still like something out of the technological Stone Age with its coax cables, ethernet cables, things that are connected, but still don't talk to each other.
It's, it's, it's like saying here are 12 cars in a junkyard.
I need you to connect all these jumper cables just the right way.
By the way, three of the batteries have the posts backwards and one of the cars is on fire.
And then maybe
your new modem and router will work, but most likely not.
Which is what kept me up way too late into the evening, which is why Greg has been brought in early to bring some comedy relief before Pat goes and throws a modem out the window.

Uh, I went to my
doctor.
I said, uh, I'll give you six months.
I'm not going to comedy.
Uh, so.
I am right there with you, buddy.
I've been there a few times.

There's people who are like, I have a master's in such and such and still can't do this with the home networks.
How is this still a thing?
Yeah, I really feel like at this point, well, for one thing, the fact that we have a modem and a router is ridiculous.

Okay, I should not have to have two pieces of equipment.
No.
Let me
get to, let me, let me make it salient to the, to the headlines today.
It's not like, all this stuff, it's not like I'm texting war plans in a group chat, okay?
There, I brought, I brought the plane in for a
little while.
The, the, the story is just like the news is just like my cream's topical.
See, I got you laughing.
We will get to the world's dumbest tech chain coming up.
Man, I was, I had the TV on when this first came up and in the background and I just kind of looked at the TV.
And, you know, most, I've been broadcasting a long time.
Yeah.
Most days it's not tough to, to avoid saying a naughty word or something, but

story like this and you're like, okay, watch your words, Pat.
Watch your words because just go with, are you kidding me?
And just leave it at that.

Lucy Ritzman of Courier Newsroom has been tracking the online spending in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race because, again, you see a lot of TV ads, you hear a lot of radio ads, you might get some mail pieces.
A lot of money is being spent online for the Supreme Court race as well, and she'll talk about that.
And then around 7.30, we will also talk
to Richard Trent.
He is the National Executive Director for Main Street Alliance, talking about President Trump's cuts that are harming small businesses and even getting some Republican members of Congress upset with him saying, no, this is too far.
You're hurting the small businesses in our district.
So that and Brittany Merleau is going to be coming up in just a bit.
I can tell you about her state forecast for the day.
They mainly dry and calm week ahead with some warming temperatures throughout the week, all before another storm system hits the state over the weekend.
I really am hoping that this is one of the last mornings I tell you that temperatures are in the teens and twenties around Wisconsin.
It's 22 here in Shippewa Falls, 15 in Hayward.

Um, I mean, there's always, for me, there was always, uh, the pious popes, but with their other team, the lady popes, that was interesting.
Um, no, the sons.
I was thinking of the little mythical beast up north here.
Oh, the hodag.
The hodag.
Of course, there's the, there's the ore dockers.
There's the granite diggers.
So those are more.
I like that there's a little imagination into these things.
Yeah.

We're the lions, we're the bears, we're, you know, whatever.

I mean, even Packers, at least it was like, okay, it was the Acme meatpacking plant.

I don't know that's team at all.
That's like, if you go back to, especially go back to minor league baseball, like.
pre 1950s, some of those team names are amazing.
So now I read somewhere that they're, we've talked about alternative jerseys,
you know,
sometimes now they're going with like alternative names,
like the
team will be changing its name for it for a day,
you
know, as part of a special promotion.
So yeah, you just never know what you're going to get.
I
just want
to watch a baseball game.
I like when
the Dodgers are Los Dodgers.

