When the chips are down and democracy's back is up against the wall, two radio veterans step up to the microphone to right the wrongs, standing for truth, justice, and just because.
To say what needs to be said, it's John and Gordy on 92.7 WMDX.
And another beautiful day.
John and Gordy in the morning on 92.7 WMDX.
Good morning.
Hey.
Happy
Friday.
Yeah.
It's
finally here.
Yeah.
It's been a long, long week.
Yeah.
A lot of stuff going on this week.
Wow.
I didn't think this could happen.
It was like a condensed one year version of what the administration would look like, but I'm mad.
I don't know.
It's, you know, it's even getting worse today.
I mean, so many things, so many shoes have dropped.
Never a dull moment.
There really is.
Well, what a nice way to put it.
Never a dull moment.
Yeah.
Try to look on the bright side.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Why not?
Why not?
Silver lining in every cloud.
There is.
Sure.
Yes.
Yes.
It's all good.
It's Friday, so, you know.
Ha
ha, weekend
is here.
Well, with the Trump administration, we'd have to call it a gold lining.
Everything is gold.
Oh, this is the golden age.
Yeah, you know, you're right.
Yeah.
It is beautiful out there this morning, nice and clear and cool.
56 degrees highs in the upper 70s today and looks like a good weekend ahead of us.
In just a few minutes, in about 10 minutes or so, we'll be talking with Pam Yankee.
the fabulous farm babe, get an update on the Midwest food and farm report and what else is going on in our area.
And then we'll check in with Savannah, Tomei Olson, uh, after our seven o'clock hour in, in our seven o'clock hour, I should say, and rockers here with a maxing preview, uh, beginning at seven 35.
Yeah.
That's the big lineup for today.
Rocker texted me and
he
said, yeah, he said he was excited.
He was excited for today.
I don't know what that means.
I don't know.
Is
there something special?
I don't know.
That he's bringing to the table?
I don't know.
Probably.
I would
expect nothing less from Rocker.
You're right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm just looking at the WMDX poll.
Okay.
Are you planning to cut cable to protest the networks borrowing to the Trump administration?
Well, you know,
Yeah, not a lot of people did Technically I mean on a national level it really didn't happen and I think people kind of backtracked and went back Yeah, to you know the pluses, you know hulu plus and YouTube TV and
Well, I was only suspended he wasn't yeah, and you know So he was off for a few days.
I
know a lot of people like said canceled.
He wasn't canceled.
Yeah
Just
off
the air just on vacation just taking a few days to siesta cooling off beer.
That's right
Yeah, he's back
now.
Yeah, and People here on our poll mentioned that it's just a temporary thing and that is 9.5% Yes
But I am still using streaming services, which is the most popular one, 61.9%.
That's one I chose.
And no, it hurts too many people, 19%.
And no, I support Trump and his efforts to clean up late night TV.
9.5%.
I would assume the 9.5% is like one person voted for that one.
Maybe.
They didn't get a full, you know, 10, but that's okay.
We made sure they didn't get that full 10%.
You still have a chance to get into the poll.
Today's the last day and we'll change it to whatever the next question is.
Something very current.
I'm sure.
Something hard hitting, very serious.
Yeah.
Something cutting edge.
Sure.
You think so?
I don't know.
It would be cutting edge, right?
I mean, you're Mr. Positive here this morning.
I have no idea what the next poll question will be.
You know, I don't either.
I thought you were the one that was coming up with
all of these.
Well, I came up with this one, but I haven't come up with another one.
Okay.
Catherine comes up with these things.
Really?
And then I kind of twist them and shape them when I can into something that
You and I could use on this show.
Remember, this show is for the listener out there.
You are the main person for this program.
I mean, we are
taking your
comments.
We're taking your calls.
We're taking your voice notes.
That's true.
It is your program.
You are the ones controlling the horizontal.
And the vertical.
Beyond.
What was that show?
Those are the outer limits.
The outer
limits,
yes.
Yeah, phone lines are open.
If you want to get in during the early going here, 608-879-8255.
And you can always text us on the Civic Media app.
And also in our seven o'clock hour, of course, our go for the green and gold contest will continue.
So lots on our plate for today.
Mark suggested that maybe you should play Monty Python's always look on the bright
side.
Yeah, we
haven't played that for a while.
No, it's something Well, I mean it's hard to look at the bright side Right while all of this is happening You know somebody texted us yesterday.
I know this a little too early.
Maybe they're not up yet But we can bring it up later on too
How do they access our old shows?
They want to listen to some of the older podcast shows that we did because they want to check out all the times at CJ.
Was on the program and listen to CJ's response
Well, they would be to our questions.
Yeah, they would be able to if they go on civic media the civic media website and Look into our shows and they can just go to previous keep clicking on previous previous previous shows if he really wants to go far back And there is CJ as like a guest it would say call her CJ
and then
oh really?
We go
to
civicmedia.us.
In the
credits, where would he find the credits?
The credits?
I
could not tell
you.
How do you know CJ's?
Can you just plug in CJ and do a search?
I don't know about
that one.
Yeah, I give it a try.
I'm not too sure about that.
All right,
well, you
know,
high tech.
Did I just do something?
Yeah, you clicked something there and now everything's all screwed up on the screen.
Thanks.
Oh
Yeah,
you can't okay sure go ahead and try that Always good when you get control of the mouse.
Well, I didn't do it way
over to the it's
out of my reach So, you know,
there you go.
And now you got it back where it sort of belongs Okay, um, oh we have Matt on the phone this morning.
He's uh, he's up early.
Good morning
Matt.
What do you got for us today?
Good morning guys you asked for a call, so I thought I'd deliver Happy Friday I'm just wondering today.
It feels like the culture war where the evangelical Christians and all of the Insecure white people that were afraid of being replaced all that kind of nonsense Kind of turned into a real revolution with the white nationalist problem
Yeah,
and it just makes me wonder.
It's like there's a reason that their culture did not take over America and the West Because it's so effing boring.
Have you ever?
Like these mega churches the shows they have are so hokey and and kind of just really lame and That's why it never took over television.
This is why they're so angry with the left kind of dominating
Hollywood, culture, music, things like that.
Because
their stuff is so lame.
I know.
They don't want to push that on everybody.
And no one's going to pay to watch that stuff or consume it.
It's kind of like a doom loop for them, right?
It is a doom loop.
You have brought a smile to my face this morning.
You're
absolutely right.
You know, and if they do try, you know, Christian nationalist programming on our networks, good luck with that.
Yeah.
But I'll tell you what,
if you go down, if you go down, if you travel to people to watch it, you have to pay people to watch.
Well, yeah,
yeah, maybe we can
make a little money that way, right?
But if you go down south of the Mason-Dixon line, it's a different story.
You still see those shows all the time.
Yeah, I mean there are tons of really I'm not kidding.
Yeah, so
there are like Jim and Tammy's
oh, yeah still just of this day.
Yeah modern
day,
but wow Yeah,
they're still out there.
By the way, did you watch Jim and Tammy when you were watching TV back then?
Well, even at the age of five, I knew they were a nightmare.
Yeah
They
were they were actually fun to watch
Yes,
she would get very emotional yes,
those
were the days they were
Just love it.
Oh,
you know, there's a big you know
The big fiasco that took place at the UN, rather, and at the Union.
That would have been a fiasco down here at the Union.
But anyway, the British newspaper came up with a headline that I just thought was excellent.
The UN fiasco, the British newspaper, The Mirror, posted this,
most powerful man baby.
And in big letters, deranged.
Take a picture of Trump
on the front there.
Trump rants to UN about climate, migrants, Gaza, Sharia law, London law.
escalators, marble floors, and teleprompters.
Well, his prompter didn't work, so he was on his own.
It's
just something else.
I've got that story coming up later on, I hope.
Sometimes we don't have time for this stuff, but yeah.
I've got
how that all worked out, and a web wonder with it.
Excellent.
We'll see.
Do we have time for, would you rather?
Sure we do.
All right.
Hit it, Tom.
All right.
Oh, there we go.
I do like the music more than the last one by a
long
shot.
Yeah, me too.
So what do you have today for a question?
All right, first question.
Would you rather have a five star personal chef who can prepare any meal at any time of the day?
Or have a chauffeur that drives you to and from anywhere you want in any vehicle you want?
Man, I'll take the chef any day of the week.
Really?
Really?
I want to drive.
I love driving.
You want to?
Yeah.
I think I would do the driving, though.
I would do the driving.
Yeah, I think I'd go in far away.
I don't care about the chef.
What do you mean you don't care about the chef?
What was that question again?
It was a personal chef who could prepare any meal you want or a chauffeur who can take you in any vehicle you want everywhere.
One or the other.
Like forever,
I mean forever
you have a chef
with you forever.
Yeah, and you would want a chauffeur not a chef.
Yes.
Yes
Wow, okay, I didn't expect that answer
All right, well especially around here.
I mean, you know, there's no parking anywhere in Madison.
I can't find any place.
It's not that bad.
Oh, okay, really?
Okay.
Alright.
Next
question.
I'll take the
good food
item.
Next
question.
Would you rather have your hair change color based on your mood or have your skin temporary change texture based on what you last ate?
I'll take the mood.
I think the mood hair.
Yeah, I would do the mood hair too.
Yeah, I think I'd go with that.
Wouldn't that be fun?
Yeah, I think that'd be cool.
Yeah, that'd be cool.
Yeah, I want to do it.
soon, actually.
You know, that might be a great experiment for somebody to try and come up with a drug that makes your hair change according to your mood.
You know, maybe we could
ask the
pharmaceutical
industry to jump on that one.
That might be our next piece of merchandise to put on the John and Gordy coming soon page.
That's right.
Let's work on that.
Yeah, we have to work on that one.
Okay.
Yeah.
All righty, 19 minutes past the hour.
Well, when the whistling guy gets here, it's time for us
to take a break.
We gotta move along and Pam Yankee is waiting in the wings with the Midwest Food and Farm Report behind the scenes.
She'll tell us what's happening.
Coming up next on John and Gordy.
WMDX getting on the Goodfoot 92.7 also on the Civic Media app.
Choose WMDX and listen through your car radio or just on your phone, you know, that's that's and you can also watch us.
That's right.
Yes.
We're both wearing our fancy t-shirts today.
You have the WMDX t-shirt.
That's right.
And I have your sandwich guy might.
My sandwich protester guy throwing a sub sandwich at an ice agent or national guard
guy.
I don't know.
It didn't hurt him though.
It's 23 past the hour.
Clear and cool this morning.
56 degrees highs in the upper 70s.
Let's talk to Pam Yonkey, the fabulous farm babe.
Good morning, Pam.
Morning, guys.
And I'm wearing my Green Bay Packers shirt, which is my traditional garb on the Friday before game.
Oh,
yeah.
Yeah, I got a pack or shirt on this one.
