And here are your hosts, John Minow and Jim
Schmidt.
Good morning.
Happy Wednesday to you.
It's a beautiful day in Northeast Wisconsin.
Little chilly right now, but it's gonna be okay.
Oh man.
Green Bay 43 out in 37 Oshkosh.
High in the 50s today.
We'll take some of that action.
Forecast, Todd, are we looking at rain?
No, actually it's higher
than 50s.
Don't we get up to like 67 today?
We could actually get way up there today.
Well, how about you get me some updated forecast information then?
Why is the floor wet?
64 for a high today.
Wow.
64.
I love it.
Today is like, it's not official, but you can tell there's more people in town.
Yeah.
Right.
Cause I even where I park, it's like, wow.
I was, and I'm going to say this, uh, put a little thing in my Facebook right next door to us, right in the other side of this wall, the new coffee shop opened up.
It's kind of a soft opening yesterday.
And I was, and it was, it was busy.
I was in there.
There's probably.
eight people.
Yeah.
And I talked to them and they were in for the draft.
Yeah.
They're all Packer fans.
They're up, but they're all Wisconsin people.
You know what I mean?
Remember we talked about that?
Yeah.
But they are, they were all from Wisconsin, but they were from, uh, Medford, um, little, like, okay, wherever those towns are.
Yeah.
I just, okay, we got to get,
I'm waiting to see other jerseys.
I was looking for some people
last night.
I went to a thing last night, but it was
I'm sure there's going to be lying jerseys and Viking jerseys, bears jerseys and stuff like
that.
But today's kind of like the pre today's kind of a kickoff a little bit.
Yeah.
You know, across the street.
That's that event.
Are you going to that's $800.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I just got a bar of $800 from you.
But there are today.
Did you guys know there's 16 events today?
That's a lot, I think.
That absolutely but I'll tell you what you cannot know one no one in the in the in the country the NFL whatever nobody can say that Green Bay, Wisconsin and Northeast I want to be on just Green Bay
that
are trying so hard to make this so good Everybody is doing their absolute best to make this good there.
I give everybody so much credit for that aspect of it So can I just say one thing?
I just hope the NFL doesn't bleep it up
Do
you know what I
mean, though?
Where it's not as, as, as user friendly or customer friendly as you'd want, because NFL has a little bit of reputation for doing that.
Well, you never talking before we came on.
The expectations of, when they showed on TV, it's like this group right in front of the stage.
Right.
That may not be us.
We ain't that, we ain't them.
What was the term, Todd?
What was the guy for the Super Bowl?
That ain't us.
That
ain't us.
They not like
us.
Oh, they don't like us.
Yeah.
People in the bowl, they ain't like us.
Yeah.
But we had a thing last night just a community shelter and little Caesars.
That was
a big thing.
It was a little thing.
Yeah.
And
you know, it was
big was how many pizzas that you guys have?
400.
Yeah.
That was a big deal.
A lot of people were walking out with a box of pizza, but
good
because my diet,
Marco Rivera and everybody was there.
Huh?
It's Marco there.
Yes.
Hi, Clinton, Dix.
Yes.
Yeah.
And that Aaron Jones stayed till he signed.
Every autograph
got this or a Mike big line for people getting into the Dan Patrick show this morning.
Well, I bet different jerseys
I bet and he was with
a legacy.
Where is that Mike?
Where is that?
I think he's a He was at legacy last night.
I know that okay.
Yeah with They raised money for the you know the GB men's basketball.
Oh Yeah, yeah, okay.
Yeah, so that's where it was last night.
Okay bar the bar the bar
on home grid.
Well, I bet because that's
I don't know how many you can see there, but once they're full, that's that's it.
There wasn't ticket pre-ticket sales or anything.
Just a walk-up, right?
Just getting line
and yeah, okay.
So
I remember when Rome came to town back when Rome was first getting big.
Remember that?
Yes.
97-8.
That was at the
stadium view.
That was a Super Bowl.
Is that what it was?
Yes, it was.
Okay.
He's he's here again, isn't he is
he I don't know.
I haven't
seen
him.
Do you know Todd?
I think one's here.
Okay, like three guys that are coming in for that But yeah, I just that Aaron Jones till and then some lady came wanted a picture with Aaron Jones and her dog and He did that and I would have said he doesn't have a handler and then I was like, okay, this is weird and the dog was not you know
Not as good as my dog and she she took this picture of the dog and then did some other stuff and then she came back and oh Yeah,
she
didn't like the picture.
Oh No, and he took it again.
Oh my goodness.
I don't think we would have done that Jen
Well, I will say this though Is that the real you talking now or is that the guy you're talking about before you went on the air?
Oh What me
You
know what?
I gotta tell you something.
I'm not used to working really long hours at a bar.
You know what?
My temper gets short.
And people ask dumb questions.
Maybe they weren't even dumb questions, but I took them as dumb questions.
They were last night.
So is that?
You're
right.
Okay.
Yeah, maybe a little both.
But we can start here.
Five and worked till eight.
That's a
long day.
And I used to do
that.
And I guess I
did
that
back in the day.
What do you think I
do on Fridays during football season?
Right.
Yeah.
What do you think I do every day?
Yeah.
But you're younger.
But I think maybe your nerves were a little on edge last night when she was doing that is what I'm saying.
Yeah.
That's what I'm saying.
She
wasn't the only one.
So anyway, it was great.
And then the NFL.
Hey, what was Aaron Jones?
He was wearing a Vikings jersey was no,
okay
when he spoke because they The three of them spoke and then the lady from New York the NFL lady And then the Little Caesars guy and then they gave us a check for 50 grand.
That's phenomenal.
Isn't
it?
Unbelievable got a text here.
Thanks, Jim.
Great time last night Michael.
Yeah, that was fun We're kind of hanging
out great to have you here Michael.
Good morning, everybody.
Vicky.
Hello, Vicky.
How are you?
Yeah.
Todd Stone has an update on our forecast.
I'm having some technical issues.
Our station is not streaming, so
people are texting in.
Oh, boy.
OK.
That ain't great.
All right.
We got a great show for you today.
Today is Wednesday, April 23rd, German beer day, picnic day.
Todd, you don't know what to do one day.
Oh, God.
I'm not a
picnic.
No, no, no.
That's what
I
was thinking.
This is a little red and white.
No, no, no.
No
little basket
right in front of his bike are those the most overrated things in the world?
Yeah, they are they never sit on your porch and have a sandwich, right?
They never show the flies
and I know I know it's that's overrated, but but anyway.
Oh, but anyway.
No, here's what I want to do with you Todd I Want to spend a day when we do like you show an Oshkosh I want to go to those bars you hang out in in Oshkosh Yep, and I want to have some of that like German beer the original like
was 150 years ago when they came to Oshkosh and started brewing beer.
Yeah.
And somebody's got some of those same, I want to do that one day.
Oshkosh, I look at Oshkosh as being our hub for beer.
Right.
And they would like to do that.
They would like you to look at them like that.
Yeah.
Because they truly are.
And just sample them.
You don't sample the different beers.
And then definitely, I mean, I'm vowing.
It's not even a question.
I'm going to go to every one of the people that were in our craft brewery thing.
Oh, absolutely.
And we got to go to the town of Dale.
I mean, there's just not even a question.
Well, later on this morning, just so you guys
know,
right before nine o'clock, we'll
announce all the
winners
of
the Mino and the Mayor's Top Craft pick.
So
we'll announce the Top Crafter, right?
And then we'll also announce the winner of the $250 in gift cards from all the sponsors.
Beautiful.
What time is that?
About 8.50 this morning.
8.50?
That's gonna be a good one.
And we would need to, if we're gonna go there, you know, they have these outdoor events.
I think that'd be even
more fun.
I agree.
It's also English Muffin Day.
You know, that's one of those things that are really good when you get them at like a restaurant or you're staying at a hotel and you know what I mean?
Yeah, but do you ever really buy an English muffin and take it home and do anything?
And he you know?
Yeah, no, you know what I mean?
Yeah, I don't go out of my way, but no, that's yeah Why are those breakfasts so good though at those hole when you go down?
No, why are those so good?
You don't have to make it.
It's the only time you ever make waffles Yeah, it's like those breakfasts are so whoever I'll tell you what
Biggest treat we ever had I my poor mother God bless Josephine.
So um, but she had pneumonia six times Okay, when as a kid Wow, she just kept getting them a double pneumonia.
I mean bad.
Okay, so she'd be in the hospital and For whatever reason my dad would always Do two things for it for the kids.
He would buy a case with the old wooden cases that would hold like 24 little bottles of pop You know what I mean like that team no, they're regular.
I mean and whatever you there be okay, but 24
I think that's what it held.
The wooden case is worth about 25 bucks a piece
now.
So he'd buy one of those for us.
He'd buy us a pop.
And
we'd have that in the shed.
And it's like that was the biggest thrill in the world that you could come home and have a bottle of pop.
And the other thing he would do, because my mom was there to make breakfast, he would buy those packs of the little individual cereal boxes.
Yeah, that was always
a treat.
Oh my god.
Was that a tree?
Why
were those better than the
big box?
They weren't but
you got a little box of sugar pops in there.
Yep, and that is
Christmas.
Yeah
Apple jacks.
Apple jacks is the
best ones that you never buy the full box, but you have the little ones.
Oh my
goodness.
Yeah, I was yeah, you're
right.
Oh Tony the tiger and all that was the so as much as we
Felt for my poor Josephine being in the hospital with pneumonia again.
We got pop and we got the little individual box of cereal.
So we are okay.
Sorry mom, sorry Josephine.
Got another one here from Tori.
Today is going to be the largest influx of passengers flying in with all the added flights.
Yesterday had many passengers from around the world and projected top draft picks.
Tori, keep us, keep us in the loop here.
Keep us in the loop.
Yeah.
Uh, we also got a thing here.
It's perfect time for the world's worst trivia contest.
Less listeners.
Brian.
Brian, you're so snarky.
Brian.
Brian.
617, come
on.
Brian.
But we love that about him.
Yes, we do.
And we want to keep him, because I
do see him texting Pete at night, giving Pete some
activity.
Oh, no, good.
Oh, that's cool.
He's double
timing
us a
little bit.
But Brian, you're always welcome to give us some help.
Pete coming your way from Madison this week, I believe.
I stopped in yesterday when...
Convoy was here.
I does also Cherry cheesecake day.
There's no I don't like cherry anything I don't like cherry pie, but cherries cheesecake I can handle you.
Yeah, I Yeah, I can you make a bad cheese.
Is there such a thing as a bad cheesecake?
I don't think
so.
I mean, there's really really good cheesecake though
Yeah, different levels.
Oh my god.
I'll be honest really good cheesecake best cheesecake I've ever tasted in my entire life and this is no lie is the stuff we had in the WSS studios when oh, yeah, that was
Did you bring your mom some
yes,
I did that was great.
She had to love it, right?
Yes, that was so delicious.
Yeah, wow and the cannolis.
Yeah Todd, where'd we go to?
That's um couple of weeks.
Yeah
It's also asparagus day I'm
the
grill.
Oh, I love this very
good.
Yeah, whatever.
I have grilled salmon.
I also want that's the one to that is yep All right, we got a full lineup for you folks
More about it when we come back right after
this.
Hey, welcome back, Mike on the Bear here, and a good luck in Wednesday morning, 38 degrees in downtown Green Bay, 43.
in Appleton, 37 in downtown Oshkosh at our WISS Studios.
Happy birthday, John Oliver, 48 years old, John Cena, 48 years old, George Lopez, 64, Valerie Bertinelli.
Man, I had me, I crush on Valerie Bertinelli back in the day, 65 years old.
Same age, right.
Man, she was just a pistol, wasn't she?
Yeah.
Is that a Todd?
One of the sadder...
I mean, so many rock stars didn't have great endings, but you never thought Eddie Van Halen would go that way, did you?
You know what I mean?
I mean, the Aussie Osborns and the crazies and the what?
But he seemed like a nice guy and he's with her.
Well, I don't know.
I think she was.
I mean, they were married.
Yeah, right.
She was okay.
And he just went at the end.
He was right
bad bad.
But we're just we surprised she was with him.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying But what I'm saying is she seems so normal.
Yeah, right?
He never heard a bad thing about
right Melissa Gilbert also dated the guy from the Beastie Boys for a while.
You're
right
I think the the you know the good girls like a little bad.
They
do don't they?
Yeah, they do they do that's why that's why the girls never liked me.
I was too good Whatever
Yeah, you saw my picture in the eighth grade which I still says the whole me is kid in my class Lee majors 86.
I took a leak next to Lee majors Thank you
Like right next to each other.
We've we've had this conversation that we all told stories about who we had Yes, I was at
a Michigan Panthers game against he owned a team in the USFL back in the original USFL, which I'm just gonna say this and I don't care Mega people.
You don't like it.
Donald Trump ruins the USFL The USFL was a great league and he owned New Jersey
And that that league was on the verge of being really good, but he wanted to put it into the NFL and it kind of threw everything to do on this.