Uh, what's the

That's one of them that Christina writes

This is the cable company was the cable company having their having their revenge so I will continue to
try to say what I can and then see if we have to go with an alternative source instead for this.
But I was going to mention that the Department of Public Instruction has broken down the funding that comes from the federal government.
If the U.S.
Department of Education were in fact to be shut down and if the money were not to be reallocated in some other way, it would impact Wisconsin schools in a massive way.
We're talking $842 million.
that is Dolled out to schools around Wisconsin for special education services school meals mental health support services hiring teachers and other educators and DPI actually breaks it down by school district At the DPI website, they've put out a fact sheet on every school district So for example here in Chippewa Falls three point eight million dollars in federal funding
might just go away.
In La Crosse, the number is $7.1 million.
In Waukesha, it's $8.1 million.
6% of the total state budget that would just go away if federal funding were to disappear.
Now, again, there are these promises that it won't from the president, but again, much like repeal and replace.
There's no real proof.
There's no proof that the money will, in fact, be kept in place.
Just briefly on the text chain thing.
Let's just call it the thing, so I don't say a bad word.
But honestly, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, the Vice President of the United States, the National Security Advisor, all out of text chain and nobody looks at the whole group to say, who's this guy?
And it turns out the national security advisor accidentally included a reporter.
I mean, if this isn't the most incompetent secretary of defense ever, just again, in any other world where there's a sense of honor, the firing would have already happened.
And for a president to say, what?
I never, I have no idea what you're talking about.
This, first I've heard about, it's a terrible magazine.
Again, not normal.
If the president actually did not know,
Within seconds of this news report coming out, again, there are people that need to be fired.
And for the Republicans who are saying, oh, I've been too busy to read it yet.
I don't know exactly what you're talking about.
Please, if it had been Hillary Clinton, you would have known every detail before the first microphone was put in your face.
Stop fooling yourself.
You're certainly not fooling anybody here.
This would be a great day, a great day for any supporter of President Trump to say, okay, I still support the guy.
But what a bonehead move.
You can't just laugh and deny this one away.
This could have caused serious death and harm to the U.S.
military.
It's no laughing matter, and this isn't going to be going away.