Oh, yeah, he's got a green shirt.
Yeah.
You know, with egg prices down and everything, everybody's forgotten about the bird flu, but now that is back in Wisconsin again.
Yeah, they just confirmed our first case this fall in Jefferson County, and it shouldn't surprise anybody.
We know that as migratory birds pass over Wisconsin headed for their southern homes, they're bringing along with them the chance that we are going to get infected.
High path avian influenza in a commercial flock, a large numbered flock in Jefferson County.
My one of my
thought is, I worry that it's the same flock that has almost routinely been infected with high path avian influenza.
I mean, I was talking with Nick Lewandowski, who's the president, past president of the Wisconsin Poultry Association.
And he was telling me about how just like anything when it comes to agriculture, we're seeing a lot of consolidation in the poultry industry, not just in Wisconsin, but really around the United States.
And he said, you know, when some of these operators get hit,
with something that's as devastating as high path avian influenza.
Because remember, they have to depopulate the entire flock and then start over again.
He said, you know, that's impetus for a lot of these operators to decide they're tossing in the towel or going to let another company acquire them.
That's a concern that Nick's got.
He's expanding his hatching operation.
up in the Beaver Dam area, he's actually going to be moving to Horicon to get a bigger footprint.
And he's got, uh, cooperators all around Wisconsin is telling me about some growers that he's got up by Nina and some growers that he's got in Northwest Wisconsin.
So, you know, whenever I see one of these cases pop up, it just kind of worries about, worries me about how it's going to, uh, brittle the rest of the poultry industry in Wisconsin.
So, uh, gotta keep an eye on it.
Hopefully this is only going to be an isolated case this year.
And
And the department of bag is mobilized and trying to get that under control.
Well, it sounds like a better idea is to instead of these large stocks of birds, can't you just split it up?
And, you know, if one is affected, the other one isn't.
So if you split all these big farms up, that would be a better idea, right?
And they do.
And they do.
We do that in Derry as well.
They call them satellite locations.
So you may have, like, say, the office in one area, and then you'll have additional barns in different areas.
That's why Nick's got his growers kind of dotting the state that operation in Jefferson, like I said, may just be
One situation where they've got all their laying hands in one area or something like that But a lot of the poultry industry have those satellite locations like you said so that they can mitigate some of that risk But I'd be taking another look, you know, you also have to talk to your backyard burgers
a lot of
people have chickens now boy And I'll
tell you
it's not just chickens it be ducks or geese you get my
here
But boy, I'm telling you you start to let them out at you know, you want to let them out so they can be out on the grass and
all
all that kind
of stuff.
Well,
without good biosecurity measures in place, you are risking your backyard birds to the same infection that that commercial flock in Jefferson was exposed to.
Well, I'm glad you scared everybody who does have those birds now.
So, let's get to the, I know, you know, I thought that was the biggest flaw in the idea of having your own chickens for eggs.
It seemed like you really couldn't control that.
You don't have the science there.
You don't have the, you know, the, the, the checkup.
on your birds to see whether they have the bird flu or not.
So yeah, that's a dangerous thing.
All right, let's get to the cranberry crop, which is a huge, huge part of our economy here in Wisconsin.
So what's happening with that?
Well, I just want to remind people that the harvest has started.
This is one of those unique times of the year from now until probably toward the end of October.
If you want to take a drive and you want to decolor, we don't have color in the leaves necessarily, but
pretty soon you're going to see color in the cranberry bogs.
And if you head up towards Warren, Wisconsin Rapids, even Eagle River, there's growers that would love to have you come out and visit the bogs.
I don't know if they're going to let you walk in the bogs, but you'll be able to see the harvest unfold and it's really beautiful.
I was talking with one of the growers by Eagle River, though, and he said he's a little concerned that their yields might be off a little bit this year because of all the smoke that came in from Canada.
It
was
a bad timing.
The
cranberries really needed straight on sunshine to get the most out of their buds.
And that didn't necessarily materialize.
And then they had that scare earlier in September when we got the cooler temperatures.
So I'm thinking we're still going to dominate North America with Wisconsin cranberry production, but maybe not a record breaker like we've seen in the
past.
Yeah.
And Pam, how are the fall colors looking across the state up north, starting to get close to peak?
Well, we talked to a DNR specialist that's keeping an eye on it.
And then I looked at travelwisconsin.com and I think we still have a little time yet.
You
know, we're going to be in the 80s this weekend again.
And I don't think that any tree is really getting the feel that winter's on the way.
Even in the Northwoods right now, they do not have much for color.
But the DNR specialist we talked to said because of the cooler temperatures we had in September and ample water, ample moisture, he thinks this could be one of the most beautiful falls Wisconsin seen in a few years.
So travel
Wisconsin.com has a color map.
If you want to kind of keep an eye on that, I think now is the time.
If that's something that you really get your jam on liking to drive around and see colors, you should have plenty of opportunity coming up in the next few weeks.
All right.
Excellent.
Thank you, Pam.
You have a good weekend.
You bet your
fellas.
Talk to you next week.
You too.
Talk to you Monday.
Have a good game.
We'll see you.
29 past the hour when we return.
It's a special web wisdom edition of Idiocracy.
It is.
Oh, I'm John and Gordy.
And that's to laugh, to smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in a dumps, don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing.
And always look on the bright side of life.
Come on.
Always look on the bright side of life.
As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point.
Intelligence continued to decline until humanity was incapable of solving even its most basic problems.
The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.
No!
You dense, irritating miniature beast of burden!
Idiocracy!
For the smartest guy in the world, you're pretty dumb sometimes.
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Well, we've got a lot of that this time around, and this is a very special edition of Idiocracy, and this is a Web Wisdom edition.
We'll get to those in just a moment.
635, sunshine today, highs in the upper 70s, right now a cool 56 degrees.
Want to remind you our walk to end, Alzheimer's is coming up.
at Warner Park Sunday October 5th and you can be a part of the action if you'd like to walk with us you can do that you can join our team or you can donate to our team if you can't make it to Warner Park on October 5th that's a Sunday
Just go to our website, WMDXradio.com and look for the banner that says, walk to N. Alzheimer's and help us out.
Our donations are coming in, but we still have a ways to go.
So make a donation if you can.
All right.
And coming up in about a half hour, it's our go for the green and gold contest.
We'll reveal the next keyword in that contest.
Super.
All right, the Web Wisdom edition of Idiocracy.
That's right.
Got a lot of web wisdom stored up here.
Ready to go.
We
do.
We do.
Um, let's see here.
Yeah.
What?
Is there an introduction or anything like that?
We're wisdom.
All right.
There.
Oh, I was trying
to wait for the time to say it.
Short and
sweet.
I was waiting for that to jump right in and worked a long time on that.
Yeah.
It's going to be
a little
longer.
Well, he had some help.
All right.
Okay.
All right.
You know, I learned a lot from my kids.
We, uh, we get into discussions and those discussions last sometimes for a couple of hours, which isn't good at bedtime.
Sometimes I stay up really late, but we have good discussions and, uh, they tell me what's going on, you know, on the internets on the big tubes.
And there's one person that they used to watch a long time ago.
They have since.
abandoned him, but his name is Destiny.
He's a podcaster out there, left wing, but this is an odd guy.
Anyway, he has done what Charlie Kirk has done.
He's gone out and he's talked to students.
And this is him in front of a group of college students taking questions.
And I thought what he said was very appropriate and smart.
Let's listen.
How do we just have formed that peaceful dialogue?
How do we get through this?
I mean, nobody likes the answer, but I mean, like the right has to be willing to take accountability for things and to like all political balance across the spectrum.
Nobody we've been doing that though.
That has been doing that for the past
decade.
It's
not, you can't, it's, the both sides thing just doesn't work anymore.
It's like a boat rowing with one paddle, like the left can row harder and harder, but we're still gonna go around in circles, until the right is willing to actually come out and say, hey, everybody, including us, everybody needs to tone it down.
I'm not even saying it to save themselves personally.
Like everybody has to do it.
Donald Trump cannot condemn violence in this country without also talking about the radical left in Joe Biden.
He can't do it.
I agree.
I wish you would stop that rhetoric.
The reality is like when,
When there was supposedly a threat from Iran to assassinate Trump, Biden increased his secret service detail.
After the assassination attempt against Trump, which was by a registered Republican, Joe Biden didn't make it political.
You know, he had a lot of even more security to Donald Trump, and he told everybody in the United States they needed to calm down.
After this last shooting happened with Charlie Kirk in like 12 hours, the right wing had spun up, including Donald Trump and J.D.
Vance and Nancy Mace and Stephen Crowder and Matt Walsh and every other alternative you don't like had spun up an entire conspiracy theory about who the guy was, but we knew anything about it.
Both sides are not equal here.
That
is
Destiny, a podcaster.
And I think he was right on.
There was just a flood of information out there on X. You couldn't avoid the right wing media fix in all of this.
It was just outrageous.
And in fact, that's our next.
It's actually an anti-web wisdom.
All right.
Here's the audio of an animated piece of propaganda from the mega AI abusers that is part of the final push to capitalize on all that turmoil left by Charlie Kirk.
It's projection, of course.
encouraging bad actors from the megaculture commit violence capitalism is on the line folks a system that forces Americans to live paycheck to paycheck minimum wages of $7.25 an hour to be homeless to die preventable deaths a shift from your wealth to the upper wealth
That's what it's all about.
That's capitalism.
If you like that, well, you're going to love this.
So let's listen to Cut 187.
The left devours itself.
In a stunning act of political desperation, New York Governor Kathy Hochul endorsed socialists Zoran Mamdani for mayor, trying to stop the bleeding within her fractured party.
The response, a public and utter humiliation.
Mamdani's blatant refusal to return the support was not just a snub, it was a power move.
A declaration that the old guard is irrelevant and that the socialists are now in command.
The radical wing, emboldened by a climate where political violence is excused and even celebrated, is taking power by storm.
Socialism has become the dominant ideology among their voters, while capitalism is seen as the enemy.
They nurtured the monster of radicalism, and now the monster devours them from within.
This internal rot sets the stage for a spectacular failure in the general election, which will be their funeral.
The right is grateful, watching as their opponents self-destruct.
there you go wow so uh yeah the democrats are bound to lose the next election keep telling yourself that wow
okay
you know this you know it's late stage capitalism whatever you want to call it obviously you know living paycheck to paycheck and then of course after this year we're gonna all lose our health insurance
because we
won't be able to afford it on the affordable care act on obama care
the marketplace.
That's all going to happen.
And right now, the right wing is repeating over and over and over again what the Democrats aren't doing.
They don't want to pass any kind of bill, any kind of bill, until they get the Republicans to agree to continue the tax credits for the Affordable Care Act, which makes the premiums each month
affordable for every American in this country.
