It's Wayne and Larry for the Green Bay Packers that you can hear on some of these civic media stations.
And Parker, that makes total sense.
They're the best.

I actually became a Wayne, Larry.
I knew of him.
when he was doing play-by-play for the Chicago Bears.
And I don't have his resume in front of me.
I think he did that for like eight or nine years, something like that.
I didn't realize he was with a different NFL team before that.
The Packers are actually the third NFL team in his long career of calling play-by-play, not just for football, but all kinds of other sports.
Anyway, I heard him in the late 80s, early 90s, when we lived in Milwaukee while Sherry was going to med school.
We'd sometimes, you know, hear a Bears game on
WGN if the Packers weren't playing.
And I thought, this guy's really good.
And I was just thrilled when he came to the Packers.
And, you know, that was that was the start of a long career.
He and Larry McCarron and the Rock have been calling games for a good long time.
And you totally see why in a national and informal national survey.
But it is.
It is very clear.
We like our radio announcers.
Alicia says, apparently Green Bay fans are also among the best looking.
I don't even know why that wasn't out.
I mean, that's
Pat.
I mean, the Beach Boys originally said I wish they all could be Wisconsin girls because, I mean, we've just got the best looking people.
in this.
It's the corn, it's the dairy, it's the cheese, it's the beer.
It all comes together and makes us all rather handsome and attractive in our own ways.
It's true.
If you have enough
I didn't think of it that way.
Yeah, that's a good point.
Maybe that's how the survey was taken at bar time when the beer goggles were on.
Maybe, I don't know.
I don't know.

Do you remember my telling the story a couple of weeks back about the furnace repair guy?
Oh, I remember.
And by concern that much like a check engine light that goes out just before you get to the dealership that the furnace wouldn't be doing the thing, but he waited until it did the thing and then he fixed it.
Yeah.
And I'm happy to say that it is still working.
It's still working like a charm.
But I mentioned it because yesterday I brought my vehicle into the mechanic because the check engine light had been on for a little over a week.
You know, and it was really, really cold during that time.
So I thought, well, maybe that's warming up, warming up or something like that.
And I set the appointment and as I get into the car to go down there, there's no check engine light.
no.
And I thought, okay, fine.
I'm going down anyway, because I had two other minor issues.
And that was fine.
Got it.
Got it all taken care of.
They said, oh, it was what they call a vapor lock leak or something like that.
Maybe if you don't turn your gas cap tight enough or something like that.
But my peeve is this.
They plug a little computer, you know, in to find out what what your
little car computer said the check engine light was their cars nowadays where they have indications for everything.
There's cars that'll tell you the PSI of each individual tire.
think my
Yeah.
So to have just a generic check engine light and not have a way to see what the deal is, is it just strikes me as wrong now.
because you have the ability, again, you don't have to have it that detailed, but you should be able to have a few extra indicators to give you a rough idea of it, because when you see check engine, you're like, this car is about to run off the road.
You know, like something out of the SNL's getting a gruber and blow up.
I don't know what's happening with this thing.
Or it could be the gas cap wasn't on.
Just quite right.
So yeah, there's my new thing.
Check engine lights that give you no other info.
That's a dumb light.

I think the guy, the guy that likened the new Coke controversy to the Second World War.
I have no idea what you're talking about.

All right.
Well, I'm glad that I could get that story out of the way without too much hyperbole.
Yes, me too.
I guess I have been accused.
Look, there are some people who are simply masters of hyperbole to the point where it is unbecoming.
And we have that right now in some of the headlines as I'm looking across here.
that I'll tell you about in just a sec.
But Alicia says on YouTube, yeah, my truck tells me the PSI of each tire, we definitely need some message for the check engine light, besides suddenly thinking the engine will blow up.
And now Tony's making my point here, he says you can plug in a reader and it'll tell you a code which tells you what's wrong.
Exactly.
So if it can do that, then why should I plug a reader and it just have a little screen or a little
something.
Scott and Madison text us, welcome to the right to repair movement where big corporations hide everything behind computers that they don't allow you to fix.
Amen, Scott.
Amen.
And this is something we've heard about a lot with farm equipment, most recently, that, you know, farmers are used to doing all kinds of repairs on on their machinery tractors and other things.
And it would not be that tough to say,
buy what I'm speaking in very general terms here.
But you should be able to buy one of these readers or whatever you want to call it and plug it in, you know, go pick it up yourself and plug it in.
But oh, no, no, no, you got to pick up the specialty, you know, reader or piece of equipment from the manufacturer at their price.
And I'm very happy to see ever so slowly of movement is building that make sure that corporations can't do that to their customers and can't
jerk them around.
So I'd love to see more of that.
So thanks for the comments.

