Good morning and welcome.
Welcome to Matt Nair on air.
Jane Matt Nair, Greg Bach and Calvin Butenoff coming to you live from our studio here at Radio Park in Racine.
You can always join us, call or text.
The number is the same 855-752-4842.
You can leave a comment if you're watching on the live stream on Facebook.
YouTube and what used to be Twitter.
Want to say thanks again to everybody who made our road trip possible last
week.
We stopped in Oshkosh and in Butternut and in Hayward and it takes a village to pull it off.
And
we
want to thank again everybody who made this happen.
It was so much fun.
We really, really hit a ball.
It was an absolute blast.
I mean.
the I'm not even a big fan of the driving part of the road trip because it just feels like
We have five hours until we're there.
We have four hours and 45 minutes.
And it just keeps going.
But this, like everything went really fast.
It went really quickly.
So yeah, big thanks to everybody who had a part in this.
And we had a great time.
And Butternut, we will see you again someday because it was too beautiful not to
revisit.
It's adorable.
Butternut is just an adorable little town.
And if you make it up there, and I highly encourage you, if you want to get away,
Head up to the Hayward Butternut Park Falls area and they've got all kind of, I mean, Lena's Resort where we stay, they have miles and miles and miles of ATV trails, that's the big thing now.
Snowmobile trails, hopefully we'll get snow this winter and it'll all work good for everybody up there.
But if you're looking for just a beautiful place to relax, take your canoe, maybe do some fishing.
It's just a beautiful, beautiful part of the state.
Yeah, I would say honestly for me, I would go to Butternut again for the relaxation and then I would drive an hour north to Hayward.
for shopping and fun because it's a great downtown.
Butternut has a great downtown, but it's very, very small.
But that's what I liked about it.
And Hayward has a more, just there's a lot of stuff going on.
It's more touristy and there's cool shops, but it's, it's a good combination.
It's, it's perfect for getting both sides of vacation.
Yeah, I would check it out.
Yeah, you will you will not regret it.
You will you will absolutely love it.
And again, thank you to everybody who made it happen.
But we are back.
Yes, all in one piece.
And this kind of jumped out at me this morning because I don't recall any voter in Wisconsin asking for this.
Now granted, do I talk to every single person in Wisconsin?
No.
But
I just haven't felt a big groundswell of support, whereas on some things, we do actually agree.
But whether or not he heard from his constituents that this is really what they want, our new congressman, Tony
Weed.
Yes, shiny
and new.
We could add Kristen.
Tony Weed has introduced legislation to protect American citizens' Second Amendment rights.
by banning federal, state, and local laws targeting magazine capacity.
We need more bullets, Greg, to fire
more often.
Well, I think that's like, for me personally, I don't know about you.
I am a constitutional scholar.
And when you take the Second Amendment and you take all of those words, all like, you know, two dozen of them,
and you recontextualize them for a modern day.
I really believe what the founding fathers were saying, implying and hoping was that one day, not only would our guns be able to fire an offensive amount of bullets at once, but also that we could just keep on going until we were ready to say, stop.
And frankly, the government putting its big regulation boot on our necks to keep us from having all of the bullets in the world.
frankly needs to be combated.
And I want to congratulate Tony Weed on, you know, health care.
Don't worry about it.
Child care, boring education, yesterday's news, bullets, friends.
That's the thing that all Americans are worrying themselves about is, is, it's, and it's also not being, uh, uh, hit with one.
They don't worry about that.
Ever.
It's about access to and firing as many as possible.
That's so good on you, Congressman Weed.
First time in Congress and you're just knocking it out of the park.
It's just, you know, good work.
Here's what Congressman Weed has to say about this quote for too long.
The federal government has infringed on American Second Amendment rights while maintaining a confusing, inconsistent system
that lacks a uniform national standard and invites legal disparity.
The fire act.
I love it when they use acronyms.
The fire act ensures that law abiding gun owners can access magazines of any size, no matter where they are in the United States.
It's well past time.
We take the founding fathers words shall not be infringed seriously.
Also, within the Second Amendment, it says, well-regulated militia, correct?
And I feel like, yes.
But we
don't need to take that part seriously.
Regulated.
That makes me think of the word, regulation.
Well-regulated militia.
That would be regulations.
I don't like that, Shane.
Yeah, it's funny because they want to take that second amendment so seriously, but when you ever bring up the well-regulated or the fact that when this amendment was written, they had muskets.
It took a minute to two minutes to reload one.
They didn't really think about automatic firepower or firepower as far as its abundancy.
But it's gone from taking the second amendment to the second half of the amendment to just shall not be infringed.
That is as much as shall not be infringes as much legality as they need.
That's it.
Period.
It's their way of getting around.
All legal.
All comparisons.
Everything is legal.
All questions.
It's always shall not be infringed.
Boom.
Done.
Next topic.
Yeah.
This is...
Yeah, nobody asked for this.
This is not a, this is not a top.
Oh, I'm
sure the NRA has asked for this.
And I'm sure
they're,
I would imagine weapons manufacturers have asked for this.
Yeah.
Ammo manufacturers have probably asked for this,
but I, if I'm not mistaken, I feel like that the magazine, please correct me if I'm wrong, but the magazine portion of it gets murky because it's not about it's, that's not about the firearm.
Cause that was the same thing with silencers too.
It's like they're not.
The magazine isn't the gun.
It's part of you can add two and you can regulate therefore with those.
But Tony, we just wants to knock it all off.
Let's just call it a day.
I mean, do you want to have a thousand round magazine, Jane?
You can.
And don't tell me I can't have a thousand and one.
Because
every good hunter, of course, uses a thousand rounds when they're hunting.
Yes.
Yeah.
I'm sure that.
When you're sitting around the campfire after your day of hunting, you talk about great shots, the great 900 shots Eric
got
off at that one deer.
I don't hunt.
I
don't come from a hunting family.
855-752-4842.
855-75 Civic, is this a good thing?
Do we need unlimited access to unlimited magazines?
8-5-5-7-5-2-4-8-4-2, maybe I'm missing something, maybe this is something that hunters want.
I would be very surprised by that.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I go to a memory I have of a co-worker, and this is just one man, but I believe that if there's one man who thinks this, I bet you there's many people who agree with this, and he is a war vet.
in Vietnam, he, a staunch Republican, but this was back in 2008.
So back then it was adorable.
He didn't, you know, there was no MAGA, there was no Tea Party.
He was just a staunch Republican, but he was like my uncles who were like, didn't like liberals.
I say all that because he would tell me when we were talking about this topic, he'd say, I believe you should be able to defend your home with a handgun.
I believe you should be able to hunt in the woods with a rifle.
I believe beyond that you don't need guns.
He didn't think you needed a semi-automatic weapon.
You didn't need military grade weaponry to quote unquote protect your home.
And this was a man who did not vote for Democrats ever.
But he believed that there was a place for some restrictions and regulations on firearms because he understood the dangers.
So this is not this is this I think this is a topic Jane I know this is a topic and we've talked about this many times a topic in which we we do agree many Americans agree regardless of their party they agree that
Some restrictions, some regulations.