Instead, what they're saying is that this effort by the Democrats really wants to give healthcare to immigrants, illegal immigrants.
I have no idea how they stretched it to that point, but that's what they're saying.
They're not saying anything else.
It's actually us.
It's the American public that will be losing out because we'll be losing those tax credits, okay?
And I'm...
soapbox again.
I'm big on health care, you know, this is the whole thing here.
And there's a government shutdown looming and showdown on that before too long.
We have Mark
on the line here.
Let's go to Mark right away.
Let's see what he's got for us.
Good morning, Mark.
Good morning from Mondami.
I thought, you know, they were complaining about him taking over the grocery stores or something like that.
But I thought he just proposed that at
in these places where there's food deserts where there's not a grocery store available to the population there he wanted the government to step in and actually build some or actually you know establish some grocery store so people are actually able to have access to food um... yeah maybe i got that wrong but that's what i remember you know it's hearing from him i haven't been paying close enough attention perhaps but uh... that's the kind of socialism that uh... he is proposing that when they when they
private sector isn't providing for that the government has a responsibility as jesus pointed out what matthew twenty five thirty one to forty six we actually have a responsibility to our fellow man and that uh... that's what it should be about because capitalism hasn't served you know that it serves in some cases but doesn't serve well in other cases and that's all they're saying so yeah freak out over that is uh...
It's outrageous.
The only thing I will suggest to Mondani is that I wish he would stop saying it's free.
A lot of these services, it's not free, it's paid by taxpayers.
So stop saying the free stuff.
But it's taxpayers all pulling together to lower the prices of all of these services that he wants to provide in New York.
All right, let's go on to Joe.
Joe, what have you got for us?
I appreciate the fact that you're talking about health care yet again and do remember that our president just announced yet again that he's going to deal with pharmaceutical prices by they're going to drop by fifteen hundred percent which as we know as we know means that if you pay a hundred dollars for your drug that you're going to get
fourteen hundred back from the government one of them and i know when you're talking about with them i did want to uh... echo thanks remarks calling as always and i did want to echo thanks to charles for uh... from the walkie yesterday for the words he said about your conversation with cj and i think that there was some wisdom in great wisdom in what you did in that instead of trying to reason cj out of his weird
thing that he's got going that instead you said to him specifically give me one specific example and he couldn't do it.
And he's got this miasma, the sea around him of unhappiness and resentment and anger toward liberal and progressive people, but he couldn't name one thing that was bothering him.
And I think it's a really important point.
There was, you know, I really try to have a specific example like this, this pharmaceutical example.
CJ could look at that to sort of say, what is it?
Is there one thing that is bothering you?
And then we could parse that out.
But instead, when you just have this bad sea of, you people, and it doesn't help at all.
So I agree that what you're challenged to say, give me one specific example, was really, really helpful.
And it's helpful for me too, because I'm going to start to do that more concretely by saying,
One specific example.
I think Donald Trump is a moron.
I think his example of saying that he's going to drop pharmaceutical prices by 1,500% is my evidence.
Yes.
All
right.
Thanks, Joe.
Thank you
for
that.
Yeah, that was well said.
And adding to the drug prices is something new
from
Trump today.
What?
100% tariff on all brand name drugs.
coming into this country unless they'll lift the tariff.
if those drug companies produce those drugs in the United States.
So
until
then, the brand name drugs, 100% tariff on all of them, tell me that's not gonna raise the price of those drugs.
And by the way, that does not apply to generics, which I think owns about 80 or 90% of the market.
So again, not all drug prices will go up, but brand names, if you need one of those, 100% tariff unless they're manufacturing them in the United States.
Wow.
Yeah.
He doesn't care if the prices go up for us.
You know, he really, he really doesn't care.
It's an adjustment.
We'll all have to deal with it until all of his policies fall into place.
Until then, of course, we're going to go broke and we're going to be homeless.
I don't know how anybody can allow something like this to happen, like CJ or my mega friend in Milwaukee, how they can sit by and let this stuff happen.
But I don't think they're paying attention to this or maybe.
My mega friend in Milwaukee is probably the person I'm talking to at this point.
I think CJ is a little bit more understanding.
He understands a lot of the different issues that are out there in a different way than I do.
But, you know, my mega friend does not pay attention.
He's sidetracked by all of the crazy stuff the Magus throw out there as you red meat, you know, chum.
Yeah, that's it.
It's just, you know, it's a waste of time.
And he likes
wasting his time on all this small stuff.
Yeah.
Phone lines are open again, 608-879-8255.
If you want to jump in on the conversation, we're coming right back with John and Gordy on WMDX.
WMDX
John and Gordy in the morning 92.7 You know this is a special edition a web
wisdom edition of Idiocracy this morning.
We'll get to more of that.
I just want to mention here, we heard something on drug prices and we also heard that the ACA is certainly going to go up.
as far as prices are concerned because the tax credits won't be continued.
I just want to pass along this.
This is a tweet.
President Trump says he will not cave to Chuck Schumer's demands of $1 trillion for transgender surgeries for minors and health care for illegals.
That is how they're packaging the tax credits we're getting on the Affordable Care Act.
That's their excuse, which is an empty excuse.
It's not happening.
So just keep that in mind.
Just a red flag.
I just wanted to present out there in case you read all of this stuff from the right wing that actually come out with the exact same line over and over and over again.
It's not.
It's a tax credits for the ACA and a lot of people will be losing their health care, including my family.
Oh, man.
Yeah tough
times
ahead.
Yeah,
no doubt
Okay, okay and Okay, let's let's continue with web wisdoms here.
All right.
Now.
This is a couple talking to another couple a lefty couple and a righty couple and The lefty couple is saying hey, this is the question Yes, is Trump overreaching With what he's doing
his
agenda
Is it overreach or not?
And I just want to play this for you.
This is their response to it.
It's
frustrating.
Imagine you were a soyboy liberal for one second.
Can you empathize with my point of view?
I know it hurts.
Empathize, when I see the president of the United States in an unprecedented way, putting his thumb on the scale, trying to attack universities, law firms, the media for sure.
You can't deny he attacks the media.
He doesn't he sued multiple like ABC recently?
NPR.
All of these different lawsuits.
Does that not worry you that it's executive overreach?
Can you see where we're coming from?
For suing people?
No, not just suing people but using the executive branch to place pressure on universities and law firms and media.
Do I see that as a problem not necessarily?
Why not?
Because I think if he's fighting for things that need to be done then...
What if we replace the word Trump with Biden?
Yeah, if this was a liberal
administration, you'd be like, this is horrible!
Oh my God!
Well, like I said, sometimes it can be good and sometimes it can be bad.
Okay, so it's only good when it's people you agree with.
Got it.
Well, putting your thumb on the scale to influence the country is kind of what politicians and the president did.
Oh, that's not the idea.
That's not how that works.
Okay, so
there exists something called checks and balances.
Oftentimes courts or law firms or all of these things exist as a check on the executive branch.
What Trump is doing is intentionally eroding
all of these checks by attacking the courts, even Supreme Court Justice Alito had to come out recently and say, Trump, you gotta stop calling to impeach judges.
It's not the place of the president to call to impeach judges without due process.
So we can go across the board with like courts, universities, everything, and Trump is always applying pressure in a way that he shouldn't be, not as the president, not going through Congress and passing some law, and...
I just wonder if you can empathize with my point of view there.
I just think that he's doing the will of the American people, and I love to see it.
Wow, what a politician answer.
What a politician answer.
You're like Vivek Ramoswami, bro.
Oh, don't compare me to that.
Okay, fine.
JD Vance.
All right.
So, you know, the thing here, and you'll notice that the guy on the left had to present, like, example after example after example.
Right?
Yeah.
The other guy.
No, I just think he's doing what the people voted him to do.
Thanks for that answer, I think.
He brought up a name I hadn't heard in a while, Ramaswamy.
Whatever happened to him?
Ramaswamy.
I don't know.
Probably went on to some major corporation as a CEO.
Like Ryan Walters.
We've got Charles on the phone.
Good morning, Charles.
Go ahead.
Hey, good morning, guys.
I haven't heard any of Trump supporters complaining about them trying to negotiate a $20 billion swap line to help the president in Argentina win the race.
He's not doing that well there.
Their economy is horrible.
So we're planning to spend $20 billion to help
This president in Argentina win.
I didn't know that he ran on that.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know if we voted for that helping
out here Yeah, I hear anything about that 20 billion dollars To help this guy win in Argentina because the economy is not doing that great and they want this guy to stay in office
I'm sure he's working for the American people in in that
in that effort.
I don't know, we're losing a place for the homeless to live here in Madison, but he's helping Argentina.
I know, I know.
$20 billion.
I won't mention anybody's name, but I wonder when he, when he called into the show, will he say that that's a disgrace and we should not be doing that or is that okay because it's his guy, Trump that's doing it.
Yeah.
Yeah, very good point, Charles.
And, you know, Bob in Oklahoma, Texas, he said, don't worry, CJ, we'll be calling the day after you challenged him.
Maybe he has found something to complain about when it comes to education.
Remember during COVID, the parents finally saw what the kids were learning in school and they hated it.
They just hated it.
And we're trying to find out what it was that they disagreed with.
There weren't any answers.
Let's go to one more.
I think we have time for here.
I'm squeezing them very quickly.
Oh, no, we actually don't.
All right.
Well, let's hold on to that.
All right.
We got so much more coming up.
We got news also straight ahead.
And then we'll be talking with Savannah Tomey Olsen about what's happening here locally around our area.
Rocker with a maxing preview later in our seven o'clock hour and more of your phone calls and texts.
And of course.
We'll give you the latest on the go for the green and gold contest.
The key word is right around the corner.
It's all coming up right here.
John Peterson, Gordy Young along with Dom Lee and you will be back with more on WMDX.
Good morning, Madison.
You're listening to 92.7 WMDX.
It's time for the John and Gordy morning
show.
Okay.
Take another sip of wine and you're okay.
Drink early in the morning.
That's what we say here.
Why not?
Why not?
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Right.
Good morning.
Yes, John.
It's a beautiful day and a
nice sunny out there.
Clear skies and it's going to be beautiful all day.
Long highs near 78 right now, 57 degrees.
And in just a moment, we're going to talk to Savannah Tome Olsen.
But first, let me tell you what the keyword is for this morning.
That's right.
It's time to go for the green and gold.
It's our text to win multi-state contest.
Your chance to win a piece of gold jewelry and $200 cash plus every single entry puts you into the grand prize drawing for a pair of indoor club level tickets to the Green Bay versus Minnesota game.
That's coming up in November.
And all you need to do is download the Civic Media app if you haven't already done that.
You can download that and then go to WMDX, use the text button and use the keyword to get into this contest.
The keyword this hour is prize, P-R-I-Z-E, prize, okay?

Gives you more entries into the contest.