All right, moving along on this Tuesday morning, time to talk to Sharita Booker, our social media manager.
Hey, Sharita, how are you?
Good, Pat, how are you?
Good.
This is an unusual
batch of posts we're going to go through because, again, interspersed with a lot of our news stories, especially our political stories, are a lot of feature stories about Wisconsin food and places and people and events.
But when you look at some of the most engaged stories of the past week, they're all in the political realm.
I think it's just a reflection of how much has been going on.
from a political standpoint, not just out of Washington DC, but the impact here on Wisconsin.
So we're going to talk about all that.
But lest folks think, okay, are we going to have any fun today, next segment, we're talking to Christina Laurie all about the brewers opening up the season in two days.
So stick around for a little bit of that.
But as far as the stories that people were commenting on, Sharita, one of them was us passing along an analysis through the New York Times about what Donald Trump's trade war
is potentially gonna do to Wisconsin jobs.
And other countries like China and Canada are fighting back with tariffs that could really hurt farmers, factory workers and small businesses here.
Almost 10% of Wisconsin's workforce is in industries that rely on exports.
So if sales drops or sales drop, jobs could be on the line.
And while other states will fail it too, Wisconsin's economy is especially at a risk.
And that post had
Hundreds of comments.
Sue said, I remember seeing many Trump signs in those same farm fields.
You are reaping what you sowed.
And Tom said, Trump supporters getting what they voted for.
Enjoy.
And Pat, I didn't want to leave this one out because we have a comment that was directly to you.
It was from a Christina.
She said, Pat Crichtlow, please stop spreading the spreading fear.
The fertilizer is the main overseas product farmers purchase.
Very easily produced in America with better regulations.
Shame on you.
I look forward to seeing the label made in America again.
So Christine, I appreciate the comment there.
Uh, yeah, the, the fertilizer, by the way, for folks that are saying, well, the farmers are reaping what they sell first off, not every farmer voted for Trump.
And second, don't worry about the farmer.
This is about you.
This is about consumer prices that are going to be going up.
We talked to Sean O'Malley about this on the program a couple of weeks back about potash, uh, being imported from Canada in terms of, uh, making.
making fertilizer in America with better regulations.
I will be very curious to say details on how we go about doing that.
I think most of the fertilizer being made in America is currently coming out of Washington, D.C.
and we can't really package that one up.
This is, in fact, most liable to hit Wisconsin than any other state when you look at the way that these other countries are looking right at swing states.
They're looking, where is this going to hurt Donald Trump the most?
And they look at certain industries and they look here and they say, look, this is how it's going to happen.
That's not spreading fear.
That's spreading truth, that's spreading economics, that's spreading reality, not the political rhetoric.
So let's keep that in mind as these trade wars continue to escalate in one way or another, or as Tim Walls put it during a visit to the Chippewa Valley last week.
How did he put it?
This is the worst I told you so tour ever, something like that?
Tim Walts told the crowd that Wisconsin is at the center of the fight against Trump and Elon Musk.
He and Democratic Party Chair Ben Wichler said most, or Musk's back groups have already thrown over 13 million into attacking Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford before the April 1st Supreme Court election.
And Walts also called out Rep Derek Van Orden for dodging in-person talent halls.
That post had more than 1,500 likes on our Facebook, and the comment section had
a lot of mixed reviews.
A lot of people telling Tim Walz to go back to his own state and such, calling them names, the usual, but Jackie said a lot of Democrats are having town halls and Republican states because Republicans can't answer the questions.
Thanks, Tim Walz.
There is a lot of that and there's a reason that Governor Walz is getting traction with that is that people want to be heard, the people who are being hurt directly by this, including people, by the way,
who may have voted Republican in the past, but now have learned that when there was all this talk about cutting waste, apparently they're the waste
that some of these folks were talking about.
And there was, you know, Governor Wall's taking a question from a teary-eyed woman in Chippewa Falls who talked about, you know, being unable to work since contracting Parkinson's and, you know, is very fearful of what's going to happen to the benefits that help her as her disease progresses and as she ages.
This is
a very real concern among Americans.
We've already seen the impact on medical research.
And look, if we've said many a time, if Congressman Van Orden doesn't want to take time to hear these concerns and maybe try to, you know, blunt some of the trauma of these cuts, well, then you've got an opening for Governor Walls, for Mark Pokan, for any of us to play that role instead.
So that was some of the reaction to the cuts.
and the actions, but I think one of the most interesting ones, the third post that we're going to talk about, is about a Wisconsin man whose wife was detained by ICE and what he's had to say because of who he voted for, Sharita.
Yeah,
so him and his wife were coming home back to Wisconsin from their honeymoon in Puerto Rico and they were stopped by ICE agents at the airport and
Camilla, his wife, Camilla Munoz, was arrested and detained.
And now Camilla, she's from Peru and has been following the legal process to become a US citizen.
In her case, it was just like one of many who were detained and something that goes against Trump's claim that his immigration policies only target criminals.
That post had more than 1,200 likes on our Instagram.
Britain said she was still married to a Trump supporter, question mark.
And Kate said,
have the day you voted for.
But
since that time, uh, he's been interviewed by, by others.
Uh, the, the daily beast comes to mind and he continues to say he has no regrets about voting for Donald Trump.
Even after his wife was detained, taken away for days, he didn't know where his wife was.
And yet he does not hold Donald Trump responsible.
He says the problem was ice.
that ICE should have done a better job of knowing the paperwork that she was already going through to help become a citizen.
So there are plenty of folks that don't want to be very sympathetic to Ms.
Munoz and to her husband, but I think the thing to keep in mind is, again, you can have voted for Donald Trump based on something he said, but when you see what is really being done,
you might want to reconsider whether that person was fooling you.
It doesn't mean that you did something wrong, but maybe that person was fooling you all this time.
Something to think about.

