by this incendiary way of talking about it, making us feel like we're terrorists out there.

But, you know, if we're not on board with a fascist government, then I guess we're all just...

And then JD Vance is out there saying that they're going to retrain the government in order to go after their political enemies.

doing that, they're after John Bolton now.

He's been indicted.

Yeah, well this time they've got a really good case You know what that doesn't obscure the fact that he's going after his enemies, okay?

Let's let's let's not put that aside because they got a better case against John Bolton who is somebody I don't like but you know

as

far as I'm concerned this is a an administration of retribution

and it's

just a Unbelievable and I'll tell you what we're gonna have that same Same philosophy when we get in power again

the Democrats and there's a Democratic president.

We're going after every one of these sycophants.

We're going after each and every one of them because they don't have immunity like the president has.

These people are following his orders.

That does not mean that they have immunity.

I mean, they have a paper trail that is just unbelievable.

And by the way, every one of these ICE agents that are masked, their names are known by the government.

And they're going to be known and we're going to go after them, too.

Except of course, we can't pinpoint who each and every one of them is who have done these horrible things that are caught on video,

at least we can try.

Well, let's hope that, uh, you know, the king steps down at some point, uh, you know, because of the voting is all up in the air.

They're really taking

the votes.

He's going to cling on to power until his dying

day.

I don't know about the other states that are redistricting.

don't know too much about that.

We know that Texas went through with it.

I

don't

know the other states, so if they also follow through with their redistricting, there's going to be a difficult time for the Democrats to get back in control

of

Congress.

And you're right.

I mean, I think the Democrats, if they do get control, they're going to go after the Republicans.

And they'll say, oh, that's retribution.

Well, I think you, I think you

blew that argument right

away.

But if Trump is still holding power, he can still pardon them.

You know, that's the problem.

Right.

You don't think so.

Well, because he's still king.

Well, he, well, yeah, yeah, that's right.

He stays in power.

I mean, he's, he's got immunity, but he could grant pardons.

Oh, good.

Yeah.

You know, so they're probably banking on that.

I highly believe, you

know, we've got three years and a few months.

of things to just wash out.

I am telling you, we got a stock market that is just really just almost bottoming out.

Now they're worried about the banks again.

You know, deregulation didn't work out during the Great Recession.

We found out that that didn't work.

We had Ellen Greenspan, who was a big proponent of free markets, admit

that there was a flaw in his thinking.

Because the thinking is that the banks wouldn't take a chance and go out of business by making risky loans, but they did.

And that was the flaw in the ointment or fly in the ointment.

There you go.

So there it is.

And we're back at it again.

The smaller banks are making risky loans.

But the best pasta is the one that is pressed through brass.

And the reason why it's the best kind of pasta is because brass creates a very rough surface on the pasta, and that rough surface holds the sauces that you put on the pasta.

So it's a little more expensive to buy that kind of pasta, but you might want to look for it or just splurge sometime.

Just ask John once again.

How did you know that brass makes that kind of difference?

Well, it's pasta

because they write it right on the package.

They always always present that as a big plus in the reason they're charging three or four dollars more for a pound of pasta.

So I've been here about a year and a half now.

I've gotten a lot of people talking about my quote-unquote accent that I don't think I have.

I actually got told I sound like a dumb Paul Harvey.

That's hilarious.

Being compared to Paul Harvey, I can't be too mad.

That's true.

Well, we were talking a little bit off the air before we came on here and we're talking a little bit about this chicken flu and what's going around.

Yeah, the bird flu was found in

somebody's backyard and I, everybody know.

I warned you.

I warned you about these damn backyard chicken coops when they started bringing it up and thought, oh, this is a great idea.

I have my own eggs now.

Yeah.

You can't test them.

No one's out there testing these bird coops.

You know, you just can't, you can't do that.

It's not really the case.

It's not healthy.

They don't test them at all.

Yeah, they don't test people's chicken coops in their backyards, right, Ben?

Yeah.

No, like right now it's just

If you see signs, then you tell that cap, you know, and they'll come out and like confirm or not.

But the interesting thing about this is in backyard cases, so in commercial flocks, you have a 10 kilometer radius of quarantine if it's found in a commercial flock.

But backyards, you don't have that.

So they actually have a list of the people that own poultry in their backyards and they can just kind of send them a letter and say, hey, your neighbor over there.

Mmm.

Our chickens got bird flu and so we had to kill them all so.

Oh wow.

Wow.

So be

wary.

Yeah.

Well, so if I had a neighbor that had a bird coob, I'd be over there killing them

Well, let's move on to something else here.

Tell us what's going on with the soybean trade conditions.

I mean, everybody's up in arms about this, and soybean farmers are, rightly so, very upset about the price that they're getting for their beans, right?

Yeah, since they were completely cut off by China, are there other markets for the farmers to sell their soybeans?

Yeah, I mean, right now, like you said, cut off from China has not bought any.

while they're still setting records for their buys from South America for their soybeans, and they're actually building forts and things in South America to enable them to take in more of their soybeans.

