doctors in the field said yeah, that's not true, right?

Well, he had some comments yesterday about people with autism and for anyone listening who might know someone who is on the spectrum or you have a son or a daughter or a cousin or a sister or a brother I Think you will find this very interesting here is Robert Kennedy Jr.

This is an individual tragedy as well.

Autism destroys families.

More importantly, it destroys our greatest resource, which are children.

These are children who should not be suffering like this.

These are kids who, many of them, were fully functional and regressed.

because of some environmental exposure into autism when they're two years old.

And these are kids who will never pay taxes.

They'll never hold a job.

They'll never play baseball.

They'll never write a poem.

They'll never go out on a date.

Many of them will never use a toilet unassisted.

And we have to recognize we are doing this to our children.

talking about, I take so much issue with that statement, how it begins, because I don't have children, but I know,

I have friends who have children who are on the spectrum.

Autism doesn't destroy the family.

It affects the family and then the family together comes to the solutions, finds a way to live and lives as happily as they can.

This idea that it destroyed, like it was just such a, and yeah, we got people on the phone who are wanting to, but I just, it was such an offensive way of speaking on this topic and using children to put forth a point that has no basis in

science.

When he was speaking yesterday, said that his department's mission is to end autism and he said he's going to eliminate it within months.

It's been studied for years, but that's OK.

RFK Junior says he's going to have the answer, apparently.

by September.

That's how you know he belongs in this administration.

This is the same administration who is telling us that we're still waiting for a new tax plan for the middle class.

Not to mention

that health care plan.

So I actually, when I was in college, I listened to a speech by this reporter from England who followed this doctor around on his speaking tour.

So this doctor, Andrew Wakefield is the one who did this original study that was put in the Lancet and then they retracted it.

He

actually still goes around and talks about that study and how like he was wronged.

he lost his medical license because he manipulated the study and he actually lied to parents in the study.

There was like 20 kids or less and he actually like was using them for money through the study and was like praying on them, essentially.

Yeah, and he's completely discredited, but he still goes around and that's why he was a big Jenny McCarthy.

Just, just to me, Cassandra, just to be clear, I want to make sure I heard that correctly.

He goes around, goes around and talks about how he was wronged as in like he was done bad or he's talking about how he was wrong.

And I say that just to be in compliance.

I can't even fathom anybody hiring him.

to HUD, the health organization.

I have two grandchildren who are autistic and they're both wonderful young adults now.

They've

managed to make it to the toilet all this time.

They graduated from high school and with extra help from wonderful teachers.

caring, giving people, and he doesn't know a thing about people with autism.

He has no right to say that he's got the cure for it.

He is completely nuts.

A few things.

I have a, I think last week of the week before was Autism Awareness Week and I have a friend from high school whose son is autistic and she's a mega, mega Trump supporter and she, you know, was posting, oh, we need to, you know, fund research and all this while they're trying to cut, you know, research and Department of Education and all.

And I look at the big picture.

It's like you can't have

funding for research and cut the Department of Education to affect your child and all this other stuff that's going to affect your child in so many ways because he's autistic and still support everything that's going on.

You can't have it both ways.

And the other thing is, is I was watching a clip from Boston Legal where Alan Shore was defending a guy who was suing a church that tried to do conversion therapy and promised conversion therapy to a guy who was homosexual.

And in his

closing argument, he said, well, you know, you, you probably have restless leg or you have, you know, depression or you have this.

Well, guess what?

There's cures for all this and there's drugs for all this.

The pharmaceutical companies are making all this money.

Then why aren't they making money for people who are gay?

Because there's no way to cure it.

You can't cure it.

And that's my thought with autism.

You can't cure it.

You can't cure certain things, you know, it is what it is.

Director Robert Kennedy Jr.

speaking out yesterday on autism.

He has long claimed that vaccines cause autism.

Now he has announced that the department is going to shift its research into autism toward potential environmental causes.

This is kind of moving away.

I thought it was completely the fault of vaccines.

That's what he's been claiming for years.

Apparently it's like

I mean, I'm not even if it's like pollen, like you take in a certain environmental toxin and

boom, autism.

He says research into genetic causes is a dead end and assert asserts.

We know it's environmental exposure.

We do.

We do.

Who's we and what do we quote unquote?

No, human health and human services will fund a series of new studies to identify precisely which environmental toxins

are causing it.

Now, I am not a scientist.

I'm not a researcher.