I love the United States Football League.
There were so many great players.
It was it's mind boggling the great players they had.
Yeah.
I mean, Herschel Walker, when he was just unbelievable and Anthony Carter and Bobby a bear and Brian Sype.
I could go on.
Name a team in the U. S. F. L. And I'll tell you who's on that team.
Brian say played for Cleveland, didn't he?
Yeah, also playing the USFL.
Oh, yeah, Trump on NFL team someday
Oh, but I'm saying is that was a good league and I tried watching their game the other day on Sunday They a game was on just doesn't have any pizzazz just 10,000 people at the game and it's just
trying to reignite that
yeah
It's not it's that NFL is too far.
It's just it's
not gonna happen.
It's not it's not
whoa I saw Travis Hunter Sporting a Packers sweatshirt at Austin Straubel yesterday.
Come on Goody.
Is that legit?
Wow, is that Tory Todd?
Hey Todd, can you my favorite?
What could you stop paying so much attention to what you're doing over there technically to get us on the air and start paying more attention to us?
Don't let your little intern over there cause you problems.
Julie.
Let me just say I'm so sorry for you.
Yeah.
So sorry.
Wow.
So Travis Hunter.
Yeah.
He's that running
back.
Wide receiver defensive back.
Oh, who wants to play both?
Yes.
Oh, that's Terry.
Thank you, Terry.
Um, yeah, he was wearing.
Wow.
That's that.
I mean that's not gonna happen and I I don't believe
that do you think he come on wearing that
maybe just to be you know wow just to be Just to be whatever yeah, so yeah interesting yeah, that's gonna be
yeah, so are you what are you going to?
With all these events.
I mean if you you know, I
don't say
did you fill out your dance card?
You'd make fun of me
again.
I know
did you put out your agenda or what do you call it?
Well, I'm excited about with Mark Houston at the Bell and Sports Medicine
thing and that
And in the lobby, not in the lobby, in the parking lot is really cool.
Do you see
that setup?
Yeah, he sent me a picture.
I'm really looking forward to that.
All those nonprofits, all that food truck, so that kicks off tomorrow at four.
Do
you know what I don't own?
Yeah, quite a bit, but what?
Any Packer Gear.
Oh, come on.
I don't have any.
I mean, I got the hoodies, you know, but I mean, as far as for like, you know, because even Mark said, hey, when you come to our party, you know where it's like, I got visors and I got hoodies.
But I don't like this Brewer type thing.
You know what I mean?
I don't have regular Packard gear.
Ty, you got anything I can borrow?
Not really.
No.
No.
I mean, you're going to that event, or what are you going to wear?
Yeah.
I mean, got to represent, but don't please don't wear your, you know what I'm, you know what?
That's sport cool.
What you wore yesterday, right?
Yeah.
It looked really and Jim I have to tell you a lot of people told me you look really good in pink yesterday It
looks really good on you.
It totally I had so many people tell me that too.
I actually made a promo out of that
But don't wear one of your sweater vests from 1999.
Well, I I
like sweater
I know you wear a
lot of them, but okay.
No, I'm going to Yeah, I'm gonna wear something packery.
Absolutely.
Just throw it out there So yeah, it's gonna be fun.
Um, but I don't know about going to the draft draft
Are you going to that after I don't
know.
Okay.
Do you I mean I I'm still The wide-eyed here.
It's like what's really gonna happen with the draft doors are open.
It's like, okay
Well, if we go to that the doors open to the draft at five We're gonna go to Bellens party at four have some drinks and eat if the doors open at five and we go there at six It could be sold already.
I know I mean that's sold.
I mean, I know I know I don't know I mean nobody knows
We need to think of this stuff ahead of time.
That's what we have to use these people for.
Personal, personal, you know, personal gain.
Line standards.
Okay, here I am.
All right, goodbye.
Didn't we say we were going to do that as a business?
We did charge him.
We did do it.
Guys, we've had so many great ideas and we haven't.
You know what I was thinking too?
You know what I was thinking?
So the new coffee shop, as I mentioned, opened up right next to it, right outside of this wall that I'm
pointing at.
I think we should put in
A window.
A sliding window right there.
Wouldn't that be great?
And then we can talk to some of the people.
Hey, who's guy in your car?
Hey, what are you buying there?
Gaffiato, Machinano.
Hey, como está?
I was actually speaking Spanish with a guy in there.
How's that going to
help them?
We need to help them.
We need to drive through.
We got to figure out something else.
That's not going to work.
That's
not
going to work.
Why won't that work?
Well, the intern run the car.
Run the drinks out of the
car.
That's what we have to do.
Cut a hole
in our wall.
No, have him run the drinks.
They drive through service.
Oh my God.
That's awesome.
They can call
it in.
He runs it out.
They can stay in their car, in their pajamas that you wear, and you sleep in.
And then all the tips that he makes, he gives to us.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
Why didn't I think of this?
He's
an intern.
It's unbelievable.
It's fantastic.
It's fantastic.
Mine or the Mary?
Back after this.
For WGBW and WISS News, I'm Lisa Hale.
Hundreds upon thousands of people are expected to be part of the NFL draft activities in the Lambeau field area starting tomorrow.
Green Bay Police, Brown County Sheriff's deputies and other public safety officials have been running scenarios to be prepared.
One national law enforcement agency has been there and done that and will be lending its expertise to the mix.
The FBI helps with public safety during the draft every
year.
Like they did for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee last year, the FBI has been monitoring for potential online and in-person threats.
Special Agent in Charge Michael Hensel says there are no known threats to the draft this year.
Speaking of the draft, several area school districts have planned vacations during the draft to help avoid crowds and disruptions.
Green Bay Area Public Schools are off today through Friday.
Ash Wabanan Schools will have an early release today and
closed Thursday and Friday.
The Unified School District and Depeer will have Friday off and Howard Swamico schools will have an early release on Friday.
Denmark, Pulaski, West Depeer and Wrightstown all in the Greater Green Bay area are continuing with a normal schedule this week.
The EAA has over 750 temporary positions to fill for EAA Air Venture Oshkosh taking place July 21st through the 27th.
Positions include retail, security and event support, auto parking, camper registration, and even bartending services.
Retail and auto parking applicants can be as young as 14, security personnel must be at least 16, and other positions require individuals to be 18 years of age or older.

And don't forget coming up later on this morning around 8.50 we'll announce the top craft pick with the Mino and the Mayor's top craft pick promotion.
It went on for like 12 weeks.
You had time to vote online.
And this morning we'll announce the winner, the top crafter in the top craft pick promotion.
Plus we'll announce the winner of the $250 and gift cards for participating sponsors as well.
So that's coming up this morning around 8.50 with Mino and the Mayor.
Once again, here's John Mino and Jim Schmidt.
Hey, thank you very much.
Welcome back.
Happy Wednesday to you.
The eve of the National Football League draft.
Somebody let me know.
Somebody mentioned Dan Patrick.
And I know I saw something like this wherever listed.
Where are some of the other shows going to be?
Some of the national shows.
I know Pat McAfee, of course, is coming to town.
Where's he going to be?
Somebody help us out here.
You also got a couple of texts here.
Mino mentioned he got great cheesecake in Oshkosh.
Where was that?
Wendy.
Fox River Brewing.
Wendy, you got to go there.
She actually called in to ask that question.
Wendy, what was it?
We had like the caramel, almost like a turtle cheesecake.
It was caramel and walnuts.
Was that
made
with the beer or not?
Remember they
had
the candy
beer from Hughes?
It was a match with the chocolate.
Correct.
Caramel,
wasn't it?
I think it had some caramel
on it.
It was phenomenal.
It was so good.
That's the place we gotta go to.
Fox River Brewing?
Yeah.
Oh man.
Uh, I got a text here hanging out at Paradise Distillery tonight for Bluegrass and Bourbon Night, music by the Wick Snippers?
Whipper Snackers?
Wick Snippers?
No, Wick Snippers.
Wick Snippers.
Yeah.
Where is that?
It's brewery.
I don't know.
Paradise.
Paradise Distillery.
Where's that?
Paradise Club.
Remember that I knew In fact when I put that text up, I just made sure it didn't say paradise club.
Yeah, what okay?
You know the one thing that I haven't seen anything on that will probably be as busy as any place in northeast
Wisconsin.
He doesn't need advertising Gentlemen's Club.
Yeah.
Yeah, okay
just
throwing it
out
there
I know but you haven't seen any like you know draft specials should Quinta
You
know what I mean?
From Las Vegas.
What?
She's back.
And her sister.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The Shakwinta twins.
Candy
apples.
All right.
All right.
All right.
Could you go to the phone?
Diana's here.
Oh, hi, Diana.
Hi, how are you doing
good?
I apologize for talking about adult gentlemen's clubs here in
Green Bay.
I
know when
you're when
you're our next guest I mean you don't have a lot of those.
You don't have a lot of those at the at Heritage Hill,
dude.
One night
a year.
So
yeah, Deerhunter's Widow Special.
But all they do is churn butter.
Yes, it's a totally different thing.
You gotta dress like, oh don't even get me started.
Diana, what are the worst moments of my wife happen at Heritage Hill?
Oh gosh.
I had to be the judge.
of, um, it was your old butt, your old butt.
I don't know if you're working there.
Then Mr. Pelkey wanted me to come there.
They were doing the throwback.
You were doing Charles.
Charles.
He was a great guy, but doing the little hosts in the prairie things.
And we had, uh, the girl from little hustle and prairie, the mean girl.
And she was there.
And I had to judge the costume competition of all these little girls that dressed exactly like shortcake and everybody from little house on the prairie.
I've never had more.
I rate little girls in bonnets yell at me that when I announced who the winner was,
my mom worked at this until six o'clock last night.
And I
didn't.
It was so I just want you to know that about Heritage Hill events.
You've got to be careful.
And then judging
my fond memory was you made me read the Declaration of Independence in with.
the hat, the wool, all that.
I didn't make you do that.
I didn't make you do that.
No, they did.
Oh, they did.
They did.
Oh, that's what they do to people at Heritage Hill.
If you look at the 4th of July, and I did that a lot, one of them was in the 90s.
Yeah, I know.
I was there the day the guy, they
were doing the reenactment to
the Civil War, and the guy
passed out.
Oh, my God.
I almost did too.
Yeah.
So, Diana, I hope our event goes better this week.
It's going to be, the weather's going
to be better.
So, all right.
And it'll be indoors.
Well,
you're
indoors with that year
event.
Yes, it's a great event.
Diana, tell everybody about what we're doing at Heritage Hill this week.
Yeah, absolutely.
So on Friday, we've got a drafting the legacy of Jack Vinici's Transport Football, a panel of folks who are going to come in and talk about why he deserves to be in the Pearl Football Hall of Fame.
We've got his brother, Sam Vinici.
We're going to have his daughter, Valerie, and a handful of other people, Warren Gerds, Roy Spoils, Dave Robinson.
Um, a video by Mike, Mike Lombardi, um, all is going to just take some time to explain why he deserves to be on the Hall of Fame and hopefully have you sign that petition.
And once again, Jack Vinici was the Packers.
It didn't have the title of general manager at the time, but he was basically the general manager.
He drafted or was instrumental at bringing in 13, 13 guys that are now on the pro football NFL Hall of Fame.
No one in the history of sport, any sport you could imagine.
anywhere has brought in more Hall of Famers than Jack Finise did and he did it back when the Packers were terrible and he was drafting these guys the Jim the Jerry Kramer's of the world who's coming to town this week and the Dave Robinson's I mean Bart Starr Jim Taylor Paul Horny Reynichki on and on and on
I'm going to try to do something.
I'm going to be the moderator or host or whatever you want to call this for our event coming up at Heritage Hill.
And we want to invite people to come there and people are it's basically just to try to with it.
the pro football world, looking at Green Bay this week, we just feel like it's, and Cliff Wall is very instrumental in this.
It's just a way to kind of bring Jack Vanesey's awareness.
Bring awareness to it,
to the whole
NFL.
The 1000s, the 60s.
He died in 1960.
He was
only 33 years old when he died.
So why isn't he in there?
Don't know.
Don't know and I'll be honest with you.
It's disappointing.
That's incredible.
It's incredible.
It's unpressed.
I mean, I gotta be honest with you though.
I mean, I was there we were both there for the dedication of his Yeah, yeah, and I've heard about him I know a little bit more about him because they're hanging around with you But he's not a household name.
He's not and he should be in fact They tried to get him on the Packers in the bowl, you know the
ring of honor first step
Bob Harlan wouldn't allow it
I mean, I love Bob Harlan like greatest guy ever met in sports, but he wouldn't allow it because he said their rules were either a player coach or general manager and He wasn't his title was scout Even though he was the general manager of per he'd be like a player personnel director These days that would be his title and the Packers won't put him on the ring of honor I think it's terrible.
Yeah, so we're doing a big event at Heritage Hill Could give us a little bit more if you don't mind, Deanna
Yeah, absolutely.
