Now, from the John McKinnon Student Ice Arena, here's the radio play-by-play voice of the hockey Huskies, Dirk Hemroff.

All right, thank you very much.

Welcome, Husky Hockey fans, from the John McGinnis to the Nice Street.

It seemed like we just got done playing, and it wasn't that long ago.

The Huskies coming off a sweep against number 14 Minnesota here at the Mac Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

And now Michigan Tech will take their first road trip of the season, heading to St.

Cloud State University in St.

Cloud, Minnesota.

Head coach is with us here this morning for the first show back at the Bobbles and Media Center.

Bill McCulloch.

Coach, congratulations again on the weekend and the sweep against Minnesota.

You got a day into it now.

I'm guessing you gave the guys the day off yesterday.

Yeah, thanks, Dirk.

Obviously exciting weekend, but we had a good day yesterday.

Did a lot of video individual teaching and team teaching, but obviously with games on Saturday and Sunday, you know, just important to get some rest.

As you look back at film and did you have a chance to look at it back at a lot of film?

What did you see that maybe you didn't see on the bench?

You know, we had a lot of bright spots up and down Our lineup a lot of really good things.

I don't think it was a traditional first opening weekend of of hockey by both teams I thought it was an exciting fast-paced game.

I think Saturday or sorry Sunday on the second period we kind of got a

We came out in a tremendous first period.

Could have had a couple goals and give their goalie credit.

He played well.

DePasco made some big saves.

I didn't like our second period.

We were extending shifts.

We were trading chances.

We were kind of falling into the game that Minnesota would like to play.

Challenged our team.

Obviously huge penalty kill there in the...

the third period.

I know they got one late, but I just really liked the last 10 minutes of the game.

I thought we played rock solid, and then we got a power play and made it count.

Yeah, going back to some of the rule changes right to that Saturday game where we're up by one, they pulled the gold tender.

And I talked to Bernie yesterday.

I said, Bernie, I went back and watched the highlights of that last couple of seconds.

See, I said, you looked really tired.

He goes, I forgot all about the no timeout after an icing.

Thanks, Kenny.

Burned all his energy before the timeout and had to stay out there and somehow those guys kept the puck out of the net.

But little things like that can make a difference, right, Coach?

For sure.

I mean, it's a it's a rule change and it's a little bit different.

So even if you if the opposing team dumps it in from in the neutral zone now on net and the goalie freezes that you can't you can't change or call a timeout.

So there's a some wrinkles that

you know, obviously.

And I thought we did a great job.

But you know, last 10 minutes of Sunday's game, I mean, there was a lot of icings, you know, we were able to just get fresh legs out and out change opposition.

A couple of the new guys that we already talked about for the Huskies, but Luke Shipley and Lucas Brenton out there after two games, coach, we talked to you after one game, but after two games, your assessment of those two new Huskies in their play?

Well, I thought Lucas Brenton was just

the way that he defended and matchups, we put him out there against, you know, Zeemer, Cullen, Bernovic, and then, you know, they made a little bit of an adjustment bringing Humphries up, but I mean, he was just a man out there, and, you know, he won so many 50-50 pucks.

I thought Luke Shipley was excellent, made some really quality plays, and, you know, he's getting more and more comfortable every day with our system.

We talked about Owen Bartoskevic and his cool and calmness

in very hectic situations.

We saw that really both nights with him coach and there was some scrambling going on in front of his net there, but he stayed right square to the puck the whole time.

Yeah, he made some saves look easy, an elementary.

I was really good to see and then I thought he played the puck extremely well and it's an area that we've worked on but anytime you can hold a team to three goals over the course of the week and I like our chances.

There were times when the puck was wrapped in by Minnesota and he thought about doing his normal go back there and try to get it but if he thought he wasn't going to be able to completely stop it.

He stayed in the net with the new ruling of the trapezoid there and that's already he's he's had to kind of alter his game a little bit.

