John & Gordy · Tue Jul 15, 2025

Narrator

When the chips are down and democracy's back is up against the wall, two radio veterans step up to the microphone to right the wrongs, standing for truth, justice, and just because.

To say what needs to be said, it's John and Gordy on 92.7

Gordy Young

WMDX.

John Peterson

Well, here we go again.

Here we are.

Underneath this pile of trash we call news.

It's John and Gordy in the morning.

Gordy Young

One avalanche after another.

John Peterson

It really is.

Every day.

Every

Gordy Young

day.

Where do you start?

I don't know.

I don't either.

It's

John Peterson

just, you know, so much.

We're going to try something that we tried a long time ago.

It's called trending.

Trending.

Yes.

And

Gordy Young

everything's trending.

John Peterson

So, you know, we have so many trendy stories, so ridiculous.

So we're going to try that at 20 after.

Right.

Speak to him.

I want to check

Gordy Young

that out.

John Peterson

Good morning.

Yeah.

That's

Gordy Young

John Peterson.

I'm Gordy Young.

Dominic Lee is in the hot box.

Good

John Peterson

morning.

Gordy Young

He's keeping the switches and pushing the buttons willy-nilly.

In the hot box?

Yeah.

Making sure we're on the air, right?

Yeah.

OK, good.

We have sunshine this morning.

It looks like a gorgeous morning.

John Peterson

It's gonna

Gordy Young

be really hot this afternoon.

John Peterson

I don't think we have the Canadian smoke anymore.

Thank God to Tom Tiffany and Glenn Grossman for warning Canada.

Knock it off.

Knock it off.

They did.

They shut the window or the door or whatever it is up there

Gordy Young

in Canada.

So we don't have the haze, but we've got the humidity.

The dew point is gonna be soaring today, John, into the...

Oh, no.

The 70 plus

John Peterson

range.

It was bad yesterday.

I mean, it really was.

I mean, going out in the yard just to play with the dog was like three minutes.

Gordy Young

I was done.

It's going to be awful today.

It's going to be very humid and highs in the

John Peterson

upper 80s,

Gordy Young

maybe 90-ish.

Really?

Yeah.

Right now, 67 degrees.

What is your

John Peterson

Samsung

Gordy Young

WMDX watch

John Peterson

say, the latest?

I know you think a

Gordy Young

wild guess there, but I've got the official temperature

John Peterson

on the

Gordy Young

Samsung.

Weather watch, it is 68 degrees, correct?

Oh, okay.

I think your wrist adds another degree or two.

I have 88.

Okay.

John Peterson

No, it's getting temperatures from another source, not from my

Gordy Young

wrist.

Okay.

I don't know.

John Peterson

And prove

Gordy Young

it.

John Peterson

Prove me wrong.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

He could be right then.

834 is sunset time just in case you wanted to there

Gordy Young

now.

I was curious about that.

A little bit later on, we're going to be talking to Matt Trammell from downtown Madison about Maxwell Street days at the end.

Yeah.

And we'll check that out.

He's always a lot of fun and knows what's going on in downtown Madison.

John Peterson

He's got his finger

Gordy Young

on

John Peterson

the pulse.

Gordy Young

Maxwell Street

John Peterson

Days is like a daytime thing.

We do the evening thing.

Madison does the evening thing now.

What is that, the evening sidewalk?

The nighttime thing?

I

Gordy Young

think they call it something.

John Peterson

The night market.

That's what it

Gordy Young

is.

That's better, I think.

A little shorter.

But they don't have one in July.

The night market, they skip, because there's so many other things going on in July.

They skip July and then we'll have it in early August.

So are they always bi-monthly?

Is it just...

No,

John Peterson

they're only it's

Gordy Young

every it's every month except for July except for July.

John Peterson

Okay.

Gordy Young

Yeah in the summertime

John Peterson

So they picked Maxwell Street days to be during July then

Gordy Young

yeah, that's the way that way we can talk to Matt about that a little later and give you know get the strategy

John Peterson

Yeah, see if they had a arm wrestling match to see who gets priority

Gordy Young

in July

Ah, so now let's see.

Did you see that Superman?

Did you hear Pete Schwabba talking about Superman on the way in?

No.

He saw the movie.

John Peterson

Kind of a mixed

Gordy Young

review.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Can't really tell if he liked it or not.

John Peterson

I think that's a well just knowing Shraba.

Yeah, he's not a big superhero movie guy So if he's kind of mixed on that's that's actually a plus now Are you going to see it today today?

We're going to see it at about four four thirty or so.

Oh, okay Yeah, I can't wait to see it.

I mean there's a lot of talk about it now Right and we'll see

Dominic Lee

yeah, I think Pete's

Producer actually went to go see it as well Conrad.

John Peterson

Yeah,

Dominic Lee

he said he really liked it.

John Peterson

Conrad

Dominic Lee

likes the superhero movies.

Yeah, I think

John Peterson

it's

Dominic Lee

just they were they were opposite there.

John Peterson

Okay, I don't know I

Dominic Lee

have

John Peterson

suspicions about anybody

Gordy Young

who

John Peterson

doesn't like superhero

Gordy Young

movies I might actually go see that I yeah, you know, I've heard a lot about it and It sounds good to me.

Well, it's

John Peterson

it's a new life

for Warner Brothers.

Is it?

Yeah, this is a complete changeover.

They've done away with the old DC universe.

It was...

It was horrible.

It was a disaster.

The flash movie was so bad and they started off right at the beginning with a really horrific scene of babies falling out of a building.

What?

Oh my god.

Are you kidding me?

Well, it's not so much just the babies falling out of a building.

It's the CGI that was just so bad.

Narrator

I just wanted

John Peterson

to run out of the theater screaming.

But James Gunn, who did Guardians of the Galaxy, he did that.

He did Peacemaker, which was fantastic, what a great series that was.

And he did that, and then he went over to Warner Brothers to take it over and revamp the DC universe.

And this is his first movie, this is the first revamp of...

all of the superheroes from DC.

Let's hope that it works out this time.

You know, they had such a horrible, horrible premise for all of the superhero movies.

I mean, there was Wonder Woman and Batman, although Batman was really done well by all of the people that wanted to do it.

But here's the thing, every one of those superheroes focused on being a hero.

Narrator

You

John Peterson

know, their thing was, I'm a hero, you know, and it was just really...

ridiculous and stupid and dumb and people they're supposed to be reluctant heroes people who wanted to help people didn't care about the limelight but in DC they they did man they really took this thing being a hero seriously well you could be a hero too you know it really suck so James Gunn is gone in there he's he's a funny guy he likes to add humor to it he likes all of the the humanistic

part of all of this.

So we'll see how he has added humanity to Superman.

And he's being, you know, he's already being accused of being too woke.

Oh, really?

Yeah.

Oh, no kidding.

I guess there's this idea that Superman is an immigrant from another planet.

Really?

So that is the that's the hang up now by the way.

Well, he's an orphan.

Okay.

And he's an immigrant.

Gordy Young

Okay.

Wow,

John Peterson

so they didn't like that addition to the movie They'll find something, you know, we really can't

Gordy Young

like immigrants

John Peterson

You know here

Gordy Young

even in superhero movies.

John Peterson

Yeah, it's always something

Gordy Young

it's fictional.

Okay

John Peterson

Well, it was somebody kind of fine to the bottom line it the other day on one of the news networks And they said what what's happening basically is that they're trying to turn the country into a white nation

They're really trying

Narrator

to stop

John Peterson

all immigrants of color getting into this country.

They want to clear it out of all the immigrants, people of even dark, you know, just brown, anything.

They want them out of here.

And they're turning this country into a white nation.

This is white nationalism.

This is what.

This is, by the way, something they've wanted to do for a long, long time.

It's a white nationalist agenda.

It's a white nationalist Christian agenda.

So this is what they have wanted to do for years and years, and they are going to get away with it.

I mean, we've got three and a half years of them clearing house.

This is what's going to happen.

Gordy Young

OK, well, on that happy.

John Peterson

All right,

Gordy Young

well, good morning.

John Peterson

I didn't want to open with anything

Gordy Young

political.

Um, Dom, let's get to, uh, what's happening with the, uh, what's, what's worse?

Or, what is it?

Dominic Lee

It's, would you

Gordy Young

rather?

Would you rather?

Would you rather do what's, what is worse with, which, would you rather?

Oh wait, we got Mark up there.

Oh, oh, okay, yep.

Maybe we should go to Mark.

Let's

John Peterson

go to Mark first.

Alright, Mark's got something to say.

Change the

Gordy Young

subject.

Okay, good morning, Mark.

Mark (caller)

Good morning, guys.

I saw the Superman movie, as I think I mentioned, and I loved it.

It's a great movie.

then the whole immigrant thing, I saw that as true there.

And the whole, you just talked about the whole making this a white nation.

As I'm reading Ruth Ben-Gayats book, Strongman, I mean, that's what the Nazis wanted to do.

