Um, big win for Susan Crawford, a big, big win for judge.
Oh my God.

And
it got called before, what, 930?
I think, yeah, I'm saying, I believe it was 912 when the first, because I told you this before the show today.
I went around 7 45 last night.
My stomach just started to hurt.
Cause I'm like, all right, polls close soon.
And so I just decided to turn it all off cause I had to go to, we have to go to bed early.
I get up real early to produce for Pat.
And so I was like, I'll just, I'll just look at the results tomorrow morning.
And then I picked up my phone to look at a text message that came through.
And as I'm picking it up, it just comes across.
It says.
I think it was Washington Post calls victory for Susan Crawford.
Susan Crawford wins.
And then I was just like, and my whole body- Just feel it relax.
Yep, my whole body melted.
I was in bed and I'm just like, and I pulled my dog, pulled Mabel close.
I'm like, when did it?
I started kissing her.
She's like, okay,
that's fine.
Can I just sleep now?
Yeah, I ended up turning off the news at 5.30 last night.
It's just like I need a break and again the the ads were still running during the news breaks
it was it's just like I'm turning it off And I went to bed early and I read for an hour and then I woke up about one o'clock in the morning and couldn't sleep
Yeah,
and because I hate surprises.
I got up and went downstairs and fired up the computer and She had won Jill underly beat Brittany Kinzer as superintendent of public instruction in Wisconsin
As I expected this, I know Todd Alba has talked about this, the constitutional amendment requiring photo ID passed very handily.
And a lot of that was expected.
But I guess what grabbed me this morning, I saw somebody say on one of the social media channels, well, now with this, Democrats are never going to win another election in Wisconsin.
I got news for you when we went to vote yesterday.
Yeah.
That requirement was already in place.
Yeah, it's it was a law and people still voted and they voted for individual with it.
They voted for a person who is going to uphold the courts, who is going to uphold justice, who is going to be fair and impartial, who is not going to be a support support system for Donald Trump.
And Donald Trump actually said the same thing about because once they knew they were going to lose
the judges race, they put all their chips down on the constitutional amendment.
And there's something Jane, very telling about that from the comment you read to what Donald Trump said about the, the, uh, constitutional amendment.
If you think that that happening is going to keep Democrats from winning, then you already said out loud that that is a measure of voter suppression.
You can't get around it.
You can't get away from it.
You are saying that you are you have have already rigged the game
it's a law.
It is.
It's now going to be the Constitution, but it was already a law.
But by saying what you're saying, you are and other Republicans have said in the past, there was, I believe a GOP stalwart in Pennsylvania said that with voter ID, we're guaranteed victories for a long time.
OK, so you're saying it all out.
Yeah.
Just embrace it.
Yeah.
Just embrace it.
Drop it.
Stop trying to pretend it's something else.
And Todd Alba has talked about this extensively on his show.
And I really encourage you to listen.
I mean, he was a Republican up until 2011 when the Republicans started talking about ways to suppress the vote among people who might not vote for Republican candidates.
So Todd's talked about that a lot.

Someone who values hard work, common sense, honesty, and who can tell right from wrong.
Someone who watches out for people But I've got to tell you as a little girl growing up in Chippewa Falls I never could have imagined that I'd be taking on the richest man in the world For justice in Wisconsin and we won
It's Decisively I mean Decisively Decisively and might I say decisively again.
Yeah, because in 2023 now justice Janet Persewitz also had a Resounding victory called early and everyone sort of just said oh, okay,
this wasn't the race We expected it to be that the people of Wisconsin have spoken they are protect they protect
their state, they love their state, and they, and that sort of victory sends a message.
I mean, think about those words, Jane.
As a little girl, I didn't think I'd be taking on the world's, not Wisconsin, not the town, the richest man on the planet.
Lex Luthor type stuff.
Yep, it really is.
And I do think, I think that this was a big referendum on Elon Musk.
Absolutely.
And Wisconsinites,
don't like really rich people from out of state coming here and telling us what to do.
It's the third time now.

But I have to assume because of this big 10 point win for Susan Crawford, there have to be Republicans who voted for her.
I absolutely agree.
I mean, the repercussions I can, you know, we will, as you said, talk to Dan about, talk to Dan about those.
There had to have been Republicans who voted for her.
There was just too many people.
By the way,
Kudos, Wisconsin, for turning out
spring election.
Over 2 million people.
I think it was 2.1 million people voted.
That's a huge turnout for a spring election.
But then also, what is this going to say to the insiders in Donald Trump's world that maybe Elon's overarching just everything and everyone's face isn't the best brand for him?
This shows weakness.
So I asked this question yesterday of Todd or no of Joseph Heckey Will Republicans now start to feel like they might have the courage to peel away out of for fear of primaries Being ostracized closed closed out, right?
Will some Republicans now stand up?
We will find out or we'll take a little bit longer.

Talk to people and listen and don't try to convince.
Listen and give them alternatives that they can organically glom onto because it works here.

But because of civic media, you actually get a different chance to actually take in a different position.
So thank you, civic media.