So right now, yeah, they're working on finding new markets, one of which my co-worker sent me off, talked with someone with the United Soybean Marketing Board, and they just got back from Nigeria, where they're hoping to be able to send some soybeans for their aquaculture.

So that's one of those new markets are working on, but right now farmers from the heat of harvest.

I mean, a lot of them are done with soybeans now, but we have this huge supply and storage is starting to come an issue for soybeans.

Can we utilize them here?

Yeah.

So we use them in biodiesel quite a bit and then feed for our animals, but you can only have so much of that before.

Yeah.

you know, we need to strip them off.

We only have so much of a domestic demand for the soybean.

Well, you know, if they could make puffs out of them and sell them as cereal, that would be one way to do it.

I don't know.

You know, I don't know how they make cereal, but it's still a mystery, man.

I was always waiting for Mr. Rogers to have one of those field trips where they explain how they make cereal.

Going

out to the mills.

How they

make shredded wheat and puffed wheat and stuff like that.

Who knows how they do that kind of stuff?

I don't

know.

Yeah.

They do use it in food, you know, soy oil and whatnot.

Sure.

Yeah,

that's true.

And we send off cooking oil and what so and then we are no longer getting cooking oil from China Yeah, and another nonsent percent tariff, which I know farmers are a little bit scary on

We had some showers earlier and it looks like that has moved out and right now 59 degrees.

It's going to warm up a bit today, 76 for a high this afternoon.

We're

going to take a look at the new Republicans.

And the reason I'm so interested in this is because I have two Gen Zs at home.

And I didn't realize that there is a mega Gen Zer out there.

I didn't think that they would have bought into all of this stuff, but they have.

And Chris Hayes did a great piece on it.

We'll be playing that in just a moment.

But first, let's go to the phone lines.

Oh, first off, Benjamin has a great voice.

It's distinctive and I love it.

I do too.

He's a

very good reporter.

He and Pam, excuse me, opened doors for me in terms of understanding Wisconsin's ag and I really appreciate the work they do.

But it's interesting that you brought that up because I was going to call, there's a terrific article.

It's very important for us to understand soybeans and our farmers because it's a huge crop for us here in Wisconsin and people are going through a world of hurt because of the

choices that Mr. Trump has made.

Paul Krugman, the economist, has a sub-stack, and it's got this great title of this piece.

It says America First.

No billionaire buddies first.

And it's a very good examination of kind of the economics behind this ridiculous deployment of $20 billion to the country of Argentina, which has just slammed our soybean farmers, as I'm sure you've indicated before.

But there were two points within this article that I thought just summed things up so well.

In it, he is talking about the fact that Scott Besant, our Treasury Secretary, has said that it's very important for us to give $20 billion to Argentina because, quote, they are a systematically important ally.

The

Financial Times noted, this is news to many.

It is.

It is.

Yeah.

And he notes that it's point.

five percent of our exports are going to argentina so not really not really but he goes through this in examination but he ends up with a statement that i i just thought this really really said it well he's talking about the fact that trump dump this money into argentina and he he said that funds will not continue if the uh... if maybe uh... new aid that uh... uh... president is not

is not, does not win the election.

And

people in Argentina are furious about this because it's just, it's bullying them.

He said about it.

Trump clearly inhabits his own magic kingdom unaware of how unpopular his bullying of other countries is.

I think there's never been a better statement.

He inhabits his own

I love that.

Now let's get to the new generation, Jen Ziers, who are

not the nicest people in the world we found out.

Yeah, they went to a particular website and checked out what was being discussed by the new generation of Republicans.

And Chris Hayes did a great feature on it.

I want to play some of this.

Could we just start it here?

The

modern Republican Party under Donald Trump is an increasingly extreme organization.

It's trafficked in some of the worst, most disgusting, hateful bigotry, racism, anti-Semitism, and we're learning it's even worse behind closed doors.

Just yesterday, Politico published some private chat messages from about a dozen leaders of the young Republican group across the country.

Politico's reporting revealed a culture where racist, anti-Semitic, and violent rhetoric circulate freely.

This was horrible, gross stuff.

And it didn't happen in a vacuum.

I mean, the rhetoric here is a core part of the formation of an entire subsection, a whole magocentric cohort of conservatives.

And when the news of these chats broke yesterday, you saw a really interesting dynamic playing out.

Some Republicans did, I think, the natural thing, which was move to condemn what they read, condemn the chat members.

Many of the people on that chat were fired or had job offers rescinded.

The Black Conservative Federation, for instance, said, quote, let us be absolutely clear.

Racism is not conservatism.

Bigotry, hatred, and moral rot dressed up as jokes or free speech are the very evils that our movement must reject with moral clarity.

Many Republicans were doing that until yesterday into today, when someone rode in to stop them, when Trump's vice president said, quit it.

where he gained notoriety last year for following lots of white supremacist accounts, including a self-proclaimed historian who praised Hitler and claimed that Winston Churchill was the chief villain of World War II.