Some gun safety legislation.
Is okay, is fine, is necessary.
But you know, it's, we got Tony Weed saying, hey, do you guys, do you want to shoot a million bullets at once?
Go for
it.
I'll make that possible for you.
Yes, we're talking about Congressman Tony Weed and the fire act that he has introduced.
which ensures the protection of Second Amendment rights by preventing state and local bans on magazine capacity.
I would also imagine that our law enforcement agencies cannot be happy about this.
No, how does this work in their favor?
How does this make their jobs any safer?
I have to imagine as I mean, I another quick story, I come from a very large family of cops with a lot of cops in my family.
Now,
We never had these discussions because this at the time when I was younger was not a hot button issue, like the total and unfettered access to weapons.
But I used to work in Racine.
I spoke to the chief of police once and I asked him straight.
I'm like, what do you think of all of this?
And he said, he said, first of all,
He didn't own a gun at home.
He had a gun at work.
He didn't believe in having guns at home like that's a mind-blowing thing But his other point that I'll never forget he said if people want to have access to firearms Okay, but they should have to once a year go through the same the same testing the same certification that
All of my officers have to go through in order to carry a firearm on their side.
No questions asked.
You want it?
Fine.
You must be, not this.
You have to take a course to use it.
Not this paper thin certification for concealed carry that we have in this state, which is almost laughable on its face, but you actually have to have real training and real certifications to do it.
Then maybe the conversation's different, but we don't do that in this country.
We do unfettered, whatever you want, however you want to get it.
And also I feel like that this law,
would kind of step on states' rights, because if save, I don't know, say Vermont wants to do it, they can't because- Well, states' rights though,
yeah, they like to talk about
states'
rights, except when it doesn't go along with their agenda, and
then it's
like, well, the rights of the federal government supersede everything.
Exactly, exactly.
When they're in power.
Just another example of the Constitution, a really cute document sometimes.
855-752-4842.
Do we need this bill?
When the Joint Finance Committee was traveling all around the state, listening to constituents, nine hours of testimony, the top three things that people told our lawmakers, the people we pay to represent us and enact the will of the people.
The top three things that they heard on the Joint Finance Committee was more funding for education, more funding for healthcare.
Not unfettered access to unlimited magazines.
I don't remember that coming up.
No, no,
maybe I'm for I'm getting old I forget.
Well, we were on the road for a few days.
We sometimes miss things and I would just like to I'd like to get the proof from Congressman weed about where he got this concern from this overwhelming and unifying concern from the people might add that made him want to do this and and and you know Tom Tiffany signed on yes sign down.
So this is this is a
This is an important thing for them I guess because you know they need a headline and a press release and they need a way to tell people hey I'm doing work even if it's see I did a thing I did a I did a thing for you I did a thing for you enjoy all of your bullets
stay with us you are listening to Matt Nair on air coming to across the civic media radio network we will
be
Good morning and welcome.

He just won't die.
He's still not dead.
It's like, uh, uh, was it Castro?
Who was the one?
Oh, uh, yes.
Yeah.
Chevy Chase, Saturday Night Live.
He is still dead.
Oh, no, no, that was,
uh, who am I thinking of?
I will look it up.
We're looking, we're searching for dictators.
I found one in Washington.
Oh,
sorry.
Yeah.
So, yes, we'll be talking about the Jeffrey Epstein files just won't die.
General Lisboe, Francisco
Franco is still dead.
Yes.
And so is Jeffrey Epstein.
He is still dead, but he won't go away.
So that's coming up after the 9.30 news.
Wanted to start off with this though.
This is from Wisconsin Examiner, Baylor Spears with the byline.
Senate Democrats efforts to flip the state Senate next year Robin Vining Representative from Wauwatosa has announced she will campaign for Wisconsin's fifth Senate district currently held by Senator Rob Hutton a Republican of Brookfield
This is a good thing we've been talking a lot about the
the democratic moves that happened last election, as far as we're gaining seats in the assembly, as well as the Senate.
And this is a big move.
And Dan Schaefer has talked about this a great deal with us as well.
If they do the work as far as knocking on the doors and talking to people, which is what they have been doing
in the
past few years,
I'm just gonna start with the the Senate the Wisconsin State Senate the Democrats have a shot at for the first time in I think 13 14 years
long time
15 years have a shot at controlling the Senate and you know, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go any further.
I'm not gonna say assembly I'm not gonna say governor one thing at a time if if the Senate Democrats can can get a majority in just that house right there in that chamber That will be huge.
Yes huge
Tony Evers for at least a little while November 2026 will be the first time the new more competitive maps that were adopted in 2024 will be in effect for the 17 odd number Senate seats that are up for election All the seats in the state assembly in the governor's office will also be up for election Diane Senate Minority Leader Diane Hesselbein told reporters we're gonna have a trifecta
We're finally gonna be able to get things done for the very first time in a long time.
We're gonna be able to fund K-12 education, higher education, childcare, all the priorities we've been fighting for for over a decade.
I have never heard of Rob Hutton.
Rob Hutton?
Of Brookfield, which doesn't necessarily mean anything, but obviously he hasn't been a big...
He hasn't made a splash for himself.
Not authoring anything like let's have more bullets.
Well, he doesn't think
big
I guess
I mean that's that doesn't surprise me either I mean a lot of times we don't know who are The state senators and assemblymen
if it's not our if it's not our area if
it's not our area And also sometimes we if we even if we if it's in our area, it's there's a lot of representation But here's the thing I will do Jane.
I will make a segue I'll make a pivot to something and I will say if you want to know more about who represents you
go to myvote.wi.gov.
You're gonna go and put in all of your information on there as far as your name and your address, and what will happen is a list of individuals will pop up there, and that list is gonna be all the people who represent you in your area from the president of the United States, all the way down to your school board, to your state senator,
your state assembly.
Judges.
Judges.
It's gonna also have your assembly, or your...
city council members, county board supervisors, and heck, if you have an elected dog catcher, but that is all right there for you, myvote.wi.gov, including their phone numbers, and if you want to call them, and I'm gonna say something right now, Jane, if you don't like what your representative is doing, go there, find out their information, and tell them, but if you like what they're doing, call them as well.
They
were seriously though, that's a really good point, right?
Like businesses only hear complaints.
Nobody ever calls a business and said, that was the best guacamole I've ever had.
Oh,
by the way, the guacamole we had last week, I don't remember what it was really good.
But yeah, when I moved in my neighborhood, I found out who my sitting Alderman was and I emailed him to say, Hey, my wife and I, we moved into the area.
I just wanted to say hello.
And you know, here's who we are, blah, blah, blah.
He sent back an email within 10 minutes saying, I've never gotten an email like this before.
They'll get congratulations, but not all the time.
So if you disagree with them, call them up.
Be kind, be supportive, be respectful.
But if you're supporting them and you like what they're doing, tell them
to.
Let them know about that.
By the way, Hutton was first elected to his post in 2022.
He has introduced legislation related to transgender Wisconsinites, including banning trans girls from sports teams.
that align with their gender and allowing for civil action against medical professionals who provide gender-affirming care.
I'm trying to look up here.