I guess about $50 million to win this race.
And then one donor on their side to put in $25 million.
We need to restore government back to we the people, not corporations and the oligarchs.

People love Trump, but maybe they don't love everybody supports.

Well, I have mixed reviews.
But first of all, let me just say that everybody does not love the convicted rapist, the convicted felon.
I cannot stand that man.
So I hate it when people say, oh, everybody loves Trump.
No, they don't.
First of all, second of all, I mean, I'm glad we had the wins we did, but we also got the voter suppression law in place, which is going to greatly affect the next election.
And like I said, on Earl's show,
We need to get ahead of this and start getting figuring out ways to get people who don't have birth certificates and things like that.
Being able to be able to vote for the next election.
I hear what you're saying, Cindy, but I do want to point out, again, that requirement for photo ID was in place yesterday.
And so, yes, this codifies it into the state constitution, but that requirement was already in existence yesterday and we won.
So, I hear what you're saying.
This isn't done, but I am not surprised that that passed.
I'm really
not.
And we also have a Supreme Court that maybe can, I don't know, take that up for decision and see how constitutional is in the first place.
That's possible.

And that goes a long way to how spreading the message of being pro democracy.

Yeah, which to me is so Wisconsin.
That's and I love it.

I don't I don't like that when they come in and think they can just buy.
And I anyway, I made a casserole.
But I think a lot of folks here feel like that.
And that's why I think Susan Crawford won by 10 points because I don't think it was just Democrats.
Who voted for her?

example here, Mike from Fond du Lac, Texan.
Who are the people who voted for Crawford, who said, who also voted for Trump?
We need to get into their thinking.
Honestly, I don't really want to spend too much time on that other than to say that I believe when it comes to Wisconsin versus a federal election, there are just different values at play here because I saw, I saw properties that had Baldwin and Trump.
Right.
Law and signs.
But when it comes to our courts, when it comes to the daily work of Wisconsin, I just think it's a different way of thinking.
And I can't tell because I didn't vote for Trump, but it shows that we are not a monolith, right?
That we are not, you know, if you are a Trump supporter, that means that you are just 100% red.
It means you just think what you think.
And if you thought Crawford was better than Shimmel, and if you thought Shimmel was better than Crawford, but you voted for
Jill Underly, I mean, that's just
how Wisconsin goes.
And that is why we are considered the swingiest of the swing states.

How are you feeling?
Oh, just teaching team this morning.

Yeah.
First thing I want to say is that I had high hopes that this would the election would go this way.
profit would win by close to double digits.
And the reason is simply this.
Every poll I've seen says that at least 75 percent, and it goes across the board, Democratic, Republican, independent, 75 percent or more people are absolutely against this wild.
spending in politics.
I think this was partially a referendum on that.
I think that Musk made a serious mistake by publicizing this and saying, look at how much we can spend and come in here being a cheesehead.
I mean, wearing a cheese hat.
And I'm quite relieved about the state elections.
One thing that I remember going back, and I'm an old guy, but I remember going back into the 1980s and during the Reagan administration and people said, if the Republicans implement all of their goals and policies.
We're going to see a backlash like you've never seen.
No Republican would ever get elected again.
I'm seeing what's happening at the federal level.
They are implementing all those crazy policies.
And I have high hopes that if we have, and this is the cash, we've got to have legitimate elections.
And that goes for every state.
We've already got states.
I think it was Georgia.
that's trying to implement is crazy.
You've got to have a passport to vote.
Yeah, those, yeah, those efforts, unfortunately, Jack, aren't going to go away.
And in fact, they were supposed to vote in the house tomorrow on the SAVE Act, which again,
has more elements of voter suppression built into that.
So we're not going to have a chance to get around to that right now.

I had a better feeling last night after I finished voting.
I was 617th in my
precinct,
about 630, 64% of registered voters in Portage County went to the polls.
That's big.
I was 167 at almost 130.
That was pretty good for my polling place.
That's great.

It is unlikely that this would have happened without civic media and matinee in there, of course.

And I signed the petition and I did this and I voted.

And now they're running a different one.
So I don't think that whole Elon paying people and buying people off.
I don't think that's going away.

But they can give out money.

Anyways, I think a lot of people voted for Trump because they thought he was going to be tough guy and lower these prices.
And instead they found out now they have a dictator.
So I feel like the vote yesterday was, you know, working families against these multimillionaires and billionaires that think they can buy our election.
But I'm really happy, you know, because I feel like every time I got a vote for women and they're right, which is.
really too bad.
But I have a quick question for you guys.
Does Milwaukee have a big immigrant problem?
Because when CJ calls in, that's all he cares about is the border.
And we don't worry about what he has to say about certain places in Wisconsin.
That's a bigger conversation and everyone likes to throw immigration problem plus big city to just try to take up the air in the room and it doesn't work.
It's a bigger conversation that we don't address, at least with
Him in regards.
Well, and again, and Todd has always said this.
He I agree with Todd that we don't like to call out specific listeners.
It's not about attacking one another.
I don't want us to attack each other.

And we have our own rules about who gets to get on our airwaves because we consider you an asset.