They

SPEAKER_05

wanted

Mark (caller)

to purify, you know, make it a white, you know, a white German nation as opposed to, you know, the purify the nation, you know, to purify the blood.

And that is, you know,

Donald Trump was talking about poisoning the blood and all that.

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

Right.

Mark (caller)

That reading that book is, is even though it's, um, it came out before, you know, that before the 2024 election, that I don't think she anticipated Donald Trump coming back into office.

Maybe it is terrifying for seeing how because he's got a whole clue of syncopants that are going along with this bull.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

Mark (caller)

Yes.

So what's, what's amazing is there's non white people in his administration.

I mean, that, uh, look at, uh,

Cash Patel.

These people are able to sign along with this kind of thing.

It's

SPEAKER_05

crazy.

Mark (caller)

It's crazy and considering the Ronald Reagan speech, I don't know if you guys played that one, but he talked about those, more or less admiring his, you know, Leigh Liberty's saying, bring me your tire, your pour, she's lifting the light.

Just the opposite, yeah.

Just the opposite of what Reagan for all his faults, he was right on that

SPEAKER_05

one.

Mark (caller)

I mean for these guys we have to oppose this nonsense they're coming up with all the time because you see these ICE agents now say you got to ask them how they feel working for a for a fascist.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah,

Mark (caller)

right?

Yeah, it was just you had to confront them each and every day.

We had to confront this.

All we want I mean for God's sakes we all knew Superman was an immigrant.

You find a baby out in the field there and you know that

You know that if somebody, if you found a baby out in the field in a space capsule like this, the military, and they're wanting him, wanting to do all the military experiments

SPEAKER_05

you

Mark (caller)

see in all these science fiction films, and they protected this, they printed this paper, brought it up as their own, and adopted him as it, but I mean that the anti-immigrant attitude that's out there today, these people have been here, you know, Maggie Dawn was trying to get, you know, engaged last night, trying to say,

What about a person who's been here, you know, five, 10, 15, 20, 25 years, you know, that enter this country illegally, paid their taxes, been completely legal, you know, committed no, no major serious crimes.

I mean, they got a traffic ticket or something like that, but you wanted to send them all back.

I mean, and they refused to answer the question because they just want to purify the country.

John Peterson

That's what they want to purify the country.

Mark (caller)

And we know

John Peterson

that in the American party.

Uh, Elon's party that

Mark (caller)

he

John Peterson

wants to start that's that's purely white white power isn't that is pure white power You know the guy is from South Africa apartheid he wants to turn this country in an apartheid type country and that is what he's working on That's why he thinks he can you know pluck a lot of people from the mega party.

Yeah and

Mark (caller)

start

John Peterson

American party

Mark (caller)

and the tragedy is is that if you read any of the history from the early colonial days at all We would not have made you know the way

men wouldn't have made it in this country if the Indians hadn't assisted them, who taught them the ways to live with the land in this country.

They're not white.

Beyond me, we're accepting this nonsense that Trump is spewing right now, and we have to fight it peaceably in any means necessary, but it has to be an act of resistance, not passive resistance.

They need to be confronted.

I know.

They need to be confronted.

All right, Mark.

Thanks, guys.

Appreciate it.

Thank you.

John Peterson

Mark, you too.

Very good points there.

It's a scary time for all of us,

Mark (caller)

and

John Peterson

we have to keep that in mind.

I don't think we're emphasizing the white part of this enough, because this is really what is happening in the US right now.

Well, look, we're going to have a special feature trending.

Narrator

But I think we're going to have to

John Peterson

go with our normal everyday feature.

Yeah, we could do whatever we feel like.

I'd prefer would you rather, you know.

Wow.

Listen to him.

Well, we're just here right here.

Gordy Young

Exactly.

All right.

We're going to reshuffle the deck here.

When we come back, we'll get to trending and would you rather.

It's all coming up on John and Gordy in the morning, 19 past the hour.

We're coming right

John Peterson

back.

Ryan (producer/weather)

More reverb

John (host)

I don't know what you're saying, but it's scary this is oh Is that maybe a less reverb I don't know or maybe overdub it

Ryan (producer/weather)

All right, it is 623

Beautiful sunshine today.

Temperatures in the mid 60s to start things out.

We'll get into the upper 80s.

It's gonna feel more humid through the day.

All right, Dom, would you rather, let's

Gordy (host)

get to it.

Let's bring this music back up.

All right, first question.

Would you rather have to use shrimp flavored toothpaste or deodorant that smells like cheese?

Got you

John (host)

got you guys really thinking temporary stunned.

I

Ryan (producer/weather)

don't know

John (host)

the shrimp thing that thinks more temper than you know putting on I Agree.

Yeah, I agree.

I agree.

I would go shrimp All three of us you man is on the shrimp flavored toothpaste, okay?

Second question of God thinking about I couldn't even handle too much mint.

Gordy (host)

Yeah, yeah

Okay, next next question.

Would you rather eat all your food with your hands?

Or use utensils with your non-dominant hand?

Well, I guess I'll use my non-dominant hand.

I think I'll eat all my food.

I think I would eat really.

Yeah, just with my hands.

How are you gonna handle spaghetti really?

I've done it before when I was an infant

and mash your face into it.

What are you gonna do?

Stuff it in, yeah.

I think I would use my hand, though.

I think I'll use my finger.

I think that works for me.

What the hell, Ryan?

What if it's really hot?

Okay, never mind.

Next question.

That's true, actually.

Alright, third and final question.

Would you rather have skin that changes color based on your emotions or tattoos appear all over your body depicting what you did yesterday?

So whatever you did yesterday, that tattoo would be on you for today.

Geez.

Or would you ever

John (host)

have

Gordy (host)

skin that changes color based

John (host)

on how you eat?

How do you come

Gordy (host)

up with this stuff?

What are you drinking at

John (host)

night?

Gordy (host)

I have migranidine, and I call

John (host)

it a night.

Really?

I bet you do.

Why has a fascinating idea that your skin would change with your color?

Wow, that would really, the Megas would go nuts with that.

Well, yeah,

Ryan (producer/weather)

they would.

They

John (host)

would be basically deep red all the time there.

We wouldn't have a white nation at that point Wow, I think I I'd go with the mood mood ring thing I think I

Gordy (host)

would too tattoos could be

John (host)

that

Gordy (host)

could be really bad the

John (host)

next Yeah, I don't like the

Gordy (host)

tattoo idea.

I guess I'd go with the scary.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Okay.

All right.

Well, there we

John (host)

go three questions.

That's all three questions

You know, I always look at, I look at this feature as a way to take a deeper look into our psyche.

You know, the psyche of John and Gordy, and of course, Don.

So what is it all about?

What are these guys all about?

And this is one way of figuring it out now.

Yeah, it's a it's an ugly terrible picture We probably should just continue well

Gordy (host)

now they know, you know John and I eat hands They would rather rather eat our food with our

John (host)

hands.

Yeah

Gordy (host)

utensils

Ryan (producer/weather)

seems disgusting to me,

John (host)

but I went through all the trouble of researching Sporks and

The history of sports.

No.

Yeah.

Well, the history of sports.

And I wanted to current the evolution of sports.

You know what we're talking about?

Sport, right?

That's a spoon.

Okay.

Oh, okay.

Just making sure.

A lot of people, you know, get the plastic stuff for picnics.

Sure.

But I wanted to be in the home now.

I'm damn awful tired of dealing with flat forks.

Who made flat forks in the first place?

They could have cupped it just a little bit, right?

I mean, everything rolls off a fork.

No one likes forks.

So you think

Ryan (producer/weather)

they should have metal sporks?

John (host)

The the spork is I know I don't care about the spork idea I just I want a fork that has a slight cup to it So things don't fall off the fork.

Am I the only one?

Maybe I think you

Ryan (producer/weather)

got something.

John (host)

I don't know.

I never thought about that.

Ryan (producer/weather)

It's a

John (host)

good

Ryan (producer/weather)

idea You

John (host)

know I make you know a hash browns or something like that, you know, yeah, everything is

is this you know who made up the at least make the fork a little bit wider perhaps but no you know it has to be rethought they have to redo the forks and I'm thinking cup it a little bit keep the fork but cup it

or get a damn spork.

And I ordered a whole bunch of sporks online at Amazon because you can find a whole lot of weird things there.

I suppose Etsy too, but I tried Amazon.

I ordered two different kinds.

One is a narrow spork.

The other one is a wider spoon like, yeah, no one cares, right?

Did you ever have a problem with the flat fork, everything falling off those damn things?

Ryan (producer/weather)

I'm not disagreeing.

I think you're onto something here.

And I think we should get that.

the input of our listeners, if you have a flatware item that you'd like to see redesigned, give us a call, 608-879-8255.

Some of you will

John (host)

say, well, why were you thinking of this?

I mean, don't you have other things to do in your life?

Right?