So the event's going to start at one and then it's just going to go through all these different speakers that will go through his life.
Sam's going to talk about his early life up until he became the scout for the Packers and then go from there.
Yeah, I'm
sorry.
I didn't mean to interrupt.
Go ahead.
Yep.
But Sam's his brother.
Yep.
Sam's his brother.
And then Valerie's got a clip, a news clip that he was interviewed in.
way back when.
So that's going to be really awesome to see.
Yep.
And
the goal is to get people to sign this petition.
I take it, right?
Yes, absolutely.
He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame and Heritage Hill just wants to be a part of that.
And to bring
awareness to all the national media that's in town.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
So that's what we're trying to do.
Tell everybody where and when.
Yeah, so it's gonna be at Heritage Hill on Friday April 25th at 1 p.m.
There you go.
That's gonna be great.
And I think that's a It's a good start and I and I don't mean to say start But it is a little bit of a start that thing needs a little work.
It needs subtraction Yeah,
and they've tried before and you know with the draft coming to town here There's never been a better time for the NFL eyes to be on on this area and all the media and everything and I hope we get some national media there Have you have you heard anything like that?
Now unfortunately not yet.
Okay, you know who's also in town is that NFL films they were I know that's what I mean
There's I mean, this is the time
is
the place so we're trying to get the word out to anybody out there media wise Please you know, I mean one o'clock on Friday It's a little bit of a downtime because the gates are you know with the draft we later and everything so I hope people come out to here to chill for this
Me too.
I think that's and wow that That's amazing like you said and you're sure no one else has done that
No.
Wow.
No.
No, it's incredible.
What he did is, is my, he is, he was the main guy at bringing in all those players that became the glory teams, the glory years teams.
Jack Vinici was the guy that drafted every one of those players.
And I'm assuming he was a good guy.
They say it was phenomenal guy.
He got, it was, he died, like I said, he died at 33 years old.
He played football at Notre Dame and then got hurt.
And then he went into the army.
And when he's in the army, he got, I think it was rheumatic fever or one of those kind of things and that affected his heart.
Okay.
You know, even after it was, and so he was, you know, it's like 10 years later, it still had affected his heart.
And he, he was eating a piece of pie and like Thanksgiving day and died.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Really tragic, tragic story.
But, but the family, I mean, his brother became the Chicago Bears general manager and he was the guy that put together the 85 Chicago Bears.
I mean pretty amazing then his other brother of course here is a is a veterinarian in town
Yeah,
but you're amazing football minds
between that
family
The GM from the 85 Bears is he here?
He died.
Oh passed away a couple of years ago.
Okay.
Yeah, I know Well, all right, yeah, we got to get the community kind of gets behind this stuff.
They should do with Jerry Kramer
Absolutely my god incredible.
Yeah,
so
yeah, so tell us once again what where when and everything yeah
Yeah, so Heritage Hill State Historical Park at Friday, April 25th at 1pm.
We'll be having a panel campaign to get that petition signed for Jackson E.
C. Right, and that's a one to three thing, right?
I mean, there's an end to that.
Did
I
see that pretty much?
Okay.
That's why I thought we'd put an end to it.
All right, go on and on and
on.
Coming out could talk about Jack and how great of a person he was and how he transformed football for a long time.
So I
think that's great.
And that's great.
Robinson is going to be there, right?
Correct.
Okay.
Outstanding.
Give it to us one more time.
Yes, Heritage Hill State Historical Park Friday April 25th at 1 p.m.
Beautiful.
Thank you.
That's gonna be fun
Thanks All right, there you go to be good.
I think you're right.
There's there's other stuff going on But the draft is until what seven five the doors open and maybe people have will have been to Okay, so
okay, so okay, so your intern here was
telling us our
intern.
Well, whatever you want to call them
What do we call Todd?
Let's go.
This is Ryan.
Yeah.
No.
Yeah.
I don't really give him a title.
Okay.
All right.
He hasn't earned a title.
He hasn't earned a title intern yet.
He intern in training.
There you go.
There you go.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
I team.
So he says he's getting there two hours early.
Yes.
Is that a thing?
Is it going to be that big of a rush?
Tonight.
I bet.
Tonight.
Wow.
Do you have you seen a number?
How many that holds?
No, the whole parking lot type thing.
I haven't either.
No.
Have you tried?
No.
Intern boy, have you?
No.
Intern boy.
No.
We just called him.
IIT.
Intern and trading.
Okay.
Yeah.
Has anybody seen that?
I haven't seen how many it holds.
But the overflow does go to the bowl, right?
Is that like a
given?
Okay.
I'll be totally honest with you.
I mean, again, we're all doing a walk in space, but I'd like to go over there and see how far back.
You would have to be from the actual stage, from where Roger Goodell is going to be.
What I'm saying is, I think it might be a much better seat being in the bowl, because you're going to be watching on a big screen anyway.
I'd rather go in the bowl and sit there comfortably than be shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of sweaty people.
And in 200 yards away, wouldn't you agree?
I would, but then you're not.
Yes.
But you're not there.
You know what I mean?
I don't know.
Yeah, that's yes.
If I was hot
and sweaty and drinking beer, would you want to stand next to me for three hours?
Not even if you weren't, but yeah.
All
right, back guys.
that would help in cases like this one.
Now, state and local officials must step up to do something for these kids, since Trump and RFK Jr.
are gutting federal support.
Milwaukee's children deserve better.

Got some texts here.
Okay, Vinny was at the pizza party yesterday, says Tori.
I know, I know.
The pizza party was hosted by a guy.
Sitting this far away from me, and I said first thing this morning said hey venus at your party.
It was video Vinnie for Toronto my former co-host who used to come into our show?
I don't know John.
I was working.
I was working.
I was very busy I told you and not in a good mood by the end of the
night.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's gonna true Hey, he taught in this this I need to give tours
I had a
two guys
that have spent our lives getting up at five o'clock, four thirty, whatever in the morning, and working till late at night.
But John,
that was ten years, not ten years ago, six years ago.
You don't do that anymore.
Do you still do that?
I do a lot of events.
But you go home and you maybe... I never nap.
Yeah.
Whatever.
You guys both run out of here like at five after nine.
We sleep for a couple hours.
Snoozing by nine
twenty.
And then yesterday was just a straight four thirty till nine and I was I was very tired.
Yeah, so I was and I haven't done that in years like six years and so yes, I did not go and mingle I was
you should call any
later
today get him on the air tomorrow I would be
happy to meet with him give him a tour.
I didn't do that.
What time is he on?
He does mornings.
I know it's like early, like six.
I would say probably like us.
Is he
doing a show from Green Bay?
I don't know.
I would imagine.
Don't know.
We're guessing.
Call Nick.
Okay.
I've got a. You got Nick's number?
I'll see.
They're playing a song.
Is he here for the duration of the draft?
I don't know.
Maybe you could have asked him that last night.
What is that?
I've got a house on Shadow.
It's great food and we can go there.
I'll meet him there.
where I haven't heard of this before.
You have a house on
shadow?
No, no, no, no, I don't.
I got a friend that's invited us.
Oh, gotcha.
Hadn't heard that
before either.
So
it's great.
When is that tonight?
But now Vinny's in town and
it's like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He got it for the draft.
Financial guy.
When did you learn of this?
A couple days ago.
Okay.
He said, bring your friends.
So we should do
that, you guys.
I'm
busy.
But okay, that's fine.
I
didn't
really...
The extension was the Vinny.
So I'm going to, I want to
make up to it.
Yeah.
I feel
bad.
I didn't talk to him last night, but there were a lot of people and I was like, John,
he actually
put that on his Facebook, but the former mayor blew him off.
Yeah.
I was busy.
He did.
He put that on there.
I was busy.
He seemed like he was in a really bad mood.
I don't know.
Short tempered.
See, he looks really tired.
No, I
gave, um, what was his name?
Aaron Jones.
I gave him a tour and that took longer because people kept stopping them and.
I'll
tell you what I'll tell you
super nice guy.
I mean I was wrong when They let him go to the Vikings.
I thought oh my god.
He said and but Jacobs is a better running back Josh Jacobs is phenomenal He's a great great running but what I'm saying is this Aaron Jones in the time He was in Green Bay as good of a local
citizen
representative
man
Proud of being a Green Bay Packer, proud of living in Northeast Wisconsin, did incredibly wonderful things for our military veterans.
That was one of the really good guys that came through here.
As far as a guy, just being a good guy.
I put him up with Driver.
Yes, yes.
Very much so.
Just
embracing the
area.
And people, I told you one lady, she didn't like her picture with her dog.
She came back and he's like, he took another one.
Some of those guys are like, one picture,
I gotta get going.
Was Marco Rivera there at your place?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's a bigger guy, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, he was there.
Okay.
And then a ha ha dicks.
Don't don't don't.
Not
to
air.
Thank you,
Brian.
Besides
they're closed anyway,
Brian again.
You're so sorry.
I
know he
is uh Paradise distillery is located at the marina at Bay Beach.
They've been on our show.
Of course you guys.
They had the cool, the cool bottles.
Yeah.
Packaging's awesome.
Oh man, okay.
Uh, Vinicius was inducted into the Packer Hall of Fame in 1982.
That is true.
But again, they don't have them on the, on the ring of fame.
I don't know why.
So he's in the Packer Hall of Fame.
Yes.
Okay.
Uh, I got another text here.
Definitely more traffic around town this morning.
We'll see that's That's good to hear right.
That's like a barometer.
I drive every day the same route and today this person has noticed an uptick in traffic Well, that's good.
That's that means
okay.
So
again,
I don't know
anything technically humanly possible Okay, like I said, I smashed a shower shampoo bottle the other day because I couldn't open it I have zero patience for things like that.
So Todd yeah, can you hook us up with the one pass?
Or the I
you've got it it right here this guy right here This guy's gonna set you up with the one pass on your phone you can do that
and then the other thing set them up for put him on the Stadium view You can order as many tickets as you want on there, but put him on the stadium view You can't go there because you're not 21, but put him on there to are you 21 are
you
okay?
doesn't even know
his IIG's name.
That's
unbelievable.
It's
so disappointing.
Todd, we're surrounded by incompetence.
How do we get it done?
Well, I think we joined this crew and we do a very nice job of joining in on that.
Mine on the Mare, back of us.
Cold drinks, cold drinks, cold drinks, cold.
Coming to Northeast Wisconsin live from the Civic Media Studios and featuring TV and radio broadcast veteran John Minow along with the city of Green Bay's longest serving mayor Jim Schmidt.
This is Minow and the Mayor.
And here are your hosts, John Minow and Jim Schmidt.
Hey, thank you very much.
Welcome back.
Minow the Mayor here, hour number two, 97.9 FM, WGBW 98.3, 96.5 FM.
W ISS coming your way in Appleton and Oshkosh and of course on the AM dial 1100 AM and 1590 and of course the civic media app worldwide 38 degrees in Green Bay 43 in Alton 37 in Oshkosh zero wind like no wind whatsoever out there right now cloudy slight chance of showers for today highs in the mid 60s of 55
you're right
you're right 65 65 high in the mid 60s.
Okay.
I gotta ask this question.
Why?
I'm just assuming because of the Pope the other flags were at half mass yesterday Okay, that's
cool.
That's very cool.
Yeah, all right Um, we got a very special guest here.
We got Chad Francoor Meals with a friend and Chad get up at about three o'clock this morning drove down from Marinette Okay, did not complain about what a long day he's going to have the way some other people in the studio complained about what a long day they had yesterday
Todd?
All right.
Chad, welcome.
Chad, good morning.
So you have to be a part of this, Chad?
Chad, this is a great program.
And we're glad you're here.
Meals
with a friend.
Right.
We've talked about COVID and that people have lost and the socialization.
We've kind of lost some of that.
And isolation has kind of taken over.
You started a program up in Marinette.
And tell us about
it.
OK.
So what Meals with a Friend is, is more than just a meal delivery service.
a community driven program that delivers connection along with every plate, every time we connect with the phone.
So we pair volunteers to bring quick to meals or bring with a
little conversation with them.
Yeah,
yes.
And
the
camaraderie.
Yep.
And they share a friendly.
whether it's a friendly visit, a shared story, or a meal, or walk around a block.
Meals with a friend is about replacing isolation with companionship.
Love it.
That's awesome, because there's the meals on wheels, and you know, I think we all know.
But somebody drops it off.
And they're in a hurry.
I mean, they got another, you know, 30 meals in the back of the van, and they just don't have that time.
And I think some people would wish they could talk.
Yes.
And you offer that.
Yeah, and my grandfather, who passed away this past summer,
Voice that to me when he first when he first experienced it that that's exactly what he what they said They just give it to you and they leave
Well, they have to I mean they would like to visit too, but that's nice that you address that through your program.
Yeah, so you started this.
Yeah, I'm really impressed.
How do you get?
Both sides of it, right?