I just want to see somebody here.
How many trans athletes are in Wisconsin?
Probably
such a little.
There's
no information because it's so few.
It is so small.
Vining says, constituents are frustrated because they don't know where he stands on many issues, adding that education funding should be one of the top
Priorities for lawmakers, so maybe he's another one who just doesn't ever, ever, ever have town halls.
No.
We have news coming up next, and then when we return, geez, can't just die already, would ya?
No, Jeffrey Epstein isn't going away.

The Brewers have swept the Dodgers twice in two weeks and there are three sweeps in a row.
We should just get to win the World Series right now.
They should
just give it to us.
Yes, we are tight.
We have the exact same records the Cubs right now.
We are neck and neck tied for first.
I get to be happy.
for literally, can I be happy for 10 minutes?
Give me 10 minutes, okay?
That's all I ask for.
But yes, you can listen to wonderful games on terrestrial radio.
We are a Brewer's network, which is wonderful.
In fact, I know a WRJN can hear a lot of Brewer's
games
here.
And also a great thing about the app is that, say you're going on, let's say I'm going on a whirlwind European vacation, Jane.
I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm gonna go to Poland.
I just picked one country.
Poland, that's where my people are from.
And I say, but Jane,
I can't listen to Civic Media now, for I am too far away from Radio Tower.
What can I do?
You can listen

It is the These aren't the drugs you're looking for Allah Allah Obi-Wan Kenobi
There it is.
These aren't the drugs you're looking
for.
Hey, nerds, Star
Wars reference.
Stay tuned for that.
That is coming up at the very end of the show.
Around 1051-ish.
All right, I wanted to spend a little time on this.
This is from the Daily Beast.
Trump's poll approval craters, even on his top policy issue, a new CNN SSRS poll out yesterday,
show that 55% of Americans think that the ICE raids are going too far.
And another CBS News YouGov poll has found 52% of Americans say the Trump administration is trying to deport more people than they expected.
Yeah, it was going to be the worst of the worst.
the criminals, the criminals, the rapists, the criminals, the pedophiles, those were the people that we were going to be deporting and get them off our shores.
That's not what's happening.
And I've heard, honestly, like with the exception of maybe the far right, but even on Fox News and on CNN, on MSNBC, the major networks.
At one point or another someone saying a the phrase we all agreed the criminals should go We all agree the criminals should be sent away now.
I feel like depending on who you talk to The the the nuance behind that statement is about they need to go as long as we stick to due process as long as we don't just You know put them in a plane and slide into another country and there are people who will say well, what's the problem with that?
They are criminals
Their criminality does not supersede the Constitution and they are afforded the same due process rights as everybody regardless of their citizenship status.
Yes They are afforded that by the Constitution.
So it has been almost since the beginning a major Swear words show if you will I will not say the word out loud, but like it's not been it's not gone Well, but they've done it with such force that they don't really care about
the process, they just keep going.
And
the people, as you said, the people are not happy.
The American public, they're starting to see that this is a poorly executed plan.
And I think that's a big, there are more stories coming about these cases where they're getting rid of people without due process and discovering, oops, oh, he wasn't.
He wasn't a criminal?
Oh, well, too bad.
Yeah, this one, ICE secretly deported 82-year-old grandpa over lost green card.
Yeah.
Louis Leon was finally located in Guatemala, 82-year-old man.
He went to a Philadelphia immigration office.
He had lost his green card, so he went back to the immigration office
to get a copy of his green card, where he was then detained by immigration and customs enforcement, other one known as ICE, and then disappeared.
His family did not know where he was.
He's 82 years old.
And that's the other, you know, I briefly mentioned it a moment ago.
It's the disappearing.
If your family member is arrested or deported,
They should have a record or information as to say, all right, this is your family member.
They are here because of X, Y, and Z. Whether the legality of it all is not for discussion at this moment.
It's just the start of this person has been deported.
This is where they are at.
If you want to contact him, this is how you can find them.
But the term disappearing has been used so many times.
And people have to take it upon themselves, most likely out of their own pocket because the government isn't helping.
Right.
Now they have to hire lawyers to help them find their loved ones who were disappeared.
This 82-year-old man's wife who went to this immigration appointment with him to replace his green card.
which meant he was here legally.
He has a green card.
Said she was also kept in the building for 10 hours before she was released to her granddaughter.
After almost a month and repeated calls to immigration authorities, prison facilities, hospitals, and even the morgue, Leon's family was finally told Friday he was in a hospital in Guatemala.
This should not be happening.
No, no This should be a concern for all of us.
Yes everyone
and I will now They're looking at a story that was published on the 12th a Trump supporter who was living in this country for 43 years was denied reentry at the border had his green card revoked and was forced to stay in Canada quotes
I was definitely all for make America great again and having a strong unified country and a bright future for my five American children.
But now I feel a little differently.
Well, no doubt because this is also in this, you know, you have the 82 year old grandpa.
You have this gentleman who is a Trump supporter.
They're being thrown out of the country for various reasons and they're being told you're not allowed back here.
And they're this gentleman is probably saying, well, I have a green card.
I supported you.
Did he have a marijuana conviction from like a decade or so ago?
That's what they're using to get rid of people
now.
Well, that's also the line of justification for those who like seeing this to say, well, see, he's a criminal.
No, he's not a criminal.
They're fine.
He has a charge, but he's...
He's certainly not a detriment to this country.
And you know what?
He supports Trump.
I can't stop that.
But obviously, he's been here for 43 years.
With
five children.
He
has five children.
And I don't see anything about a massive marijuana distribution center in his backyard.
I think it was a possession church.
Yeah.
I mean, there are so many stories, story after story of individuals.
And the notion of, and I want to keep hammering this.
point home the notion of quote well if they just did it the right way if they just did it the legal way if they just did it legally then we'd be fine well we have case after case after case after case of people who did everything you wanted them to do people who people who are in this country illegally at first and then took the means to stay here legally going to immigration court talking to lawyers talking to everyone they needed to to stay here legally
still being thrown out, even though they did exactly what you wanted
them to do.
With immigration officials under increasing pressure from the White House, their goal, the dream number, is 3,000 people a day.
3,000 deportations a day, a goal set by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
Of course.
The problem is that having a quota like this
means ICE officials are detaining people with little or no criminal records.
This man, 82 years old, his family maintains he has never gotten so much as a parking ticket.
The latest statistics suggest as many as 72% of people currently in ICE detention centers have no criminal offenses.
That should terrify everyone.
I guess that's, you know, I hate having to see that people might change their mind when it happens to them, even though that's not always the case.
Either early on in this whole rigamarole, a young woman was arrested and was going to be deported.
And the husband was a Trump supporter.
And after she was released, she was released back to him.
She is now living in the United States.
They both said,
Yeah, we know this happened, but it needs to happen.
There is a process.
We still support him.
So I really, you know, I'm not trying to talk to the people who can't be turned right now.
I shouldn't say, can't have their minds changed or at least accept new information.
But you can at least, I don't know, maybe you can't.
Maybe you can't admit the fact that this isn't the best executed.
It's
like so much else with this administration.