Yeah, that's a good talking point It's something that we you know talking with our defenseman about is just don't assume that he's gonna be able to play every puck because Obviously with the trapezoid there there's certain areas where he can no longer play the puck and you saw that on a play

I think in the second period Sunday it comes in and it took a weird kick and next thing you know it's off the side of the net and then it's a bang bang play to the slot and I think they actually ended up hitting the post on it.

And the other thing too I guess I didn't even think about till I watched the games this weekend but if a goal tender goes back there on a wrap in

on a dump in along the boards and is not able to completely stop it and it trickles into the corner.

Well, now you're really vulnerable, right?

So that mindset has to play into whether or not you go or not.

Yeah, no question.

So it's a little bit of an adjustment period.

It's just something that we've got to continue to get used to and adjust to and really sprint back and give them options.

Bill McCalters with us, the head coach of the Huskies.

We've got

Coming up later on in the show, Matthew Van Blericombe, who was named the C-C-H-A, forward of the week.

We talked to him coach, and what a tremendous series he had.

I know he was a little dinged up going in, and questionable whether he was going to play.

Thank goodness he did play.

Yeah, he was fantastic for us this weekend.

There's no doubt about it.

That line of Tom Lepa, Carson Bernie.

you know they play against other teams top line and not just check them created offense and they're just I mean they're just dogs you know they they hunt and they work and they play the right way and they they know they just feed off each other so well they're just smothering I just so much confidence and trust in them but yeah it's great to see you know Maddie get rewarded and create some you know

Finish off some plays.

It was a big time.

You know, he was such a skinny 19 year old last year when he got here and But very athletic, right?

And towards the end of the season he really kind of came on He looks like he's bulked up and I think he told us that he bulked up a little bit, right?

I mean, I I think it's probably 12 pounds heavier and solid it's solid rock solid muscle But he just looks so much more comfortable

It takes players time.

These guys are still young and they're developing and they're growing and they're maturing.

But he's gotten stronger in the weight room and he's got more confidence in the ice and he practices every day.

He's got that size to go with that power now.

All right, we'll take a quick time out.

We'll be back with the head coach, Bill McCult.

It's the Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey Radio Show.

The Huskies coming off a sweep against Minnesota, and now head to Minnesota to take on St.

Cloud State University.

The other Huskies this Friday and Saturday night.

We'll have both broadcast for you right here on the voice of the Huskies, MIX 93 WKMJ.

Back with more of the show right after these.

Our family likes to keep busy.

Between hockey and volleyball dominating our weekends and all the travel that comes with it, we still make sure to squeeze in some outdoor adventures.

We need insurance simplified, and that's what Turbo provides.

Whether you're working with Jeff Mickish, Mike Micola, or Dale Caro in Hancock, or Ryan Reapy in Marquette, Turbo simplifies insurance for us.

Turbo Agency is a provider of auto owners insurance.

Right now, I'm holding a perfectly ice-cold Coors Light.

You know how I know it's the perfect temperature?

Because the mountain on the can is blue, and also it's really cold.

Every Coors Light is cold filtered, cold-loggered, and cold-packaged.

Notice how many times I said cold?

Three times.

It's that cold.

So make sure the mountain on your can of Coors Light is blue, because that means it's ready to enjoy.

2019 Coors Brewing Company, Golden Colorado, celebrate responsibly.

Go Huskies!

I'll go back here on MIX93.

We're coming to you from the Bob Olson Media Center in the John McGinnis Student Ice Arena.

The Huskies getting set to take on St.

Cloud State University.

Great game between the beavers of Bemidji and St.

Cloud last Saturday night.

They only played one game because the rake is just getting the renovations.

for St.

Cloud just finished up, so they wanted to make sure they had that extra weekend.

So it was going to be a home and home.

They'll finish up the home and home later on in the season.

But great contest between the Beavers and the St.

Cloud State Huskies.

St.