And I would certainly think that, yes, there might be things in the environment that are part of this issue.

At the same time, we have the Trump administration that is gutting regulations all over the place.

So if this is true, how on earth are we going to

find out about it?

Well, I'm sure they'll be, because it fits the narrative, Jane, as we've seen before, is if, whether we're talking about tariffs or we're talking about people just have money, if it fits the narrative of the Trump administration, they will find the money to fund these, these, I don't even want to call them

studies

because there are already so many studies showing what, where you can find autism coming from.

And this whole idea of we know, by the way, that's something you and,

Robert F Kennedy have in common neither one of you scientists know and neither one of you are researchers, but at least you're saying who knows and I mean It's pretty easy to search studies on autism and to disregard it's like it's it's it I mean I Also find it funny coming from Robert F Kennedy, Jr.

A guy who's an environmental lawyer who?

Wants to protect the environment.

What does he say to people who say well?

Climate change isn't real, it's not man-made.

We do, well, those studies, they're not experts.

They don't know anything what they're talking about.

It's almost like, how does he feel when people say that?

Now he's saying to science's face and doctors, researchers and studies saying, we know what causes it.

You don't,

we'll cure it.

Well, and don't forget, it says directly in project 2025, they are only going to fund research, which is going to agree with the beliefs.

of the Trump administration.

That's why they'll be funded.

Exactly.

Exactly.

So they have a predetermined outcome that they want to come to, and they're going to fund the things that will support that outcome.

Why is the Trump regime doing away with EPA regulations?

Well, exactly.

They're gutting all of our regulatory agencies.

And now he says he knows that it's environmental toxins causing this.

So we should trust the validity of whatever study they fund.

For what we're talking about here, I'll just finalize my thoughts with this.

This is a man who had a failed presidential run, who at the last minute, when he knew he was done,

called Kamala Harris' campaign saying, hey, pick me, I'll do something for you.

And when they said, nah, you're good, we're fine.

He went over the Trump side and he sold his soul for this.

He didn't have much credibility to begin with, but he lost it all when he decided to glom onto that poisonous

group.

My autistic son is 23.

It's his third year at UW Oshkosh studying computer science.

Many of his autistic friends are brilliant and will not only hold jobs and pay taxes, but will figure out ways to solve problems that a neurotypical mind would never think of at all.

Trump administration says, yeah, we can't do anything about it.

Well, it's not our problem.

El Salvador's president says, yeah, no, I can't, no, I can't do anything about it.

Yeah.

And I said, I said it before I'm going to repeat myself, uh, once more, many times probably it's, if anything, come out and say, we won't do it.

He's a gang member, blah, blah, blah, racist tropes.

I'm a, I'm a monster, but they're literally putting up their hands like a shrug emoji going, what am I going to do?

Too bad.

A federal judge.

Earlier this week said she will order sworn testimony by Trump administration officials to determine if they complied, I think they didn't.

No.

With her orders to facilitate the return of Mr. Garcia, U.S.

District Judge Paula Genus in Maryland issued her order after Trump officials continually refused to bring him back.

She says they defied a clear Supreme Court order.

The Supremes all agreed.

Yeah, nine to

zip.

Clarence Thomas looked at Kagan and said, yeah.

And she said, yeah.

And the unanimous decisions do not happen often anymore.

And this one did.

And I think we have evidence of them not complying by the fact that Mr. Abrego is not here or Mr. Garcia is not back.

He could have jumped on the plane with the president of El Salvador, but he didn't.

And also as, and let no one tell you differently, he's

There is no proof, I should say, that he is a member of a gang.

Even though, right now, Homeland Security is doing a disgustingly hard charm offensive on trying to make it seem like he is a monster.

And I don't know how you did because the networks covered this like they had landed on the moon.

Yeah, they made it.

They really did.

Yeah.

Jeff Bezos' space tourism company, Blue Origin, shot up because that's what it was.

It's space tourism for the wealthy.

They launched six women into space, including pop singer Katy Perry, CBS Mornings host Gail King, his fiance, Lauren Sanchez,

Also, Amanda Nyan, an ex-NASA engineer.

I'm sorry, she's an activist.

Ex-NASA engineer, Aisha Bow, and film producer, Carrie Ann Flynn.

The suborbital flight lasted less than 11 minutes.

This has been done before William Shatner was along for the ride, one of the last times that they sent Blue Origin up.

I guess my biggest...

gripe with this.

And I think this is cool.