Isn't that the way it works now?
He's shaking
his head.
That's the way it works.
You know it.
You got it.
All right.
So again, the key word this hour is prize.
P-R-I-Z-E.
There'll be other key words throughout the day.
More chances for you to win.
during the 9 a.m.
hour, 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m.
Good luck to you.
You can get all the rules at civicmedia.us slash contest.
Yes, yes, it's a
six volume set.
That's right.
If you want
to get those rules,
six volumes.
You should go through them over and over again.
You can look through them, decipher everything about the contest, how it works, man.
What we, okay.
Over to you, John Peterson.
Oh,
wait.
Savannah told me oh, yes with that.
Yes.
Yes.
What wisdoms come up in just a moment, but first Savannah, what do you got for us today?
Good morning, Savannah.
Good morning.
Well, we talked about it last week, but today is the day where all the residents have to leave Dairy Drive so the city can start demolishing things there.
There was that really emotional hearing last week when they kind of had that.
will marry to try to save it or at least extend it until the springtime.
And I just listened to that again yesterday.
And I mean, it just kind of puts a pit in your stomach, you
know,
there's one person who came up and said, I'm sure lots of you voting on this or listening or going home to your warm beds and a kitchen, you know, and it's,
it's just
rough to try to
watch people figure out where they're going to go from here.
The team at Madison Street Medicine is in charge of all that though.
And, you know, they have so much trust with the people who live there on Dairy Drive.
The next step is finding where everybody can go.
Well, the question I had is, this was temporary, right?
I mean, temporary quarters for these individuals.
Was there high turnover or did they find a home there and they were kind of planted there?
for a long period of time.
I mean, it sounds like the woman that you interviewed and that every time I hear it in my eyes well up listening to that, she's doing it for her son.
Is it something that they can stay there a long period of time for?
Or, I mean, if this had gone on, could they
have
stayed there?
Yeah, I listened to one man named Kenneth Shapiro who had been there since 2021.
Not long after it opened.
And he talked a lot about how they were building relationships among each other there and trying to ensure that it was a safe community
for
everybody because then there started to be more people who were camping nearby Dairy Drive because they had community with the people who lived in the tiny home shelters
there.
They really started to build something together and there were people who even suggested like, you know, can we plant some sort of community garden and then that way we can contribute to food banks in the area and you know, they really wanted to find some sort of solution.
But the city has lots of other priorities and that includes the shelter at Bartalon Drive that they'll be opening in the springtime.
So just keep moving them all over the place.
I can't wrap my head around this.
So this all failed by one vote.
And then there was a charity that stepped up that was willing to donate some money to at least extend it for a few more months till these folks could find other places to live.
I don't understand this.
It just boggles them up.
That's right.
I mean, they find out that they're not going to be staying there.
And all of a sudden they're just supposed to have plans.
These are homeless people.
Right.
You know, quite have a lot of plans.
Yeah.
Well, that was something that Brenda Conkel, who's the executive director of Madison street medicine, talked about a lot.
She talked about they can't, they don't know what day it is because they're busy thinking about how they're going to get their next meal and where they're going to sleep.
That's it.
And so the idea of trying to figure out what to do next is really in the hands of the people at Madison Street Medicine who kind of have to lead that charge for them.
So what's going on at Dairy Drive that they have to move this out?
What's happening there?
On Dairy Drive?
Yeah.
Is there anything
going in there?
Is there some reason we have to get rid of them?
You move these homeless people away.
It's because all the federal funding ended and so it costs about a million dollars a year to run Okay, and so the all the federal funding that all came from pandemic money from ARPA funds Yeah, and all that money ran out So the idea was and the structures also were not built to be Built to be permanent.
So a
lot of them started having some issues there, too But they're also really switching their focus to
the Bartelon Drive shelter now that that is getting closer to being up and running.
All right.
Anything else in the news quickly?
You want to touch on Savannah?
That's about it.
Okay, that's
plenty more than that's more than that's right.
Yeah.
All
right.
Well, thanks for that report and and bringing that to everybody's attention.
Yes, we appreciate
it.
Yeah.
All right.
Thanks, Savannah.
Talk to you next week.
That's Sabanatome Olsen
from WMDX News.
Incredible story,
just incredible.
You think the
state would just step in?
Yeah, the state or the county or... This is what they're
supposed to do.
I don't
get it at all.
Yeah, but they...
Always blame spending.
Well, we're not going to spend money.
We can't spend money.
You know, that's the government.
You know, I would just like to draw the line and the sand as as the public.
I don't know how we would do that.
But we'll take away your health care until you give us health care.
We're paying for your health care.
Right.
But you're keeping health care away from us or making it more expensive.
We want to take it away from you until you give us the same thing you have.
Seriously.
Why don't we have that kind of power?
We're... I don't get it at all.
We're helpless
to our own politicians, the people that represent us.
That's
driving me crazy.
Well, and I read that it's going to cost like $280,000 to tear down dairy.
Oh, yeah.
To tear down... That's right.
Maybe that could have gone toward repairing them and, you know, extending it.
But, well, I guess it's got to go.
Got to
go.
All right.
All right.
Let's go on to the next web wisdom.
All
right, this
is interesting.
You heard about the $100,000 H1B Visa price tag, right?
Well, there might be some downsides to that as well.
And this is cut 189.
Let's listen to Anton Martel, a web wisdom.
So Trump over the weekend implemented a $100,000 H1B Visa fee, which typically there was no fee for going through this H1B Visa application.
And the reason why Jeff Bezos is pissed is because they employ more than 14,000 H1B visa holders.
Way more than Microsoft, Meta, and Google, which all had around 4,000 employees with an H1B visa.
Azos and other CEOs in America are also pissed because this means the talent pool may not come to America anymore.
We might have the best developers, the best employees in the world that are amazing at their craft go to other countries.
And other countries are taking advantage of this and they're doing marketing campaigns saying, come work in X country.
Instead of going to America, come work in our country and you don't have to pay this super hefty fee.
What do you think about this?
Do you think this is going to be good for the country or bad for the country?
Well, I'm guessing probably bad, given those reasons.
But again, a web wisdom,
a lot of good stuff out there.
You
know,
people are putting good thoughts out.
Let's go to the phone lines right now.
We've got Dick on the line.
Dick, what do you got for us this morning?
Good morning, Dick.
Subject.
Call me what I said yesterday.
I'll stand behind.
if anybody should have an axe to grind with him, it would be Hillary Clinton for, you know, kind of dropping that 12 days before the election.
But what do you guys think of this situation?
I think we've crossed into
I was
thinking about it too, because now, you know, coming was the big villain, you know, took down Hillary Clinton, essentially.
And now we're sitting here thinking he's going to be the big hero, depending himself against something that is just cooked up by the Trump administration.
Amazing stuff.
Just a reversal of everything we ever thought could happen in this life.
Right?
Well, and his description of Comey was more of himself.
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
And
I don't know how the
grand jury decided, you know, to continue this thing.
It just doesn't seem to
make
any sense to me
at all.
That one's totaled beyond me.
Yeah.
I mean, this whole last nine months is, but this is so out of bounds.
It's, I don't know.
I know.
It's good.
Have a good weekend.
All right, Dick.
Thank you.
It doesn't
make any sense at all, does it?
Uh, anyway.
Um, hey, I got something here.
I think this is, uh, something we can get in.
Uh, what are the terror?
What kind of effect are the tariffs having, uh, on Wisconsin's ag business?
Let's go to cut 202.
Uh, by the way, Pam Yankee is included in this clip.
So let's listen to it.
Okay.
What we're looking for is more, um, predictability and transparency so that we know cause.
the changes that keep happening, it impacts pricing and planning, and no one really likes that.
My
hope and dream is that the Supreme Court supports the International Trade Court in striking down those tariffs that are imposed under the International Economic Emergencies Act.
And that doesn't mean that all the tariffs go away.
Section 232 and 301 tariffs, they're still there.
Those are not struck down if the Supreme Court supports the appellate court.
But that would at least take away a lot of uncertainty and I think uncertainty is a lot of what's slowing down the economy on top of the higher input costs There'll still be uncertainty because you know there's still policies that kept on being thrown at us no immigration Other trade policies foreign direct investment snafus like you know rating
a
Hyundai plant so even with Getting rid of those terrorists.
We'd still be in I think a bad shape
some of the damage has already been done you can
retract the tariffs, put a sunshine face on everything, the damage has been done.
And, you know, I started at the outset with soybeans in China.
Well, everything can change overnight with the sign of a pen.
That doesn't mean it's going to change.
The damage has been done in many regards as far as the agricultural commodities.
I'm going to dream that the three branches of government all start to do their job the way they were intended to do them.
so that we don't have people constantly crossing the lines on what the original founders intended.
And that will end up with better policies, better ideas, and more stability overall.
And the second thing, I'm...
dreaming about and I think is coming about is that people realize just the critical importance of manufacturing to the base of the economy so that we can innovate, so that we can make things and so that we can build prosperity for everybody in the economy.
And administration, by the way, is trying to come up with some money for farmers to keep them in business.
Nineteen
past, we're coming back with more of John and Gordy for a Friday morning after this.
John Gordy in the morning, WMDX 92.7, who's got more coming up here.
In fact, we've got Stephen Miller, the executive order to clean out the left.
Take him out of this country.
That's right.
Yeah, we'll have that moment.
23 past the hour.
Brittany is off today.
Weather-wise, no.
problems here high near 78 today.
Lots of sunshine right now 58 degrees.
And want to remind you the key word this hour for the go for the green and gold contest is prize.
P R I Z E that gets you in for a chance to win a piece of gold jewelry and $200 cash plus every entry puts you into the grand prize drawing for that pair of indoor club level tickets to the Green Bay versus Minnesota game coming up in November.
and when you enter the contest, you'll get a text back.
Be sure to click on that if you want to subscribe to a newsletter or podcast or under Civic Media today.
And that gets you more chances to win.
So check it out again.
Key word this hour is prize.
Okay.
And if you want to get the John and Gordy rules book, we have four volumes of it and we could send them out to you.
If you're interested or just go to
civicmedia.us slash contest.
All right, let's go to the phone lines.
We have CJ who's finally come up with something to say about schools, I believe.
Is that correct CJ or?
Good morning.
Well, all we need is the test scores, don't we?
No.
Well,
yeah, I guess so.
Oklahoma is the last in the nation.
So I guess you're right.
If we look at conservative politics in schools, in education, last place.
Okay, CJ.
All
right.
Well,
tell me what you wanted to talk about today.
No, go ahead.
Go ahead.
Go ahead.
Well, I want to respond to the James Comey thing.
Yes, the truth
come us.
Yes
This is a beautiful thing because we're gonna find out the truth finally but You know he but I do want to say I was listening earlier to the so-called gotcha a moment from one of your previous callers
Yes,
all how many genders are there?