You got to have people like you like to visit or me or John or Todd or the intern we like to talk But then the recipients and how does that work?
Well?
So,
well, starting out, I mean, so this
is
brand new.
So
we,
we, we kind of, we're kind of in the works.
So, I mean, you just get started,
get the word out that this program is available.
Yes.
And so, and are you the contact?
Yes.
And you're starting in Marinette and then hopefully it grows from there.
Yes.
Okay.
Well, Marinette, Menominee and Pestigo.
Okay.
Yep.
and then hopefully it will get picked up by someone else that will, or we can get someone that actually knows how to do things because I only know so much.
then that's part of my crutch.
Well, you're lucky though, because we know everything.
Okay, well, heck.
I was
gonna say we know nothing, so thank you for coming in.
Okay, well.
I love the concept.
Welcome to our club.
Well, I just think, I do too.
We talk about this loneliness with veterans, and I see that's on your list,
but
just loneliness in general is, and people who have socialization actually live longer.
There's statistics to prove that.
Yeah, they're drastically in, okay, so.
It's a site and the only reason in isolation is it's not epidemic.
So in the 2023 the US surgeon Surgeon General found that loneliness is dangerous to health.
It's equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Yeah, think about that.
Yeah, that's unbelievable.
Got a nice texture chat from Jamie.
I heard about this on Facebook.
I can't wait to get more information.
Jamie.
Thank you, Jamie.
And I mean
just just the the the the like media or the response that I'm getting from people like they're they're they're saying hey hey help help me I'm like I would love to but I I only know so much and I only and I need help so
so let me ask why you're here that's why here we want to help too there's two sides right there's a bit in the we have big brothers on here there's
a
lot more
Little's and they're looking more for mentors, but what are you hearing?
Are there more people that would like someone to visit or do you have people?
Are you looking for people that can deliver the meals and have the conversation both well?
Well, we deliver more than
meals low.
We understand that companionship like friendly visits is it two things we do we deliver meals and then and then we do friendly visit
right and
friendly visits are about four five minutes to an hour
And with the meals so and they just in the friendly visit is just interacting with them and asking them about what are the what are they excited about for the next week or so and What are they looking forward to and stuff like
that?
Well, I would think one of the things you'd look forward to would be those visits
Yeah, I mean it's
great to have
something to look forward to right so with the people who would sign up Would you look like them to commit to once a week?
Yes,
oh at least and
Or
more?
I'm asking, I don't
know.
More than likely, yes.
And currently we have about four to six volunteers that I can trust.
But obviously this is a volunteer mission, so we need that to grow substantially if we want to affect the population.
that we want to serve.
Okay, let me ask you this, Chad.
Just as far as how it works, just the mechanics of it.
When you say meals with a friend, does that friend bring a meal to that person or where do those meals come from?
I mean, just know that part of it.
Yes, the volunteer makes it at their home.
Got it.
And it takes it to the clients.
Got it.
And I'm in discussion with the Department of some, like,
regulations
in
Wisconsin and there
are too many.
Let me tell you, at least it's better than it used to be.
Let me tell you something, I tried doing things back in the day when I was at a different radio show and we would have brought fries downtown here and parks and stuff for our listeners and the city inspector on orders of the mayor shut us down.
Well, we can't meet you.
Yes, Chad.
It was
him.
And you know that
that's
illegal.
You can't share meals with another...
Well, we didn't know that, Chad.
And we
didn't know we had a Nazi as a mayor.
I can't serve rats either.
But I would caution you to... Just tell it.
I hope you have a better mayor up there than we had here.
As long as you're not selling them, I would caution you to stay away from them.
You gotta make a buck, Jim.
But if anybody, you know that more than us, you say, I say that.
All right, so this is this is great.
And you're going to start off and once the word gets out.
And I think you should also go to your local parishes there and tell the pastor that you're offering this program to get people to sign up.
I mean, I think there's people who want to do this.
And I think the recipients are definitely I think there'd
be people who.
You know, you talk about bringing it to somebody else, but I think there's people out there that would like to have that chance to interact with somebody else, too, in a good way, a very meaningful way.
And you get these individuals who have kids or that they're supposed to pass away.
Absolutely.
They're
lonely, too.
And they may have siblings or they may have kids.
in the air, in the town, but loneliness and isolation affects us all different ways and even though we can be in a crowded, crowded room, we can still feel alone.
Yeah, totally
agree.
I mean, I experienced this firsthand with my traumatic brain injury 21 years ago when I got hit by a truck.
I, deep depression and we're had to
six weeks in a coma and then I Spent 120 days in the hospital when I was 16 years old and I had a Downing Green Bay, so
Yeah, good.
Do you mind describing what happened?
Well, yes, I got hit by a truck while crossing the highway on a snowmobile up in Marinette.
Wow.
Yep, and that was stabilized phone down to
to, uh, to Green Bay, St.
Vincent Hospital, where I spent 120 days.
And out of the, at six weeks after the coma, I came out of the third grade re-level.
So I had to really hard to walk, talk, do the simplest things that we all had.
At 16 years old.
Yes.
Here you were, a high school
kid, going to be gone as...
University of Minnesota on a hockey scholarship Going to pharmacy school.
I mean I
world changed.
Yes, and just like that and Now I'm just trying to I graduated college in 2013 with the degrees with the BS in psychology and human development good
for you.
Yeah,
and I mean I Don't let my disability affect how I live my life
For example, you're showing it and drove down here.
Yeah.
That's great.
You started this program.
Yeah.
And for example, I, I bite, I rode my bicycle, my, my, my road bike.
3600 miles last year.
Wow.
Yeah, exactly what I did.
Look at this guy, John.
I did this guy's number.
Three miles less than that.
Yeah, I had 3500 and
something.
He believes you, John.
You don't know that.
I would have done 3600, but my seat was
so bad that I got a terrible
rash.
I'll
be honest with you.
Let me tell you, if you'd have bought a bike, so.
Just being honest, Chad.
That's great.
Nobody likes to brag or chat.
Oh, okay.
What did you play hockey for?
Well, then I'm thunder.
Nice.
So I mean, just life happens and what I want to like summarize this up as.
Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah, we're
gonna keep you around.
Yeah, we'll talk to you after.
We drove all the way down from Marinette.
We're not kicking you out of here.
Yeah,
it's nice to meet you.
You know, Todd
Watson, because he's a mean producer.
Yes, yes, I agree.
You saw that, too.
Quick break, back with more on Meals with a Friend with Chad Francoor.
Back right after this.
I say bite you, say shock.
I say him indoors was never my scene.
And I don't like Star Wars.
I say roll.
I say Royce.
Say God.
Give me a choice.
Say
Lord.
I say Christ.
I don't believe in Peter Pan, Frankenstein or Superman.
Well, let me tell you something Chad Frank or from Marinette, Wisconsin is rocking some people
now
I'll tell you what overcoming your horrible injury from a getting hit by a truck when you're on a snowmobile and You know, we talked about people who can do one of two things that can say what was me or they can say bleep it
But you
know what I'm gonna just say something that we're talking about you're a hockey player.
Okay.
I talked to so many
trainers physical trainers medical people and it's like hockey players They are there's such a man code or women code with hockey player the hockey women these days, but there's like if you're gonna play that sport you better be tough
Across the board true.
Yes.
Yes, and you're a great hockey player and you're overcoming getting hit by a truck and Everything you've been in a coma for how many days six six weeks six unbelievable and
here you are
Getting up at four o'clock this morning driving down for Marinette to get the word out about this program You're doing called meals with a friend.
So Chad you've got center stage.
Go ahead again, buddy
Okay, so if you want to like get connected with us check us out online
We're at MuseWithTheFriend.com or MuseWithTheFriend.org.
We transferred the .com to the .org, but we're still in the beginning process of making sure this stuff gets...
Well, if you need help with that, let me
know.
Because I'm
a genius when it comes to computer stuff.
A little over 200,000 people have downloaded the OnePass to get into the NFL Draft.
Johnny's been working on it for what, two weeks now?
So hopefully we can get that done today.
Not two weeks.
A week and a half.
Okay, a week and a half, sorry.
So they can go to this.
They can go to this mealswithafriend.org, mealswithafriend.com.
If they want to volunteer if they want to be a recipient or if they want to give money, it's all there Yes, okay contact information for you if they want to talk to you.
Yep, and okay.
I this is
important that we get
yeah, and I think if I Think the first step you can go do is contact me right I because the website is just so brand new and everything else.
I mean we have a Facebook page Okay, right and and
I mean we can kind of garnish a lot of support through the Facebook because I mean but
again how like if somebody says I want to do this yeah is there like a minimum of like well could you do it once at least once a week or once every two weeks or do you have any restriction or not restrictions but suggestions on that
well I mean we have a I like I want to develop a like a promotions
If someone volunteers five times, they get X, $20 to a gift certificate to somewhere, and then $10 promotions.
Could we, okay, let me just throw this out there for our listeners.
We got, we really have, they're very snarky and insulting at times, but our listeners are phenomenal when
it comes
to great causes.
Okay.
Um, and they're only snarky and insulting to me and him, but
in
general.
But what we're saying is they
got
big
hearts and would you, is there a way people could donate some cash to buy white, you know, quick trip or whomever gas cards or some things like
that?
Yes.
And the, and so if you like, we could.
appreciate like gas cards like cuz incentive for um I'm some of the club the volunteers like if they volunteer if they refer a friend yeah and then they should release three times they get they get a $10 gas yeah absolutely or we'd love to do that at $10
Starbucks card.
Okay, or stuff like that.
Okay.
Okay.
So I know you're still waiting to get some things up and running as
far
as social media and everything like that.
So we're going to hold off on directing people and you just let us know when you want us to start
pushing that.
But I think we can go to this mealswithafriend.org.
That website
up but it's not
built out.
No, it's not.
It's not on.
No.
It is off.
It needs to be developed
further.
You have a phone number you're willing to give out?
Yes.
It would be 715-923-7716.
So Schwab are going to
be one of your people?
Oh, yeah, we got
to get his lazy butt out of bed.
I totally
agree.
He's
a Hollywood star.
He made a lot of money out there.
He could call George Clooney.
He could call him right now.
You didn't know that I was here a month or two ago and I was on his show first and he
And he didn't offer me anything.
No, no, no, that's problem.
Yeah, he's
a
Hollywood.
Yeah, yeah.
I totally agree.
Yeah.
He travels in that circle.
So no, we totally agree.
Yeah.
Well, this is a great
thing you're
doing here, Chad.
And
just so impressed.
And again, you got that hockey player mentality of, OK, I've taken a few bumps and bruises and whatever, but I'm not backing down.
I'm still going into the corners, as
they would
say,
right?
And we've been doing this for.
couple years and it's people like you that make communities work.
You know, I mean, people sometimes don't know the politician or this business and that all helps.
But it really, it's people like you.
Thanks for doing this.
And I hope
this does franchise out.
I hope you do
this other places, but we got to just make it really, really work up in Marinette where you are.
And the final thing, the way to end isolation and loneliness is to connect.
That is the premise of the whole.
Open up.
I mean, we don't live in a glass bubble and we need to connect with people.
I think that's awesome.
Did you experience that Chad?
Yes,
okay
So this comes from the heart and Jim and I talked about some Todd We talked about this all the time the people we appreciate so much on this show are people that are doing something for others
but because it started with them.
And that's where you know the passions from versus somebody who's just hired to promote something.
When it's from their heart, their own experiences, those are the real, those are the ones we take real serious.
So for a situation like yours, man, we're going to back you as much as we possibly can.
You're all in.
Yep.
Thank you very much.
This is good.
This is good to watch you.
Absolutely.
We'll get this promoted.
You
guys stay in touch.
All right.
715-923-7716.
Chad, and you can
get them connected, either donations, if they want to get, if they want to be a recipient, if they want to be a donor to this thing.
Or volunteer, yeah,
absolutely.
All
right, cool.
Jim's a great cook.
I think he could cook something
here, drive it up to Marinette, still be hot.
If he wants to, maybe.
I mean, more than Mary, you're
okay.
Chad Crankort, you're doing great things, my friend.
Thank you.
Thank you, buddy.
Quick break, back up for us.
For WGBW and WISS News, I'm Lisa Hale.
After a year of preparation, planning, and waiting, one of the largest events to hit the Greater Green Bay Area will kick off tomorrow near Lambeau and Titletown when the NFL Draft opens.
Three days of activities are planned for the draft and the draft experience, and in the downtown area, Touchdown Downtown features the Draft City Music Fest, which is tonight
and Saturday night.
The bars and pubs in the Shipyard District along South Broadway and State Street will feature free concerts all throughout the draft.
See our story at WGBW.fm.
For links and information on the events planned throughout the draft and the weekend.
Due to road closures and the festivities themselves, getting to the NFL draft stage in Green Bay may be a little difficult this week.
So Green Bay Metro Transit Director Patty Keywitz says take the downtown to Titletown bus.
You can park anywhere along that route and get on.
We do have some designated stops.