And if I were given an opportunity to do this, I would sign up in a heartbeat.

I would.

I don't have any money, but if they were going to give me a free ride on it, yeah, I would go.

You can't call them crew.

You've been harping

on

this one.

Crew implies duties.

Crew implies responsibilities in making this thing fly.

If I go on a ride at an amusement park, and it shoots me off the ground, I don't say I was part of the crew of that ride.

I'm a passenger.

Right?

They were passengers.

And they got a great ride.

It was for

11 minutes.

A multi-million dollar ride, granted.

And I think this is great, I guess.

It's fine.

Was this groundbreaking because they were six women?

I guess.

But

Not really.

I'm sorry, but like they didn't.

If they would have went to the moon or the ISS or had a project, fine, but it was literally a bunch of famous rich people or influencers who got to go on the world's most expensive roller coaster.

Right.

So yeah.

I'm sorry, but I know I'm a dude, but I stopped trying to paint this as, this is a big deal for women.

Historic,

no, no.

Are there women involved in building this thing?

Are there women involved in the creating blue origin?

That's historic.

Let's talk about that.

Let's talk about them.

But the six women who got to go for an 11 minute ride, again,

That really grinds

I like it's the, it's the, it's the, you know, not the, not the syntax.

Gail King is upset because she's getting pushed back on this quote.

Jeff Bezos has so many ideas and the people that are working there are really devoted to making our planet a better place.

There was nothing frivolous about what we did.

So I'm disappointed and saddened.

And I also say this, what it's doing to inspire other women and young girls don't ignore that.

I'm not.

I've had so many women and young girls reach out to me, men too, by the way, that say, wow, I never thought I could do that, but I see you doing it.

Well, most of us aren't going to be able to do it because we can't afford it.

Yeah, and the one and the ones who influence the young girls to get into the sciences and Space travel space travel and things like that are the astronauts him before her.

Again, would I like to go along?

Absolutely would I would I jump at the chance?

Absolutely, but

Please don't say that you're part of the crew.

Like you actually did something to make it fly.

You went along for a nice ride.

I just literally like how I agree that

it just grinds me.

The semantics of it all for you is what's... Before we go to break, I want to say real quick, someone on the text line asked about a congressman named Riley Moore of West Virginia who was allowed into the confinement center and had solved it or given access and...

took selfies.

Oh, nice.

And yeah, and just to let you know who, what kind of person he is, he posted on Instagram, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me.

And yet he's going down here and taking pictures with people who could possibly be illegally detained and imprisoned.

So apparently it's really not about

It is about your party and what you're supporting.

Big do-ins in Green Bay next week for the NFL Draft.

You must be a very busy man right now.

It's it's a little crazy, but very very exciting now.

This is a long time

I was gonna say this is something that Green Bay has been after for years

It has yeah, probably eight years or so.

We've been working on Attracting it here when it left New York City We looked at the size of Radio City Music Hall and we have a venue here.

That's bigger.

So we knew we could do it There you go

Has the NFL draft always attracted this much attention with thousands and thousands of people wanting to be in the room where it happens?

I am not that involved in football culture, so I didn't realize this was a big deal.

Yeah, it got double booked at Radio City in New York, so the NFL kind of had to take it out on the road.

And they took it to Chicago.

Fans loved it.

And it really gives the NFL and the players and fans a chance to kind of interact outside of a game day.

And you know, it's an exciting time.

I think the best part of it is no one's going to lose at the end of the day.

There's no losers.

So everybody that comes, fans from all 32 franchises, all kind of, you know, good fun ribbing each other, but having a good time celebrating the game.

When do the festivities really get underway next week, Brad?

What can people expect if they're going to go to the draft next week?

Sure, a lot of people will arrive on Wednesday, but the draft actually starts on Thursday.

And there's what's called the NFL experience.

It's kind of like the state fair of football.

They have all different exhibits of Super Bowl rings and what locker rooms look like, that kind of thing.

But the stage show then starts at seven o'clock on Thursday, and that's the first round.

The best players, so to speak.

And then Friday, it starts at six o'clock, and that's round two and three Saturday at noon, and that's four through seven.

So seven rounds of picks.

Wow.

And where is this all, is this happening at Lambeau?

It's just outside of Lambeau Field next to our expo hall.

Lambeau Field isn't even big enough to hold that size crowd.

We're expecting probably 120,000 to 150,000 people.

We'll be there on that first day, about 250 to 300,000 over the three days.