You know, I am no, you know, I can't, I, yeah, I'm going to say this CJ.
No, I know I'm, I
am,
I'm going to say, I'm just going to say this about this gender question that you guys always drop on lefties.
Stop it.
It's really not a smart question.
It
really makes you look dumb.
No, no, it really does.
It makes you look really dumb if you ask a question.
How many genders are there?
I mean, really seriously, stop it.
Just stop it, okay?
Because it doesn't answer any questions at all.
That's what I'm
saying.
That's a good question, isn't it?
No, it isn't actually a good question.
No, because there's nuances to it.
I'm sorry.
There are nuances.
Well, as far as James Comey goes, he lied to the FISA court.
That'll be determined
three times.
You know, that's very important.
He knew that it was a lie.
He lied under oath.
He passed on information.
He was the leaker that authorized it.
Okay, so the truth cometh, there's gonna be a lot of them and this is a great thing because our history books are gonna tell the truth about
what Hillary Clinton did.
The new Trump version of history?
They all knew it.
But here's the thing CJ, you are gonna be preoccupied with something from long ago while the country is just burning in front of you.
Look,
I'd love to keep no
the truth.
I gotta keep I
want to know the truth that he lied Okay, you know you talked about I
got
that the election we had President Obama and Hillary Clinton
Okay
involved in lying to the American people for two and a half years.
All
right
We'll
have further discussions on that.
I want to move on to Stephen Miller because Stephen Miller, his comment is so outrageous and so ridiculous and they're going after the left terrorist organizations.
Let's just play the cut.
This is Stephen Miller handing an executive order for Trump to sign in order to go after these left-wing organizations.
This is the first time in American history that there is an all-of-government effort to dismantle left-wing terrorism, to dismantle ANTIFA, to dismantle the organizations that have been carrying out these acts of political violence and terrorism.
What we have seen, if you look at whether it be going back to the riots that started with Black Lives Matter and all the way through to the ANTIFA riots, the attacks on ICE officers, the doxing campaigns, and now the political assassinations,
These are not lone, isolated events.
This is part of an organized campaign of radical left terrorism.
It is structured, it is sophisticated, it is well funded, it is well planned.
There is really no parallel like this to anything else in the country right now.
There is an entire system of feeder organizations that provide money, resources, weapons, and when they're attacking ICE officers, they're attacking federal buildings where they're isolating public officials for harassment, doxing, intimidation, and ultimately attempted assassination, it is all carefully planned, executed, and thought through.
It is terrorism on our soil because of this executive order.
Cash and PAM are going to have the tools they need working with Scott to take these organizations apart piece by piece.
And the central hub of that effort is going to be the Joint Terrorism Task Force or JTTF, which sits inside the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
But for those at home who are worried about terrorism, this comes in to understand because of President Trump's strength, because of his vision, because of his leadership, we are now going to use the entire force of the federal government to uproot these organizations, root and branch.
And again, it's only possible because of President Trump and his leadership.
Now,
are you wondering
What organization?
This is the first anyone has ever heard of some kind of left-wing organization doing such things.
This is insanity.
What they have created, the Trump White House has created, is the ultimate super villain that Democrats may never be able to shake off because they've got three and a half years to beat this drum.
Okay.
I
know.
We'll leave the politics to the side here.
Is it
something else?
No, it leaves me speechless.
Stephen Miller.
Stephen Miller, man.
He's a real piece of work.
OK, 29 past the hour.
We're going to set some politics aside and make room for a Maxing preview with Rocker right around the corner on WMDX.
And he's here in studio with us.
Yes, John and Gordy in the morning.
WMDX weather today.
No problem highs in the upper 70s.
Beautiful weekend ahead of us.
And that weekend includes the Maxink preview every Saturday night right here.
Good morning, Rocker.
What's happening, guys?
Oh, let's turn your mic up
here.
What's happening, guys?
There we go.
Sorry.
That was my bad.
I seem a little overdriven there.
Oh, let
me.
Back
it
up a little bit.
OK.
Oh, testing.
Uh-oh.
So let's start it.
What's wrong with that mic?
What's going on with this mic?
We've got another mic over there.
Can we do that?
All right.
Rocker is now going to move to the other side.
He's moving the other side of the screen.
No, I should.
Should we bring that over there?
Oh,
we can't.
I don't know.
Let's see.
Let's try, you know, while you're doing that, let me just say that you could win your dinner from WMDX and Sugar River Pizza.
Yes.
How about winning a $50 gift card?
Yes.

Microphone problems.
We love them.

This week we have Terry Talbot, he's the owner of a local photography studio over on Atwood Avenue.
He's been in the music scene since the early 70s shooting photos.
He's gonna have some great stories.
The Central, their new kind of grindcore band with Frank Farillo will be talking to him and live from the Mad City with Shaqari Dazeir.
It's gonna be some really awesome singing.
great vocalist.
And let's get through what's going on for some things.
We'll talk about, you know, tonight going on Bree Stevens Field, the bodega 2025.
That's over on East Washington Avenue.
The bodega series is returning to Madison ninth year.
It's a nighttime local artisan market.
So make sure you go there.
Tonight there's so much happening in Madison.
It's amazing, but let's get into some music tonight the electric spanking September 26th 6 to 9 p.m.
They're at the up north bar there, of course the spin-off of groovulous glove and Baghdad scuba review Totally fun jambam.
Let's check it out.
This is whether or not the electric
spanking
See a shade tree within of my heart.
Take off your shirt.
Why'd
it catch a hook right there?
Yeah, aren't they fun?
Yeah.
The electric spanking tonight.
That's up the up north bar over on the east side.
And tonight and tomorrow night, there's a couple of things going on, September 25th and 26th over at the Memorial Union, celebrate the German tradition of Oktoberfest, specialty beers, dishes, entertainment.
The two day event features schnitzel, curly worst, spetzel, pretzels, polka lessons in
live music,
Stein decorating crafts and competitions.
It's going to be a crazy weekend there because one of the bands that they're having on Friday and Saturday is going to be the Madison Tuba Band.
Oh, they'll be playing the Memorial Union Terrace Friday, September 26 and Saturday, the 27th.
Both days are playing from three to six p.m.
So have a beer and cheer and act to buffest.
To
buffest.
Sounds great.
And you know, you guys, if you want to hang out with me tonight, I am going to the Memorial Union rocked over fast.
And tonight is Horace Green and Horace Green.
They're from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the water city with the name Horace Green.
They chose it because it's time.
like an old man's name that the band could imbue with meaning.
But it's kind of like Jethro Tull, right?
There
is no actual horror screen.
Friday, September 26, 7 to 10 p.m.
That is tonight, okay?
And I'm gonna go hang out with them and then guess what?
They're here right here in the studio, the whole full band, October 4th, Max Inc Radio, live from the Mad City, 8 to 9 p.m.
They're going to do this kind of stripped down acoustic slinky version.
But right now, let's check out their brand new song.
This is Horace Green.
This goes out to my wife because it's our favorite band.
This is
Cream.
Yourself
That's a
great guitar hook.
Oh, man.
Really good.
They are awesome, aren't they?
Oh, they're so fun.
You know, I brought them to Adwood Festival two years ago, and all of a sudden they put out this new album, and we started really playing a lot on Maxing Gradio.
It's been getting a great response, and they're just a great band.
Tonight at the Memorial Union, we're going to be hanging out at the terrace, so come on down.
Should be a good evening for that.
Wow.
Oh, it is going to be perfect tonight.
There's more stuff going on.
There's so much in Madison.
Trapper Shep with Bear in the Woods at the Bur oak.
That's tonight Milwaukee singer songwriter.
He's got five albums.
The song that we're going to hear.
It's called Mr. President Have Pity on the Working Man.
This song was written as a plea to Richard Nixon, actually, to alleviate poverty during the 1970s recession, but it has renewed relevance during the pandemic and Trump's presidency.
It was written in 2020, right before the election.
Let's check this out.
Trapper Shep from Milwaukee.
This is Mr. President Have Pity on the Working Man.
Mr. President, have pity on the working man We ain't asking for you to love us You may place yourself high above us Mr. President
Well, that's something we're going to have to play on the program often.
Yeah, let's keep that one handy.
For one of our segments.
I'll get you the whole song because there's a lot of good pieces
to
it.
There is really good message in all of it.
By the way, there's another song, Dear Mr. President, and that was done by Pink.
So if you have a chance, check that out on the
internet.
Oh, that's right,
yeah.
It's a fantastic song.
Yeah, it was directed toward George W. Bush.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Back then, right?
Oh, those were the days, weren't they?
That was when there was great humor, right, with the president.
We could really have some good humor.
Bear in the forest.
Okay.
We just talked about trapper chef He's gonna bear in the woods, you know bear in the forest.
Yeah, I got it right.
I got a typo here Bear in the forest is the musical soul craft of man simply known as bear a wandering tuber door whose song shimmer with mysticism and memory He was born in New Orleans raised amongst the lake and seasons of Milwaukee and now he's rooted in Madison right here He weaves his story through melodic lyric and atmosphere.
He's a
a classically trained violinist and a choir horn vocalist self-taught guitarist.
This guy is incredible.
This was when he was on Live From the Mad City on Max Inc Radio back in July.
Go to Spotify to listen to his and 425 other interviews, search Max Inc Radio, find our podcast.
Here it is, Bear in the Forest, Live From the Mad City.
This is
Quimbera.
Sounded good.
It's incredible.
They were in here with a cello, a guitar, a little bit of percussion.
I mean, I can hear a really good band.
I can hear Brent and Wood singing that song.
Yeah.
Kind of reminded me of that.
What is the Quilimberra?
What is that?
Do you know what that means?
It's definitely in a different language, John, that I don't speak currently.
All right.
Just curious.
We're coming back with more of the Maxing Preview with Rocker along with John and Gordy.
Coming back after this, stay with
us.
WMDX 92.7 WMDX 92 points.
What is this music?
That's rockers.
It's
rockers
music.
Yeah, that's a parkies groove machine.
Okay, that's called double dip
We play that song all the time as a double dip.
So a double dip on Maxingradio is when we play two songs in a row by the same artist.
Okay.
Rocker is that
familiar to me?
I'm like, all of a sudden thinking, what am I
doing?
Right.
Rocker, you are here every Friday by
your
show every Saturday just for people that may have never tuned in before.
Maxingradio, 6 to 9 p.m.

And he's been putting out some new music this summer.
This is his solo stuff.
So while we won't play the 90s covers that he sings with Fufu Dolls, we will play his own music.
so that you can check it out.
Taylor Sherrick, smile.
This is from
2025.
Even if this darkness cries I'll still ignite some light inside Cause you don't have to fly
All right, great voice.
Wow.
Yeah.
Isn't he amazing?
I mean, every one of his songs is totally amazing.