But as I was saying, there there is a there's just something wrong with the president of the United States right now.
I wasn't really thrilled with the New York Times headline because again, they make it sound so clinical.
This is an actual New York Times headline.
Trump seizes on Rob Reiner's death to attack the Hollywood director.
The president attributed the killing of Rob Reiner and his wife to Trump derangement syndrome.
There was no indication that the couple's political beliefs were linked to their deaths.
I mean, that's just so clinical and I can just kind of imagine if one day Joe Biden posted something like that and the headline, the actual headline in the New York Times would be something like, mental health experts weigh in on whether Biden should consider stepping down.
And yet, we're not hearing any of that from some of the larger circles out there, especially when asked later in the day if he stood by those online comments, Trump said, well, I wasn't a fan of his at all.
He was a deranged person.
I thought he was very bad for our country.
Well, that said, boys and girls, the president himself is a deranged man.
He's also disgraced, twice impeached, a convicted felon adjudicated to be liable for sexual abuse and on and on.
And the question is raised, was he trying to be cute or clever?
Was he thinking that this was on par with the criticisms of Charlie Kirk?
We'll ask fellow Republicans and a growing number of them will tell you, no, that that was way over the line.
Here's Trump's former lawyer, Jenna Ellis, who's now a conservative radio host, who posted,
Then there was Sage Steele, a former ESPN host and an ally of Trump who posted online calling the president's post disappointing and said it's comments like this that take away from the countless great things Donald Trump does for America.
Congressman Thomas Massie, Republican of Kentucky, put on social media, regardless of how you feel about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered.
I guess my elected Republican colleagues, the VP and the White House staff, will just ignore it because they're afraid.
I challenge anyone to defend it.
Another one.
Congressman Loehler of New York, Republican.
This statement is so wrong, regardless of one's political views, no one should be subjected to violence, let alone at the hands of their own son.
It is a horrible tragedy that should engender sympathy and compassion from everyone in our country, period.
And coming back to what Congressman Massey said, he said, I guess my Republican colleagues will just ignore it.
I challenge anyone to defend it.
Well, needless to say, I trotted over to the social media posts for Wisconsin Congressman Derek Van Orden just to see because, again, if you recall, Derek Van Orden is all about getting people fired if they post anything that celebrates somebody else's death.
So the question I can tell from going through
There were no sympathetic posts from Derek Van Orden that I saw.
I saw lots of insults of other people.
Lots of name-calling of other people.
In other words, just a normal day for Derek Van Orden.
I would hope maybe later today we finally see the post where he calls on people to have Trump fired for posting something celebratory in the wake of somebody who'd been brutally murdered.
But I won't hold my breath.

Oh no, I'm gonna lose all my precious black ice.