It's the dog ate my homework administration.
There is no planning ahead.
There is no looking further down the road of consequences.
They just don't just do it.
Just do this thing and we'll deal with it all on the other side.
And it seems like a really not good way to run a government.
Absolutely.
And and you know, we're we're coming up to a commercial here and I want to, you know, we can talk about this in a moment about what the president.
also has planned for this immigration, I don't know, project with regard to if you are a U.S.
citizen who happens to be deported.
He's got some thoughts on that too.
We'll cover that when we return.
You can always join us at 855-752-4842.
You are listening to Matt Nair on air on the Civic Media Radio Network.
Stay close.
Good morning and welcome.
Welcome to Matt Nair on air.
Jane Matt Nair, Greg Bach, the board lord coming to you from our studio at Radio Park in Racine where you can always join us.
The number is the same if you want to call and or text at 855-752-4842.
Leave a comment if you're watching a live stream on Facebook, YouTube, and what used to be Twitter before the break.
We were talking about Donald Trump's immigration policy, not very popular, but 58% believe this is being handled incorrectly.
Especially because we seem to be deporting a whole bunch of people who have no criminal records.
That's a problem.
Yeah,
or that's a
problem
or or records that are so flimsy and Ex excusable that you're you're you're just gonna say oh you will take so jaywalking if someone like I'm not even trying to be funny right now
I can see them deporting someone with a jaywalking ticket at this point, and individuals saying, well, you shouldn't have done the crime.
You can't do the time.
I mean, that is just what we're at now.
Well, and again, now
they have a quota.
Yes.
They want to deport 3,000 people a day.
That's a
pretty big number.
That's a huge number.
I ran the numbers.
That's 1,095,000 people a year.
Yeah.
And in order to do that, to get that 3,000 number,
Seems like you're going to have to fudge a little bit on just how criminal these people actually are.
If you want to, they're more concerned about the number than the actual cases, which is, again, should disturb
all of us.
Well, and that to me is also something that we're at this point now.
We are five months in and we are deporting people with
no criminal records, flimsy criminal records.
We are, we are, we have been sidestepping due process.
We have been disappearing people to other countries.
We have been, we have been doing whatever we want because we can, because what is the recourse at this point?
You know, we don't have, you know, I'm not talking about like a war here, but I'm just talking about the fact that the people, our voices don't need to be listened to, to a certain point because they get to do what they want to do.
And it is just gonna keep slipping and slipping and slipping to the point where they don't need to disappear you or to deport you for anything other than they don't want you here.
They don't like you.
And by the way- You might have
said something mean
about the president.
And that's the other point is that I'm not talking about even, like right now it's primarily brown people.
That's who we are getting rid of because that doesn't fit into their framework of this country.
Even though some of these individuals are wonderful.
people contributing to society paying taxes no criminal records no criminal records but you know they're brown so we don't want them here but that doesn't preclude Americans either and I'm saying that all because the president in a press conference said on the matter of deporting us citizens quote we also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time many of them were born in our country I think we ought to get
Get them the H out of here too.
If you want to know the truth, so maybe that'll be the next job.
He said that July 1st.
He said that July 1st.
This is just a couple of weeks ago.
Yep.
At a press conference with Kristi Noem right next to him, with charts and graphs behind them.
This was not an off the cuff thing.
This was not true social.
This was sitting behind the presidential seal.
He said that.
there are people in this country who are born here who should probably be gotten rid of too because well maybe they don't do they're bad people well what does that mean bad people is that the guy is that the person who kills your family or is that the guy who got your coffee order wrong and once again not trying to be funny here i'm saying they're going to move the goalposts on what quote bad means to fit their needs to get rid of
the people in this country.
Maybe it's the people who don't like the big bill for billionaires.
Maybe they're upset that they're not going to get trickled on quick enough.
We don't know at this point, but I can tell you this much.
They have set the precedent from January the 21st to right now on the fact that they slide that scale, however, to fit their needs.
Well, and
he's already talked about.
going back and taking away people's legal status.
Yes.
That have already been legal status or have already been naturalized as citizens.
Yes.
And they've talked about revoking that now.
Yeah, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna just cut that part of the constitution out too.
Just, you know, maybe you just, just put a black marker through it.
Well, he likes shirts.
Maybe we'll just put another second amendment right there where the birthright citizenship section is just to reiterate the fact.
But yeah, this is, and.
And I'll just I'll stop right here with this portion.
I'll just say once again It's all fine and dandy until they come knocking at your door I guess because they will eventually come knocking at your door because eventually you will not be Good enough strong enough make America great enough enough for them and they will find a reason to do whatever they want to you
Yeah, I've never understood the logic about
Let me get cozy to the authoritarian because getting cozy with authoritarians tends to go badly for those who cozy up to them.
Just talk to a couple of Russians who've fallen out of windows in the last year.
Yeah.
Just in the last year.
Yeah.
Always, always works out really well.
Yeah.
It's
off.
It's off.
Never comes back to bite you.
Never backfires for the regular folks of this country who want to cozy up to a dictator.
You'll be protected.
I'm sure oh,
yeah wink wink We're gonna keep on this because this is very very concerning and especially again They're going after they disappeared an 82 year old man who is a green card holder.
Mm-hmm He had the legal right to be here.
Yeah, but chain.
He must have done something.
He's 82.
He's old.
We have news coming up next and on the other side.
He's still dead
Who?
Jeffrey Epstein?
That
he is?
He is still dead.
I never knew that.
But he just won't die.
You're listening to Matt Nair on air.
This is the Civic Media Radio Network.
Good, good morning and welcome, welcome to Matt Nair on air, Jane Matt Nair, Greg Bach and Calvin Butenoff coming to you live from our studio here at Radio Park in Racine.
You can always join us, call or text.
The number is the same, 855-752-4842.
You can leave a comment if you're watching on the live stream on Facebook, YouTube and what used to be Twitter.
Coming up a little bit later on.
in the show after 10.30.
We will lighten it up as we always do with a segment we call Audio Sorbet.
Get away from the news.
Talk about other things.
So we can all take a breath.
So Civic Media's genie of just about everything.
That's what we call her anyway.
Terry Barr is going to be joining us after the 10 30 news.
She is a great segment.
You probably hear across the network called a slice of Wisconsin.
So Terry's going to talk about that.
She's also very, very involved in the music industry in Madison.
Yes.
Big time.
Very, very cool.
Very, very cool.
It is.
So Max, it max ink already.
which is a great show that comes out of Madison on Saturdays from 6 to midnight, live music, live Wisconsin music.
Terry's been very, very involved with that.
So we will talk to Terry Barr after 10.30 and then we'll wrap up the show as we always do with this.
Shouldn't be a thing.
Today it's the, these aren't the drugs you're looking for.
These are
the drugs that
we're
looking for.
Move along.
Move along.
Thank you.
Star Wars reference.
I appreciate that Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Thought we would start off with this though.
Yeah, he's still dead, but he just won't go away.
Jeffrey Epstein still in the news as much as the Trump administration would love to see this go away.
This from the New York Times, Michael Gold with the byline.
This came out yesterday.