However, our drivers are awesome.
They will watch for people if it looks like they
want to get on the buses.
The free shuttle buses will run continuously in a loop between downtown Green Bay and the area near the draft from noon until 11 p.m.
Thursday and Friday and from noon until nine on Saturday.
The big event starts tomorrow and the Green Bay Packers are stoking the excitement for the NFL draft coming to Lambo and Titletown with a Packers virtual draft party tonight at seven.
Fans from all over can visit Packers.com or the Packers official social media accounts to attend the free event featuring Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy, Packers players, and more.
See our story at wgbw.fm for links and information.
I'm Lisa Hale for WGBW and WISS News.

And don't forget, coming up this morning around 8.50 we'll announce the top craft pick winner with the Mino and the Mayor's top craft pick promotion.
So one of those great crafters, all 10 of them, you were voting for them over the last several weeks.
We'll find out who won this morning at around 8.50.
Plus we'll announce the winner of the $250 and gift cards for the participating sponsors.
That's coming up this morning around 8.50 with John Mino and Jim Schmidt.
Once again, it's Mino and the Mayor.
Hey, welcome back one of the mayor here special thanks to a very inspirational gentleman Chad Frank or meals with a friend starting it in Marinette We want to back them as much as humanly possible
amazing kid.
Yes.
Oh, it's standing
What a tragedy.
You guys have a chance to meet him.
Yeah, just on the way out.
But so meals with a friend up in Marinette
16 year old scholarship to Minnesota put the play hockey he's going to
The sun got in his eyes.
He's
crossing the highway.
He got hit by a truck.
Oh,
my gosh.
Was it a coma?
16 years old.
Yeah.
Was it a coma?
Superstar hockey player.
Yeah.
The
hospital for four months.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
There's a Berkshire Hathaway branch up in Marinette.
So we'll have to tell them.
That's their very giving branch.
That would be fantastic.
Once they're just
getting it started,
we really
want to get them.
Gas cards or something, huh, Todd?
Yeah, anything we can do, we'll do it.
Great kid.
Yeah, so those are kind of people we love to support.
I know what you
guys do too.
Oh yeah, you love hearing those stories.
I mean, you don't like it how they get there, but it's such an inspiration in what they do.
Like
again, there's two types of people.
You could sit back and say, what was me?
Or you can say, okay, this happened.
Why am I gonna take this and turn it into something else?
He's
one of those guys.
Yeah, which is amazing.
A whole different course in his life that he thought he was gonna take.
But yeah, look at what he's doing with it.
Yeah, and I've been in Malacor, moving with the Malacors, and you're moving into your great new digs.
I'm sorry, I
couldn't come to your- Yeah, yeah, we missed you.
Shin Dig, Jim was there.
And I tried past your place, even walk past
it on my
train.
Beautiful, I
love that building.
It's real, it's really nice.
We had a great, we had a great turnout.
I think we had well over 70 people there.
Wow.
And it, you know, it's our nice little office space.
Everybody made it up the stairs.
Yeah, I did.
Ben, that's it, when you're...
retire out of that business, I'd convert that into, that's a pretty good living up there too.
That's what
we
said when
we look at it.
I could live here, put it in the kitchen, you're good to go.
Oh my God,
that, yeah.
I know, it's amazing space.
It's a great
view, it's quiet,
it's happening.
Do you know the history of the building at all?
You know, other than, you know, Trepman hardware, it used to be at the corner,
which I believe is still the only business in downtown Shirley.
Yes, yes, uh, not
too close to the highway.
Yeah A zero lot line The street from it that used to be a bar that's got to be a hundred and fifty years old that that bar to
get off again I think people let that out for like a week or something.
Yeah, that's a beer you order out of the bottle Yeah, I try to be quick, but go nail cart like that's
the way I go
But all of a sudden, there'll be people standing on that porch.
Anyway,
that's
a
cool little part of town.
But your
building is awesome.
It's an awesome building.
I mean, there was Racine office supply, which was in that building, too, which I used to go into all the time as a kid.
And then, of course, Johnson Fish Company was at the corner.
And my mom used to drag us little buggers in there.
you know, grab something for dinner.
Oh,
yeah.
Did you live downtown?
No, I mean, just general.
No,
no, no, you know, our family business was downtown.
So I spent a lot of time down.
I used to, you know, work for my dad as even
I probably shouldn't say this, through grade school.
You know, I used to work, I'd paint
windows.
I think it's okay when it's family.
He went to his family washing
wax
cars and
things
like that.
They
just didn't call us indentured servants to our face.
Yes, yes, exactly.
I don't think you needed to work from here.
You did,
yeah.
I worked for my brother at his gas station for baseball cards.
It's a
true story.
That's the honest
and God truth.
I can get free packs of baseball cards
for working.
Wow, wow.
And did you make any money at him?
Yeah, anything.
The baseball cards?
Yeah.
Oh, I sold most of them.
Did
you?
On the road.
Yeah.
Nice little cash check.
Right.
So this real estate market...
Although, although, although, I gotta say one thing.
Jim knows his story.
Jim knows his story.
For the football cards, I have paid football cards where the Packers are get beat by somebody if I had some of their players in the cards I tack them to a tree in our backyards, and I shoot their eyes out with my baby
If there's any psychiatrists
out
there
It's a sniper level.
Exactly what the Christmas movie was about.
Sorry.
Yeah, Ben Indiana Mallard car, moving with the mallard cars.
You got new digs and a beautiful old wonderfully restored building.
Yeah, what is going on in the world of real estate?
Because this is obviously a hot month, you know.
Yeah, to get it going.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's it's it's prime time Deanna Deanna had actually looked
up
some statistics before we came here what between?
200,000 and 400,000 the inventory and is
it in Brown County and
Brown County
is 36 active homes
normal,
you know
You know what, it's low.
Our inventory is low.
When you hit April, that really kicks in that spring market, but we had a lady stir and we have the draft.
So I think our buyers are gonna see a lot of homes hit the market that they can start going through after this draft.
Okay, not to belabor the same old things we talked about, but I think it's at the point now where interest rates are, they are what they are.
No
more sitting around, oh, once that happens, I mean, let's just accept they are where they are.
And if you want to buy a house or sell your house, that's what you're dealing with.
Yeah,
I think so too.
If they end up going down, I know there's a push for them wanting to be lowered, but if that happens, that's a gift at that point.
But yeah, consider where they are, where they are.
It is,
not to talk politics, but we
You may have a new fed chair.
That ain't gonna
happen.
That
ain't
gonna happen.
That ain't gonna
happen.
I think you always look at Jim.
I hate to
talk about this.
And the other
thing is that the fact that the market's down 14%, like Buffett said, just come on.
Hang in there, it's a long game.
I mean,
that's a long game.
I'm with John.
You just come on.
If it's a time to do it, if the family needs a bigger home.
You're right.
Let's find something that works.
You can always be finance.
I like the neighborhood.
I like the school.
I like the municipality.
I'm going.
And that's just it.
When you're looking for a place, location is one of the only things you cannot change about the house.
find something in the location that you want.
Even if it is not your ideal house, you can make changes while you're there.
So, you know, most people buy a house to live in it long term.
They're gonna be there at least seven years, if not a little bit longer.
But
it does happen where, somebody I'm gonna show you yesterday that...
for the show that's on Sunday.
She just, the kids, she goes, it's too small now.
We love the
house.
Oh, sure.
She goes, we really don't want to move.
But you know, I said, that's why we moved.
We didn't
want to move, but she's just looking for something with,
it's
amazing what another bedroom can do though when you have kids, right?
Oh my God.
Or like a finished basement.
Right.
It's funny, she
mentioned those two things.
Yeah, it is.
You know, you will always find whether you are younger and a growing family or just, you know,
Whether you have roommates, however, your life is always going to change.
You might need something bigger.
You might need something smaller.
Yeah.
And, you know, I knew her.
We worked together, but, you know, two little kids, but they get bigger.
Yeah, they do.
We just got to do something
soon.
And then they also want their own space.
I mean, it's really interesting.
And then, you know, downsizing on the other end of it, you know, we were just talking about this, you know.
when you've lived in your house for a while at this point, because we had such a drastic change in price over the past, you know, five years or so, you know, you are going to downsize in the size of your home, not in your mortgage payment.
You know, and I think that's really hard for people to consider.
Smaller isn't necessarily cheaper.
Correct.
It's easier.
You know, there's, there's less stress.
There's yet less yard work.
You look for something that makes your life easier, even though the payment may be a little bit higher, because on the flip side, you're now going to have something.
higher value to sell.
Isn't it kind of ironic though?
I mean, years and years ago when I was looking for my first house and it's like the ranch houses were like, well, those are starter homes.
The
rich people have, you know, two, three, blah, blah, blah.
And it's now that that's completely flipped.
Everybody
wants the ranches,
right?
Everybody
wants the ranch.
Everyone can live in them.
You know, they're usable for...
Everyone, whether you are, you know, have young kids, whether you're seniors and everything in between, everyone can live in a ranch
home.
But you know what, when you're talking to buyers and sellers, it's hard for them to grasp when you compare the square footage to a two-story, to a ranch, and then the ranch is more expensive.
It's more expensive because of the accessibility,
you know?
It comes
at a premium.
You've got everything you need on one floor.
Yeah.
That hoity-toity aspect kind of has gone out a little bit with home buyers, hasn't it, though?
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Where there used to be such a,
you
know, who's has the bigger, whatever, whatever.
Yeah.
32, 35 bits.
It's like, what's usable?
What's
usable.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Great point.
Yeah.
Well, and I think there is this, you see this kind of, you know,
cross everything but you know our first-time homebuyers are getting older and they are now at an age where they know what they need in life they know what they want in life and
what they don't need
and what they don't need and so and they're buying homes kind of that fit those needs versus just it's the biggest one on the street
what do you guys find is like the room
most unused that everybody thought was gonna be so great to have.
Dining
room.
100% that formal dining room.
You know, I honestly, that kitchen island has taken that away.
Now that islands are so big, that's where everyone sits.
Well, they become different too.
I interviewed one of my, for my book, A Vietnam Veteran.
Nice how he had built it in Swamako, you know, very nice, whatever.
And we said at the island, I said, this is like the size of the old, what do they call them, the farm tables?
Or we
could have like
10, 12 people.
That's the way they're building islands now.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
Huge.
Yeah.
Sometimes the whole length of the kitchen.
Yeah.
We've seen some huge islands.
Yeah.
But you know, who, who even eats at their table anymore?
If you have an island, if
you have
one of the islands, you know, I mean, do they even build houses with dining rooms anymore?
Well, they will custom build, but you know, most of the spec homes are kind of a dining area where you have room to put a table if you want it.
Oh, look, like you're, you got a diet.
Well, I love a full dining room, but we're, yours is for entertaining.
That's what we do.
Sure.
Yeah,
right.
Do you sit in there?
That's kind of funny when we sit on the opposite.
Like a movie.
You have to
get up.
They got the
candelabra.
And it is kind of far away when it's set for eight.
They
train their dogs to train themselves back and forth.
We like that.
But I would say, if we had what the kids, we didn't use it at all.
I would have used
it when the kids
were about us.
When we built our house, which we sold last year, we put a dining room in it.
And we did.
I loved using it, but we didn't use it very often because we also had the kitchen island.
So unless it was Christmas or a company or whatever, we sat in the kitchen and had our dinners, even as a family.
What
are people converting those to?
Office spaces,
primarily.
You know, another sitting room.
You know, we had some friends just a few doors down from us.
They kind of converted it into a TV room.
Yeah, well, they kind of, yeah, they made it into, well, they had their TV in the other room, but, and actually a couple.
Yeah,
Steven Janell,
yeah.
You know kind of I'm not gonna say older because they're about our age, but When you don't have when you don't have your kids at home anymore, and you don't need that dining room table They had an island they ended up just putting because everybody congregates in the kitchen when you have people over yeah, so they made it into a little sitting room That's awesome, which was perfect.
So she's like it's when we have parties everyone sits in here anyway Now they have a comfortable seat
all right when we come back and I talk about when we talk about this before if somebody's looking specifically what
What's hot out there right now?
If you're thinking about selling and listing with you guys, what types of houses were you just?
Sounds
good.
Cool.
All right, Ben and Deanna Malkor.
Moving on to Malkor is mine or the mayor back after
this.

WG-
Wednesday morning draft preview draft anticipation.
Got a nice text here.
Good morning, guys.
Tommy out.
Tell everybody who Tommy is, Todd.
Good friend of the
show from old 31 spirits, right?
Yeah.
All station 31.
Yeah.
And she's one of the top craft pick folks.
We're going to announce.
We will announce those at 850 this morning.
Somebody's going to walk away the winner of the minnow and the mayor's top craft pick.
It could be old station 31 spirits.
And what does somebody
going to win?
Well, one of the folks who voted, right, has a chance to win $250 in gift cards from the participating sponsors.
So we'll announce the winner of the Top Craft Pick, and we'll announce the winner of the gift cards.