Yeah, I was thinking the same

Don (regular contributor)

thing.

John (host)

But at the same time, when you're eating and you've made the food for yourself and you're sitting there at the table, it's the only thing you're doing.

And the only thing you're doing at that point is trying to keep the food out of the damn floor.

And I thought, I am done with this struggle.

OK,

Ryan (producer/weather)

how are you on butter knives?

Are you OK with butter knives?

John (host)

No, we should have a little coffee.

Ryan (producer/weather)

OK.

How about the salad for it?

Is that all right?

John (host)

Well, it's too small.

It's too small.

My hands are

Ryan (producer/weather)

too big for that.

All right.

It's 29 minutes past the hour.

And when we return, it's time for idiocracy.

John (host)

Yes, it is.

Are we

Ryan (producer/weather)

going to get to trending, too?

We're going

John (host)

to just combine.

Yes, well, we'll start with

Ryan (producer/weather)

trending.

OK.

All right.

It's all coming up on John and Gordy in the morning.

Stay with us.

Unnamed Producer

You can ask me what's trending.

What's trending?

You can ask me what's

Gordy

trending.

What's trending?

WMDX 92.7.

It's

John

John and Gordy in the morning.

635 sunshine today highs in the upper 80s.

It's going to feel humid right now mid 60s.

This portion of the show brought to you by Verlo mattress.

It's fantastic

Gordy

to see a public service like this to

John

keep

Gordy

that sale going for the adjustable bed frames because I know they know that people will love those frames and want to sleep on them all the time.

John

Because of you, John Peterson, have brought it to our attention how great these adjust-

bed frames are.

That's right, not just for hospitals anymore.

You've been pushing this for a long time.

I have.

And finally, they're stepping up and they're listening at Verlo mattress headquarters.

Isn't that something?

Gordy

Yes.

Isn't that something?

Yes.

I expect to be asked to be a partner, one of these.

John

Well, just keep waiting.

Gordy

And you know, I brought up the fork issue and I think...

People are as fed up as I

John

am.

Let's recap.

You want to redesign the fork.

Gordy

I do.

I want to cop it just a little bit so food doesn't

John

fall off a flat fork.

Well, Bob from Economa Walks, with you on this, he says, uh, forks that taper in towards the end are hard to keep food from falling off.

Gordy

Exactly.

John

Yeah, I didn't even

Gordy

think about it.

That's right, Bob.

They make forks even in that bad design.

Unnamed Producer

And then

Gordy

we just, they just make really bad forks everywhere.

Unnamed Producer

We

Gordy

also

Unnamed Producer

got

Gordy

a voice note too.

Unnamed Producer

Let's listen.

Let's listen to that.

Let's hear

Gordy

it.

SPEAKER_??

Okay.

Unnamed Producer

So what we should do, guys, is you take a spork or a fork with a dome shape to it, like you mentioned, and then you just add a knife to the other end of it, and then you just need the one you tensile.

Done and done.

All right.

Is that Matthew?

Gordy

Yeah,

John

it is.

It's

Gordy

funny.

That's great stuff.

OK,

John

see?

Yeah, I think that's a wonderful idea.

Now, I would call this spitball in

Gordy

it,

John

right?

Gordy

And we're

John

workshopping it.

We're running it around the table.

See who salutes.

We've

Gordy

got to put this on the website

John

now, yeah.

Gordy

Exactly.

We're going to solve this problem and or at least bring attention to it.

Yeah.

And you know, maybe the Maggots could talk to Trump about this and maybe we can get on something as important as this because this is a very special.

Let it die down edition of the John

John

and Gordy show.

That's what Trump's saying about the Epstein thing, right?

That's right.

He just wants it to go away.

Just let it die down.

He's telling his staff.

Gordy

Tell us what you think, Trump.

My god, what?

Yeah, you know, they brought this up.

They mentioned this for years, right?

Yeah, this was the big deal.

They're gonna finally do it.

If I become president, we're gonna release that list.

You bet.

John

Right.

They had like decided to change their mind.

CNN is saying sources say Trump hoping to tamp down drama around Epstein case.

Ain't happening.

No, just keep talking about it.

Keep talking.

Keep bringing it up.

King Don,

Gordy

just keep talking about it.

We'll keep bringing it up as well.

But again, it's a let it die down edition.

Good luck with that.

All right, we have a hot and bubbling story, you know.

This is a big story.

This happened, I believe, yesterday late in the evening.

The, well, this is Lawrence O'Donnell with this late breaking news here.

So let's play it.

Okay.

But I thought you had that ready.

Unnamed Technician

I just, I

Lawrence O'Donnell

just

Gordy

send it out to you.

Oh yes.

74.

Yeah.

74.

Okay.

Here we go.

Lawrence O'Donnell

Breaking news.

The Republican controlled house rules committee has just voted to block the release.

of the Epstein files.

Joining us now is a member of Congress who forced that vote.

I can't let it die down.

Give us the latest situation with the House Rules Committee.

Unnamed Member of Congress

Well, it's very disappointing.

I had a very simple amendment that the full Epstein files should be released.

It went for a vote to the House Rules Committee.

Jim McGovern, who is the ranking member for House Democrats, made sure that all four Democrats voted for the release.

Ralph Norman, a Republican, actually joined with the Democrats, saying that there should be a vote on the full release.

Chip Roy didn't show up for the vote, but seven other Republicans

So, as of now, there is going to be no vote tomorrow, up or down vote, on whether the Epstein files should be

Lawrence O'Donnell

released.

first stage of your attempt to get a full vote by the House of Representatives, to see a full recorded vote.

Everyone could see how their member of Congress voted on this

Unnamed Technician

issue.

Lawrence O'Donnell

And that's what was blocked by the Rules Committee, not allowing you to get to that stage on the floor.

Why would it be important to have that recorded vote on the floor?

Unnamed Member of Congress

Well, in a very simple way, we should see whose side are you on.

That's really what this Epstein file issue has become.

It's not just about knowing who's being protected, the rich and the powerful, in terms of who had an interaction with Jeffrey Epstein.

It's the sense that people have that the government is too beholden to certain interests who have their thumb on the scale and that they're not working for ordinary people.

And what the Democrats are saying is we want to make sure that we get full justice here, that we get full transparency.

And this may have been the first attempt that was blocked, but I'll tell you, it's not going to be the last attempt.

We already have Representative VC, who has a resolution.

Leader Jeffries is saying that we're going to push

for transparency here.

And we can keep introducing these kind of amendments every week, every month, to force the Republicans to demand the release.

And this is something that many Republicans believe should happen, as was evidenced by Ralph Norman's vote.

Elon Musk's

Lawrence O'Donnell

commentary on this situation continues.

Elon Musk posted this after Donald Trump's long Jeffrey Epstein social media postings.

Elon Musk said, seriously, he said Epstein half a dozen times while telling everyone to stop talking about Epstein, just release the files as

Gordy

promised.

Came up with a good one this time.

Well, I think we jumped on the let it die down edition a little too early

John

That's not happening.

Well, this all came about because of bun bun Gino, right?

Yeah, the deputy FBI dude.

Yeah.

Yeah, he wants you Yeah, he wanted to release the files, right?

Yeah, originally he did Talk

Gordy

about it on his podcast

John

everybody was on this thing and cash Patel was in the same

He was there with a corner.

Yeah, suddenly.

Yeah, there.

No, let's not do it.

Let's not do the Epstein file thing.

And the cold,

Gordy

brutal stare of Pam Bondi had cemented that.

You know, she just said, no, we were not going to do

John

it.

No,

Gordy

no,

John

no.

Gordy

Those

John

files were on my desk, but now no.

We're not.

I've

Gordy

never seen a more powerful sycophant in my entire life.

She is just outrageous.

Seriously.

Oh my gosh.

Anyway, yes, it's not going to die down.

We're going to keep beating this horse.

And because we were led to believe that they were going to release this information, they wanted it.

Trump was.

asked about it very early on in an interview, and he kind of said, yes, yes, release it.

Well, maybe we should, you know, at least take a look at it and, you know, take out some of the names of some of the people that might be affected.

Yeah, well, while

John

he was campaigning, though, when he was campaigning, he wanted them released.

Somewhat,

Gordy

yeah.

John

Yeah.

So, so, yeah, it kind of blew up in his face, and that's what's happening now.

But now to have the house, they're going to have.

They're not gonna let this go.

No, they're not.

There's too many people that want to

Gordy

release the magas want it their voters want it and we'll see what happens.

Although, you know, Republicans really don't give a damn about what their voters want.

God, what are we saying?

All right.

Anyway, let's move on to something horrific.

Actually, I hate to bring everybody down with this.

But it's about Gaza.

And Pierce Morgan and Mehdi Hassan also had commentary on this.

So I just want to play something about the massacres that are going on in Gaza over people just trying to get food.

I really can't even get over this at all.

I mean, they're actually...