Days after the Justice Department asked a federal judge to unseal grand jury testimony related to Jeffrey Epstein.
Some Republicans and Democrats said on Sunday, the move is insufficient and they would like the release of more information.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, a grand jury.
Only gets so much information.
So prosecutors, from what I understand, prosecutors bring their stuff to the grand jury.
They don't show all their cards.
No, they do enough.
They do enough to get the grand jury to say, yes, we should move forward.
There should be indictments.
There should be subpoenas.
Such and though.
though, whatever.
But yeah, that is the point of the grand jury is to just set the
stage.
Right.
So it's limited information.
They aren't necessarily bringing out their big gun evidence.
When you bring it to a grand jury, you save some of that for trial.
Yeah, they're also bringing out everything because some things are extraneous in the moment and they just need to keep it concise or else it's could get murky and convoluted and people might say, Oh, well, what about that information over there?
and nothing happens.
Representative Tim Burchett, Republican of Tennessee says he thinks is a good start, but he would still like to see as many files as possible released.
Yeah.
That'd be a good idea.
Great idea.
Love it.
Love it, Tim.
President Trump has been dealing with a lot of criticism from his supporters over his administration's handling of materials related to the sex trafficking investigation of Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide.
in 2019 while in federal prison awaiting trial.
Nothing to see here.
Nothing to see here.
There's nothing to see here.
Trump and his allies, including Cash Patel, who's now the head of the FBI, right?
Yes.
Where's Dan Bungino?
Bungino is the deputy.
Cash is in charge.
Cash is
king.
Cash is king.
So Cash Patel and Dan Bungino both.
Spent months and months and months and months Calling for the release of the Epstein files because it's gonna indict a whole bunch of Democrats and that's what the Trump supporters were led to believe That you release this list of Epstein's clients.
It's gonna be all the people you hate The only thing is there might be some people you like
on
that list.
Absolutely.
Which makes things a little bit sticky.
I mean, one of the big sticking points too is that one of the names that would be on there prominently would be Donald Trump because both men refer to each other as their best friends.
They were very close friends.
And if I were Donald Trump, I would say release.
I mean, I'd say release it.
to say he's my friend.
We were friends.
You all knew this.
There's pictures of us.
You take pictures of your friends.
I don't have a problem with that.
But no, it's probably because there's something in the report that doesn't make it look good for the president as well as many other people.
And I just want to make it clear on the record on this show today for people to listen to in the future.
If there are individuals that I enjoy, support, respect, look up to, just barely even like maybe, who are in that report who have done things that are criminal, especially things to children, arrest them, throw them in jail.
Do all the things you need to do.
This is not about protecting anybody.
I like this is about this is honestly and and and We've covered it before this is about justice for the victims and their families and victims survivors and their families That's what this is about and because it's not being released.
That's what's happening justice is being held back.
Yes, and This past week we were on on the road, so we didn't we didn't get to it, but a supporter of his
was thrown out of a rally because he was holding up a sign of Jeffrey Epstein.
That goes back a ways.
Oh, it does.
Oh, I'm
sorry.
That's from when he was campaigning.
Oh, okay.
They were okay.
The way they made this sound like in his article here that it was recently.
Okay.
Well, still, I mean, that I don't care what had happened.
He did a rally.
Someone said, Hey, we want accountability.
And he had them thrown out for it.
So really, this is not looking good.
And
Jane, I'm gonna say something.
I know you might even laugh at it.
I feel the tiniest, smallest, itty bittiest bit of sympathy for Pam Bondi.
Because can you imagine, just listen for a second.
I'm not only talking about having to do the dirty work, being handed a piece of paper saying, tell them there's nothing wrong.
Make this disappear.
Make it disappear.
And just having to walk out that door in front of all of those cameras and just say that and expect...
expect at the very least few questions, let alone what is now happening, which is Cash Patel, Dan Bongino have said, there's rumors they may quit their jobs because of this, because like you said, they've staked their claims on this.
This has been- They
fed this to people for at least a year.
Over a year.
Oh yeah, they've been going on podcasts for years.
And they're not the only ones either.
Think about
all the influencers.
All the influencers who were handed those empty binders by Pam Bondi to come out and say this, we have the files, we have the files.
Oh my goodness, these files contain everything we already knew.
Yeah, and they were, oh my God, they were so angry.
I'm trying to, this weekend I saw that gentleman, the young man who is a, he is a admitted white supremacist.
Nick Fuentes, Nick Fuentes, if I'm not mistaken, went online and dumps all over Trump saying that like, you know, I never liked this guy that much.
I wasn't a huge supporter, which is baloney.
I mean, what's funny is that there are two, there are two, yeah, he calls them fat, which come on, man, that's not really cool at all.
But you have these individuals who are running away from it, who are saying, I was never here.
They're like, they're like Peter and Jesus Christ superstar.
They're denying their Lord three times.
And, but then you also have regular folks who are literally just saying, this is AI.
This is a hoax.
You're making it up.
There's nothing there.
Like they're changing their mind because people like Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro are saying, I don't want to hear about this anymore.
We have more important things to deal with.
But people like Meg and Kelly are saying, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Not only is there something to talk about, but you were a proponent of
justice for these individuals.
So where are you now?
And why are other things more important all of a
sudden?
Yeah, all of a sudden, this is not the driving thing.
Now we should all just forget about it.
Yeah.
They've been, they've been ramping up the base for a long time with this, promising them, promising them some red meat.
And then it's like, yeah, nothing to see here.
It's all good.
Never mind.
All those years we spent ginning you up about this.
It
was a joke.
And I've done this before and I'll keep doing it until, well, I'm tired of it.
But if you are a mega supporter, I know they're out there.
You let us know you're there.
What does this do for you?
How does this make you feel?
And honestly, it's okay to say, look, I don't like this.
I want more information.
I still am happy I voted for him.
Like you can live your life.
And I'm not saying just completely throw away all your beliefs, but
Can you at least say that this isn't good?
Can you at least say that this is a very, very suspicious, large point of hypocrisy on the side of the Trump administration?
And maybe the handling of it is not going as good as you'd like to see.
I mean, maybe you are one of these individuals who voted for Donald Trump because of this.
A lot of people did.
A lot of people said,
We wanted Trump because we know he'll bring justice to those who were hurt in the Epstein That's what you were promised.
That's what you were promised and I mean my gosh Donald Trump turning in and prosecuting on behalf of his best friend.
I mean, it's That's no greater thing.
You turn you turn on your best friend and say no these individuals are more important But now that's not what we're getting and I want to know if that bothers you
The other thing that Tim Bershet, again, Republican from Tennessee, also took up Trump's argument yesterday saying that Democrats had the chance to release the Epstein files when President Biden was in office.
Do you really expect me to believe that mega Republicans would have believed anything that came out of the Biden Justice Department related to Jeffrey Epstein?
No.
They would
have said,
It's all a lie.
It's all made up.
It's all baloney.
So please don't tell me that Biden should have released it because they would never have accepted it.
No, I mean, should they have released it?
Sure.
It was legal and they could do it.
Yes, absolutely.
They should have released it.
I don't know.