Outstanding.
Nice.
We think it should be a 10-way tie.
They're all great.
So what is
Old Spirits, if you don't mind?
Old Station 31, it's a distillery in Dale, so just out of Appleton.
It's really
kind of a, they manufacture there.
It's right out the back.
Door was something but but the cool part
is it's
a station her
right has all been firefighters.
Oh, like all
generations back for like a hundred years very cool They live in that little town and the fire station closed down
And it's like, we're buying it.
We don't even know what we're eating.
We just want the fire.
So their distillery is in the fire station.
That's 100-some years
old.
And our
entire family are firefighters.
That is awesome.
It's like weird things in the universe somehow.
Yeah.
You know, Bob and Veronica together.
I love that story.
Really great, great people, big sponsors of ours.
We can't say enough good things about them.
All the distilleries, so all the brewers we brought.
Absolutely.
Wonderful people.
And you know what they all had in common?
They get along.
That's the alcohol, that's the
alcohol.
That is shocking.
It's not like health fair.
Where they come together for doing things, every one of them wants to be really community involved.
It's
not
just coming here and buying our beer, it's what can we do for the community that we're in.
And they'll support each other.
If somebody's out of something, I mean, whatever it is, it's very nice.
It's a cool industry right now.
It's relatively new with some of the hard liquors, right?
I mean, the
law just passed 10, 12 years ago.
They encourage people to try other places.
It's a really cool industry right now.
I hope it doesn't get bought off the mom and
pops.
These are all
mom and pops right
now.
They're really cool stories.
There's a science teacher that got into this thing.
There's other people like Johnny just said, it's generational that got into it.
They all got the stories.
To go visit these little wineries or distilleries or breweries, they have entertainment too,
which is kind of cool.
I
don't
know, it's just
different.
Try to hit them all this summer, um, several times before noon.
On a
bike.
On a bike.
Anyway.
That Indiana Malachor, moving with the Malachors.
Okay.
The question I was going to ask her before we went to break again, if somebody's out there thinking about selling their house, thinking of listing, and they want to come to you guys and they say, yada, yada, yada.
What makes you guys like, Oh, yes.
What type of house, what type of complex, what type of whatever, whatever.
What's the hot thing that you buyers are looking for?
I would say honestly a one story up to 450,000.
Those are gonna fly off
the shelves.
But honestly, we work with everybody.
So no matter what you have, we try to put your home's best foot forward.
So there isn't anybody that we wouldn't help through the process.
But yeah, those homes that are like Ben just said in that category, it's...
They're gone.
I'm going to be
honest with you.
I'm old.
I'm old school about my first house here in Green Bay at $64,000.
I think in Allaway, you know,
would have
a nice house, whatever.
And but.
When you say 450, I still have to take a little
bit of a cringe.
I know.
It's crazy.
I know our first home was 75,000, so we totally get it.
Yes.
And
it was a ranch.
We should have never got rid of it.
Yeah, we
should have just held on.
How many of us have said that?
Oh, I
know.
You drive by your house and you say it doesn't really look that much different.
Yeah.
And it's
worth four times what
you paid for it.
I know, at least.
It's crazy.
Because I was in the 60s as well.
I just can't believe that house
I know I know
it's the same color It looks great, but it's like yeah, they got it like put a big addition on Yeah, yeah,
we got an assessment one time or assessment I always get mixed up between assessments and appraisals, but anyway sure it came back at 82,000 okay, and I'm her saying if anybody in the world was give me 82,000
We
went to the reassessment in 2003 or 2004 right in
the
city of Green Bay and a lot of houses went they went from 88, 89, 92, 102, 103 and people
older people couldn't 100,000 was like this thing.
And I'm like, look, and I'm being interviewed about that.
They're like, how can you justify that?
Because, as I said, the house was the same.
It was the same brick.
It was the same siding.
And I'm like, look, we value houses at what they will sell for.
That's our new assessment policy here.
Well, then we had the fourth of July parade.
I'm walking across the bridge.
What about my house?
But now those houses are probably worth 250,000.
Oh,
yeah.
Crazy.
Crazy.
You know, from COVID on, that just kind of changed the market around to everywhere.
You guys got one
minute?
Yeah, talk about our open house.
We've got an open house this weekend in the condos that are being developed on South Broadway.
The open house, though, is at the showroom, which is on Ridge Road.
It's on the corner of Ridge and Circle Drive, and it's Sunday from 10 to 12.
And these are kind of a 55-plus community, and, you know, all ranging about 1.1 million.
Yeah, we've got all the touches in there.
Give us
location again in the times.
They're Sunday from 10 to 12.
OK.
point center condos and the open house is at their showroom on the corner of Ridge and Circle Drive.
Okay, leave us that information.
We're going to talk about that for the rest
of the week.
Wonderful.
Thank
you.
Wonderful
having you
guys
here.
Always fun.
Thanks for having us.
They're
going
to
get a
mallocore, move to the mallocores.
Folks, you're looking to list or buy.
Please contact them.
Back after this.

You did summer.

Joining us right now Janelle Fisher City Pages manager Tori Wittenbrock sports editor in Mary Rode on Broadway Joining us special thanks to bed and Deanna Malcore move with the Malcore's and chant Francoor meals with a friend
Great having them all on.
So first of all, Mary, like I said, on behalf of Jim and I, no.
We'll talk about it later.
No, no.
Jim, is there any discussion about this?
No, none.
Zero.
I mean, this one of those things are, you know, you have a meeting.
Hey, guys,
Mary talked to me about this like six months ago, and we actually had Speedos made for you guys
that
say Mino and the Mayor.
Mino
on one side.
I was
going to say, and they have each other's faces on them.
So cute.
Mary Rowdy from OnBroadway wants us to do a dunk tank, and we have both had humiliating experiences in dunk tanks.
Right, Jim?
Yep.
I think it happened.
Those are in my past.
But
we're going to volunteer Todd.
There
you go.
Thanks.
I'll wear the speedo.
And the
intern.
IIT over here.
Absolutely.
That falls under
all other duties as assigned.
Absolutely.
What
is it?
Fire over the fox.
Oh, yeah, that's I tell you the worst when I did it with you guys was The Winterfest
oh jeez
that was cold like really cold and
then
I got on the fifth of May it's a big celebration Cinco de mino, okay, and so they put me in a dunk tank to sink me back in my IXX days You probably didn't listen back then.
I mean, I'm I did
okay.
No, don't remember not to you.
Okay.
Well, thanks a lot.
Okay great been having you Mary So what's going on?
Oh, so many things.
Talk to us.
And
Tori, I
mean, I'm just going to sit back.
You guys tell me everything in your world of journalism right now with everything coming to Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Take it away.
Yeah, I don't know if you saw last week's big guide.
You'd notice we'd add a whole.
Jim brought that
in.
That was fantastic.
That's why I
asked you during the break.
Who put that together now?
Well, you're thinking of Packerland.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I try, if you read the big guide last week, we had to add a whole separate category for draft events because there were just too many to split into the other category.
There's 16 things today.
Just today.
It's not
even officially opened yet.
I
mean,
tomorrow's, but yeah, there's just a lot of stuff going on.
And I think that's great.
People ask, we're trying to do our best to get the word out there, but you know, even something small, the tours tomorrow at the Northland, and then there's things going on today at.
The stadium that starts at 10 o'clock like right after this show things are going on and tonight That's a huge festival at at on Broadway and I'm in at light Park and kids zone and I just hope people are getting connected with that and You guys are doing a great job of that and we're trying to help out as well.
So
it's your gut feelings
I mean, we don't have any precedent.
You know what I mean?
It's such a walk in space.
But what do you think, attendance-wise, we're surprised we talked about this, that there's still hotel rooms and some Airbnb types that haven't been filled yet.
You guys surprised by that?
Did you see that Airbnb thing?
There's still people scrambling now.
It's like, oh my God, I told...
Would you see that one?
I was going for $12,000 a night or something, or $50,000.
I
think some
of the hotels have reduced their nightly minimums now.
They run
from four to two,
which I
think is helping
some
of that.
And perhaps, too, some people, even, there'll be a larger drive market than expected.
That's what
I
think.
And people, instead of spending four or five grand to stay here two or three nights, they're gonna drive the four or five or six hours, you know?
So, who knows.
That's what I'm feeling, too.
Well, you were gonna say something, though.
You must have a gut feel.
I mean, you're right.
Like you said, we have a Tory.
Yeah, I mean, I'm so stoked for this because I grew up loving college football and I didn't get into the NFL really until I came here and it was my job to cover the Packers.
And now obviously it's like my two worlds are colliding.
So that's cool.
Yeah, it's really cool.
I was watching the draft last year and I was, you know, sitting there fangirling and I watched the Heisman ceremony and I was all excited when, you know, bone X got picked and everything.
So now I'm just excited to see kind of how it plays out here with.
Why are we excited about bone X?
He's gorgeous, and his wife is gorgeous.
But I mean, Oregon?
I didn't know what the.
Oh,
yeah.
But you're a Southern Cal girl.
Yeah.
I thought you were USC or UCLA.
No, I grew up a hard UCLA fan.
But I mean, I've branched out.
I just love college football as a whole.
I actually grew up as a hard UCLA fan.
So when I was little, Lane Kiffin was the coach at SC.
So I thought I was always supposed to hate him.
And then I got older, and now I was like, actually, I think he's hilarious.
I love Ole Miss.
You know, he used to live in Green Bay.
Oh, really?
I think he might have been born here.
His dad was a coach for the Packers.
He's a linebacker coach.
I
never knew
that.
We drafted one of your quarterbacks from UCLA.
It turned out to be a flop.
Yeah.
Huntley.
Yeah.
Sorry about that.
Well, that's cool.
I love that you're a big college football fan.
Yeah.
So I mean, there's nothing more exciting for me than the draft coming
here.
OK, next week when you come on.
Todd, can we do a contest with her next week?
Probably.
My quarterback challenge.
We could try some fun stuff sure
you name me any quarterback from 1957 to today, and I could tell you what college you went to Okay,
okay.
All right,
and what we'll do is we'll have you play for people and we'll give them a prize package Whenever you beat me
sounds good
deal
deal all
right
cool
So what are you going on Broadway on the south end today?
You have restaurants, right today?
So that's not within the Broadway district.
That's going to be that's over in the shipyard district.
So I saw some of the the great process.
They've
just seen pretty much gets everything wrong.
You're gonna have to correct him.
He's really close.
It
is
absolutely on the line between the two districts and you're right.
It is on South Broadway.
So yes, there's an event with some food trucks and live music.
I think I
just want to say one thing.
We had Packer players.
Who do we talk to the other?
day about what Green Bay used to be like, even when I came here, Broadway was, was like skid roll in a certain way from, you know,
the
early 80s, mid 80s.
So that entire extent, what you guys are doing with on Broadway and the shipyard over to take that street and what you guys are turning into entertainment wise is fantastic.
Yeah.
can't wait to see what the next couple phases of the shipyard project.
And I know there's some programming that the Parks and Rec Department is planning for the shipyard this summer.
We'll announce that here in the coming months that are summer in the city press conference, but just so excited to see that transformation.
Because I was part of the group trying to get the baseball stadium built over
there.
Oh, that would have been something.
I'm telling you, that is such an under, I mean, that is underrated, that area, how great it can be, the potential there.
Yep.
So, all right.
So what else is going on, Janelle?
Well, I you want to go see a live band take your pick you could not see all of them this week if you tried I know shipyard districts got Music pretty much every day this week at the tracks has got music every day this week.
You've got the Draft City music Fest Pretty much any bar has got an impressive lineup for this week.
So
do you know how the Brad Paisley thing is going to work?
Can you just, I mean, okay, so it costs a lot of money to be in the bowl section of the draft, correct?
Is that gonna be the Brad Paisley thing?
Does anybody know?
I have no idea.
As far as I know, the Brad Paisley thing is free to attend while you need the one pass app.
Right,
which is hard to do.
So we're gonna skip over that.
Quiet,
Mary.
But as far as I know, that's free to attend.
Okay.
But to your point, I don't know.
I don't know if it's going to be on the draft theater stage or
I
did see them setting up a rather large side stage in front of the what is that the American family gate?
That's where they usually have those concerts.
So that's I think that's where it's going to be.
So cool.
All right.
Awesome.
But yeah, that's that whole area.
Then we had Maddie on here from Stadium View, you know, and they've got what 16 bands, three stages.
Badger State is heavy on entertainment.
There's just a lot of I mean, you
That's going to be so much fun.
Like you said, there's no lack of entertainment.
And a lot of people have tried.
Appleton is really reaching out with their mile of music.
It's not what we're used to, but it's just kind of a mini mile of music.
There's a lot of things going on.
And people really worked hard.
I just hope they realize the profit that people come and support that.
There's just a lot of things to do.
The attendance of a packer game people are gonna lose money because we need 200 230 40,000 people here because we built out for that So I just hope that all happens and I think it will I hope it will
well I got a purse.