The Israeli army is actually firing on doctors.

They're holding doctors in prison in regards to trying to help people who are injured in Gaza.

This is just, I've never seen anything like this.

We haven't really focused too much attention on this, but I just thought I'd play this cut here.

And I believe this is Medea-san, his commentary, cut 32.

Let's go with

Unnamed Technician

that.

Oh, control yourself, John.

And you've come back and done exactly what they wanted to do.

You've done their propaganda for them.

Journalists have not been allowed freely and together.

That's why every major media organization on planet Earth has said to the Israeli government, you must allow journalists in.

The Palestinian journalists who are there have been killed in record numbers.

Of course, Piers, you're right.

They want to hide what they're doing.

That's why they're killing the journalists there and blocking the journalists from coming in.

This idea that he's been on the ground...

Yeah, I did interview a doctor, a British plastic surgeon, Dr. Tom Patoka.

And by the way, he wasn't in the European hospital because the hospital got bombed by Israel.

So he was in another hospital.

And he talked to me about how he has to treat patients who have maggots in their wounds.

He has to treat patients without limbs.

He has to treat children.

I've interviewed multiple doctors on the ground in Gaza.

Actually, in Gaza, not hanging around with Israeli military.

And they've all said the same thing, American doctors, British doctors, Canadians.

They've all talked about how many kids they saw with sniper bullets to the head and chest.

Israel does intentionally kill civilians.

That's why Benjamin Netanyahu and Yov Galant were indicted at the International Criminal Court for precisely those charges for killing, willful killing of Palestinians for murder and persecution.

That's why they've been indicted.

That's why every human rights group in the world says war crimes are being committed.

They've killed people holding white flags.

We've seen it with our own eyes.

They've bombed buildings without warning with families inside, like the Eldos family that I often cite in October 2023.

They've dropped 2,000-pound bombs on refugee camps full of hundreds of people.

They have killed seven aid workers in a clearly marked World Central Kitchen aid convoy.

They've bombed world food program convoys, leading to Cindy McCain, the wife of the most pro-Israeli senator of my lifetime, to come out and condemn Israel for attacking aid workers.

John wants you to ignore...

Cindy McCain and British and American doctors and human rights groups and your own lying eyes watching people with white flags being gunned down.

He wants you to believe him and his Israeli military minders.

The war on terror was a complete failure.

And some of us who saw that, and by the way, Joe Biden even said this in one of his more coherent moments, he said Israel should learn from our lessons.

Israel did not learn from the US lessons.

And actually, even if you forget about all the innocent Palestinians they killed, even if you don't give a shit about the people of Gaza, even if you only care about the

people of Israel.

Israel is not any safer today.

Israel is not winning this war.

Gordy

All right.

That's a lot.

Yeah.

John

Well, you

Gordy

know, many is an amazing order.

I just, you know what?

He filled in for people on MSNBC.

Unnamed Technician

I

Gordy

mean,

John

he took the

Gordy

program over.

He was so, so good and for letting him go is just unforgivable at this point.

But anyway, many is on top of this.

And I want you to hear a more recent time.

Only minute, one minute.

Oh, no.

Okay.

Well, we'll play this after the break.

This is a more updated version of what's happening in Gaza about being killed over just trying to get food.

You know, they put the military zones in between the people and the food.

Yeah.

And you can't get past it.

They have times that you can get through and times when you can't get through.

It's just

John

awful.

It's a humanitarian disaster.

and it just continues.

And it's way in the background.

You have all of our own headlines going on here and it just continues and nothing's being done.

But we'll get to that track in just a moment.

We will continue with more of John and Gordy in the morning on this Tuesday.

That's right.

To their voice.

It's amazing.

And it scares them.

Gordy (Host)

All right.

It doesn't scare anybody.

What are you talking about?

Well, it's so lethal.

It doesn't matter with you.

All right.

All right.

Well, let's get serious again.

You know, we're talking about what's happening in Gaza here.

And we have a more current report on what's happening.

This isn't the most current, but it is what's happening there.

And let's listen to cut 36.

News Correspondent

410 Palestinians have been killed and thousands have been injured trying to get food.

Since the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation took over aid distribution at the end of May.

That's a US and Israeli-backed organisation that's taken the place of international agencies like the UN who say they've been sidelined.

It is running just four large distribution centres compared to hundreds previously supported by charities.

So Palestinians are having to travel a long way to get food.

sometimes through combat zones, and there isn't always enough to go round.

So we've seen scenes of chaos and tension, large crowds and soldiers or security guards opening fire.

The situation's been described as desperate and Israel stands accused of weaponizing food as part of its war against Hamas.

That would be a breach of international law.

What they've been

Political Analyst

doing in the last few months, the three month blockade, starving.

already impoverished war-torn, innocent civilians in the main, women, children.

And then, as they queue up desperate for the small amounts of food coming in, opening fire and being so disingenuous about, well, there are question marks over all of these.

Well, let me answer the question marks.

Here's how we can do it.

You said it about Iran earlier.

But what about the fact that Israel continues to refuse to allow international journalists, including the BBC, into Gaza?

There's only one reason they don't want journalists in Gaza.

They don't want them to see what is actually going on.

If there's nothing to hide, let the journalists in.

International Correspondent

And as we said to the ambassador, to the Israeli president, there are more than 10 occasions where there has been shootings around those food queues, which I think the vast majority of people looking at would think that's an incredibly shocking situation.

Gordy (Host)

It is shocking.

And it's Pierce Morgan, his opinion on that as well.

So it's really horrific.

It's a disaster.

I saw a video and it was a teenager that was just skin and bones who passed away.

And it's just God awful.

It's so sad.

My God.

Yeah.

All right.

Well, anyway, how do you come onto that one?

I don't know.

But, you know, we haven't really, we haven't covered this story because it just keeps evolving and I want to be fair with our coverage on it, but at this point it's pretty obvious what's taking place and that's why we're talking about it now.

John (Host)

Well, it continues to be just a, again, I'm going back to humanitarian disaster because people are starving there.

and they're getting, you

Gordy (Host)

know.

It's just awful.

Watching your loved ones pass away, die from starvation, it's

John (Host)

just.

And, or they're injured, or they

Gordy (Host)

have a horrible,

John (Host)

yeah, I mean horrible injuries and, you know, and the kids are just caught in the middle

Gordy (Host)

on

John (Host)

all of this.

They can't do anything about it, it seems.

Can't get aid in, and

Gordy (Host)

they can't get food in.

I think, you know, summing it up as using food as a weapon is pretty much it.

All right, we got two minutes left.

Yeah, all right.

Let me mention that this portion were fired, right?

That's all that's the end of it.

Yeah

Look at this.

I missed the memo.

I know we're watching some unbelievable video right now.

Subway surfers.

Subway surfers.

News Correspondent

Arrested in

Gordy (Host)

New York City.

They're on top of the subway just cruising along.

And they have a video of this.

They're three or four kids.

I remember when Spider-Man did that, but

John (Host)

that was

Gordy (Host)

okay.

John (Host)

They're on top of the subway.

Yeah.

And it's, you know, going through the city there and they've got,

Gordy (Host)

they're scanning up there.

John (Host)

They were arrested for that.

That's not a good idea.

Somebody's gonna get hurt.

we'll be talking also about the big layoffs coming to the Department of Education.

Oh my gosh.

Giving the green light on that by the Supreme Court.

Something like 1400 people out the

John (Host)

door.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Stay tuned for more of John and Gordy in the morning right here at WMDX.

Gordy (host)

Is it really?

Yeah.

What

time is it?

What time is it?

John and Gordon.

We really haven't

pushed coffee

John (host)

much on this program.

We haven't seen coffee guy lately.

That's why.

I

Unnamed Staff Member

just saw him walk in.

John (host)

Wait,

Unnamed Staff Member

really?

Gordy (host)

Oh, really?

He got in through the back door?

I think he's... Oh, no.

Oh, no.

Oh, no.

Who wants

Unnamed Staff Member

coffee?

I just made a fresh pot

Gordy (host)

of

Unnamed Staff Member

coffee.

We've been

John (host)

playing down coffee just a little bit because Gordy can't have all that caffeine

Gordy (host)

anymore.

John (host)

Not only that, we thought the taxes, the tariff would raise the price of coffee to the point where we can't drink it anymore.

Gordy (host)

It's already too high.

The prices are already skyrocketing.

John (host)

And now the tariffs on top of that, forget about it.

I

Gordy (host)

know it's not working, you know.

It's not

John (host)

working for me.

Okay,

Gordy (host)

let's...

Let's

John (host)

get into it.

Gordy (host)

Yeah, I did have something here.

It's seven minutes past the hour.

And actually, I

want to remind

everybody, I want to remind everybody that you might want to go to the Brewers game that's coming up on the 29th of this month.

The Cubs are taking on the Brewers at Amfam Field.

And you could be going with John and Gordy.