Well, no, I do know why they did it.
It's going to incriminate a lot of friends.
It's going to get a lot of people in trouble.
But you know what?
Too bad.
Yeah, exactly.
Too bad.
Bad.
Mr. Birchette, by the way.
One of 10 Republicans who signed on to an effort to force a vote on whether the administration should release the files, the maneuver would require a majority of House members, and it did not pass.
So people like Tim Burchett are trying to walk the line about, boy, I really think we should get more information.
Am I going to vote for that?
Well, no.
I don't think I should vote.
I don't
think I should do that.
Then that just, you know, it stopped talking to me about the importance of protecting.
Children should be protected.
We should protect children.
Senator Amy Klobuchar, Democrat of Minnesota, said the president blaming Democrats for this disaster is like the CEO that got caught on camera blaming Coldplay, which just happened last
week.
Amy Klobuchar likes her jokes like I like my creams.
Topical.
That's a topical joke.
Klobuchar
also blamed the public's clamoring for the files on the right wing, including Donald Trump, who she said so distrust in federal prosecutors over the case.
Yes, absolutely.
They spent a lot, a lot of time on that.
And then promising it's coming.
It's we're going to do right.
We're gonna
bring justice.
Well at least I'll give them one thing of all the things we've been promised in a two-week time frame at least they finally answered on some we didn't like the answer it's it's total bunk but at least they finally Something happened in two weeks now in two weeks.
We'll just be waiting for that health care plan and for that financial plan and all those things But yeah, this is and all the deals to be done.
I want to know I just want to know is this something that bothers you if you were a Donald Trump supporter Does this upset you do you feel let down do you feel lied to you?
855-752-4842.
They sure don't want you talking about Jeffrey Epstein.
What do they want us to talk about?
We're doing squirrels on the other side.
Stay close.
You're listening to Matt and Air on Air.
This is the Civic Media Radio Network.
Welcome
back to Matt and Air on Air, Jane Matt and Air, Greg Bach.
Calviente on the board coming to you from our studio at Radio Park in Racine.
You can join us at 855-752-4842.
We'll leave a comment if you're watching on the live stream on Facebook, YouTube, and what used to be Twitter.
Okay, a couple things.
First of all, if you're listening to us as a podcast, you're not going to hear our intro music because of...
Copyright stuff.
But Calvin does a wonderful job of curating bumper music, which is what you hear at the beginning, the end, if you're listening on live radio or the live stream.
So what I'm going to do right now, Calvin, what is the name of that song you just played?
That was from our television's greatest hits collection secret squirrel.
Okay, so what I would like I don't know if this is possible Whenever we talk about this topic from now on that's the theme music so you can hear it because that was Amazing that was great.
It was perfect.
We're talking squirrels In other words just another distraction from the Trump administration because they don't want you talking about the fact that Jeffrey Epstein just won't go away.
Yeah
So what's the latest squirrel thrown out by the Trump administration?
He's not going to let the Washington commanders have a new stadium if they don't revert to their original name, the Redskins.
You know, that
good old fashioned slur?
Donald Trump threatening to block a deal for the Washington commander's new stadium if the American football team does not revert to their original name.
They dropped the Redskins in 2020 after a review.
It was considered racist and offensive to Native Americans, been that way for a long time.
They called the Washington football team during the 2020 season, then changed it to the commanders in 2022.
They signed a deal in April, giving them the okay to build a new stadium where RFK stadium is.
And now Trump says, quote,
I may put a restriction on them that if they don't change the name back to the original Washington Redskins and get rid of the ridiculous moniker Washington Commanders, I won't make a deal for them to build a stadium in Washington, unquote.
I was thinking to myself, well, how does he have a sale?
I forgot it's in DC and he wants to run everything and Congress, I think, approves.
Congress approved so much in DC as a municipality, which is insanity to me, but, um, yeah, this is, I mean.
Is it, are we talking about it right now?
Yeah, we are, but this is more the fact that these are the things that are being thrown out to make you get mad and to divert the conversation into this versus the things that really should be angering us, like people being disappeared out of this country who are green card holders, have minor offenses, no offenses, US citizens, things that the children of US citizens being deported with their parents.
Those are the things we should be talking about.
This is a squirrel.
This is a nothing burger.
It's like
when he was talking about he's going to strip Rosie O'Donnell of her citizenship.
Was that last week?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Again, I call those are all squirrels.
Those are all in attempts by Donald Trump and his administration to divert your attention to things they don't want you looking at, including
what's happening with these deportations, including what's happening with them sitting on this Jeffrey Epstein news.
Just throw more stuff at it, throw more stuff at people, and then they won't, then they'll, we'll, we'll distract them.
Yeah, exactly.
And, and honestly, it's been a very, very effective tool over the past decade.
It's very much, I mean, the amount of things that have happened.
You know, there are the greatest hits of what Trump has done where we said, oh, well, he's done his career is over his political careers He's never gonna win with that attitude or saying those things or you know There's a whole host of greatest hits, but there are also even more where we thought Oh, that was the end.
He's doing where we have forgotten Yeah, you know like sometimes you need the reminder that he made fun of a disabled man on stage and you know Nothing happened to him, but I'm not gonna get in all it's just the point of
These are the squirrels.
These are the shiny red balls.
These are the things that are meant to make specifically the detractors of him get upset and
And his supporters well, he doesn't want his supporters clamoring for that for more information about Epstein Yeah, he's got to give them give them something else.
Don't don't look at this Don't I don't want you looking to you know, let it go.
Just
let it go so it goes away
I don't think it's gonna go away.
No, I don't think so either and and and the most important group of people the industry that's most important in this in this attack not attack but this plan is the media because we live in a 24-hour media cycle where they need clicks they need engagement they need viewers and Every story especially about him be saying something outrageous Ridiculous or stupid is something that fills up half an hour to an hour where they can bring on pundits and talk about the thing and release a podcast and we listen and we say did you hear about that?
he's doing with the Washington football team, that's the point.
And they've been very good at it for a decade.
But no, not anymore.
Don't let it happen.
And especially, especially when we were talking about before with the Epstein files, if you are a Donald Trump supporter, and this is something that bothers you, don't let the squirrels get you either.
Keep asking the question.
Keep demanding answers and demanding justice.
You are entitled to that.
It is a public document that should be released to us.
Again, going back briefly to Epstein, I do think Democrats are like, yep, if there's some of ours on there, if there are Democrats on that list, well, then they need to be held accountable.
Yes.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
That's fine.
Yeah.
Do it.
Yeah.
Do it.
Absolutely.
And I don't see that happening so much on the other side, no matter who's on the list.
They should face consequences.
I'm sure their consequences are just become more saved than they already are.
Is
that
possible?
I mean, you're right, Jane.
They are the most saved of all saved.
But yeah, it's when they're, I don't know.
I actually don't know what the squirrel scale is.
Like, at what point is the story a real thing or is it a squirrel?
We'll have to debate this off the air.
We'll have to get the Matt and Aaron air science department on this.
We'll break it down.
We have news coming up next, and then when we return, we'll lighten it up with Audio Sorbet and Civic Media's Terry Barr stay with us.
