buddy.
Thank you very much.
And Bridget says,
Born to Run, my favorite.
Great storytelling of youth and hope.
The instruments are amazing and how they change throughout the song.
Bruce sings it with such heart.
Thank you, Bridget from the 818.
We're almost caught up in texts, but we got Richard Cascio here.
I'm distracting you.
An executive decision.
You have a surprise for me.
I kind of know what the surprise is now, but please.
This is so funny.
You will
never guess what I
found.
And four copies.
Four copies.
And it is the special edition for all four copies.
OK, the special edition.
I think I did commentary or they showed interviews.
This is a guy thing, folks.
We talk about the Godfather of Green Bay on this show sometimes because I wrote it and directed it.
But this film with MGM, I co-wrote with my writing partner, Greg Leanna, and we got replaced as writers.
We have fired, if you will.
by two very fine writers named Matt Tarsis and Bill Robel, who went on to do other great things in TV.
But the movie, you liked it?
I loved it.
Where did you find four copies?
Rummage sales, goodwill.
I think somebody gave one to me, like, oh, you know that guy?
Here,
here, do you take that?
You're supposed to say, on eBay, I outbid somebody and it cost me 200 bucks.
These are very hard to find.
Now,
this does say special edition, so
at least
give me a little bit of credit for finding those,
but is there
like an ultra-special edition or a letterbox copy or a criterion collection that I should be looking for?
I don't know because I've never watched it.
I mean, I watched the movie a lot when it came out, but it's good.
There's very funny moments in this.
Yeah, absolutely.
When Jason Lee calls and he's double checking and the guy at the store covers for his story.
Yeah.
When the girl finds underpants and is.
The the pharmacist who becomes a chef later on in the film, that was hysterical.
All right, I'm very proud of that because that was my that was my contribution to the first part of our script.
And he he cooked something.
It was raw chicken.
And he didn't know what he was doing, but they offered him 500 bucks to cook.
She thought he was a chef or something, I think.
And he was like, oh, 500 bucks.
I could detail my van or something.
So he takes the gig.
And it's just crazy.
But it was fun.
That was a guy thing, folks.
Check it out.
Lots of places you could probably or swing by the studio.
We've got extra copies here.
Thanks to our pal, Rich.
All right, can we get three more questions?
And I think we can do that here.
Rich is taking our Nightlight WWE quiz and crushing it.
Oh, and I've got to give the keyword one last time.
If you have the app open tonight's keyword is yellow.
Y-E-L-L-O-W.
Y-E-L-L-O-W, yellow.
That is tonight's keyword.
Text that in on the app and you are entered to win in the Civic Media Go for the green and gold text to win contest.
200 bucks and gold jewelry is the daily prize.
And if you text in the keyword tonight, you're automatically entered into the grand prize, which is two club level indoor seats to
Green Bay versus Minnesota Conrad the green and gold versus purple people eaters well done and It's a home game on November 23rd at 12 noon.
Great stuff.
Good luck everybody All right, Rich Luccasio.
All right, where is my uh, did I throw up to quit?
No, here it is I think
you should just start at 12 and just go from there and see if we can
okay first Okay, great idea.
Okay number 12 and he is not missed who won the money in the bank 20
22 men's ladder match.
Sounds kind of erotic.

Love that name.
C. John.
Con.
That's Con Cena.
Con
Cena.
No, no typo.

I
literally put this right in front of him.
I wasn't looking.
I swear.
He doesn't want to cheat.
I don't want to cheat.
This person, Rich Lucassio, as ladies and gentlemen, you should be honored to tune in and listen to him here at WGBW.
Thank you.
The actual answer is 2024.
Oh, OK.
Dude, this has been fun.
Thank you so much.
Always a pleasure to be here.
Thank you.
It really is.
Condit, I get through all the text.
We've got a couple seconds here.
Let's try to get through.
Let's see if we can do this.
Rich LeCasio gave us his answer.
Conn and I gave ours.
And oh, that was in your text.
All right, tomorrow night.
Conn and I, who do we have tomorrow night on the show?
We got a very fun popcorn pick of the week guest.
Well, we have Jeopardy.
Ben Chan?
Oh, yeah.
Jeopardy champ.
And then we'll have Norm Kepesky for Appleton Cigar, folks.
That's coming up.
I'd like to thank Rich LeCasio, Wendy Schneider, David Grant.
Paul Krueger says it's hard to pick just one song.
I like Glory.
He's born in the USA and born to run.
Daniel from Anastasia says I love the song Streets of Philadelphia.
When Bruce wants to haunt you, he does it so well.
And AJ from the 608 favorite spring scene song is tougher than the rest.
We are caught up on text.
Ladies and gentlemen, we will see you tomorrow night on behalf of the lovable producer Conrad.
I'm Pete Schwabba saying good night
Wisconsin.