You could meet us there at Amfam Field.

because we've got tickets to give away.

How do you win those tickets?

You go to wmdxradio.com and you look at the top of the page there and you dial around until you find our logo there with the Brewer's Game.

There it is, Cubs Brewer's Day at the park.

Push that button.

It's all brought to us by Doundren's Distillery, by the way.

They're our sponsors, and we will feed you at the ballpark, and we will get you drinks.

Dom will be our go-to guy for all the food and drinks for our guests.

Okay, what?

You'll be sitting.

You didn't know that?

That was part of the deal, buddy.

Okay.

We didn't know that.

Yeah, so we got a pair of tickets, and you could win them.

Just enter.

Enter.

Just go to wmdxradio.com and you could be going to the game.

Yeah.

Meet us there.

John (host)

See, it's not so much that you're

Gordy (host)

going with Johnny Gordy.

It's you're really going to see the Cubs.

The Cubs.

I'm a big Cubs fan.

So is your wife in.

I know.

You know, we'll be

wearing all of our Cubs gear.

You're a big Brewers fan.

Dom, what are you?

You grew up in Chicago.

I'm a White Sox fan.

John (host)

You're a

Gordy (host)

White Sox

John (host)

fan.

Gordy (host)

So for this game, you will be a Brewers fan.

I will be.

I will be.

All right, it doesn't matter if you're a Cubs fan or a Bruce fan You can enter the contest and we'll let you know if you win.

Okay, we're gonna pick somebody in the next few days

John (host)

All right, let's get to the big story here one of the big stories This is something held over from last hour.

We didn't get to but I'm gonna get to it now the Supreme Court let

Trump proceed with the massive layoffs of the education department.

This is outrageous and ridiculous.

He has no power to do this.

Gordy (host)

Well, the Supreme Court's giving that

John (host)

power.

This is Congress.

This is their responsibility.

Right.

They doled out the money.

They decided this is what is needed, the number of people there in the Department of Education.

All of it is up to Congress.

It isn't up to the President and yet for some reason the Supreme Court has decided to let Trump fire everybody and downsize the Department of Education because this is part of their agenda.

We really have to kindly

We really have to look at this at the bottom line here.

They are playing along with the administration totally, totally.

I heard this report where on the shadow docket, the most important issues that Trump has asked the Supreme Court to deal with, 15 out of 15 were ruled in favor of Trump.

That's not a coincidence.

These guys are working together and that's why they're taking all these cases of the Supreme Court because they know they haven't made.

And this is just another outrage.

I mean, we gotta do something about the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court is destroying this country and they're unelected.

These are unelected bureaucrats in a judicial branch and they're making all the decisions and everything is final with them.

Gordy (host)

And Trump is getting more and more power as a dictator.

He's already a dictator.

It's done.

He's got it.

They've given

John (host)

him all of his

Gordy (host)

power.

John (host)

How much more

Gordy (host)

power can he possibly

John (host)

have?

But they are giving him more power.

And that's the whole thing.

And by the way, this is in the lower courts.

This is still going through the lower courts.

So the Supreme Court is making it so impossible to at least reverse any of this if and

Indeed these lower courts end up at the Supreme Court level and decide that he doesn't have this power It's impossible to make this good again.

Yeah.

Yeah, so anyway, the three liberal justices descended than this They have something to say they have something to say the other guys.

There's no word They just made it up.

You know, it's again the shadow docket the Supreme Court lifted the injunction on a Boston Grand

Boston hold up on that the judge found that the staff this is what the judge found it That's why he held this up prevented Trump from doing this the judge found that the staff cuts were so drastic They would prevent the department from carrying out duties mandated by Congress He also said the mass firings appeared to be part of Trump's plan to eliminate

the education department entirely, despite a lack of congressional authorization to do so.

And so here this is from Sonia Sotomayor.

She wrote this and all the other justices joined on in the liberal side.

They said, when the executive publicly announces its intent to break the law and then executes on that promise, it is the judiciary's duty to check that lawlessness, not

expedite it.

No kidding.

Yeah.

This is just.

It's what they should be doing.

There's just nothing, nothing that we can do at this point.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Just total,

Gordy (host)

total, total helplessness on this.

And Congress is no help at all.

John (host)

Yeah, I mean they can't do anything.

It's just ridiculous and I don't know what we're gonna do But we're gonna have to try and do something I know at least you know the Democrats very low in the polling But at the same time if they picked up an agenda, and I think this is how it should work out we should have a project 2026 Okay for the Democrats and make the agenda very very clear now

Democrats are doing a really good job of, you know, punching at the administration and getting out there and making their points known.

Gordy (host)

But

John (host)

at the same time, they've got to have an agenda that they can push now,

Gordy (host)

not

John (host)

react to later on.

The party has to do something now.

And I think in universal health care is one of the issues that we've talked about a number of times on this

Gordy (host)

show.

They do need to do something immediately.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Come up with something get it together.

Okay, let's go to the phones

dick is

on the line.

Good morning dick.

What do you got for us today?

Dick (caller)

Can I clean something up?

I said yesterday I was turned out to be totally wrong about the Epstein thing

Gordy (host)

sure

Dick (caller)

because all of these people have fell in line now MSNBC this morning opened with it for 10 minutes and now all these people that were just going nuts over the weekend They're all that it's all good.

So I guess what I would derive from that is that

How do you know when you're in the throes of full blowing, uh, you know, authoritarian rule, right?

And here's what they're saying.

He said, apparently he said, I'm f-ing pissed.

And that shut the door on everything.

Wow.

John (host)

So did you just say that MSNBC went along with maybe shutting this down and letting it go?

Dick (caller)

No, no, not at all.

He was going crazy Yeah, they were the ones reporting he just said a couple of a couple or three words I'm

Gordy (host)

yes, I

Dick (caller)

think the effing word

Gordy (host)

yeah,

Dick (caller)

and then that's all it's all over done all these people that were going crazy 48 hours ago and wanted, you know

Heads to roll, they're fine with everything

Gordy (host)

though.

Yeah, they just want to drop it.

John (host)

Well, you know, again, you know, Dick, this is the let it die down edition of the Johnny Gordy morning show.

And I think we we jumped on this a little too early.

It's not going to just die down.

OK, thanks for bringing it up.

All right.

SPEAKER_??

All right.

Thank you, Dick.

John (host)

Let's get to another.

This is a huge story.

We talked about white nationalism earlier.

I want you to get cut 73 ready.

This is a big story.

Ag secretary Brooke Rollins doesn't understand what the farmers need.

She's the ag secretary and she's completely clueless about farmers.

You know, they need year-round labor and we have

Immigrant fire labor out there in the farms and they need visas and passage to get out there and work and do this and work towards citizenship What the hell right?

I mean these people are helping us supply our food chain.

It's been that way for decades Absolutely, and and I don't know why they're so Well, I know why because they only want white people in this country.

You got to hear this This is Brook Rollins egg secretary talking about this very issue.

Listen

Brooke Rollins (Ag Secretary)

Bye.

Ultimately, we have to move to a 100% American workforce.

Now, a lot of this Larry, I think you can appreciate, can be solved through automation.

We are looking at that very closely and working with a lot of our great farmers around the country, but also ensuring we've got so many job openings in America.

Gordy (host)

It

Brooke Rollins (Ag Secretary)

actually may even go back to what Secretary Kennedy was talking about, the able-bodied men and women in America who are not working today.

Now, will they be filling all of the farm openings?

No, probably not, but this idea of

dignity of work.

Larry, you and I talked about a lot in the first Trump term.

It's time to return to that theme and that great righteous vision of every man and woman in America having a job and having the ability to provide for their family.

So there are a lot of solutions on the table

John (host)

and we're moving forward.

Well, that's a wonderful way to move forward.

Oh, it's very righteous, very right Brooke.

Wow.

Wow.

Boy, that sounds so great.

to a father like me that would love to see my sons picking lettuce.

Whatever they can, you know, between jobs of video editing and game board creation, you know, their dreams, the things they want to do.

Instead, I think they should get out in the fields and pick lettuce.

Now that's a worthwhile job.

Now that is integrity right there.

And hey, maybe soon those fired Department of Education employees

Gordy (host)

would like

John (host)

to hit the sun-drenched fields picking vegetables.

What the hell?

Oh my God.

Yeah, they'll be looking for

Gordy (host)

work

John (host)

here.

They hate people from outside this country so much that they would much rather kick them out.

And they're going through these farms.

They're ejecting the immigrants.

Yeah.

And they want, you know, I would, what's first here?

You know, the cart of the horse, right?

Well, yeah.

How do you kick you're gonna kick them off first and then say you know to the to the white people out there that are sitting around on their couches playing video games Get out there in the fields and pick the vegetables.

Yeah, why not?

It's not gonna happen.

No, it's not it's there's a reason why Why the kids aren't out there?

Gordy (host)

Do we

John (host)

doing the field work?