You were listening to Matt and Aaron air on the Civic Media Radio Network.

We call her Civic Media's genie of just about everything.
Emmy Award-winning Terry Barr is here.
Good morning, lady.
How are you?
Oh, Jane.
Now I gotta live up to that.
Thanks so much.
Good to talk with you guys, Greg.
And you call him Dr. Slide.
Dr.
Slide.
He has many names.
Calvin has many, many names.
We're always looking for more.
You can always... Oh,
yeah, we should actually do a new round.
We
could do a new round.
You can
always send
in suggestions
to janesaysatcivicmedia.us, J-A-N-E-S-A-Y-S.
Jane says...
at civicmedia.us.
But, Terry, you really do just a plethora of things around the Civic Media Network.
And one of the things that you do that is a really great, you do, it's called Slice of Wisconsin.
Indeed, yes.
It's one of my favorite things to do.
Basically, I do a little research, find out fun facts about different places or people or things, hopefully, you don't know about Wisconsin.
We've had some great ones and I kind of want to go back because we did a slice, I think it's already two years ago, about some fun facts with EAA.
Oh,
that's right.
Yes, which kicked off yesterday in Oshkosh.
Oh, and you and your show last week, it was so much fun.
I have such a fun spot for EAA and Oshkosh.
I went to college in Oshkosh, and then I worked in Green Bay and Wausau, and then back in Green Bay, and who knows where else after that, but we got to cover EAA during those days.
isn't it special?
It really
is.
It's
a remarkable thing.
And one of the things that I love so much about the EAA, and we have EAA chapters here, by the way.
Yes.
But the Young Pilots program, the Young Eagles
and the
whole Young Pilots program, which they have scholarships for, which again, learning how to fly is expensive, and flying is an expensive hobby.
But
If you have someone in your household, you know, one of your kids is like, geez, I'd really, that's what he's drawn to.
They have scholars, they have scholarships available.
You should, you should really check it out.
And
why not encourage that?
Yeah.
Yeah, you hope every kid can find something that really matters to them, whether it's music or art or sports or flying.
How about
that?
What an
opportunity.
When we were talking, and I know you Nick, you know, Dick Dupinski from the EAA, but we were talking to you about just all of the other jobs that are available in and around the aviation industry, including mechanics.
And there's there's just all kinds of things if flying.
specifically isn't your lane.
There's all kinds of other things around it that might work for you.
And they're good paint.
Yeah, I think we need people and that's okay.
We need people in the tower these days.
Yeah, well, and it's funny.
I've been watching the flight patterns.
I know now you're gonna get my geekiness here watching flight patterns coming into Oshkosh
Oh
during the weekend we drove up for a baseball tournament my nephew's tournament in Shawno and Driving back not only was there a flight pattern in the air that you could watch overhead And then I had it dialed up on my phone as well.
It's crazy
But the backup to get into EAA, everybody with their campers and RVs, it was just really fun to see.
I know it's such a special time for everyone.
It's a big trip for people coming from all over the world.
And something that Dick told us, I believe he told us off the air, too, is the fact that they open up the campgrounds on the 27th of June, and they say they have hundreds of people waiting to get their spot, their spot.
And they will spend the whole month in Oshkosh as part of this celebration.
a very, very big thing and people fly from all over the world.
As they said before, it's the busiest airport in the world for one week.
And the energy that we had just, and we were there the week before, was palpable.
And the room we were in, we were in this hanger that was converted into a museum.
Was beautiful and it was there was it was almost you were overcome with emotion because you have all these examples of the of the of the planes and the helicopters that were used in various actions and wars throughout this country or throughout the world I should say and the and the and the pair that with the excitement that the workers we talked to have for not only the event but EAA itself is just it makes you want to go again and again.
So yeah, it was a volunteer Greg.
I
don't you
like to drive a golf cart?
Is that what I heard?
I was told I was told golf cart jobs were available.
And I will take a
I will take a volunteer position.
I'll even sleep on the golf cart.
I don't even need a hotel room But yeah, I think it would be a lot of fun.
Just wear a red shirt be like hey, hey, hey, you can't park that you That's Steven Janney
and then he's gonna have the vest on like
a
yellow vest
with
the orange Oh, and then he's gonna be totally official watch out.
Don't you see?
Terry all the power don't give him a flag.
He'll be insufferable.
Oh You want to talk about flags?
You want to talk about flags, huh?
We'll talk about flags
Yeah.
Oh, there was a brief.
I'm like, there's a story there.
There is a
story.
When we were in Hayward on Friday and the Lumberjack Fest, the Lumberjack Championships are going on.
And so there's a big pow wow that was going on too at the same time that we were up there.
And so there's a lot of the main street crosses a main freeway.
Yes.
that it's 51, isn't it 51?
That's right!
So the main street crosses a freeway, so they have orange flags on your side of the street, and then you need a flag person as you're crossing the street so you don't get killed crossing Highway 51.
I
was the flag
bearer.
Oh no!
It kind of came naturally, you know.
Yeah,
I'll go first.
At one point she took the flagstick and she
Banged it on the ground as if she was going to spread the seas like Moses And then she was like follow me to freedom or as I call it the grocery store Yes, exactly
you guys had way too much
fun.
We had an absolute blast.
I mean
It was so fun to listen to your shows I actually watched you on YouTube most of the time and I Enjoyed it so much.
I think I actually had
a tummy ache sometimes from laughing
so hard.
So thank you for that.
Oh, well, as we said, it takes a lot of people to put something like this together.
And we're just so grateful for everybody at Civic that helped us pull this off because it was a blast.
It was a great team.
And it was great to put a proverbial face to the locations we were talking about for so many weeks and months now.
Butternut isn't just a place with a cute name that we're like, oh, there's a Butternut, Wisconsin.
No, there are.
Now there are people there that we have talked to.
There are people there who have invested their time, energy and lives into that community and it's important for them, it's important to us that their stories are told and amplified so people know about them and at the very least know of them if not go...
take their time and their dollars to those communities, invest them through the vacationing or maybe artwork or whatever, or get food at the Butternut Cafe.
The food, as they say, is okay.
They do.
They have a big billboard outside of town, outside of Butternut.
And it says Butternut Cafe.
The food's okay.
To me, that is the most Wisconsin thing.
It's like, we're not going to oversell and tell you it's the best food you ever had because that's kind of pushing it.
But we'll just say, it's okay.
And
it's so funny.
I think that is so funny.
If you're just joining us, Terry Barr is our guest.
We call her the genie of just about everything here at Civic Media.
You hear her on a slice of Wisconsin and so many other things.
And I wanted to mention to Terry,
When we do things like we did last week when we go on the road, you take our shows and you turn them into pieces for the web.
You do a great job.
You try
and succeed, Terry.
Come on.
Stop being so Wisconsin for 40
seconds.
Exactly, right?
And I've lived away from Wisconsin, so I should know better.
I should bring some attitude in.
Come back here and you just become Wisconsin again.
It's born into us.
You can't get rid of it, but it's true.
You are so right.
You are so
right.
There's so much coverage from you about our trip.
And we really appreciate that.