So yeah, it's a great opportunity for us to show off the community, but there'll be 55 million people watching on TV from all over the country, all over the world.

So it's a great commercial for us.

Absolutely.

you know, to have the opportunity.

My budget couldn't pay for it at that size.

No kidding.

Seriously though, and but I think already Lambo is kind of a an NFL fans, the holy grail of places

to visit.

You have to go to Lambo Field.

Yeah, we hear over and over, it's a bucket list item.

And you know, for this, the actual admittance, general admission to the draft is free.

Oh, so it's an amazing opportunity to come and see Lambeau Field.

The field will be open, even though the actual draft will be taking place outside of it.

So great opportunity to see it.

Great opportunity to have fun with other fans.

Weather sounds like it's going to be great.

We're still knocking on wood.

It sounds great.

The figure's crossed.

Yeah, so it should be a wonderful time and there's a lot of things that the NFL is doing to really make this Wisconsin You know, we've got some supper club kinds of concessions little fish fry on Friday night Nice, so some things to make it Wisconsin And give us an opportunity to kind of promote the rest of the state along with Green Bay lots of opportunity for repeat visits So we want to make sure everyone has a great experience

Did I read correct, Brad, that

Brad Paisley is doing a free concert there as well?

He is,

yes.

That was just announced today.

We've got some rappers.

I might be a little old for remembering all those names, but they do have live entertainment throughout.

You know, Oneida dancers, we're really trying to bring forward some of the culture at Green Bay, too.

I have a feeling there'll be a polka band somewhere along the way.

Perfect.

So it's just going to be a great time.

Brad Dole is here from Discover Green Bay, and we're talking about next week's NFL Draft, which really gets going on Wednesday.

I saw something this morning, Brad, that said,

There are still some rooms available if someone is listening and they're like, ooh, you know, we should go to that.

So people can still find accommodations.

They can.

And we see people are reserving all the way from Green Bay to Milwaukee.

But what often happens with an event this size is some of the blocks that were being held adjust some of the people that were planning to come can't come.

So a couple of rooms drop off.

So that's what's happening.

We do have some availability, but not difficult to find a place to stay between us, Appleton, Door County,

Um, down over toward Manitwaka, toward was, uh, people will be able to find a place.

Now they made the, if I'm not mistaken, Brad, they made the announcement late in 2023.

So we had a good long time to start preparing for this.

When something like this happens, what do you do?

Like, what's the first gear for you?

Is it just got to reach out to the business?

It's got to start getting a support.

Got to answer questions.

Like where, what's the timeline from announcement to next Thursday for.

yes that's kind of all of the above yeah we uh we had all of the hotel rooms that the nfl in their vendors needed a lot of our venues all of that was on reserve as soon as we put the bid in

Because if they announced, you know, that it was coming here, of course, that space would be gone.

And yeah, sure.

We wouldn't have anywhere to hold it.

So all of that was taken care of well in advance.

We went through a period where we were working with the NFL to contract all of that space once the announcement was made.

Lots of community questions.

What does this mean?

And, you know, a lot of things we didn't have answers for at that point, broad closures and

where things were all going to be, but it really is the NFL's event.

We're just providing support for them.

So a lot of those questions had to be answered by them.

We provided support as far as marketing as they were releasing things that we could use.

We started marketing the events, helping people find out where the rooms were going to be, overnight stays, transportation, how to get around.

We've helped with shuttling all of those pieces.

So it's been a pretty big job.

Now it's a lot of media talking to media and explaining what's happening and answering questions.

So it's really been a tremendous opportunity.

And I will say the NFL, wow, they are pros in doing this, the detail that they put into this.

Is really remarkable.

I've never seen anything in it like it and I've been in the business for about 40 years.

Oh, wow They're they're detailed.

They don't miss a thing and we're very confident in security as well That group started meeting almost immediately with Homeland Security FBI

NFL's security, our sheriff's department, police departments, Wisconsin State Patrol.

Everyone is involved to make certain we're providing a great experience and a very safe experience for visitors.

Brad, what kind of economic boom do you see for Green Bay after an event like this?

I mean, we must be talking about millions and millions and millions of dollars.

Yeah, for the local area, we're figuring about 20 million.

Wow.

For the state, probably more like 94 million, because we know from previous drafts, people drive a lot of people about 65%.

So they're going to drive through Racine.

They're going to drive through Eau Claire from the north to south.

Unless you swim, you have to drive through Wisconsin to get to Green Bay.