I'm not gonna say who who's gonna be one of the nut is like $11,000 they've got into it to you know just the beginning they they will $11,000
street vendor.
Yeah, so I mean you got a really this He's banking.
I just don't know he
took he took the packer game times for
yeah
Pretty estimated, but I don't know if we're gonna get that big of a out-of-state in flux here.
I just don't do you guys?
Well, I mean being out from someone from who's out of state
I
think there's a huge draw just with it being the Packers.
Okay,
so I mean people from LA would come here.
It's
Lambo, right?
It's Lambo.
Yeah, mine has its own draw.
Yeah, my boyfriend in high school his older brother had Packers tattoos and stuff like that and he it was his dream to come here So I mean I knew a lot of people out in California that were like
you know, worshiped at the feet of the Packers.
So I think there will be a significant draw from out of state.
I mean, I can't speak to if it's going to be as big as anticipated.
I think people's eyes kind of got really big
when they
started hearing about how many people are going to be here
and the
numbers and the opportunities for their businesses and stuff.
But so I think their eyes might have gotten a little too big, but I don't know.
I think it'll still be quite a
good job.
Just a small thing that we kind of judge things on here is like during the exhibition season on Fridays, how many like different jerseys walk
Up and down, you know the road here.
We haven't seen that yet.
So maybe it is a more of a late-arriving type crowd that you know what I'm
saying Yeah, well, I think you also got to think it's it's mid-week So people are planning on coming up that you're probably not gonna see him today because they're still at work today.
Oh, wow.
Well, thank you for putting me in my place
And they came to see the statues you guys you guys met they'd
We missed the statues downtown.
Yeah the Packer statues
We miss those.
We're not happy about that.
We don't even know where they are.
If we can find out where they are,
I'd get some guys to break in and steal them.
We want them
in our office right
here.
One of them right here.
I
just, I hope people come down here.
Cause there's the businesses downtown here and on Broadway and really all over the place have got their welcome signs out.
So I just, again, you know, we can move on to something else, but I think people are ready.
The Green Bay community, Allaway, Appleton, they're, yeah, we're ready.
Hey, tell us a little bit about the Lake Park though, their concerts.
I mean, that's pretty.
Impressive life.
Yeah, it's gonna be awesome.
Yeah gates open at three first band chocolatiers go on stage at four Amazing fireworks presented by festival at 830 and day last soul takes a stage after
that was the whole thing I've had so many people say are you kidding?
I will be I mean fans are like passionate,
huh?
Yeah, they haven't toured in years
Wow, talk about the kids zone, too.
I think that's
who's waking back
right after
Before he did
by United Way of Wisconsin and Serve Wisconsin, paid for by...
Fisher City Pages Manager of the Press Times, Tori Wittenbrock, Sports Editor of the Press Times, and Mary Rode on Broadway Incorporated.
Talk about the draft music and everything.
We're talking about that during the break.
Just going to toss it out.
I'll give each one of your opinions.
Starting with you, Tori Brad Paisley.
I mean, I'm stoked.
I grew up a 90s country fan in early 2000s country.
So I mean, I grew up listening to Brad Paisley.
I love him.
I'm stoked about that.
Janelle?
I
think it's going to be fun.
I think a lot of people online figured it was going to be somebody country, given where we are.
But
you know what?
The country performers, they haven't been shy about how much they love the Packers and coming
here
and even seeing the national anthem, some of those people that this is a.
As you were mentioning, people in Los Angeles are looking at Green Bay as kind of a mecca.
Yeah.
Country stars seem to look at Green Bay that way, don't
they?
They do.
I mean, it's always been a rumor that Tim McGraw has a house in Dork County.
Yeah.
And, you know, those kind of things.
Northeast Wisconsin has just been such a, in the spotlight or destination, I should say, for country acts.
They've always done well here.
I think about freedom, that little church picnic thing.
And freedom, they get Brooks and Dunn and like these massive country stars.
And so as a country loving girl.
I am very excited.
OK, you say your country loving when I was at a different radio station.
It used to be on us for free tickets to like pretty much every concert, Mary, and they were in all country.
Who'd you give those to?
I can call Murph.
I can call Katie.
Points
in my life.
What do
you want
me to call?
I just
adapted to my surroundings.
OK, fine.
Another thing though about this weekend coming in here.
I mean Green Bay in Northeast Wisconsin We're all trying to be you know for best foot forward type thing, but I'm just really impressed with the How do I put it I mean like the Broadway Association the different we're talking about the different distilleries Everybody is like invested in this everybody wants us to look good The world is watching and they they want us to look good.
You guys feel that
oh, yeah, I think personally Green Bay is like
Wisconsin's best kept secret.
I mean, I think that we're really overlooked.
Our state as a whole is really overlooked.
I think outside of the Packers and cheese, no one really thinks much of Wisconsin.
And I mean, when I was in Southern California, we had a neighbor that moved here.
She moved from Wisconsin and she had her kids go into elementary school and the teacher.
that they had I, one of my sisters had when she was in elementary school and she actually asked them like, do you guys have access to the worldwide web in Wisconsin?
And it was like, I mean, I think that just as a whole, the state is usually overlooked.
And I think people are going to be really surprised when they get here and see how beautiful it is.
That's awesome to hear that.
Yeah,
that really
is.
I mean, I stayed here.
Yeah, that's true.
But what do you think are the, what are you guys on the other flip side now?
What are you concerned about?
Because now that you know the area and whatever, what are you guys concerned about?
I'll go ahead.
Parking without a doubt parking.
I feel like every time I come to an event, like I'm worried about parking and I look around and think like I've been to Detroit.
I've driven through Detroit and just the sheer amount of parking lots they have there.
But I'm sure it'll also work out.
I know there's there's buses running from everywhere.
I know you can park downtown and
take a shuttle to title
town.
So I think I think it'll work out, but.
Parking
very legitimate concern.
Yeah, I just think they've addressed that though But maybe the word didn't get out, but I think that 15-minute shuttle.
That's that's pretty cool.
Yeah,
and it's free
Yeah, I think I think there's some good solutions right
but I don't think the communications been Perfect on this and I don't know why but because I think there's a lot of people working and I know but
People who ask stuff, and then you make one phone call.
It's like, well, that's figured out, or this is figured out, or this is what it is.
But one resource has been a little bit difficult.
You guys did a good job in your paper, I think, laying out the events.
But some people that have some concerns, they don't need to be concerned.
Because, I mean, there's a guy with one of our sponsors, Kevin Berkel, is 1,400.
parking spots were like, how's it going?
I haven't rented too many so far.
You know, I mean,
that was, that was what three days ago he was on here, right?
I, again, God bless people in Schwab and on right around the stadium that if I was, you know, rented off their driveways in their yards and everything like that.
As somebody from out of town, I don't think I would risk driving around that area trying
to find
a yard to park in.
Would you guys?
No, and I think that's part of it.
I think people from around here know, well, you can park in pretty much anybody's yard for the right price and there's buses running, but I think a lot of people coming in from downtown.
or coming in from out of town aren't necessarily going to know because at what other stadium are you surrounded by houses whose yards you can park in?
That was great.
I was driving through there last week and people out there were there.
tape measures, you know, just to
see how
many they
can
squeeze in.
I thought that was cool.
The other thing I thought was really funny was there was a lady that they interviewed and, well, they said, what are you going to charge for parking?
Well, we got together, the neighbors, and we set a price, which is totally against the law.
That's like collusion, you know?
I'm like, I should probably should have said that.
But anyway, I think it's going to be fine.
You're right.
I think to the unknown, people who come to games are going to be like, I'm just going to drive down Thorndale or something like that.
I'm going to find a spot.
Other people go like, well, that's a neighbor.
Or where they've parked before.
Right.
Sure.
Can't park in the neighborhood.
So they're going to look for these surface parking lots of 5,000 spots.
And we just don't have those.
Yeah.
Do you guys coming into the, what do you think the, um, as far as what the pack, I mean, it's an NFL event.
It's not a pet.
You know, that's the thing we've, we've learned.
It's an NFL event.
Do you think that's a positive or in some ways comes with some chinks in the armor?
Well, this is the.
Forgive me if I'm talking out of turn here, but I believe this is the first draft where the team is so intimately involved.
We talked to the folks in downtown Detroit who were really the only entity involved directly with the NFL.
The Lions were not.
In
some of the other cities, the teams really said, here's the keys to our stadium.
See you later.
So having the Packers so involved with this, I think has been a pro.
the NFL's learning that maybe this is a good thing, and they'll take some of this onto, is it Pittsburgh?
Who's next?
Yeah.
Pittsburgh, yeah.
So, who knows?
I will say this, I've talked to some people who, behind closed doors, say, okay, we know how to do events in Green Bay, Wisconsin, NFL.
Let us do this.
There's a little bit of that under current, wouldn't you agree?
Yeah.
For sure, there's some...
There's been a lot of conversations behind closed doors of suggestions of, well, what if we did it this way?
And what if we, so there's, there's been some compromising.
I think that has happened.
And I think again, this is just a, a learning curve
for
the Green Bay coming to, or for the NFL, coming to the smallest NFL city.
What would you, if you were mayor, right now, today, you were mayor, what would you do?
Would you do anything special?
I would just make sure that
everything is somewhere, all the information, everything from, from parking to.
The Northland Hotels tours to this thing that's had Heritage Hill.
Everything is on there.
It's like, well, I don't really care.
Just, well, then scroll past it.
You'll find something else.
But there's so much going on.
I have Appleton stuff on the website.
I have what Oshkosh is doing.
I had everything on there to shuttle buses from Fox River Mall to the stadium, you know, every hour they're doing that.
There's just so much.
And we're almost like overwhelmed with this because the Packer game is like 70,000 people.
We've done that for years and years.
Um, but it's out there.
We just got to work a little harder to find it.
Janelle
Fisher, city pages manager, Tori Wittenbrock, sports editor, press times.
You guys do a fantastic job.
I say this every time you're here.
I love your paper.
Mary Rode on Broadway.
Give me a free shirt.
Can you do that?
Yeah, I'll get you Jeff City Music Fest shirt.
Do I have to do the dunk tank for
it?
Maybe.
Back after
this.
All right.
Once again, coming up this morning at 850, we'll announce the top craft pick winner with the minow and the mayor's top craft pick promotion.
Who's going to walk away with that?
One of the 10 top crafters in Northeast Wisconsin will win that.
And one of our listeners, voters will walk away with $250 and gift cards from those participating sponsors.
That's
coming up this morning after 850 with minow and the mayor.
That's awesome.
Can't wait.
I just want to say it again.
That is, but I've been in like a million radio promotions in my lifetime.
Yeah.
This has been the most fun one of anything I've ever done, just because all the people that own the distilleries, just good people and entertaining and we've learned so much.
I mean, I still love the guy, all of them are great, but the guy in Funwack who makes the water.
Ledrock.
Ledrock, where the water they make in their beverages.
is from their backyard in the hills going through the limestone and they grow their own corn.
It's like awesome.
That first guy we had on was brothers.
Yes.
And with that wine, how he just, you know, tries something different every day.
It's like, well, I'll try the peach and see how it works.
And I think that's really cool what Tori was sitting here.
Tori Wittenbrock from the Press Times, being from Southern California, about how underrated
the other things outside of the Packers and cheese are in Wisconsin that are so cool.
And I think these distilleries and these brewers, these craft brewers, I think that's a big part of our whole area now.
But I think 90%, if not 100% were the actual owner.
Yeah.
And that's cool too, because then you're really getting the story.
You know, the incident, the sales manager, the marketing manager, they sent in the owner.
So that was, I really enjoyed that.
It was fun.
We got the backstory and where they're going in the future.
That's great stuff.
Terry bar, are you there?
I am boys.
How are you good?
I didn't think you were there I was stalling a little bit because I saw it empty studio camera, but
that's
So, you know what?
I will fire that up for you the next time.
Okay, fine.
Yeah.
How are you, Terry Barr?
What are you doing this weekend?
You coming around?
You covering the draft at all?
I mean, you pretty much the
Slice of Wisconsin.
I already started covering because, you know, there's so much, as you said, going on.
It was great to hear your last guests because I'm thinking, as I'm listening to them, ooh, we're on it.
We've got these topics.
This is great.
But I have my first slice of Wisconsin about the draft today.
Are you ready for this one?
Absolutely.
Because I have a question for you.
And by the way, Terry, tell everybody
what slice of Wisconsin is.
Oh, a slice of Wisconsin is our twice a month feature.
And we decided we now reveal the new one on your show, which is really fun.
But basically we look for unique, old, historic, just different things around Wisconsin that people may not know about.
and try to reveal that story to the listeners and on the website to the readers as well.
So this one is historic as it relates to the NFL Draft.
Of course, you guys have been talking this up.
Your guests were terrific.
All eyes, yes, are on Green Bay and Wisconsin.
250,000 people expected.
But did you know this is the second time Wisconsin is hosting a draft?