It is, it's weird to think that this is just another beautiful fall morning.
You know, the fact that we're still technically in autumn.
We haven't even hit the first day of winter yet.
Although now with a couple of days of temperatures above freezing, there's already people that are thinking, oh, wait, are we going to have, you know, are we going to have a brown Christmas?
I don't really think we're in danger of that, but we are going to lose a little bit of the snow here.
Roger and Steven's point puts up on Facebook at Trump's presser yesterday.
He referred to himself in the third person after his deranged truthless post yesterday.
He is not well, writes Roger and see Tony also echoes Scott's sentiment.
about manufacturers make it so you have to take it to the dealership to use the right equipment to read the little computer.
It's really dumb and proprietary nonsense.
And as far as, you know, Derek Van Orden's attitude, Tony writes, absolutely shocking behavior.
And then sarcasm and parentheses after that.
All right, let's get on with some of the day's other headlines on this Tuesday, a couple out of the Wisconsin
headlines.
First off, a Wisconsin judge said on Monday that there is enough evidence to proceed to trial in a felony forgery case as part of the 2020 fake elector scheme involving an attorney and an aide to President Trump.
A Dane County judge ruled there was probable cause to proceed with 11 felony forgery charges against Jim Trupas
who was Trump's campaign attorney in Wisconsin and a former Dane County judge and Mike Roman, Trump's director of election day operations in 2020.
The charges relate to attempts to present a slate of Republican electors to Congress falsely claiming Trump had won Wisconsin in 2020, even though he actually lost Joe Biden.
Those who were charged claim they've committed no crime.
They were just trying to keep their options open in case a court ruled that Trump had actually won the state, even though there was no evidence to support that.
And the judge said communication from the defendants showed their intent to present as legitimate a certificate awarding Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes to Trump and was not a document to be accepted only if a court ruled that Trump won the state.
In other words, kids, that's a forgery.
And if you're wondering, well, what about the, the cheese bro guy?
Uh, there was also a former Trump attorney, Kenneth Chesbro.
His preliminary hearing was postponed amid questions about earlier statements that he made to prosecutors and whether they could be admitted at trial.
Oh, and by the way, Senator Ron Johnson has inserted himself into all this.
He has asked Trump's department of justice to try to have the judge removed from that case because that's what Ron Johnson does.
Trial also began yesterday for Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan with prosecutors claiming she knew what she was doing earlier this year when she directed an undocumented immigrant to exit the courtroom through a different door while federal agents were in the courthouse.
Video shows Dugan directing members of the arrest team toward the Chief Judge's office and she hasn't disputed that she led the man out of the courtroom.
The case hinges on whether she was intentionally trying to prevent his arrest.
or move their disruptive activity beyond the doors to her courtroom.
Two agents who didn't go to the Chief Judge's office had the opportunity to arrest the man as soon as he stepped into the public corridor, just steps away from the main courtroom door.
Instead, they followed him outside before trying to apprehend him.
The government's case is expected to run through Thursday with roughly two dozen witnesses expected to testify.
And by the way, Congressman Tom Tiffany, a Trump loyalist running for governor, has urged authorities in a recent tweet to quote, lock her up.
Because again, like Ron Johnson, this is the kind of stuff that Tom Tiffany does.
Here's another thing that Republicans in Wisconsin have been doing in terms of, you know, calling for investigations and extra judicial matters.
Now, Republicans in the legislature say that they are going to investigate State Attorney General Josh Call.
They're going to investigate, quote, external influences with the formation of a new committee that was announced by Senate Republican leader Devon Lemahue.
They said they're going to focus on something called the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center at the New York University Law School, which is funded in part by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Now, the issue was raised because that group has helped to fund positions in attorneys general offices.
across the country, including one in Wisconsin, a new special assistant attorney general in charge of environmental litigation.
So it's intended to help expand the work of the State Department of Justice's unit that enforces laws that protect Wisconsin consumers and natural resources.
And I guess some people don't like that when you try to work against corporate polluters.
And so Republicans in the legislature have announced a quote unquote investigation
into Josh Call very conveniently at the start of his campaign for reelection.
And one more case of Republicans looking to undermine the basic work of government.
Republicans in the legislature are blocking an attempt agency to use funding to reduce the amount of time it takes to obtain a professional license.
The Department of Safety and Professional Services is in charge of licensing doctors, nurses, contractors, builders.
In October, the department requested nearly two million in funding to hire more employees and employ new technology to reduce the wait time for callers, according to an article from Laura Schulte in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
But one member of the Joint Finance Committee in the legislature anonymously objected to the request, which holds up the funding.
Without the additional funding, the secretary of that agency says Wisconsinites could face delays for licenses and delays for people who call in to ask questions.
What do you always hear me say?
And I'll say it again.
Those who hate our government the most should be trusted the least to run it competently.
This is all part of a self-fulfilling prophecy that they love to claim that government doesn't work.
Well, it only doesn't work if someone's throwing sand in the gears.
And Republicans in Madison and in Washington DC have been trying to sandbag your government and efficient operation of your tax dollars for a long time.
And if that means you have to wait longer to get a license or your health insurance costs go up, as long as you think it's the government that's to blame, well, that's a win for them because, you know, politics over service.

