I sang the song because even though I live in LA now, I'm basically a New Yorker at heart, having been raised and lived there for so long.
It was on an album she did called Superman.
That album had to be a very, very successful.
big selling album for Columbia Records and Barbra Streisand.
And he told me the story about that he was a young songwriter and the fact that I recorded that song impressed the record company, I guess?
Piano Man was two or three years before that and then all of a sudden that's the same guy who wrote this song Barbra Streisand did in New York State of Mind.
She really put me on the map as a songwriter.
And I was always very appreciative of that fact, because that's what I really considered myself before anything else was a songwriter.
It's a little intimidating to walk into a studio and know you're going to sing a duet with Barbara
Streisand.
He knocked me out.
I mean, the sound of his voice, you know, is so strong, so powerful, so full of emotion.
Her
voice sounds great.
She still sounds like a kid, almost.

So we were all ready to go to the airport, and Natalie's secretary calls at the door.
The hotel, we were at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
She says, I've changed your tickets to tomorrow morning.
That's why Miss Wood would like to take you and your wife home to dinner.
So my wife and I and Hope Lang was going with the producer who died in that most unfortunate accident.

It was a monumental day in our nation's history.
It was a significant day, and it was obviously, it changed my presidency.
I went from being a president that was primarily focused on domestic issues to a wartime president.
Something I never anticipated, nor something I ever wanted to be.
I started my morning off with a morning run.
And I can remember running on the golf course of this resort where I was staying.
And it was pretty dark.
And I'm sure some of the people associated with the hotel looked at the wind and saw these headlights illuminating a path for a runner saying, who is this nut out there running?
So I went for a good long run.
Got back and got my security briefing, and I remember clearly that of how normal it seemed.
I mean, I can't remember the exact topics, but there was nothing out of the ordinary.
And then went to the school to tout this curriculum.
It was all part of our plan to highlight education reform.
This just into our newsroom, a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center.

I had been notified that a plane had hit the World Trade Center.
At first, I thought it was a light aircraft.
And my reaction was, man, either the weather was bad or something extraordinary happened to the pilot.
I then...
inform some of my staff members to, you know, provide help to New York City, whatever help they needed to take care of this incident, and then walk into the classroom.
The
classroom was full of kids who were reading.
In the back of the classroom was a full press corps and staffers and some adults.
And I'm intently listening to the lesson.
I felt a presence behind me.
And Andy Card's Massachusetts accent was whispering in my ear, a second plane has hit the second tower.
America is under attack.

Three and two thirds innings nine runs a career high gave up five home runs.
Big question is, did he correct the things they needed correct?

This is a tough place to have a bounce back because this is a ballpark where the ball flies and it is a home run.
environment frankly it's a run scoring environment here at Great American Ballpark you know among the things that were talked a lot about in the aftermath of that start in Chicago was was he tipping his pitches and that is something you can do some self-scouting and hopefully make some corrections with but maybe the bigger issue there was pitch location and the Velo being down I mean 92 middle middle is something that when they're sitting fastball you're gonna probably get some damage done regardless of whether you're tipping pitches so I think the
There's multiple things that he can hopefully get corrected and I think just getting.
things going in the right direction for Kyle will do a lot for his confidence.
We forget he had given up just one earned run in 10 innings basically coming into that start against Chicago so hopefully he can get back more to that
version of Kyle Harrison.
Hopefully the Brewers offense shows up today against Kyle Singer.
Singer was or Brady Singer I should say.
Singer of seven scoreless innings the last time he faced the Brewers in this ballpark.
Easily his best start of the year when you look at what he's been able to do over the course of this season.
He's not had a great year overall.
He's been in innings.
for the Reds.
his last eight starts, he's given up at least three runs.
So hopefully that version of Brady singers on the mound here today, not the one that on June 22nd shut down this Brewers offense.
That was a nothing-nothing game.
The Brewers ended up winning in 10 innings two to one.
Brandon Woodruff went six score, struck out 10 that night here in Cincinnati.

You know mentally you just have to stay sharp You have to be mentally tough right now because it is it's a lot on their bodies and it's a lot when you're
attention is divided by all the things coming at you, your season, your next year, your contract.
These guys have a lot on their plate, so I sympathize with that.
But mentally, you've got to stay strong right now in relying on your teammates.
you know, hopefully keep going and, you know, again, best record in baseball and pretty remarkable for this group.
I'm really proud of them.
We talk a lot
about the pitching in this long stretch and that's to go without saying six man rotation, a short bullpen.
But for the offensive group too, I mean, it's a those guys are in there every single day.
Pitchers aren't in there every day, but those position players are.
They have a grind.
There's no question.
They get used to it.
They understand it.
And then if they're out of there too long, then they feel like they haven't had their good rhythm.
So there's a fine line, but it's no time for excuses or blame or things last night, and they're double rain out, if you will, or rain delay.
There's all sorts of things that these guys can rely on.
We really can't let them go there.
You just stay strong, keep playing as well as you can.
It's major league baseball.
Anybody can beat anybody.
You can go through a couple, two, three games of a drought and get right back on it.
And you've got to keep that encouragement.
You've got to keep that positive
going.

You may remember that starting the year with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Fisher hit 20 home runs.
before getting promoted to AA.
Well, coming into this six game series at home against Birmingham, he had hit 22 home runs with the Shuckers.
And that was leading all of professional baseball at the time when he went deep in the series opener on Tuesday to hit number 43.
Then after a homeless game on Wednesday, Fisher came to the plate in the bottom of the first inning on Thursday night with Braylon paint aboard trailing one nothing.

It's Fisher's minor league leading 44th Homer of the year, and that one was a line shot
off the bat at 107.
The only thing that could stop Fisher from hitting a home run then on Friday night was Mother Nature as the Shuckers were rained out and had to play a double header yesterday.
Fisher was walked three times in the opener of that twin bill and did not hit a home run, but in the first inning of game two, a three run blast gave him 45 home runs on the season.
The most long balls that any minor league player had hit this century was Ryan Howard when he was a Phillies prospect at 40s.
And then in the bottom of the fourth inning last night, Fisher came to the plate with the bases clear and worked a 3-2 counts.

Today we're going to focus on a T-Rat player who's been overshadowed a bit by some of the bigger name prospects like Fisher, Eric Batonty, and a
of course, Braylon Payne, but a 22 year old outfielder Luis Castillo out of the Dominican Republic has had a wonderful second season at the high level.
On Friday night in Beloit, Castillo came to the plate with a couple of men on base and set the tone for the evening.