Like Milwaukee one year, like I want to say 1939.
You ruined the whole thing.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
I figured you guys have been doing your homework, but I didn't know how many other people may know that.
I was pretty surprised when I found out.
Yeah.
The first time was back in 1939.
Do you know, John?
So now I'm going to try to stump you.
Do you know what else it was in conjunction with, why it was in Milwaukee in 1939?
Because the Packers are playing in the championship game the next year against the New York Giants to beat them 37-0?
27-0.
But otherwise, you're correct.
I thought you were going to ask me.
Good job.
It's like you read my slice of Wisconsin already.
Oh, keep
talking about it.
I love this, Terry.
Yeah.
Oh, this is, this is such a fun story.
Yep.
Um, they did choose Milwaukee because as you mentioned, the NFL championship game was the following day.
So the draft was a one day little thing that happened before the championship game.
And then the next day, the Packers played and beat the Giants 27 to zero.
That's not all the news I have for you related to the draft and some fun things from around Wisconsin.
Have you heard about the band doozy?
No.
Oh, good.
Okay.
I got something finally.
Okay.
So doozy is an Appleton based band and they are releasing a brand new song this week.
And when they release it to the greater masses Friday night, they're actually going to show up at the NFL draft and play it live on the big stage for everybody.
They put in a, yeah, they put in a request to the NFL and to the Packers.
Do you have an official NFL draft song?
And if you don't, can we write one?
We'd love to write one.
This band has been together 20 years, so they know what they're doing.
So they wrote this song, they submitted it, and we have just a little sample of it if you would like to hear it.
Absolutely.
Okay, Todd, take it away.
I
like
it!
from?
Isn't it
fun?
Yes.
Where are they from?
Doosie is based in Appleton.
And if you want to look them up on social media, they're all over it teasing this song right now.
It's D O O Z E Y. And they kept it in Wisconsin when they recorded at Cherry Pit Studios in Menominee Falls.
You can feel the song has that great sports energy to it.
They wrote it that way intentionally because they really wanted to feel like, you know, kind of overcoming diversity, overcoming obstacles.
And we talked to them over the weekend on Maxingradio as well.
And they said they wanted it to feel like a football player at the NFL draft, just waiting for their time to be the one.
I love it.
I think it's so much fun.
That's
awesome.
Very cool.
Yeah.
Last one
standing.
Last man standing or last one standing.
Sorry about that.
Yeah.
They're going to be on stage, the big stage Friday night.
That's pretty cool.
I got this live for the very first time.
Wow.
That's
awesome.
They got that.
What
a career move.
That
could be
big.
I said, don't forget us.
Yeah,
right, right,
right.
Wow.
How is, I don't know the background of that, Terry.
Do you know?
I mean, did the NFL throw it out there or did these guys come up with it on their own to have a draft theme?
I'd never heard that before.
They went after it as soon as it was announced that the NFL draft this year would be in Wisconsin.
And, you know, smart guys, you know, probably sitting around brainstorming a little bit saying, how can we be part of this?
And, you know, I don't know, do you remember back in Detroit and even back to Kansas City, they highlighted a lot of big local music, but it was often on the bigger side.
Names people knew.
Here comes doozy in Wisconsin, and they're going to stomp on the stage on Friday night and show off what they have got.
That is fantastic.
What a tremendous story that is.
That's cool.
Well, hey, I want to do a shout out for you, Terry.
Terry's been doing a lot of reporting on the draft and will continue with draft updates on our websites at wgbw.fm and wiss.fm.
And every day, Terry and I are getting together and picking a few things to kind of promote on the air as well.
That's been fun, by the way, Terry.
It's always good working with
you on that stuff.
It is fun.
There's so much.
And Mr. Mayor, I heard you say this.
There's so much.
It's almost overwhelming.
So Todd and I kind of go through the schedule every day and pick out what could be favorite picks, like a draft pick, favorite picks, but also maybe something that's a little overlooked.
So we try to pick out, you know, those kinds of things, not something that we know a lot of people already know about.
That's a concern I have because I, a lot of work, you've been in this.
you've done a lot of events and a lot of work goes into an event just a lot of work and just and even today at 10 o'clock now this will be pretty cool but I just want to
say he's speaking from experience because he had our street
closed off one day during our show for a ping-pong ball
drop from a
helicopter.
And the
city workers were actually here.
Todd, do you remember that day?
Oh, yes.
But somebody dropped there under the deal.
So that's why I did what I was supposed to do.
I was good.
I was good.
I knew what I was supposed to do.
But I have to say that even today out at the city stadium, which is very cool,
but there's a
lot of events going on out there for families.
And like I said, there are 16 things going on today, just today.
The draft hasn't really officially officially kicked off yet
and Terry Terry schedule and there's more My favorite I just did a story about this that will be airing today
is what you were talking about happening around the City Walk and the Heritage Trail where they're going to have actors being Vince Lombardi and Curly Lambeau and they're going to tell the stories about what happened in these particular very important historic areas of downtown Green Bay.
The
first person, real live people are doing it.
That's very cool.
Aren't you playing the part of somebody?
I'm so and that the northern hotel they're they're giving tours there tomorrow as well as part of that and Frank Herman's is Somebody George not George Kerwin who George Calhoun George Calhoun Paul Everson.
Yep
is somebody and I'm somebody why who are you?
I don't know, at the
10 tomorrow.
Amongst those people, which
one was collegiately bestowed with Actor of the Year Award, collegiately, which one of them, not you, not Frank, not Paul Everson, and they didn't ask me to portray somebody?
I'm not in charge.
I just, I'm not in charge.
Wow.
So that is going on tomorrow, but that's all part of it.
But see, those are the little things that I think are going on that, you know, I think people would enjoy.
Get overshadowed a little bit.
And most of these things, right?
Like 99% of them are free.
Right.
Right.
Which I think is also really cool.
And you can go for an hour, hour and a half.
So anyway, yeah, thanks for doing that.
I'm trying to do, you know, we're trying to do our part here as much as we can.
The
lady from the press times.
The press cassette had something in today with a lot of stuff, not everything, but you know, you can only do so much.
Anyway, I just hope people who are coming into town.
If we can help them find little things like that, because today you can't do 16 things in one day.
I hope they go exploring.
I hope they don't get stuck in the one area where they think all the excitement is happening because there is so many exciting things going on.
Even Appletons hosting draft events.
Right, Myla Music.
Yeah.
And
you can hop on the bus at the Fox River Mall and ride up.
safely, easily to Green Bay, ride on back.
I mean, everything's covered.
It feels like, yeah.
We got a text.
Kathy says, is there just one schedule where we can see everything?
That's what Jim was just asking too, yeah.
Yeah.
I haven't found it because every page I look at has sharing of different things.
I think one that has been the best for me is the city of Green Bay website.
I don't know that they have a lot of Appleton stuff on there.
No, they wouldn't.
That is so true.
You probably have
to go to the city of Appleton.
But I know the city of Green Bay has links.
They may not list everything, but they have links to almost everything they can find.
And I would think Appleton probably did the same thing, but now I'm going to check it out.
Yes,
that's it.
Next draft.
You're in charge of that, Jim.
Next draft.
You're in charge of that.
You know, I will say this.
It gets frustrating when people, and I get a lot of my friends saying, I'm leaving town.
I don't
want to.
Oh, man.
It's like, come on.
Oh, man, embrace this.
It's free.
Yeah,
it's a
good store.
Yeah,
it's historic.
We got the entire football world and literally the world is looking at Green Bay, Wisconsin
and Northeast Wisconsin.
It's so exciting.
Are you guys, are you both go in there at some point?
Oh,
yeah.
Yeah.
And I think a legit
concern was traffic, but you know, we have that 15 minute shuttle runs every 15 minutes.
That is not a long wait.
No.
So anyway, I just think people
And today's a good day to kind of kick the tires.
It really starts officially tomorrow, but you know, get a driver.
Yeah, we're going down there.
Well, I've done it yesterday, but yeah, I think it's going to be great.
I can't wait.
I'm looking forward to it.
I really am.
I think it's going to be cool.
So yeah,
and all your sports coverage, listen for Mike Clemens.
He's going to have the coverage
from
one end to the other for
sports.
Absolutely.
Terry Barg, give your show one quick
plug.
It's the slice of Wisconsin.
It's coming out today.
First here on Mino and the Mayor.
Oh, Stan.
Terry Barr, you're the
best.
Rock on, guys.
You
bet.
Thank you, Terry Barr.
Slice of Wisconsin.

Religiously.
Those are great
small
businesses.
Yeah.
Going to be big businesses, but yeah.
Shout out to our sales guy, Pete too.
Oh yeah.
Peter did a great job.
He did.
Absolutely.
So fun.
He reached out, met with each of the sponsors, say, hey, come on, let's have some fun with the draft.
We created the craft pick and boom, had a lot of fun with it.
Fantastic.
This has been great.
Congratulations to everybody out there and the town of Dale.
Look out.
Yeah.
Party in there today.
And that's easy to get to.
Absolutely.
So that'd be fun.
Super.
Jeff Mercus just sent a thing.
Yeah, I was looking at that.
Touchdowngreen.com Green Bay.
That's close
to, that's a good website to go to.
Touchdown.
touchdown downtown dot com.
Lot a lot of info on there.
Not everything but 99% of it, right?
We just talked about Appleton and some of these other Manitowoc.
There's things going on all over.
I got a question for you.
I got a question for you.
So you guys had a big event at the new community shelter last night.
Got a $50,000 check.
How were you guys selected?
The NFL selected it.
They were gonna,
they come into a town and do a nonprofit.
every every NFL draft and we asked them that which was cool and they were very kind with their response but they just wanted
support someone who supports the community.
Was Roger Goodell there serving people?
He wasn't
there.
I was hoping he was gonna show up.
It really was.
But Aaron Jones, Marco Rivera.
Yeah, and they had some other
hot Clint
Dix.
And they had some people, quite a few people from New York
that were
there, but you know, they're
not household
names.
I don't know.
Yeah, yeah,
yeah.
I'm asking who they were.
Super nice people, every one of them.
And then obviously they had people from Little Caesars that, that's what they do.
NFL Films, right?
Yup, they were there.
A lot of media there, I was surprised by that.
It was great.
great energy.
And of course, you know, the people who were there, the people who come for the community meal and other people, um, we're very
grateful.
And Vince Patrano, who's show you used to come on all the time, but you don't remember.
He was there.
It was great
to see him.
You didn't even know he was there.
Okay.
Tavia says thank you guys from all of us at old station 31.
Congratulations, Tavia.
We just, we just BS for a living.
You guys make it all
happen.
Yeah.
And you deserve that.
I mean, they all did.
Can't wait to
stop out.
Yeah, we'll do that.
No, that was a nice kickoff last night.
And I don't know.
They just said they looked at some other nonprofits.
I mean, 50
grand.
You know what?
That was a surprise.
That's a lot of money.
That is a lot of money for
us.
Having worked in a nonprofit type of endeavor, where you rub two dimes together to get a quarter, sometimes it's like, man, when somebody offers you a check like that.
Well,
think about, John, we can serve.
You know, we squeeze every penny over there, but, you know, we can serve, you know, 150, 200 people for $250.
Yeah.
I mean, that's like six months.
I
mean, that is a lot of lot of food.
It's
phenomenal.
So we're delighted with that last night.
And like I said, they were just, they were
as happy as we were.
You got to do one thing though.
You got to let DeLoria know.
the next time you guys have catfish does tell him about that yesterday's like you can't get catfish around here i'm not like where do you have catfish they said we got the community shelter that
was funny
oh we got this i think patrick mahomes is helping a youth event today at noon at old city stadium his
mom
oh his mom
okay yeah she's helping out
there oh that's cool which is cool yeah very cool
yeah she's helping out there
absolutely you know that's another thing if people really want to know about green bay um
cities to Green Bay East High School.
That's not the birthplace that there was Hagenmeister Park that nobody is totally quite sure where it was because then it got built over or whatever whatever but I mean that was where the Green Bay Packers played their football games right there.
And that's where Curly Lambo went to high
school.
Houses right there
Jim Crowley went to high school.
I mean if you want to know about the birth of the Green Bay Packers the most storied franchise in You know maybe next to the Yankees or something and
why not you're here take that
right here,
right?
Yeah,
so that's cool
All right, man, this has been a fun day.
Yeah, a lot of great guests.
Appreciate everybody that came on.
The Animal Flingerman Heritage Show.
We'll talk more about that thing that I'm going to be a part of on Friday.
Chad Franco, wonderful gentlemen, meals with a friend.
Ben and Deanna Malkor, Janelle Fisher, Tori Wittenbrock, Mary Rode, Press Times, and on Broadway, and Terry Barst, Slice of Wisconsin.
You guys are all great.
Thanks for doing that.
We'll be back in tomorrow morning, man.
It is NFL Draft Headquarters, Green Bay, Wisconsin, Appleton, Oshkosh.
See ya.