All right, when I was a kid, we lived in the oldest house on the block and I said it should be named and I suggested Blue Gertrude.
I was in my Anne of Green Gables phase.
My dad started singing Blue Christmas with the lyrics changed to Blue Gertrude.

I think we've done like entire segments devoted to the Stormfront album.

So I go to extremes was on Stormfront, as was We Didn't Start the Fire, Leningrad, the Down Easter Alexa, and Shameless, which for folks who haven't heard it before, they've heard the Garth Brooks version.
It was Billy Joel who wrote it, and then Garth Brooks took it and made it even better.
That was 1989.
Stormfront was number one on the album chart.
We'll go up four years to 1993 when Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance aired for the first time.
So this is from MTV Unplugged, and again, 1993.
And I was kind of taken aback when I'm looking at the video here of Dave Grohl playing the drums, because he looks like a kid.
And he's playing these drums so soft, and it looks like he's very intentionally trying to keep the drum soft.
And I guess he said, in telling the story later, with every take, every rehearsal that Kurt Cobain would turn in and say, can you play the drums a little softer?
Can you play the drums a little softer?
Can you play the drums a little softer to the point where he said, why am I bleeping here?
And so a very young Dave Grohl just looks like he's just like mocking the light drumming that he's doing.
But it's MTV Unplugged.

Well, I will say, though, MTV Unplugged, the great thing about that, and I really can't believe that that franchise
didn't last was you found out which bands like this you know Nirvana electric turn it up to 11 you know play it loud and yet they could do this
an unplugged set not every band or singer can do that you know Eric Clapton had one of the quintessential unplugged performances it didn't work for everybody but I thought there was such a great franchise
We've got a melancholy note in the history lesson.
This is the one year anniversary of the abundant life school shooting in Madison.
One teacher and one student died.
Six were injured.
The 15 year old shooter then took her own life.
Again, hard to believe that was one year ago now this day in 2024.
The number one song from this day in 2007 was by Beyonce.
Here replaceable was written by Neo and it would remain the number one song for 10 weeks 18 years ago starting this week.
A little later we'll conclude with one more birthday boy here a guy by the name of Ludwig von Beethoven was born in von Germany on this day in 1770 and so we'll end things in a few minutes here with the end of his symphony number two.
Did I know this was symphony number two when I queued this up?
No, of course not do it.
Do I look like I look like I'm in any way at all incredibly competent about Beethoven?
No, but I can respect something good when I hear it.
And so we'll hear the end of that coming up in a little bit.

Oh in the 1970s there was this thing called squirmals and They were like these little furry worm-like toys with googly eyes
and you could pull it with a string and it would crawl or jump or wiggle.

But there was one one rule.
Don't get them wet.
This was pre gremlins.
I'm not making a joke about gremlins here.
Don't get them wet.
And sure enough, she's like, we took them into the bathtub and they were ruined.
And you know, the parents were like, we're not replacing these.
Don't don't break your toy.
How about don't break?
Don't make toys like that.
You know, yeah, so you would so that was that's my example of a stupid toy and I know there's others but that one immediately popped into my head
I don't I know there were toys that did Easily break where you you didn't feel like you were misusing the toy, but it was almost like I think that's how kids first learned about balsa wood was we had these little balsa wood gliders this very paper thin wood and
Now, anytime you mentioned balsa wood, you think of something that just easily breaks.
So there's things that definitely should not have been sold as toys.
And I'm sure other people will have some others out as well.
Roger puts up on Facebook, the new Billboard Hot 100 is out for this week.
And yep, I heard this this morning.
Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You is the number one song.
Barker looks very frustrated by this, which means Mariah Carey has now broken a record.
The song that spent the most weeks at number one is now all I want for Christmas is you because as of this week, that song has now marked 20 weeks at number one.
Now, it was spread over 31 years, but she managed to get 20 weeks at number one.
She does it
Yep.
and Tony Ugg Beethoven.
What a fad.
He'll be forgotten in a week.
Nope, didn't work out that way at all.
What else is on the calendar today?
Chocolate Covered Anything.
I don't know that I could disagree with that.
You know, I mean, there are things that you wouldn't expect.
I remember the first time I saw somebody had made chocolate dipped
potato chips, you know, or, or even the first time you have like chocolate dip pretzels, you know, that whole salty sweet thing going on.