Christina, how are you?
Yes, there is that.
So sometimes the international schedule works in our favor.
Let's talk about new faces first, but it's fascinating to think that we will be talking about a fielder again.
His son, Jaden, signed with the Brewers last year.
And he visited spring at the end of Brewer spring training this year took a few swings his swing.
I mean Prince had a very distinct swing and his sons looks just like it just looks just like his grandpa's as well.
I mean how cool is it to have three generations of really good professional baseball players.
all part of your franchise.
I really am looking forward to following young Jayden here as things go along.
But we've got other younger players to talk about that are already proven products.
I mean, Jackson Churio is already projected to do great things since he clearly exceeded expectations last year.

for the
Uh, yeah, and it's a lot of it.
So, you know, he'll be one of, uh, oh, at least four outfielders that you could expect to be on the roster.
Uh, you know, Christian Yelich is coming back from, uh, injury Garrett Mitchell has been plagued with injuries.
Uh, Sal Freilich, uh, again, like Jackson Churio projected to do some very good things for the brew crew this summer.

Pat Murphy was like really reluctant to name anyone.
Obviously Terrang is the reigning platinum glove winner, which is a relatively new award that's only been given out for the past few seasons to the number one outfielder.
So they take all the old, all the gold glove winners and then they pick just one to win the platinum glove.
Terrang won that last year at second, but Murphy had been toying around with moving him to short.
However,
He had a little bit of a shoulder injury.
It's
not as
He had MRIs, no structural damage, luckily.
But that just kind of answered the brewer's question for them.
So maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
So Ortiz is the one that's going to take over at shortstop.
And Murphy has decided, at least for now, to keep terrain at second, which why mess with a good thing.
And Ortiz, you might, if you think back to last fall, he had that absolutely insane throw from third base to first.
Joey
Ortiz is always fun to watch.
So I am more than ready to give him a shot over at shortstop and see how that works out for the team.
No, as long as whether you're an infielder, an outfielder, and of course the pitchers, you can avoid the IL, as the line I heard last week.
There are now three major leagues.
There's the AL, the NL, and the IL, the injured list, which has been so full of brewers most recently.
And of course, Brandon Woodruff is still working his way back from injury.
We talked about
that.
Well, yeah, and it wasn't just last week we talked about Jose Quintana coming over to the Brewers now.
You still have that bobblehead?