Cloud is who Michigan Tech will play Friday and Saturday night down there.

And coach, I know the guys are probably looking forward to taking this team on the road, getting that bonding experience for the first time this season.

yeah for sure it's always good to get on the road and spend some time together and I know we're you know building the words out and it's on to on the next weekend now it's a big weekend and ahead of us and these non-conference games are so critical and so important for the national tournament at the end of the year so you know the focus is definitely shifted and a

new

coach there too, two weeks in a row.

We play a team that has a new coach, Oliver, getting the nod at St.

Cloud State University.

They have a player on the team that you coached and there's a lot of moving parts going into this series.

Yeah, player I had at Lindenwood, Jake Southgate transferred to St.

Cloud in the offseason.

Nice player and yeah, so he'll be there and obviously

a new coach and that's their opening weekend at home, so it should be a really good atmosphere to play in.

Yeah, 11 million dollar renovation at St.

Cloud and looking forward to seeing what they've done with that building.

It's been a long time since we've played there.

We already talked about this a little bit, Coach.

Long time since we've played St.

Cloud, that was at Fargo in that NCAA Tournament.

I went back and watched the highlights for that this past.

I don't know why I do that to myself.

I watched the highlights of that game.

Oh, that was a tough one.

Yeah, no question.

We talked a little bit about that, but you know what?

I'm looking forward to this weekend.

All right, so

the guys that did not play coach, the guys that are right on the bubble, how much of this week's practicing, only a couple of days before you head on the road, it will determine on who you take and who you don't take.

Yeah, we're actually going to take everybody on the road.

We just made a

a decision that you know it's really important and you know I really feel comfortable with the depth of this group I have confidence and trust we have a really good lineup you know it's a little bit of a mathematical problem 29 doesn't go into 21 very well but we're going to need everybody

You know and the message is simple if you're in you know take advantage of it And if you're not keep going because your time's coming and everybody's adding value But be ready for that opportunity because when you get it, you know, you can you can take advantage of it.

So Yeah, we really like that our group and it is a short week, you know, we'll go Tuesday Wednesday We'll practice Thursday morning early and then get on the bus and travel

sounds good coach.

Thanks for your time here today.

We really appreciate it I'm looking forward to getting on the road

And getting to St.

Cloud and being able to watch this team play on the road in a different building.

And I know you are, too.

And good luck this week.

And we'll talk to you later in the week.

Thanks, Dirk.

Appreciate it.

Head coach Bill McCollum here on Mixed 93.

Welcome back to the Huskies Hockey Radio Show on a Tuesday morning.

Matthew Bambleracom named the forward of the week in the CCHM for three goals and an assist in the sweep over Minnesota.

Matthew, that had to feel pretty good.

You had three goals in that series.

Do you have one favorite out of those as you look back at them?

I mean, it's probably got to be the game winner.

I mean, on Saturday there, I mean, it was a beautiful pass from Parks and just got it on that, got through.

But I mean, that's, that got me fired up the most for sure.

Coming up the bench.

Michigan Tech picks it up instead of their own zone.

They've got numbers that they hurry back the other way.

As going down on the play was Hendrickson, but the Huskies turned it over.

Zebra with a steal.

His shot just sailed over the crossbar.

Huskies will pick up the loose puck, sent up ice.

Michigan Tech will set it down.

Evan Merv's going to have to hustle back for the Minnesota Golden Goalverse.

He'll swing it around.

Huskies picking up.

Was there any conversation between you and Parks in that little time that you had when he stole that puck up top of the zone there?

I saw when he was coming down he kind of looked over a bit but then he was faking shots so I just kind of just opened up for an option just in case he knew it and fed it right over just kind of a look and that's about it.

What about the first one?

The one that just kind of found its way through a bunch of people.

You seem to be ready for it but were you expecting that to come around?

I kind of

wasn't really expecting it to come through, but once I saw it kind of go through Leps's feet, there was someone maybe it could pop out to me, so I started just kind of getting into position where it was going, and it just found its way to me, really.