That's always very cool.
So chocolate covered anything.
We used to, I don't, I don't think we have in a long time, but we used to at Christmas, we would, there were like these molds that we would get and you would put one of those big long pretzel rods and you would have like white chocolate on it.
And the mold was like a shape of a Christmas tree and you'd put like
little
ornaments.
Yeah.
Although now the mistake you made was you said white chocolate, which isn't a real thing.
Okay.
So again, the point being, even if you think it's chocolate, chocolate on anything tends to make it better.
So all right, what else we got?
It is also
Backlash day?
No, it's just, just cause it says here, Barbie and Barney backlash day was created December 16th every year to deny their very existence.
Perhaps it's also a time for parents to take a break from picking up their children's Barbie dolls or turn off Barney's famous sing-along songs that have charmed children for decades.
And it just basically these are people that just reached a saturation point with either Barbie or Barney.
I guess it must have been.
I mean.
I guess I don't get it from a Barney standpoint, I get it from the songs.
If your kid is singing for the 250th time today, I love you, you love me.
I can see where it would get under your nerves.
But Barbie, I understand it a bit more simply because you know how parents like to joke about stepping barefoot on Legos that have been left out?
Barbie accessories are not that far off the mark.
And we had, you know, of our two daughters, one was a real Barbie princess and we still have all of it.
We have all of it.
And so that when our granddaughter, who's now three, comes, I mean, she's just in heaven, just loves it.
But I mean, those accessories are everywhere.
And if you're not careful, you're stepping on a tiny, high-heeled shoe or a little makeup mirror or a tiny dog or something like that.
So I get I get that part of the backlash.
However, Tony puts just play the cleanup song.
It's a classic.
There you go.
That's a good point.
He says, don't you dare tell me to turn off Barney.
My kids love it.
Yeah, that's the thing.
The kids love it, you know.
So look, parents, if you if you're feeling a little backlash to Barney, just go in another room for a while.
Maybe turn on Beethoven Symphony number two.
OK.
Very relaxed.
And yeah, and maybe.
try to add some words to this.
Maybe saying, I love you.
You love me to a little Beethoven.
See, we're a classy joint over here.
That's what they tell me.

I only use noise cancellation when I can see the kids.
Yes, that is a very good safety tip from father of the year, Tony, right there.

And the other thing is, I mean, if you have the noise canceling on and you're cranking a particular song, I mean, somebody might see you dancing to Kelly Clarkson's All I Want for Christmas, you know, or what is there's underneath the tree is her song.

Now, what else entertainment news?
We have Lizzo was getting sued by her former dancers.
They were alleging that she had been fat shaming them and that they had been fired because they had gained weight.
Those claims have been tossed now because apparently there was just no merit in court that that's what happened.
Lizzo contests that the claims of fat shaming was not true and it was actually, they were fired actually because they had secretly been recording her and sending those videos to previous employees.
You think they'd come up with a better excuse than, I mean, Lizzo is very...
Proud of her body and rightly so very attractive woman and does not feel the need to you know conform to other people's expectations And so why would you accuse Lizzo of fat shaming?
That would be like accusing me of being unhappy that somebody else was using sarcasm It's just you know, you you play your strengths.

The line of where some piece of memorabilia is extremely valuable and almost anybody would want to put in a bid on it to the point where now we're just ridiculous.
Now it's solely an investment piece, you know.

You could see some people that maybe you know that go, that would be so cool.
I would pay $1,000 for that home run ball.
They would not pay $10,000 for it, much less $4 million for it.
It just, it leaves the category of memorabilia.
And now it's just like a, you know, a share of stock or something like
They're nice, but again, it's memorabilia.
But now, even when you want to see the game worn uniforms or the game ball or whatever, and you go into these pro shops, I mean, they want your basic arm and a leg.
You know, it's, it's very tough to engage in actual trading of anything beyond, uh, you know, baseball cards.
Oh wait, no, baseball cards are like, you need, you need a mortgage payment to get some of those nowadays.
Oh, that's right.