So that was a natural fit and I love seeing Kintana back in our jersey.
He's obviously been really, he's made the rounds around the NL central.
So it's nice to see him finally land with our team.
So far it seems like he's going to be still on track to join the team for the second rotation.
So he's not going to be like part of the original starting five and then
Woodruff he pitched his first major league game in more than 500 days a week and a half ago and it went well He only pitched one complete inning, but he was back to his old form.
He had some strikeouts Even struck out a guy looking his first pitch back, which was fantastic And so that that's I I think that's the biggest name we're all waiting for but
Robert Gasser is someone who was on a lot of like top watch list last year and he the first two months of last season He was doing absolutely fantastic until Tommy John surgery But we just got a more recent update on his recovery and he is still on track to rejoin the team by the end of this season so Hopefully like they have been for the past
seven years, they'll still be in it at that
point.
It always has seemed so often lately that we've had these injuries where you say, well, they might be back in time for the playoffs and
You know if you get a postseason push you're gonna you're gonna want that you're gonna want some You know some fresh arms coming into the game some fresh legs as well There's one name you didn't mention and I I know he got a lot of attention during spring training Not that I should really expect him to be any part of the regular lineup, but how fun was it to see?
Donald driver
in a brewer's uniform at least for a day.
I mean, his smile just makes you smile.
And he visited training camp.
He was full, you know, decked out in brewer's gear wearing number 80, of course.
And Murphy brought him there intentionally because he wanted him to motivate and inspire the team.
And who better to do that than, you know, we sometimes forget.
Donald driver's roots.
He was homeless for a portion of his childhood and then he grew up to become a six-time Pro Bowler Super Bowl champ and one of the only Packers who never wore another team's jersey and was as good as he was.
So that was definitely like quite the inspirational pep talk.
The Brewers went on to win the game that Donald driver
coached first base at for a few innings.
There was a fun moment where he was, um, Turiel got ahead and he, or Turiel was on third.
I forget who got the hit, but he was motioning for Turiel to go run at home and he was going a little crazy.
I think he thought he was supposed to run to home as well.
It was
See, and if we get that for a chief morale officer now and then, that would be fine by me.
And I don't want to diminish the role of the coaches at first and third base.
But sometimes it's nice to have things a little more lighthearted.
I'll never forget going to the first game of the St.
Paul Saints.
This is going back several years now.
But at the time, Bill Murray was one of the original
part owners of the team.
And to see Bill Murray coaching first base was just an absolute joy.
Is it bringing a little show business into the game?
Yeah.
But can you still run the game while having a morale officer on the field?
I think so.
I wouldn't mind seeing a little more Donald Driver in the coach's box if he wants to.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Without a doubt.
Now I, we do so much with food and drink.
And I don't doubt that we're going to be talking about ballpark food, though I am going to give credit to Hannah Kirby over at the Journal Sentinel.
And I would be surprised if you influenced this.
We do so much on food and drink that they've already done the story.
on the sneak peek of new food options at American Family Field.
So I wanted to run a couple of these by you and see what you thought.
One is a smoked gouda burger, twin burger patties, gouda cheese, beer butter onions, and a smoky chipotle ranch on a potato bun.
Is that a little bit too much for ballpark food or does that interest you?
No, I'm glad you brought this up because I saw the list of new foods to it was just released last week I I await you were correct I wait on the edge of my seat to see this and What I was impressed about is that a lot of times in recent years?
It seems like the brewers have added stuff that just doesn't sound like ballpark food I mean, I'm still just a ultimate traditionalist.
I just like the hot dog or the brat
and, you know, maybe some popcorn if I'm getting real crazy.
But a burger also fits into that category.
I love the Wisconsin element that we're going to have some beer butter onions, of course,
and
then, you know, a more elevated type of cheese because this is Wisconsin and we are a little snooty about what type of cheese we had.
So, no, that one didn't offend me.
The one that I am questioning is available at club level.
They're offering a chicken and andouille jambalaya.
And that's something that we file under foods that never need to be eaten within a ballpark.
No
jambalaya at the
No, no, no, no.
I thought maybe you're going to talk about the, uh, the chicken cordon blue that they've got in there.
Like that, that doesn't really strike me as, as ballpark food.
Nope.
Nope.
We're going to have to strike that one as well.
There is the enchilada dog, which along with the hot dog bun is a salsa dipped corn tortilla, melted cheese, onion cilantro.
It looks very intriguing.
But then finally there's this bases loaded potato dog, which again is a hot dog and a bun.
But then there's also bacon strips, cheese, tater tots.
Now, once you're putting tater tots on the hot dog, you maybe don't need a fork right away.
But I think there's such a risk of spillage that I, again, would question whether you could really pay attention to something if the follow ball is coming at you.
And you're actually thinking about not dropping your food to catch the ball because they're charging you so much for these loaded gourmet items.
That might be a line I can't cross.
It kind of reminds me of those giant suckers that they sell at Disney World that are like the size of kids heads.
There's no proper way to eat it.
Like when you get to this loaded hot dog, how are you in one bite supposed to get the hot dog, the tots, this mountain of toppings?
Like it's just not physically possible.
Right, right, right.
I think if you're going to do it, go with the brats because brats, you can flavor those in all kinds of different ways because you've got something a little bit thicker and you can put all kinds of great flavors in there.
So do that.
Don't go vertical.
Put the stuff right into the product right there.
That makes total sense especially haven't seen the broad have having seen the broad said a couple of other ballparks Yeah, you got to come to Milwaukee to get that

One more important birthday, Milwaukee's own Captain Jim Lovell, the astronaut from Apollo 8, the commander of the ill-fated Apollo 13.
He turns 97 today.
In the famous movie, he uttered the line, Houston, we've had a problem.
The movie about the mission was based on his memoir of Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks playing him.
But it's also important to note that on Christmas 1968, Lovell and two other astronauts aboard Apollo 8 took turns reading from Genesis as a worldwide audience watched humans travel to the moon for the very first time.
You met his wife,
Marilyn, while they were attending Milwaukee's Juneau High School.
He and Marilyn were married for 71 years before her passing, so happy 97th to Jim Lovell.