Well, yes, all right, and and here's the other thing too once we make this legal we can also protect

the labor out in the fields.

All immigrants out in the fields, they'll be protected with laws so they're not taken advantage of and looking for and working for low wages.

So we can do a lot for them as well.

Gordy (host)

Exactly.

Yes.

All right.

When we come back, we'll check in with Brittany Merlot, find out how hot it's going to get today.

And apparently the dew points are up, John.

I know you're

John (host)

obsessed with the dew

Gordy (host)

points, but they are up.

It's going to be hot, humid, sticky.

We'll get all of it from Brittany Merlot.

Coming up next on John and Gordy in the

morning.

Gordon (host)

Oh, yeah.

WMDX, 92.7.

John and Gordon in the morning, Mary Jane has taken us all away from this.

You're always going

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

to try

Gordon (host)

some THC stuff.

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

Really?

Gordon (host)

Some legal stuff?

Yeah.

To go to sleep at night, my sleep has not been as solid as it could be.

Really?

And I was going to try that.

Yeah, some gummies or something.

No, it's a taffy.

Oh, the taffy.

Yeah, we got that.

Yeah.

I was going to try that.

John (host)

Well, let us know how that goes.

Gordon (host)

Yeah, well, OK, thanks.

John (host)

723.

Sunshine today.

We'll get to the weather here in just a moment with Brittany Merlo.

But let me just mention this portion of the show brought to you by Madison Hearing Aid Center.

Go to their excellent website, madisonhearingaidscenter.com.

You can take an initial hearing test right there and then set up an appointment or give them a call.

608-249-4077.

That's 608-249-4077.

They're helping people change their lives.

Their goal isn't just selling hearing aids.

It's improving the quality of life through better hearing.

That's Madison Hearing Aid Center.

They're at 4706 Cottage Grove Road in Madison.

Okay.

Let's get to the weather.

Yes.

It's going to be hot and humid again today.

Things are going to heat up and Brittany Merleau's got the latest

Gordon (host)

on it.

It's

John (host)

worse where Brittany

Gordon (host)

is.

I

John (host)

know.

Gordon (host)

In

John (host)

Wassa.

Yes,

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

Wassa.

It's crazy.

Good morning, Brittany.

Oh, my gosh.

Yeah.

Good morning, guys.

I mean, it's already, what, 70 degrees outside?

Yes.

Nice and mild.

So you know we've got a ways to go.

Our relative humidity, I'm at 92%.

You're at 88%.

Wow.

It is gross out there.

My hair is frizzing.

Your hair is frizzing.

I got one of that earlier.

Yeah.

Wow.

One of those days.

Yes, it is.

But you know, highs will be about.

87 degrees and I think with the heat index because those dew points in the low 70s again today it is going to be feeling more like the low 90s and we put that on repeat for tomorrow too.

So two days in a row you might want to go splash around in the lake or something to cool off because ugh.

You were calling it swamp weather earlier.

Gordon (host)

Yeah the dew point is 66 here currently.

So that's that's up there.

That is way

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

up

Gordon (host)

there and then you have to look out for the the dangerous

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

In the water.

Oh

Gordon (host)

water.

Oh the algae

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

the algae.

Yeah Some beaches

Gordon (host)

are closed down because of it.

Yeah, it eats

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

your skin

Gordon (host)

away.

I understand Doesn't eat yours.

I think it's

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

flesh

Gordon (host)

eating algae I've

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

seen too many science fiction movies

Yeah.

John (host)

Yeah.

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

So so

John (host)

like this today and tomorrow and then what is it gonna?

We've got rain

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

coming.

Of course.

We sure do.

We've got a front that's sitting right in northwest Wisconsin still right now.

It is going to be sagging through tonight.

So far north we're going to have some severe storms.

we're going to be okay to afternoon.

It moves our w timing around three o'clock start to spark up.

We'll again, probably at six, a or nine.

It should clear

Now, what it's going to do is bring some heavy, heavy rainfall, another one to two inches of rainfall.

So flooding potential, flash flooding as it's going on is still a risk.

Then we're also looking at damaging wind gusts with these.

One line will definitely pack a punch possibly.

And then some of those storms out ahead earlier in the afternoon, three o'clock, those could get tornado warned.

So tomorrow's going to be an active day.

Wow.

Just, yeah.

All right.

Because we've got all this heat and humidity.

And let me tell you what's right behind it.

Comfortable, dry temperatures.

Our highs on Thursday, only about 70 degrees.

John (host)

Oh, wow.

I

Gordon (host)

guess I'm not going

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

to move

Gordon (host)

after all.

I'll stay in.

I'll stay in medicine.

Okay.

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

Yeah.

And Friday looks fantastic.

So comfortable in the mid seventies.

So the front will cause a little bit of drama first, but then it will be refreshing behind it.

My

Gordon (host)

major gets to be a little

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

dramatic.

I'm trying to be light about it.

Damage yet.

Hopefully nothing happens.

Gordon (host)

Let's hope.

Let's hope.

Okay, Brittany.

Brittany, thank you.

Thank you so

John (host)

much.

Gordon (host)

Good day.

John (host)

That's

Gordon (host)

Brittany Merlot, our chief meteorologist.

That's right.

Well, we got a text here from Doug Rural, Wisconsin.

Yeah.

Populations and Republicans are more often than not negative about Wisconsin's largest cities.

How about some interviews about how the Port of Milwaukee benefits Wisconsin's agriculture?

The Port of Milwaukee is Wisconsin's agricultural delivery system to the world.

It's huge.

So there you go.

Well, that makes it, yeah, that's a good point.

We should focus in on that a little bit.

Yeah, we're talking about making the, uh, the field workers all American.

Wow.

What, what a thing to do.

How's that going to work?

Oh, by the way, I wanted to mention this.

Borders are Tom Homan wants one good reason that kids and seniors can't pick lettuce instead.

No, he really

John (host)

did.

Gordon (host)

He

John (host)

said it.

Gordon (host)

I'll say that.

John (host)

Oh.

Yeah, kids and seniors head out to the fields.

That's that's part of our retirement

Gordon (host)

plan now.

John (host)

That

Gordon (host)

guy's a piece of work.

What is happening, you know,

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

and

Gordon (host)

we

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

got to

Gordon (host)

put up with these people

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

for

Gordon (host)

some clear reason.

I don't know why but we have to put up with them.

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

Okay,

Gordon (host)

I've got this weird story.

All right.

Brittany Merlot (chief meteorologist)

How's

Gordon (host)

GOP is raising money now, joking about alligator

Alcatraz the national republican committee sent out a mailer that said it features an image of a t-shirt and an alligator wearing sunglasses in a moat in a baseball cap with ice on it listen to

John (host)

this okay

Gordon (host)

ice on it a top of the image that says alligator alcatraz underneath it it reads ice with a bite

Oh, okay, I get it.

Yeah, there you go.

Cute.

So anyway.

It's getting too real.

It's getting too real.

I mean, here they, you know, the day-teens don't have any water for showers or bright lights are on all the time, rampant mosquitoes, maggots in their food, days without prescription medication.

Worms in their food.

Yes, and it's flooded with fecal matter water at their feet.

Wonderful.

Yeah, it's

John (host)

just great.

Yeah, and many of them are there with no, you know, no cause, really, no

No record of anything

Gordon (host)

that they've done wrong.

Well, maybe

John (host)

we've wept

Gordon (host)

off the streets and put in cages Maybe get they get to wear the t-shirts with the alligators on it and ice with the bite.

Yeah No

John (host)

due process Wow And apparently no hope for the future and yeah, and a lot of them haven't committed any crimes Mm-hmm 29 minutes past the hour when we come back.

We're gonna talk with Matt Trammell about Maxwell Street days coming up in Madison stay with us

92.7 it's John and Gordy in the morning.

Check out the Civic Media app if you will and text us

Gordy (host)

or voice notice as well.

You can also give us a call 608-879-8255 beautiful sunshine today but it's going to heat up to the upper 80s and it's going to feel more humid as the day goes on right now 68 degrees.

That's a Verlo mattress.

I just want to

John (host)

mention

Gordy (host)

at this

John (host)

point that this is the day after my birthday and I'm still celebrating.

So I just

Gordy (host)

want

John (host)

everybody to know that if they have any celebration comments they'd like to send me, that's fine.

Gordy (host)

Again,

John (host)

it's day two

Gordy (host)

of

John (host)

the John and...

celebration

Gordy (host)

of your birthday it was your birthday before you know last week yeah but we've

John (host)

been

Gordy (host)

yeah we had to celebrate all week because of that you celebrated by buying yourself a new car you know so why didn't anybody you know send you any more comments you you're the biggest celebrator of yourself but yourself a car I did buy a car did

John (host)

you drive it here

Gordy (host)

today

John (host)

by

Gordy (host)

the way no why are you not driving

John (host)

it

I was gonna do it tomorrow, but you know, maybe.