So that's why the impact for the state is high as well.

Well, you got to step for lunch, right?

You know,

and

get a crinkle and get some, get some

custard

and yeah, exactly.

Cheese from the castle.

Right.

One of the things too, Brad, Brad, that's going to be great is I love, I love, I mean, you're going to hear this all weekend is people talking about how much they come to love Wisconsin almost immediately and how I always hear this.

I had no idea.

And then they say that thing about Wisconsin.

And to me, Green Bay is one of those great cities.

Cause I don't know if there's another city with a football team like this, but.

In Green Bay, it's like, oh, where's the stadium?

It's next to Bob and Carol's house.

It's right there.

It's not the city center.

It's not like, it's just like, oh, Steve's house, Bob's house, the stadium.

I'm

interested to hear the impression of people of Green Bay and Wisconsin.

You know, one of my favorite stories so far, we were talking at the NFL about parking, and we're asking homeowners to park like Game Day on their lawns.

And when we were putting the amenities together, we said, you know, we should

make sure people understand what's available at that house.

And they're like, I mean, other than parking, it's like, well, bathrooms and they're like bathrooms, we're like, yeah, they tell you the bathrooms, the second door on the right, when you go in the front door, they're like, they don't let people in their house.

It's like, welcome to Wisconsin.

Yes, we do.

That is so priceless.

And you can use the good hand towels, too.

We'll let you use the fancy ones because you're a

guest.

So it's been pretty nice here in Racine, and now all the clouds are moving in already.

So how much?

Nice-ish weather we're going to get before it starts to rain.

Oh,

I feel bad for you.

I've got a lot of sunshine right now.

You can see it shining through the window and all of that.

But yes, those clouds are creeping in.

They're going to take over the entire state.

So we're going to have to wait for more sunshine until Saturday.

But we are looking at some crazy different things going on here.

So we've got a warm front moving through, right?

Temperatures are pretty comfortable right now.

It's a little bit breezy, too.

Still in a high fire danger, though, because we need the rain.

Yeah.

And there have

been, and there have been, I consider this a shocking number of fires.

When I think about wildfires, you know, I, I know what happens in Wisconsin, but it's not something like we hear about, like in California, which is a regular occurrence.

But because we have been so dry, this is a growing concern.

And we've had a whole bunch of wildfires in Wisconsin.

Yeah, we've actually had a record number of wildfires.

I think they've almost nearly doubled just this year and that's only a few months.

That's not only into April.

No, there has been 500 more than 500 over 2000 acres and Just last week we had 112 and burned 200 acres So every week, you know, and it's from the fact that we're cleaning up our yards We're deciding to burn the debris and then the winds are breezy and it's just

All that dead vegetation is just whew, lighting up out there.

So even sparks from equipment, those are the cause as well.

Looking cigarette butts can be.

Don't do that strikes.

Don't

do that.

And then one of the other other concerns too about this drought is that we're coming into planting season two.

Am I not wrong?

Yeah,

yeah.

So it definitely are.

And those farmers need that moisture as well.

So

it's.

Is there one area in particular, Brittany, where these wildfires have been more prevalent?

No, they've been everywhere, unfortunately.

They're all over.

Mm-hmm, yep.

Now, drought conditions are staying far northeast and far southwest, but, you know, we just need everything to green up.

So we need the spring weather.

We need this rain.

We need the thunderstorms too, I guess, because that's going to give us that heavier amounts where we aren't looking at picking up a good half an inch to an inch of rainfall over the next 36 hours or so.

And is that statewide?

Yeah.

Oh, that's good.

That's good.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also thought that thunderstorms were important for releasing ozone into the atmosphere.

Oh, you know, I don't know too much on that topic, but I have heard that.

I can confirm it.

I just don't have too many details on it.

But it also pollen, when you have rain beating down on the pollen that's budding, it's going to burst more pollen into the atmosphere.

That's not good news.

Hello, allergies.

Yeah,

it's and this is something too.

And I've seen several articles about this because we are warming.

It is making pollen season and allergy seasons worse for people.

It is yeah, it really is because there's just more pollen out there It's lasting longer.

I mean the season is about three weeks longer now And you've got the warmer temperatures and more ozone is just kind of sticking around and the wildfires are deteriorating the air quality too on top of it Which is adding to those allergies increasing.

It's just a whole snowball effect.

Yeah

Well, and please, please be mindful of the fire danger.

Absolutely.