What about the empty net goal, which was quite the effort, too?

Yeah, once I once I got it in the zone I kind of I didn't really know the goal It was pulled to be honest But I like was just trying to get over the red get it in deep and and just keep it out of our zone So they couldn't score which was the biggest thing and I kind of looked up saw there's an empty net So I just chipped it got around the guy and I watched your back on video I did see Ellie going around the the far side, but I just kind of I had kind of tunnel vision towards the net there for sure

Okay, you talk a little bit about your development from this time last season 19 years old now you're 20 years old

How do you feel as a Husky compared to last year?

Yeah, no, I feel feel a lot different this year, especially health wise like last year I was battling battling through some some injuries and stuff but coming in this year just put on a bunch of weight got more and more training throughout the summer kind of just came in with a different mindset that I'm gonna

to just play my game not try and worry about anything else and just focus on getting better every day.

You were a little bit

banged

up right at the end of the week there.

Yeah I know at the end of the week I did get a little banged up but I mean that's not gonna stop me week to week like still at the end of the day you got to come out and perform and at that point it was just going out and doing it it's kind of a decision less than what my body feels like.

So talk about your line obviously you guys had a great weekend you guys are a combination that's been together for a long time now can you talk

a little bit about how that is going into the second year.

Yeah I mean Bernie

Ernie and Lapa are two phenomenal hockey players.

The way they play is hard nose and they love making plays.

And I mean, together we just work so well together.

And then those two guys kind of helped me out throughout the game all the time for sure.

And playing together last year built a lot of chemistry between...

Between where we are in the D zone shutting guys down and then getting into the old zone just where we are They know we know where to find each other so it makes it easy

Are you excited to take this team on the road and see what what can happen at St.

Cloud?

Oh, yeah, I'm pumped to to get more into this season here and go on the road It's gonna be a big test against St.

Cloud and the more we play the more more confidence we build as a team and that's and The more pressure situations you get into the better we get on school going for you pretty good.

It's been it's been kind of a tough start with

Just keep myself busy with hockey and then trying to find time for school work, obviously.

But put knit first is a big thing.

Just staying on top of it is a big, big part.

Congratulations on a great start to your sophomore season.

Good luck this week in Matthew.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

All right, Matthew Bamblericom here on the show.

And we've got much more coming your way here on Mix 93 WKMJ.

Let me grab my car keys and we'll

roll.

We're still going to that new bar downtown.

Yeah, it's supposed to be fun.

Lexi, give me driving directions from home to downtown bar district.

Auto correct.

Suggest Uber.

Pick up home.

Drop off downtown bar district.

No, I'm driving.

Suggest the metro bus.

Departing in 12 minutes.

Point taken, Lexi.

We'll grab a ride.

If you drink, don't drive.

Decide to ride.

Back here at the match Durkheim braff on mix 93 WKMJ and the Michigan Tech Huskies hockey radio show and Michigan Tech will be at St.

Cloud State University if you missed any of the games from last the scores from last weekend bowling green on Friday lost to Michigan by a score of 7 to 2 Wolverines were able to win on Saturday as well a 4 to 3 final there bowling green I remember right had a yes had a 2-0 lead going into the second period but the Wolverines pumped in 3

during the second, and the teams traded off a couple of goals in the third.

But Bowling Green comes out without a win that weekend, even though they played it pretty well at times.

Northern Michigan split their series with Miami.

Wildcats winning 3-0 on Friday night to get the first win of the season in their first game.

But Miami came back and won by a score of 4-1.

Redhawks never trailing in that Saturday night game, went up 2-0, ended up winning 4-2.

Ferris State ended up tying Canisius 5-5 after a shutout loss on Friday night.

So Ferris State gets a tie and a loss on the weekend in non-conference play.

And Lake Superior State took on Windsor over the weekend.

The Friday score, do I have a Friday score?