Maybe

Gordy (host)

you know, here's an insurance problem or something.

My

John (host)

wife didn't want the car and everybody thought dad's just buying more stuff, you know, impulse buying an EV.

Yeah.

Well, I'll tell you what.

Gordy (host)

What's the problem?

John (host)

Now they want to drive the car.

It's their car, not mine anymore.

Gordy (host)

I thought they didn't want it.

John (host)

Yeah.

No, they do

Gordy (host)

because

John (host)

it's so wonderful.

Gordy (host)

It's

John (host)

just incredible to drive.

Well, listen, we could go on and on.

Gordy (host)

I know we could.

Personal life, but we've

John (host)

got to move on.

Well, no one cares about my personal

Gordy (host)

life.

By the way, I want to mention

John (host)

Doug, Doug who's working for us in St.

Francis, Milwaukee, says morning radio personalities only work a couple of hours a day.

They could pick lettuce after their show.

Gordy (host)

Yes.

Well, pick up a little extra coin that way.

Sure.

Hey, that's not a bad idea.

Okay, let's get to our, you know, if we, you know, can we move on?

Okay,

John (host)

let's

Gordy (host)

move on to our guests.

Yes.

Matt Tramble is with us this morning.

Good morning, Matt.

Good morning.

How are you?

Matt Tramble (guest)

Thanks for having me back.

Gordy (host)

Matt is the executive director of Madison Central Improvement District and we're here to talk about Maxwell Street Days.

It's coming up just a couple of days from now, right?

Matt Tramble (guest)

Coming up Thursday through Sunday on State Street.

Maxwell Street Days is

John (host)

back.

Yeah, it's back.

It took a hiatus there for a

Matt Tramble (guest)

while.

It may have taken a hiatus maybe in 2020, but this is the 48th annual

It's been around for a long time.

It's a mainstay of our

Gordy (host)

State Street community

Matt Tramble (guest)

and downtown community.

And really an exciting opportunity for all the small businesses, roughly 55 of them participating in this event.

So it's a huge sidewalk sale slash bazaar.

And yeah, they're excited to get out there and have everybody down.

Gordy (host)

That's right.

It's

Matt Tramble (guest)

right here

Gordy (host)

in

Matt Tramble (guest)

our neighborhood,

Gordy (host)

all

Matt Tramble (guest)

along State

Gordy (host)

Street, right?

Matt Tramble (guest)

Exactly, yeah.

And yeah, there's live music on Saturday in Peace Park.

Puerto Trio, she's amazing from 4 to 6 p.m.

They'll be food everywhere of course all the great restaurants on State Street There's some face painting activities on in peace park on Sunday.

So fun for for the whole family really

John (host)

for the kids, too

Matt Tramble (guest)

Yeah,

John (host)

and you know one of the great things that you're gonna have great weather We just heard from Brittany.

Matt Tramble (guest)

Yeah,

John (host)

hello that the weather's gonna be fantastic starting on Thursday So what the

Matt Tramble (guest)

heck exactly looks it looks like it's gonna be great the heat's gonna clear out and now you should be a great weekend downtown and

John (host)

don't have to walk into each and every

Every building,

Matt Tramble (guest)

you can just

John (host)

walk along the sidewalk.

Everybody's store stuff is out there on the sidewalk for everybody to see.

Exactly.

Matt Tramble (guest)

They bring it right out to the street.

The street is going to be closed for four days to all cars and buses.

So the pedestrians take over again,

Gordy (host)

which is wonderful.

And

Matt Tramble (guest)

yeah, you're going to be able to stroll right down the middle of State Street.

Gordy (host)

It's a lot of fun because, as you mentioned, a number of street musicians will be out there, not only at Peace Park, but also all up and down.

They'll be buskers everywhere.

That's correct.

Yeah.

They don't have to pay a fee, do they?

Or do they?

For this?

Yeah, they do.

Do you know what that is or how much that is?

I don't.

It's very low.

It's a nominal fee.

$15 or

Matt Tramble (guest)

$20

Gordy (host)

is very low.

It's a good deal.

So lots of food, too, up and down the street.

A lot of the restaurants participate.

The

Matt Tramble (guest)

restaurants certainly will be out.

No food trucks, but the businesses will all be out.

and lots of sale items, I imagine.

Gordy (host)

Sale items,

Matt Tramble (guest)

it's a really big, it's kind of like a mid-year clearing out, if you

Gordy (host)

will,

Matt Tramble (guest)

for all of the retailers.

And of course, they're already thinking toward the holidays and everything that they're gonna be showcasing at that time really gives them an opportunity to get a lot of their inventory out onto the street, so they'll be amazing deals.

So it really is a nice opportunity for everybody to come out and not only have fun in the community, but pick up some savings.

Oh

John (host)

yeah, but you know, it's just,

It's such a great community event.

I mean, you get to

Matt Tramble (guest)

see

John (host)

other Madisonians heading down here and it's, you know, a lot of the students aren't here anymore, so

Matt Tramble (guest)

you don't have to worry about that.

Oh, they will be back.

Yeah, they will.

Mid-August is right around the corner.

Gordy (host)

That's true.

But it

Matt Tramble (guest)

is a really great time to be out in the community.

I mean, there's nothing better than we do down here than community and really getting everybody out, having a good time, really showing our love for those local businesses.

Well, you got

John (host)

new local businesses opening up down here.

that are being filled.

Yep.

Matt Tramble (guest)

Tell us about some of that.

Yeah, a few new restaurants on State Street.

In fact, we've had 26 new businesses open across the entire business improvement district since the beginning of the year.

Gordy (host)

Wow.

We had

Matt Tramble (guest)

25 open all of last year in 2024.

So we've actually exceeded that pace so far about halfway through the year.

Gordy (host)

So

Matt Tramble (guest)

we do see a lot of new business activity down here.

You know, we know that the pedestrian levels and foot traffic is back to.

where it was pre-pandemic.

Gordy (host)

And

Matt Tramble (guest)

essentially the occupancy rate for the entire business improvement district is roughly 91.5 to 90, 92%.

So that's again, back to where it was pre-pandemic.

That's great.

Yeah.

So Thursday through Sunday.

Thursday through Sunday.

Gordy (host)

What are the hours?

Matt Tramble (guest)

A 9 AM to 6 PM, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Gordy (host)

And

Matt Tramble (guest)

then a little bit of an altar on Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM.

OK.

I mean, this

John (host)

is truly the lifeblood of Madison here and this is what

Matt Tramble (guest)

makes

John (host)

us what we are.

Matt Tramble (guest)

It is.

And the stores on State Street, many of them, you know, long time stalwarts of the community.

But I think there's something unique that it really is local owned businesses.

For the most part, the vast majority, 80% of the businesses in the Business Improvement District are locally owned single store buildings.

And so really, if you really want to kind of

embrace that culture of crafters and makers and all of the things that make Madison great, State Street is definitely the place to do that.

John (host)

Well, we're still trying to get the John and

Matt Tramble (guest)

Gordy

Gordy (host)

merch store up

John (host)

a little a little a spoon-like feel to

Matt Tramble (guest)

them.

Perhaps you could start with merchandising that at the Night Market and see how that goes.

See how that goes, and then maybe you can graduate to renting your own space in the state streets.

Gordy (host)

There you go.

That's

Matt Tramble (guest)

right.

We should mention the night market comes

Gordy (host)

back in August, right?

Matt Tramble (guest)

August 21st.

Gordy (host)

That's correct.

On

Matt Tramble (guest)

Thursday, August 21st.

And that's always exciting, too, because the students will have just been back in town.

Gordy (host)

Right.

Matt Tramble (guest)

So again, you know, everything will be.

You know, for everybody who says that, you know, things really died down in the summer down here, I don't not really see that as much.

I mean, certainly there's some a little bit, but, you know, really, it's a lively place.

And

Gordy (host)

when

Matt Tramble (guest)

they come back, it's going to be that much more.

We

Gordy (host)

got the farmers market, we got the concerts on the square.

I mean, on and on and on.

Tomorrow night's concerts on the square.

This weekend

Matt Tramble (guest)

was art fair on the square, another amazing event.

There's a

John (host)

lot more parking though.

You can really kind of get around and

Matt Tramble (guest)

that

John (host)

should bring a lot of people

Matt Tramble (guest)

into the city again.

There is.

I do hear that at times that some people don't think there's enough parking.

There's actually lots and lots of parking down here.

Lots of parking.

It is at times hiding in plain sight.

You can always go to our website and check that out.

out, but there is actually quite a bit of parking.

John (host)

By the way, people should use the apps.

Matt Tramble (guest)

The parking

John (host)

apps are fantastic.

Matt Tramble (guest)

That is true.

And again, if you just go to VisitDowntownMadison.com, you can find out where all of the parking is available.

And in real time, check the city's lots.

Gordy (host)

DowntownMadison.com, right?

Matt Tramble (guest)

Visit DowntownMadison.