When he came in here to the studio to play live from the man city, he brought his mom.
And so his mom was doing backing vocals.
It was just it was incredible.
Yeah.
Great.
Taylor Sherrick.
Of course, he sings with Foo Foo Dolls.
You can check him out this weekend.
That one guy.
Have you ever heard of him?
No.
You know that one guy?
That one guy.
That one guy, right?
That's how I always describe the
people that I see.
That one guy.
That one guy, remember?
Well, now on, it's going to take a...
a different meaning, right?
It's gonna actually be a band.
You're gonna be like that one guy.
You mean, oh, you mean that band?
Yeah, that one guy.
He's from Las Vegas, actually.
He plays here quite often over the past two decades.
So if you haven't heard of him, I'm not sure why.
But he's trained double-based player who attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and developed a career in progressive jazz in the 90s.
Now he performs as a one-man band, and he performs with the Magic Pipe.
The Magic Pipe is a seven-foot-tall collection of steel plumbing pipes and joints.
Its orchestral brass strings are attached to it, and then it feeds into electronics, so he can do all these crazy samples.
It's the most unbelievable thing you've ever actually seen.
But that's not all he has, right?
He has the Magic Boot.
What is the magic
boot?
The magic boot is a scorpion and blazing cowboy boot, which is wired and fed through the magic pipes, audio lines.
And then it's played as a percussive instrument by tapping the soul.
That's even the short answer.
Believe it or not, he was in the fabulous hedgehogs.
This guy's pretty crazy.
October 19th, he's going to be at the high noon saloon.
He's been garnering attention after the use of his song, but machine from his second album.
And the moon is disgusting, right?
The song is Butt Machine.
It was on Showtime's original comedy series, Weeds, in season three, episode nine.
And this is a bit of a throwback, but it's one of his more popular songs.
So I thought I'd play it for you guys.
It's really popular.
It's called Butt Machine.
This is that one
guy.
That is one guy.
That's fun.
One guy.
Yeah, sure is one guy.
And I mean, look him up on YouTube so that you can see the magic pipe.
He makes these instruments himself, right?
And it's just totally crazy.
He's a one man show, but he can really bring it.
The music video is hilarious.
It is hilarious.
That one guy will check it out.
But Machine.
And he's going to be at
High Noon Saloon October 19th.
October 19th.
So we got some time.
Maybe we'll find some other stuff and bring it in here and let people sample some more of that one guy.
And we're just down to a minute this weekend on Max Inc.
This weekend on
Max Inc Radio we have Terry Talbot, photography, and the Central and Live from the Mad City with Shakari Desire.
All right.
Rocker have a good weekend.
Thanks guys.
Appreciate it, man.
And coming up Monday, we'll be talking with UW Health Pediatrics Professor Jim Conway.
Also Pam Yankee will join us once again.
John, have a great weekend, huh?
All right.
You got big plans?
We can't wait.
No, no, no.
We finished the deck in a
ticket easy.
Don't have enough help to finish that
damn
stairway and deck.
Stephanie Miller's next.
You have a good weekend.
Talk to you Monday.
So long.
This is
the Johnny
Morty Show.
Swing it swing it swing
it right here on the John and Gordy morning show
It is 735, seeing a little bit of sunshine in between the clouds out there, a little bit of patchy fog, highs today in the upper 70s, maybe a couple of showers along the way.
Right
now 60 degrees.
Time for us to welcome in Libby and Kristen from the Vegan Fest that's coming up in Madison.
Good morning to both of you.
Good morning.
Thanks for having us.
Good to
have you with us.
We've heard so much about it over the many years.
I mean, this is Madison, Vegan Fest, you know, everybody goes out to it.
So what's on the calendar for Vegan Fest this year?
And that's by the way, going on October 4th from 11 a.m.
till 5 p.m.
at Lonnie Lake Park.
Okay, where is Lundy Lake
Park?
I don't know that one
Okay, okay,
all right,
it's beautiful.
So tell us what's happening this year What are some of the highlights that people can expect to see?
Yeah, we're really excited.
We'll have around 15 vegan food vendors some local Names you might recognize Salvatore's Mishki and they'll and then some
People will be welcoming in from Milwaukee and Chicago.
And they'll all be offering vegan options.
And all savory comfort foods, all the way to sweet treats.
So that's pretty exciting.
We'll also have approximately 35 exhibitors ranging from animal sanctuaries and other nonprofit organizations, all the way to shops and businesses who will be selling vegan goods.
We'll also have some live music and three inspiring speakers talking about very different topics with Q&As after to answer any questions you might have.
So it's just a really fun welcoming environment.
Whether you're vegan or not, there's something for everybody to enjoy.
Yeah, it's just a really fun day.
We definitely want to thank...
some sponsors.
Yeah.
Oh, sure.
You can do that.
Yes.
You know, we have amazing sponsors, specifically WMDX.
Oh.
Thank you for your support.
Sure.
You're
welcome.
And the quirky dove, two of our top sponsors who we just really wanted to thank for the support.
Well, it's fun because I'm looking at your website here.
It's MadisonVeganFest.org.
And you've got a little video and then splash screen.
And it's great.
You have all these tents and lines of people.
at these tents, what are they in line for?
What are some of the things that they can get at Beacon Fest?
I'd have to say the lines are probably majority for the food.
I mean, as Kristen mentioned, there's a lot of other things there, like exhibitors, crafts, animal sanctuary, stuff like that, but the food is a really big attraction for people.
Is it fried?
vegetables I mean that's the only way you know when you do these events like the taste of Madison everything has to be almost fried because it's the easiest way to cook things
very quickly
for a lot of people
right yeah yeah and I think funny that you mentioned fried vegetables I would say majority of it is not
vegetables.
You know, it's all plant-based.
Plant-based.
Oh, okay.
So we're seeing a lot of plant-based
replacement foods, right?
Yeah, exactly.
A lot of the comfort foods are going to be like tofu, seitan, other meat alternatives, stuff like that.
But yeah, I would say...
Honestly, as far as being fried or not, you might find some fried, some not.
Okay.
Pizza, Peruvian food.
Sure.
Baked.
Yeah, nachos, stuff like that.
Alright, and I stand corrected.
And some music too, right?
Yeah, correct, yes.
We have two musical acts who will be, I think...
plant a variety of different music.
So little something for everyone there.
The sixties way the group called the vegetables.
So that would have been very appropriate this time
around.
And tell us about these speakers.
Yeah.
So Michelle Stam is a plant based health coach and physical therapist.
So she'll be sharing how eating more plants, a plant based diet can be doable, delicious and fun and just making it realistic.
Madeline Krasno, used to work in a primate lab.
So she'll be talking about her experience there and how that sort of shaped her professional life and personal life.
And Erin Yermel is a philosopher and educator.
He'll be talking about how to have better conversations about veganism and having those conversations when people disagree.
We're talking with Libby and Kristen about the vegan fest coming up on October 4th.
Correct.
Is that right?
And so, is there any admission on this?
No, free.
Free.
Free, open to the public, bring the kids.
Yes, family friendly.
Yeah.
Yes.
Very good.
And it starts at what
time?
Yeah.
11
a.m.
Okay, anything for the kids like veggie tails or anything like
that?
We are going to have kind of a kids corner.
So there'll be bubbles, some coloring sheets.
I think we've got some temporary tattoos, maybe.
Things to keep them busy while you enjoy some good food and walk around and take a
look.
All right.
All right.
Well, thanks for coming in and telling us all about it.
And again, if people want to find out more, what's the website?
MadisonVeganFest.org.
Very good.
Thank you, Libby.
Thank you, Kristen.
And it's October 4th.
Again, WMDX Radio is a sponsor.
And so hoping for a good day there.
And it all takes place at Lundy Park.
Yep.
Lundy Lake Farm Park.
OK.
Very good.
Thanks.
You know, one of the things about, you know,
vegan food is that it influences a lot of people who still eat some meat.
You know, I mean, then you add more vegetables just, you know, from hearing about, you know, how positive it is to have a vegan diet.
So that's part of it,
right?
Yeah.
And I think we try to attract a lot of non vegans because I think there are perceptions out there about what
a vegan diet is, but you might be surprised.
All right.
If you try some
of the
food,
see if you'll like it.
Yeah.
Check it out.
All right.
Well, thank you both for coming in.
Thank you.
We appreciate it.
Again,
go
to MadisonVeganFest.org and get all the information you need.
We appreciate it.
Very good.
All right.
Okay.
Let's see, it is 741.
Want to remind you, you can go to wmdxradio.com and get more information about Vegan Fest there as well.
Okay.
All right.
Well, you know, I thought, you know, Kimmel's been in the news recently, of course, and he has done a number of
Features where he's put clips together historical clips that make a major point Yes, all right, and this is a major point about immigration.
I thought we'd play this I thought this was exceptional what it does is it features presidents from like 1950 and on and They're positive talk about immigration except for our current president
So let's listen to something Kim will put together a while back, all right?
Well, we'll stand by for that as Dominic apparently has left the studio for just a moment.
As soon as he gets back into the studio, he will push a button and we will be able to listen.
To cut 145.
145.
That's okay.
Take a break whenever you feel like it.
Sorry, I decided to go to the bathroom or something.
Just walk away.
Yeah, 155, right?
You even got 155?
Got it.
145.
145 is the gut I'm looking for.
All right.
Okay, here we go.
This is Kimmel.
I thought the idea was to make America great.
This is not great.
Try to act like a president for once.
And in case you don't know,
What that looks like maybe this will help because it looks like this.
We are one and all immigrants for the sons and daughters.
The
descendants of 40 million people who left other countries to make a new opportunity for themselves and their children.
The lamp of this grand old lady is brighter today and the golden door that she guards gleams more brilliantly in the light.
of an increased liberty for the people from all
countries.
I'm convinced that the vast majority of Americans today want these people to have another opportunity.
I was in the party to welcome generations of immigrants.
If we ever closed the door to new Americans, our leadership in the world would soon be lost.
Immigration is not just a link.
to America's past.
It's also a bridge to America's future.
This is one country.
We life our diversity.
We are proud of it.
Amid all the complications of policy, may we never forget that immigration is a blessing and a strength.
These people, our neighbors, our classmates, our friends, they did not come here in search of a free ride or an easy life.
It came to work.
We don't demonize immigrants.
We don't single them out for attacks.
We don't believe they're poisoning the blood of the country.
We're a nation of immigrants and that's why we're so damn strong.
They're eating the
dogs, the people that you met.
They're eating the cats.
They're eating, they're eating the pets.
It seems, it seems to me like Trump stands out out of all of those
presidents that we
heard.
Yeah, not for a good reason either.
And I oftentimes wonder why the news networks don't put collages like
that
together, back-to-back audio of history and the perspective at those times about immigration in this country.
I know it may sound like they're trying to push an agenda, right?