2-2 in overtime and Saturdays was in favor of Lake Superior State by a score of five to two.

Augustano fell to North Dakota in exhibition play.

Four to one was the final on Friday night.

And Minnesota State defeated Manitoba on Friday night by a score of three to one.

Those are some of the other out of town scores for you from over the weekend.

And again, the Huskies with a sweep over Minnesota.

Three to final on Friday night, three one on Saturday night.

And now we'll take on St.

Claude State University this Friday and Saturday night.

from St.

Cloud, and that will be the first time the Huskies have been there since 2012, and should be some great hockey.

The Huskies will play at 8.07 on Friday night, 7.30 pre-game here on Mix 93 WKMJ, one hour earlier on Saturday night, a 7.07 drop of the puck, 6.30 pre-game on Mix 93.

Other games going on this weekend, Bowling Green will be at Sacred Heart on Friday, that'll be a seven o'clock start.

It will be the Alaska Nanooks who will be the next opponent for Michigan Tech after the St.

Cloud Huskies.

Alaska will be at Boston College this weekend.

Other games going on.

Northern Michigan will be down at one of the highest ranked teams of the nation.

Michigan State this weekend.

That'll be at Manna Ice Arena.

Friday night's game is a 7-30 start.

Former CCHA member, St.

Thomas will be hosting Air Force.

Lake Superior State University will be at Lindenwood on Friday at 8.

Bemidji State will be hosting North Dakota, I believe that is a home and home series, as North Dakota will indeed host on Saturday night at Ralph Angleston Arena.

Augustana will be hosting Minnesota Duluth Friday night at 8.07.

Minnesota State and Wisconsin.

We'll battle each other this weekend.

First game will be in Mankato.

That'll be an 8-0-7 start.

Maverick's trying to get a non-conference win there, and actually both games are at Mankato.

And both are... Saturday night's game will be a 7-0-7 start.

Those are the games coming up.

Besides the Michigan Tech Huskies taken on the St.

Cloud State Huskies again.

Friday night's game at 8-0-7, 7-30 pre-game here on MIX 93.

Saturday night at 7-0-7.

here on MIX 93 as well.

Don't forget big football for Michigan Tech as they will be home against Grand Valley State University.

That is a noon start.

Josh will be on the air at 1030 with, sorry, at 11 with the tailgate pregame show brought to you by Rage Bank.

The mighty Grand Valley State Lakers coming in to take on the Huskies.

Huskies looking for a big upset then.

Tickets are available for that game.

In fact, you can still get VIP single game tickets through tomorrow.

Contact the ticket office at

by huskies tickets.com or actually for VIP.

I think you need to call or stop in.

Phone number is 906-487-2073.

So the Huskies ranked 12th in the nation after their sweep against Minnesota State.

Minnesota dropped to number 20 on the USCHO.com and again congratulations to Matthew Van Blericom.

He was awarded the

honor of being the CCHA forward of the week with three goals and an assist.

So again, we'll have the broadcast for you Friday night.

Make sure you tune on in.

We're looking forward to it.

The Huskies will head on the road Thursday and the first road weekend of the 2026-27 season is upon us.

Hope you enjoyed the show.

Thanks to all of our sponsors and thanks to Sam Sears back at our studio engineering the program.

Dirk Embraer for head coach Bill McCall saying so long and we'll hear you on the games this weekend from St.

We're pretty healthy and we're really just rolling right now.

Everything's kind of, the chips are falling in our favor right now.

I know you had the bounce back after you lost to Platteville.

You kind of feel like you're back

in sync now.

Yeah, definitely, you know, Platteville was definitely not our best showing that night.

We had a rough night.

I think nerve got us a little bit adrenaline running high.

I'm excited to play them again.

But yeah, since then we've been playing really well.

We've kind of got back on track and we're just really focused on the next match.

One of the time here,

right?

And you don't want to stub your toe and you always know that some crazy things can happen in the original center

match.