But for this weekend, for Maxwell Street Days, to find out all the vendors who are going to be there, all the other details, that's MaxwellStreetDays.org.

Gordy (host)

OK.

you know concerts on the square tomorrow night because of the weather may be being concerned there might be some pretty good chance that there's gonna be rain or storms but there's a you can do it on Thursday yeah so there's rained

Matt Tramble (guest)

out so not not that actually is an event that the bid produces however in close contact with their organizers and you know they always have a backup date

Gordy (host)

which is always

Matt Tramble (guest)

the

Gordy (host)

next day so if

Matt Tramble (guest)

you just follow their news and if they call that usually call it relatively early

Gordy (host)

about three

Matt Tramble (guest)

o'clock or so

Gordy (host)

yeah yeah

But but

Matt Tramble (guest)

I know they're they're rain are shine until they absolutely cannot be

Gordy (host)

right.

Matt Tramble (guest)

Just pay attention to their feeds

Gordy (host)

Okay, but once again Maxwell Street days Thursday through Sunday and the website one more time Maxwell Street days org

Matt Tramble (guest)

all right

Gordy (host)

Matt Trammell always great to see you great to see you too.

Thank you for having me Yeah, come back again.

Okay.

Well, all right.

We'll talk to you probably around the next time for night market Yes, absolutely can't wait to come back.

Excellent.

Thanks again.

You very good.

Hey, we want to remind you you can win a pizza party with John

John and Gordy and Sugar River Pizza.

That's right.

your workplace or office place?

for a pizza party, courtesy of Sugar River Pizza.

We're anticipating winning the best of Madison just to let you know.

We're in the finals.

We're in the finals.

But we won't know until end of September.

They don't announce the winners until the October issue of Madison Magazine, which comes out toward the end of September.

So we're on pins and needles, told them.

I know.

Have you ever been on pins and needles before?

What kind of question is that?

It's not comfortable.

Is that

John (host)

Dave Clark 5 songs?

Gordy (host)

Nah, there was a song like that.

Yeah, there's just a

John (host)

Dusty Springfield.

Gordy (host)

Sure.

Oh, okay.

Alright.

Never mind.

I can

John (host)

go forever.

Gordy (host)

I don't mind this thing.

Somebody thought I

John (host)

might have gotten a Tesla.

I did not get a Tesla.

It's a Kia.

Kia.

EV6.

Yeah.

The high-tech package.

Okay.

With not-too-easy manuals to read through.

Gordy (host)

Is it a stick shift?

John (host)

No.

There's no shift.

Gordy (host)

There's no shift at all.

There's

John (host)

just a big knob, right?

Yeah, a knob that goes to Reverse Park.

and drive.

Gordy (host)

Does it have a steering wheel?

Or is it a joystick?

John (host)

It still has a steering wheel.

Okay.

Yeah.

Okay.

Gives you that old time feel.

Gordy (host)

Is that American?

Okay, never mind.

Oh, it doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter.

All right.

All right.

What do we got here?

I have something here.

John (host)

I have something here.

Yeah.

Gordy (host)

We only have a

John (host)

minute.

Thanks, Dom.

It's

Gordy (host)

just written all

John (host)

over the party here.

All right, here we go.

Well, okay.

And you got to consider the

What?

Gordy (host)

What is your problem?

Time

John (host)

just keeps checking off and I keep losing more and more time.

The

Gordy (host)

clock continues to tick.

We've got

John (host)

stuff coming up.

Gordy (host)

I

John (host)

want to get to something that Breitbart is pushing.

Breitbart hasn't forgotten about the word Antifa.

So they decided to use Antifa over and over again in one of their stories.

And I just want to warn you that Antifa really isn't out there, but they're saying it is.

Gordy (host)

OK, we'll have more on that.

And leftovers coming up right around the corner on John and Gordy in the morning.

SPEAKER_03

But you think

John (host)

92.7 on your radio, though.

You can also get us on the Civic Media app

Unknown Co-host

anywhere in the world.

You can call us with a last minute phone call here, 608-879-8255.

This portion of the show brought to you by Madison Hearing Aid Center.

Go to their website, MadisonHearingAidCenter.com.

You can take a hearing test there or set up an appointment.

They're at 4706 Cottage Grove Road in Madison.

Helping people change their lives by not just selling hearing aids, but improving the quality of life through better hearing.

It's MadisonHearingAidCenter.com.

Again, give them a call.

608-249-4077.

That's 608-249-4077, Madison Hearing Aid Center.

John (host)

All right, then here's something.

Ice agents face 700% spike in assaults as Antifa groups target their homes.

They didn't know this, did you?

Antifa, where does this come from?

Breitbart seems to have a handle on all of this late information.

Now, Megas are blaming

Antifa, we haven't heard that in a long time, so they thought, well, let's bring that one back.

Antifa, it must be them, right?

I wonder if they're wearing the masks.

Anyway, they're blaming Antifa for incendiary comments about ice agents with some comparing these ice agents to Nazis as well.

See, you know, that's why they're the 700% spike in assaults.

because Antifa knows where these people live.

Really?

Even though they're wearing masks and we don't know who they are.

And they have no identification.

Unknown Co-host

And they're not going to give up

John (host)

any identification.

But they're the targets now somehow.

Antifa.

Yeah.

I guess Joaquin Jeffries is also a part of Antifa because last month he said,

Every single one of them and these are ice agents no matter what it takes no matter how long it takes We will identify them and I think you know what that's a great threat We should we should threaten these individuals taking the law into their own hands Working for the fascists we should threaten them

No, I really think it is a good idea.

I mean, why not?

They're breaking the law.

As far as we know, they're not identifying themselves.

They're not getting court orders.

Of course, all I need is a warrant from an ICE agent at headquarters to send them out and do this, but they don't even show those to people.

They don't do anything.

They don't help people out.

And again, I think this is something that we should threaten them with.

And if we threaten them that they'll eventually be held accountable for what they're doing, maybe they won't do it.

Maybe that's the weapon that Democrats should be wielding at this point.

Unknown Co-host

Well, I don't know.

I don't know if threatening ICE agents is something I'd

John (host)

want to do.

Well, you're not threatening them.

I guess maybe you are.

You're warning them saying if they participate in these illegal actions, then they're going to be held accountable to

Unknown Co-host

it.

How are they gonna be held accountable if we don't know who they are?

I mean, I

John (host)

but I'm Tifa knows I'm just I'm fascinated by the fact that and Tifa is all part of this.

Well, that's threat.

Oh Calling these agents these ice agents Nazis.

Oh boy, but you know what?

Antifa is anti fascist right and they always forget that

They treat it like an acronym.

It's an anti-fascist group.

And by the way, they're not organized.

They don't have headquarters any place.

They just happen when they're needed.

they happen.

That's the wonderful thing about Antifa.

Okay.

Or some people have said Antifa, right?

I have a hard time adapting to that one.

Unknown Co-host

That's supposedly the correct pronunciation, but nobody says it that

John (host)

way.

Right?

Yeah.

I don't know.

I don't know why they say it that way.

You can say it any way you want.

I'm all for freedom of

Unknown Co-host

speech.

Thank God.

You're there to hold up the ban for freedom.

John (host)

We rely on you, John.

Well, it's because, you know, I'm there for you.

Thank God.

All right.

Oh, you know, I thought this was by the way, we're talking about great ideas.

You know me threatening these ICE agents, you know with prosecution if they keep doing what they're doing when the Democrats take over.

How about this judge orders a stop to immigration arrest in Southern California based on the lack of probable cause?

I didn't think of that, but I thought this was a great angle to it.

The judge ordered the DHS.

They must stop.

All of these arrests because they don't have reasonable reasonable suspicion.

Unknown Co-host

Yeah, that's

John (host)

just crazy

Unknown Co-host

reasonable suspicion

John (host)

So they're just going out arresting people gathering people up taking them away.

Yeah sweeping them off the streets, but they don't have any Just cause probable cause to do this.

Yeah, they're supposed to

Yeah, you would think you know or else you could just pick people up and take them away That's kind of what they're doing by the way if they're doing that so I Didn't think of this particular angle on it, but I do like it again.

We can threaten those ice agents all we want If they participate in these illegal actions, so we're gonna come back.

We're gonna come for you

Unknown Co-host

and the new Budget bill is giving them billions of dollars to expand ice and to you know support them.

John (host)

Oh,

Unknown Co-host

yeah

out there all over the USA.

John (host)

We're going to have the military in every city and every park and every school.

They're going to be just hanging out.

It's going to be a way of life in this country.

That's not what people voted for.

Right?

I don't know.

You know, the Republicans have always liked militia groups.

And I guess they kind of like the look of carrying a firearm on your side, walking down the sidewalk, threatening

Unknown Co-host

people.

The interesting times we live in.

Yeah.

Where

John (host)

does it go from here?

Okay.

Well, we'll find out, right?

Unknown Co-host