But
no, they're really not because those were the opinions of presidents in the past.
It has nothing to do with the networks themselves.
They can put these clips together, but they're not lying by putting the actual audio of these presidents together.
But, you know, that's immigration.
That was immigration before.
Immigration is a little bit different today.
Now, President Trump is rolling out the welcome mat for Russian oligarchs, according to Dick Durbin.
Right and cartel bosses with their own immigration gold card.
See now immigration has changed And Trump has put his own little spin on this today.
We are proud to announce this is Trump now the Trump gold card the card will be available for one million dollars But individuals do we have the clip there the one one million dollar clip?
Dr. Evil
Okay.
Let's play the Dr. Evil clip here.
It's perfect.
One million dollars.
Well, don't you think we should maybe ask for more than a million
dollars?
A million dollars isn't exactly a lot of money
these days.
Okay then.
One hundred billion dollars.
Okay, 100 billion okay from 1 million to 100 billion dollars.
Okay, so again, this is from truth social This is Trump today.
We are proud to announce the trump gold card the card will be available for 1 million dollars for individuals and 2 million dollars for corporations
For far too long we have had millions of illegal aliens pouring into our country and our immigration system has been broken.
It is beyond time that the American people and American taxpayers are benefiting from our legal immigration system.
We anticipate the Trump gold card will generate well over $100 billion.
There's the number that Dr. Evil came up with finally.
This money will be used for reducing taxes,
pro-growth projects and pained on our debt.
Buy the Trump gold card now.
So if you just happen to have a million dollars or if your corporation two million dollars, not a bad deal after all.
Why not?
When you think about it, you know?
It's a
good deal.
The Trump gold card.
Nice way to, uh, oh, I don't know, uh...
Laundrom... money?
Laundrom... laundrom... I can't say it.
Can I
say it?
Laundrom... the process of transferring money in not a good way.
748.
I want to say laundry, but... Catherine Lake has joined us in the studio.
We will find out why after this brief time out for lovely words from our beautiful sponsors.
What did we say this time?
I don't know.
With no more keys.
We're going
to elect a president.
No more
keys.
He's going to do what the people
want.
No more keys.
We're going to run things our way.
No more keys.
No one's going to tell us what to do.
Rockin' at a rolling station in a fashion over the horizon.
What can it be?
Looks like it's going to be a free country.
WMDX, 92.7.
John and Gordy in the morning.
Busted pencils guest, Dr. Tim
Slacker.
We've got clear skies out there 50 degrees highs and low 70s for today coming up in about 15 minutes.
We will reveal the next keyword in our go for the green and gold text to win contest.
So standby for your chance to get into win $200 cash and some gold jewelry and a chance to win the grand prize, which is a pair of indoor seats to the Green Bay and Minnesota game club level seats.
Okay, all that's coming up in about 15 minutes.
Back with Dr. Tim Slecker.
Breaking news.
Let's find out about another fantastic program,
Teaching Civics.
Teaching Civics.
Well, again, an announcement that the education department that
I don't know, we thought was on its way out
is
now going to be doling out millions of dollars to educators who are willing to take on the challenge of
instilling civic values and teaching patriotic education.
So there
is going to
be patriotic education grants.
And as Linda McMahon said, quote, it is imperative to promote an education system that teaches future generations honestly about America's founding principles, political institutions and rich history.
Wow.
End quote.
It's
something about face here.
I mean, they were getting rid of the education.
They were
out the
door.
What the
heck is going on?
They're out the door.
And, um, you know, there, there she is, but saying, Hey, maybe they're, we, maybe we should reconsider because we've got this program.
We, you know, what's, I can't disagree with her quote.
Um, you know, imperative with our education system promote.
future generations to honestly Look at America's founding principles political institutions
would be good
rich history like you go a one girl
You know Well, plus they've got all those American flags in the stock room there.
What are they gonna do with
those if they
shut down the building?
Let's get them out to the classroom.
That's right.
Come on.
But
just as long as it's honest history I mean, that's what we're looking
at.
Yeah, dig a little deeper though and you you see that
behind those words probably the catch word there is honest and honestly and honestly because when you read further it is you know a one-sided view of American greatness and
You know and people are concerned that there's actually the American Historical Association is quite frightened by by this approach because Well, it ain't history
When
went when you promote a story and put it forth as the truth, right?
And you know if you're going to do honest
Inquiry history education and and I will point this out too that left-wing propaganda America stinks America's going to poop and all of that that also is a propaganda story that
Doesn't need to be promoted either.
The fact is though is that when we get into teaching American history, you know conversations like this, that's what happens It's like well your side used to tell your story and now we want our story told and then oh You're out of power.
We want our story told again None of that is history and civics and patriotism that is
warring factions that continue to polarize and separate people into their teams.
Digging honestly would be a unifying approach to actually engaging in this content of civics and American history.
So this is not what they're promoting here.
This, again, is a promotion of
We want our side of our story
taught only.
We've got, we've got Mark on the line.
What do you got for us, Mark?
Well, you know, for American history, let's face it.
Look, it's ironic for Oklahoma, Oklahoma, which actually should be the Indian nations because it was actually supposed to be promised forever to be, you know, that, you know, that's where the Indians were, you know, relocated to is Oklahoma.
And then they'd said, well, we'll just convert this into a state.
So I mean that.
i think i think that history how that was just taken from the native americans they can talk about that part of the park toxic by the puretons because apparently the park toxic got killed some some uh... some kind of kind of prudent actually considered a criminal but these that is a pretext to start a war against the park toxic and they all started like four hundred of them your women and children included i think i thought what james met if you talk civics and talk about the in the constitution where james madison actually said
Hopefully he's pausing that he's hoping that slavery will actually disappear because it'll actually realize what a barbarous practice it actually is.
Are they going to teach that?
I doubt it because they don't want to admit that.
I mean, the fact of the matter is that we, you know, part of a good chunk of the wealth in this nation was created by land that was stolen from Native Americans and land and construction that was done by people that were enslaved and stolen from their homelands in Africa.
But they're not going to ignore the constitutional
convention.
They're going to ignore the debates about the Constitutional Convention, what was said there, both sides of it.
I mean, they won't teach that, though, to say, oh, America's great, and leave it at that.
Donald Trump is great.
Let's leave it at that.
Mark, listen.
I I totally know where you're going but here's the what what happens though when somebody like the american patriotism people
less than a minute
hear your story as saying see there's a woke indoctrinator trying to trying
to
make american history sound horrible and we can't permit that and i'm trying to say is going sides of telling this story is not the way to engage in empowering civic values
right we got to leave it there dr tim slecker thank you for joining us
you can always listen to Busted Pencils on the Civic Media
Radio
Network.
We at CGN the line will get you a next dollar.
Also our go for the green and gold contest right around the corner.
Back with more of John and Gordy after this.
WMDX.
John and Gordy in the morning in that music means one thing.
What does it mean, John?
It means that we're hearing from Jim Santel.
That's right.
Emicus Allaw Review, a program you can listen to on the weekend from 9 to 11 o'clock.
It's not enough time.
I know, Jim, but you know, you could use two or three more hours to go, but
Well, we'll work with it, and that's why we have you on.
At least cover some of the legal issues that we're dealing with today.
Yes.
But Gordy has
this.
Yes.
That music also means, of course, you're up way too early on a Saturday morning, listening to a promotion attorney drone on about lost stuff.
You should be cutting your grass, doing the laundry, taking the kids to the park and getting your car washed.
But even so, if you're doing one of those things,
Join us Saturday morning.
I think it's early enough Saturday morning where you are the excuse.
They don't have to go out and do that right away.
And we will talk with Jim in just a moment.
But first,
let me remind
you that it's contest time.
That's right.
Go for the green and gold text to win multi-state contest.
Your chance to win a piece of gold jewelry and $200 cash.
Plus every single entry puts you into the grand prize drawing for a pair of indoor club level tickets.
the Green Bay versus Minnesota game in November.
This hour's key word, and you have to get this into us on the Civic Media app before 8 a.m., the key word is fall, okay?
F-A-L-L, fall.
And again, this is a multi-state contest.
Every time you put it in an entry, by the way, you get a text response.
And in that text response, you have a chance to click on a link.
And by doing that, you can subscribe to our newsletter or any of the other things listed there, like follow us on Facebook or subscribe to a podcast or check out our new newsletter, Civic Media Today.
So do that and you'll get extra chances to get
more entries when you click on that link that you get sent after you do your initial entry.
OK.
All right.
All right.
Now it's time for former U.S.
Attorney Jim Santel and Jim.
Once again, good morning to you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
As always, delighted to be with you, gentlemen.
It's it's strange.
So weird to watch this fiasco unfold before us about former FBI director.
Call me.
You know, the thing is attorneys have looked at the case and they can't
Find anything to prosecute him for.
Is that correct, Jim?
That's the latest.
The latest, of course, is that they're saying we might attempt something in the
next
few hours or days, because one of the, again, spurious attempt to find something here is that he somehow lied when he was testifying before the Congress about the Mueller report and other things and investigations when he was the FBI director.
A couple of things about that.
One is, you know you're in trouble when you are rambling.
to get under the statute of limitations.
You're really looking then for something, right?
Right.
And second, again, I don't even want to entertain this seriously.
There's no perjury here.
Perjury, people think it's a really easy thing.
Well, Jim Santel lied about that.
It's one thing to talk about that over the lunch table.
It's another thing to prove in court beyond a reasonable doubt that you knowingly told someone something that you knew was false and you did it to a particular end.
Perjury cases are very difficult to prosecute, and prosecutors know this.
That's not to say that Jim Comey perjured himself, but just that they're going down a road here that is fraught with danger.
If they do do something here, it might be in the news the next couple of days here.
Also wonder out loud what grand jury would look at this information, whatever it might be.
and say, yes, indeed, there's a crime here.
Many, many problems with this idea.
Yeah, it's falling apart already, but they do want to get in.
What is that timeline that they're working under?
Just a few more days,
right?
Yeah, exactly.
It's a five-year statute of limitations.
The whole idea behind his tattoo is, again, from the time that he, depending upon which particular unfounded criminal allegation
you want to seize upon.
You want to go with mortgage fraud, which is another one that they're alleging everybody is done.
You look at the date of your alleged offense conduct, you add five years to it.
There are some federal charges that have 10-year statutes of limitations, but that's basically it.
So you look at the
date and you say what is five years from that day.
You got to get it under the wire, or the case is dismissed.
You have violated the statute of limitations.
And for that reason, the case cannot go forward.
So that's the reason why it might be news sometime soon.
If they can find a grand jury to indict on something, whatever that would be, let's listen to, see what Pam Bondi tells us all about this.
Nothing there.
And again, just an attempt.
This is taking out the legal sphere.
This is Donald Trump's two things.
One is this is his retribution, which he promised during the course of the campaign.