And that's another reason to go to civicmedia.us.
Go to the website.
It's not just about, it's not just about the radio.
It's not just about, you know, we have wonderful talk stations and we have musical stations, but we also have news stories.
And those news cover local national state politics.
They cover sports, weather.
If you go to civicmedia.us slash news, you can find out all about the things we're covering, including
the wonderful stories that Terry Barr publishes.
Yeah, you really do a great job, Terry.
And Terry doesn't do that just for our show,
but shows
all across the network.
So again, we know you can't listen all the time.
You have a life and you have children and you have parents and all those other things.
But if you want little recaps, you can always find that at our website at civicmedia.us, right, Terry?
Absolutely.
It's so fun to write about what you are doing.
I still need to write your Hayward story, by the way.
I didn't get
a chance to do that.
That's
why we brought you here, Terry.
We brought you here to talk about that.
We're still waiting.
Excuse me.
Hayward doesn't wait for anyone.
Well, it's going to be fun to re-listen and write it today.
And anyone else who kind of wants to relive that with me, please take a look at it on the website.
It'll be up.
probably pretty quickly and just laugh and enjoy all of the little things and fun things that you and Greg and of course Todd Alba.
I did a slice a year ago about a little you brought this to mind about a little cafe outside of Eau Claire and the guy who owns that cafe brags about his pies.
He still serves a piece of pie for a dollar.
Every single pie is homemade or handmade, I guess I should say.
But they're selling something like hundreds of pies every single week.
And it was just one of those stories that he was a hoot to talk
to.
So
that made it even better.
Yeah.
So that's kind of those slice things.
And in watching your shows, I was thinking, ooh, I think I might have found some new ideas for a slice of Wisconsin, too.
Well, and I was going to ask you about that.
We got about two minutes left, Terry.
OK.
That everybody has a story.
Yes, everyone has a story and you don't have to have a big job and it doesn't have to be an important job That has nothing to do with anything Every all of us have a story to tell about either where we're from or what we experience growing up or and that's a lot of what you do I
Really believe that so much and Jane and Greg I feel that from both of you, too You know just an example of watching you last week and the guests
You've let them tell their stories, whether it was about their business or whether it was about growing up in, let's say, butternut.
What is that?
Oh my gosh, it's just so fun sometimes.
You know, we were in Shawno and we sat down at a little cafe there and I might be a little, you know, my ears are always kind of going.
We're always dipping in, you guys.
We are.
We're always listening.
We are.
We're so curious and we do.
We're so grateful to anybody who wants to share their stories with us.
And we're really lucky to tell those.
Yeah.
It's just it's one more piece of our connectivity.
There are things that divide us.
But again, we were looking for what makes Wisconsin great.
And what makes Wisconsin great is all the different people, including the job just about everything.
Civic media's Terry Barr.
Thank you.
Oh, I like it.
We're going to have you back.
Terry Barr.
Thank you so very much for your time.
Appreciate it.
We got happy month.
Happy Monday.
This shouldn't be a thing.
These aren't the drugs you're looking for.
Edition is on the way.

She really does, but she does these great little one-minute pieces called Slice of Wisconsin, so we were talking about our road trip last week.
And yes, we were in Butternut, and yes, Paul from Wisconsin Rapids, we do know that DVO, Wisconsin's own, owned the Butternut Cafe for two years.
The location downtown, I believe that was the location he was at, was a downtown location on the corner.
That's empty.
That's empty.
That says a sign that says eat on it.
That's the remnants.
Yeah, we went to the...
The bigger, newer, improved.
Tastier.
Tastier.
But it was so good.
The
sausages were
so good.
Yeah, it was fantastic.
So yes.
Todd, all our travel colleague and companion, you're going to be joining us tomorrow at 9.30.
We will.
Do a little recap of our trip, maybe talk about favorite moments.
There were lots of them.
There were a lot of great moments.
And then, of course, all the news because nothing ever happens.
Once we get off here, Greg, it's just calm and
fine.
Who knows?
Maybe when we get off here today, someone will make a huge announcement that will be, I don't know.
It could be.
It could
be.
We'll never know.
We'll never know.
Stick around, by the way, Tom Hartman will be taking over after the 11 o'clock news.
Tom Hartman from 11 to two.
And then Todd Alba from two to four.
Maggie Dawn from four to six.
Pete Schwabba with a little entertainment news.
He does a great show.
It's called Night Light.
Great way to wind down towards the end of the day.
Join Pete Schwabba for Night Light from six to eight PM.
Right now though, Calvin, it is time for
This shouldn't be a thing As always if you find a thing you think should not be send it into Greg and me at Jane says at civicmedia.us J A N E S A Y S at civicmedia.us Calvin found this one.
We've been sitting on this for a little bit.
Yeah, this is from WT am I don't know where that's from Radio the Tony with the byline
headline reads man arrested with drugs in bag labeled definitely not a bag full of drugs For the second time this year What the second time this year someone got arrested after drugs were found in a pouch with a label saying there are no drugs in here during and this was
Wisconsin, this is our own.
During a traffic stop in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, police found a vehicle connected to a wanted individual.
Once the canine unit was alerted to potential contraband, they searched it where they found a bag, definitely not a bag full of drugs inside the vehicle.
Not surprisingly, inside the bag, not full of drugs or drugs, cocaine.
A loaded gun, drug paraphernalia, and some money.
For future reference, police rarely fall for that.
When it says, definitely not a bag full of drugs, and it's printed on it.
It's not like someone hand wrote, definitely not a bag of drugs.
No, they bought this bag.
Yeah, I'm looking at it right now online.
It's very nice.
It is something they purchased like an Etsy shop or something.
It's
got a fun font.
Uh, what I really enjoy is that like there was, you know, uh, there were drugs in the bag.
Mark definitely not a bag full of drugs, but there was also a gun in there.
And to me, I want to believe that the cops were like, wait a minute.
It didn't say drugs and guns.
There's a gun
in here.
There's a gun in here.
Oh my God.
Almost fell for it.
The, uh, driver, a 37 year old Kenosha man was arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon.
Maybe next time should there be a next time?
No, there will be
probably I don't keep your drugs in a bag that says definitely not a bag full of drugs.
It's a thought I Don't know if he probably just thought it was funny and not that it was actually gonna fool anyone
I was once I by a client of mine was a guy who worked in a chocolate factory.
It was not Willy Wonka nor an oompa-loompa, but he used the stevia
Product to put into the chocolate give it sweetness and stevia in its original form is a white powder
Looks like okay
very very expensive had to be under lock and key So he gave me a little cup of it and he's like here cuz he was like being funny So I just wrote on a little piece of paper definitely not cocaine and I gotta say no one ever busted me So I guess I'm doing better than my brethren from Kenosha Definitely not a bag full of drugs
But it was a bag full of drugs that wraps up today's episode of This shouldn't be a thing
Thank you, Greg and Calvin and all of our engineers.
Without you, nothing works.
And thank you most of all.
for calling and for texting and for listening.
It means the world.
I hope you find some joy today, even if it's just a little bit and you have the chance to share it.
Keep it right here.
We got news coming up next.