Today, Vice President JD Vance did the thing that he always does.

It's the, oh, just get over it.

By focusing on what kids are saying in a group chat, grow up.

I'm sorry.

Focus on the real issues.

Don't focus on what kids say in group chats.

If you put something in a group chat, assume that some scumbag is going to leak it in an effort to try to cause you harm or cause your family harm.

But the reality is that kids do stupid things, especially young boys.

They tell edgy offensive jokes like that's what kids do.

Kids, young boys tell edgy jokes.

Now, just to be

clear,

The members of the young Republicans are not nine years old, and they are not 15 or 16.

In fact, they range in age from 18 to 40.

Vance is 41.

Peter Junta.

Until today, he was the chief of staff for New York Republican state legislator Michael Riley.

When the chair of the Arizona Young Republicans asked if the New Yorkers in the chat were watching an NBA playoff game,

Junta responded, I'd go to the zoo if I wanted to watch monkey play ball.

He also ridiculed black people, Indian women, female and non-white pilots and wrote, quote, I love Hitler.

He threatened anyone who voted against him in an upcoming election is, quote, going to the gas chamber.

Junta has since been fired.

You've got William Hendricks, that's the Kansas young Republicans vice chair.

Now Politico says Hendricks used variations of the n-word more than a dozen times in those chats.

He was also a full-time communications assistant for Kansas Republican Attorney General Chris Kobach until he was fired yesterday.

Sitting Vermont State Senator.

This state senator suggested in the chat that non-white women didn't bathe.

And a Catholic high school counselor who responded to a gas chamber remark with the retort quote, I'm ready to watch people burn now.

She has since lost her job as a counselor.

The whole point here is to send the message from JD Vans.

This behavior is good, fine, actually encouraged.

It's part of what defined you as part of this

in-group, like being an edgy edgelord who makes offensive jokes.

Not by Democrats, like New York Governor Kathy Hockel will be hearing from later in the show.

Some bad apples.

These are the future Republican Party.

This was so vile.

It is hard to find the words to...

put into context.

This is not one person saying they love Hitler.

This is a whole lot of people saying things that are so disgusting and so abhorrent that everybody from the president on down should condemn them.

There needs to be consequences.

This bullcrap has to stop.

The problem is, this is part of the ideological formation of the new MAGA Vanguard.

This is the world Trump is building.

And the young Republicans in that chat and the halls of Congress have clearly gotten the memo.

Wow.

A lot there to unpack, but...

You know, those young Republicans, I was checking some of those ages too.

They're like mid to upper 20s and low 30s, this group that was involved in this chat.

They're not boys.

They're not, you can't just slough it out like, oh, these are just some kids online.

Teenagers, right?

Yeah,

14 to 17.

Well, they'll say anything, right?

Yeah, this is 18 to 40.

Right.

And it's just amazing that the vice president would come out defending them, protecting them.

Making sure that they're okay.

You can keep this up, you know,

you'll grow out of it.

No, you

won't.

You grow into it.

We've seen that happen.

Just amazing stuff.

And I just didn't know this was happening.

So I asked my Gen Z sons at home, well, is this really going on?

And on your side today, I know that, you know, they know all of this stuff.

And they said, oh,

without a doubt.

I mean, it's just like, well, you could have told me giving me a heads up on this, but yeah, they have friends from high school that are just way out there,

just

way out.

I have a few friends from high school that are the same way, just way out there.

I mean, I go on Discord, everything's just all out there, and it's just... Yeah.

That's awful

And this is a very scary time for almost all of us.

This is kind of a weird, this is kind of bubbling up here in Wisconsin, a lot turning point USA, you know, being in some of our schools here.

And this is, this is a wild story.

Turning point state representative said the group is not political or religious, if you can believe.

Well, I don't know if that's a convincing argument.

Yeah.

Wisconsin teen Katie Smiley was used as a poster child in order to make a sympathetic and maybe, yeah, maybe we could have Turning Point in our grade schools and high schools.

Come on, folks.

Anyway, here's Katie.

She's being asked by the media up north and they asked her about how she felt about Turning Point USA, the chapter being turned down again at her school.

So Katie, tell me your reaction to what you heard at the board meeting.

I'm just frustrated that we're not able to change the policy that Hillsdale specifically made accommodating for situations like this in that the administration isn't willing to change the policy because there's an availability to and they're just choosing not to.

So you believe that they should because the leader of Turning Point in Wisconsin stood up and said that they're not a political and religious organization.

What?

So do you believe the policy should allow a turning point club, not a generic civics club?

Yeah, because it's not political and it's not religious.

So and we specifically stated in our constitution in my laws that we would not discriminate against any like situations that a person might have.

That's right.

So if she had read our

constitution.

All right.

Well, you know, that's like country classic academy.

It's a Christian school.

conservative that turned down.

Hmm.

Okay.