And it's also, as we can talk about in connection with other stories, the complete abrogation, not just the busting down of the wall between the White House and the Department of Justice, which has existed in Republican and Democratic administrations alike, with the exception of Donald Trump.
everybody in recent years.
This is the Watergate problem.
The reason why we've got this norm, this standard, is because the violations of Richard Nixon asking his attorney general to engage in basically criminal conduct.
But this has always been the norm.
Now, we've got a president openly saying, putting on truth social, Pam, you got to indict more people.
Get these people who are my political enemies.
And the last thing I will say about that, I'll take other questions, obviously, is,
Think about that.
If we were to hear about that in another country, find your continent.
Find your country.
And here's some reporting where the president, the prime minister, is going after his political enemies by charging them and attempting to jail them.
We would identify that as problematic, would we not?
We've
seen that in other places.
That's called an autocracy.
That's a dictatorship.
We still see that around there.
And that's what he is proposing.
in open domain here, right?
Pam, my attorney general, she's got to prosecute some people who have been unkind to me, have been nasty to me, have said some things that I don't like.
And again, it's all wrapped up when our recent First Amendment issues and frankly, again, more generally, president of the United States of America should have no business.
doing these kinds of things should be rule of law independent of any any political analysis.
Now I've got a question about that because the comments he's made in public or published everybody's seen them can they be used in court to throw these cases out that they're bringing because obviously it's retribution and that isn't a legal thing you can do.
Right.
Yeah.
People think that somehow, oh, I post something on Facebook, on Truth Social, on X, that somehow that's outside of the realm of things presented all the time in criminal cases.
Why?
Because this is yours.
These are your words.
This is
just to say
something.
So the technical answer is yes, it can be presented.
And second, again, it does support
The legal term for this would be selective prosecution.
What you are doing is you're saying, I want these people prosecuted again for filling the blank, and I'm not prosecuting or not encouraging.
It's one thing for the president to say, I would like the Attorney General of the Department of Justice to enforce the law of America.
Great.
Thank you for saying that if this president would ever say that.
Others have said it.
It's another thing to say I want John and Gordy and Dom to be prosecuted because they've said nasty things about me.
That's called selective prosecution.
It is a basis upon which federal district court judges and appeals courts can dismiss cases.
The motivation for it is all wrong.
It is contrary to our basic understandings of rule of law.
So he's killing his own cases instantly.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
In other words?
And frankly, every time that he says things even substantively, whether it's, you know, there's nothing there anymore with respect to Jeffrey Epstein.
But anytime he talks about the substance of what he thinks someone has done, now you're almost coming into the area of a witness.
All right, Mr. President, do you know something about what these people have actually done?
Do you know what the Federal Reserve board member, the governor, has actually done with respect to her mortgage?
Please come in and tell us about that.
What independent information do you have, Donald Trump, about this?
All kinds of problems here.
Just stop it.
get out of this and the recommendation, to your point, he undermines the very thing he wants to have accomplished by talking about it in this public domain, talking about it even privately.
I'm loving that.
All right.
Well, but it's again just continuing to deflect from the Epstein files being released.
I mean getting
that off the front pages or off the headlines, isn't it?
I mean that he knows that the media will pick up on even if it's an outrageous claim.
They got a they got a spotlight it and again push the Epstein thing out of the view of the
public.
You know that sex trafficking and they were big against this and run on this for at least 10 years, right?
They're trying to avoid any any issue
with that the first Epstein case came out in 2008.
Yeah 17 years ago.
That's right.
I mean,
it's
unbelievable.
Yeah
And again, any party should be a law and order party, right?
I still am, I'd like to think.
I think we all are law and order.
We want the laws enforced positively, appropriately upon investigation, processes got to be embraced.
Why not just say that?
Again, I know it's too much to ask of this president ever.
But if somebody there in the White House or even somebody in the Department of Justice wanted to give him a speech about law and order,
Just talk about what the basic tenets, the principles are.
You can find those speeches from presidents like the two George Bushes, from Jimmy Carter to Ronald Reagan to Barack Obama to Joe Biden.
They're out there and they have simply talked about these concepts broadly and told America, I'm in favor of the rule of law.
My Department of Justice is enforcing.
Yes.
things involving human trafficking, environmental crimes, commercial crimes, all kinds of things out there.
affirm that and be that kind of a law and order president.
He never will.
He doesn't understand that.
And it's simply about knee-jerk reactions to things he sees.
I don't know, candidly, that he even appreciates the point we just made, that you are affirmatively undermining the very thing you want to accomplish by saying these things in the public domain.
Do not be surprised.
Again, Jack Smith was ready to go.
With all these things that Donald Trump had said about January 6, all these things he had said about those Mar-a-Lago documents, he has got exhibits that are marked.
They're ready to go.
Those cases did not proceed.
Those were going to be principal evidence.
Why?
Because they're statements of the defendant himself.
And that defendant was and arguably still is in the broader sense of things.
Donald Trump, their statements against interest.
Lawyers present those because they're relevant, they're admissible, and they come in to ultimately convict you for the very things that you allegedly have done.
You know, one of the crazy things now is that, you know, no one trusts Cash Patel as the FBI director.
He has no experience whatsoever.
Doesn't even seem interested in the process when he was at the hearings.
It's just a strange thing now that we can't even trust what's going on with the government.
Legally,
Or even HHS, they're posted issues online about diseases and vaccines.
It's all changing.
None of it's real anymore.
It's just based on whatever they think.
medicine should deal with.
It's a very strange thing.
We don't really have a backup anymore.
I know states are getting together to form their own information source and advice and requirements for insurance companies to cover certain vaccinations.
So it's strange how it's just breaking the entire country up into these sections.
isn't it
right and we used to rely upon government for information right you could go online yes it changes that's the nature of science used to be able to go online and depend
that there are experts, as we've often talked, people who knew what they're talking about, animating their supports for this Department of Justice or HHS, Homeland Security, now just the opposite.
The Civil Rights Division inside Maine Justice is no longer enforcing the civil rights laws, but attacking the civil rights of people.
Jim, can you stay with us a couple more minutes?
I will do just that.
Very
good.
We'll be back with more with Jim Santel on John and Gordy.
It is
six
fifty two.
We've got a lot of cloud covered this morning all across the area.
Maybe a little bit of patchy fog in a few places.
Fifty six degrees currently highs today.
expected to get right near 70.
And then we've got to warm up the next few days.
We'll check in with Brittany Merleau in about half hour.
Find out the latest.
That's right.
That's right.
And we've got the go for the green and gold contest coming up in about 15 minutes.
We'll reveal the next key word where you could win a chance for $200 cash and some gold jewelry as well.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, let's get into that discussion a little bit here because, you know, I think Sinclair and Nexstar have proven that they can't handle too much coverage in this country by preempting Jimmy Kimmel.
They're censoring him.
They're silencing him.
Another opinion.
And they think they know better.
protecting their viewers from another opinion is what they're
essentially doing, right?
Well, and they want to please the Trump administration because the Trump administration is holding up the big $6 billion deal between Nexstar and Tegna.
Tegna used to be Gantt-Gannett television stations,
USA Today.
They'd own a lot.
They've got a ton of stations.
They would certainly have great coverage and they could preempt any program they want and control what the networks are sending out there.
And it just proves that the FCC, by the way, the FCC cannot censor.
They don't have any control of doing that.
They're kind of a watchdog about the
forbidden words or monopolies, but other than that they don't have the kind of teeth and Congress has to approve this next-star purchase because they have to raise the limit.
of coverage that these TV stations are allowed.
They can't cover the entire U.S.
and then decide whatever they want to decide by taking Kimmel off the air or whatever program they dislike or is against their religion or against their politics.
That's the point.
Did you get my email?
the cut that I'd like to play, let's play the original track from Kimmel, what he actually said.
Let's play that again.
We can, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and everything they can to
score
political points from it.
That's
it right there.
I mean, that's what he said.
And they objected to that.
They made it seem like, no, no, that guy was on the right.
No.
No.
And then they went completely overboard.
The Megas went completely overboard.
They flooded X. I mean, I was looking at X and it was just back to back accusations and Kimmel should be taken off, maybe even shot.
This is the kind of reaction they had.
They knew the door was open and they rushed through it and they just flooded social media and it was really pronounced.
Yeah, you know, I'm reading the transcript as you're playing it there.
And it's exactly what we said, you know, he said, quote, we hit some new lows over the weekend with the mega gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything, everything they can to score political points from it.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, that was it.
Make really complained about that.
Yeah.
So.
And they had no reason to one person a Bob, you know kind of walk.
Hi Bob get him getting my charger put in
Just to keep you updated on my EV charging station my
space car.
Yeah Anyway, he wrote oh my god
What planet is CJ on?
CJ has got to watch something other than Newsmax.
That's from
Scott.
Catherine is on the line here this morning with a question or a comment.
Go ahead, Catherine.
You're a question or a comment boy.
Like I'd ask John
anything.
Concerned.
You know, CJ called in this morning already and
his interpretation of the same words.
We all heard the same words.
Isn't that interesting?
What he said is not an issue.
What he meant by it is, and what you might consider acknowledging is that it's possible to reinterpret what he said.
What Jimmy Kimmel said was, they're distancing them, trying to make it out
that he is anybody but their own.
Words to that effect, right?
And I want to get the words right.
I mean, be anything but their own.
Meaning, not that he is something else, but that he's not ours for sure.
Right?
That's what Jimmy Kimmel was trying to say, was that the Republicans are saying he's not ours.
And that's fair.
They were saying that.
They were saying he's a liberal.
So Jimmy Kimmel's not saying,
He's a Republican, this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk.
He was trying to say that the Republicans are trying to say what he was.
Exactly.
Exactly.
And I read this more often than not.
He wasn't anything.
He raised Republican, raised very conservative, religious, right?
Republicans probably, but he can't even make that gauge.
But I don't know.
I just, it's interpretation, interpretation, interpretation takes the better interpretation.
try for a gentler interpretation and stop threatening people.
Yes, exactly.
And, you know, his parents, by the way, thought that maybe because of his relationship with his boyfriend-girlfriend, that made him more left.
That
was
their reference to it.
It wasn't that he turned into a left-wing crazy.
All right.
Thank you, Catherine.
Thank you.
Appreciate that.
It is 6.59.
Coming up in our next hour, right around the corner, we'll reveal the go for the green and gold keyword for our contest.
Also, Mike McCabe will join
us.
And we'll talk about vaccines.
Ah, yes.
The big news yesterday, which wasn't really that much.
OK.
It's all coming up.
Talk about, I don't
know.
So we'll get into it.
It's all coming up at the 7 o'clock hour.
It's John Peterson and Gordy Young along with Dominic Lee and you coming right back.
Mr. Barnett will save a place for me.
Cue me.