Can't they?

Absolutely.

Coming into that Richland Center gym, there's a lot of excitement.

It's a big gym to play in.

There's a lot of pressure coming in to that match.

We always want to come in and do well.

And it's a rivalry for a reason.

So we're hoping to come in and just control our side and get the job done.

And when you match up with them, how do you match up well against Richland Center?

We do match up well.

I think that we are the more experienced team.

I got a lot of seniors this year and the group that's been playing together has been playing together between two and three years now.

If not, you know, the seniors since seventh grade together.

So I think experience will really help us.

Jamie's got a lot of, you know, a little bit of a younger group this year.

Definitely some senior leaders as well, but I think all in all my experience should hopefully push us through.

Of course, Ella Myers has had a great year for you so far, and I think the key thing was other people around, you know, coming up and some other hitters, because she's going to draw a lot of attention, and I think you've been able to develop some of those other players, haven't you?

Yeah, absolutely.

We have had, you know, Ella is an amazing athlete and an amazing player.

I'm very lucky to have her, and yeah, she does draw a lot of attention, but in that too, she can pull a lot of blockers.

And everybody's looking for us to go to her first, so that really gives our other hitters a lot of chances to kind of get out there too and show what they have as well and be game players as well.

How many talk about leadership and whatnot?

Josie Mahoney, one of those players that plays well, it's kind of like you forget she's out there, don't you?

Yes, she's definitely the quarterback of our team and the leader.

She has worked really hard.

to get to where she is today.

And she puts in a lot of work in the off season and in the weight room.

She's a strong leader for us.

I definitely have a great relationship with her.

Her and I talk a lot about our game plans.

And I don't think we would be where we were at.

We're at without her.

When you look at the rest of this week, what else do you have going on,

Mariah?

This is it for us.

We only have one match this week, which is really nice.

It'll give us a good few days to just rest and recover this week.

have a couple practices, keep it kind of light and easy, and then get prepared for next week.

Two matches next week and senior night on Tuesday against Dodgeville.

And then, of course, we go back against Platteville again.

So kind of a big week next week, so it's nice to only have one match this week.

Yeah, absolutely.

And then the seating meeting is coming up.

Who are some of the teams that are going to be in your half sectional?

You know, we have Richmond Center is in with us.

We have Dodgeville.

Let me think.

I can't think of who else is with Varroqua.

Varroqua is going to be, I think, the contender that they're going to be looking to kind of be up high with us.

So a lot of solid teams.

I mean, I'm excited to get into the sectionals and just kind of see where we land and how we can play.

It goes back to 0-0 after that.

So it's a brand new season, really, when you get into regionals.

Right.

That's when you've got to kind of prove

yourself again,

don't you?

Yeah, absolutely.

Sounds good.

Well, good luck.

Can you get ready for original center tonight, Mariah?

All right, thank you.

Mariah, he'll join us at WRCO Sports.

First on center coach Jamie Johnson joins us.

Jamie is ready for River Valley.

How's the team playing these days?

Well, we had a rough weekend over at the tournament over in Lodi.

Some great competition over there.

And you know, we ended up going one and two and pull play.

Lost to a Belleville team who I felt we maybe could beat.

Lost to them in three.

Auburn Dale is really good.

You know, we're kind of still fighting the injury bug.

trying to get everybody back and playing there.

And then we lost to Auburn Dale, who, again, is getting some recognition there and a 20-plus-1 team.

And then we kind of got a weird fluke tiebreaker and got put into the gold division.

So we got to face some even better competition yet.

Chippewa Falls in the semifinals of the gold division, and they were able to beat us.

And then we played Lodi there for third place.

We took the first set, but we weren't able to finish off the match.

So, you know, it's been hit and miss, different injuries, two or three different injuries and trying to get that going.

But, you know, we're really kind of focusing tonight, you know, getting back to where we started the season at.

We're hoping fingers crossed that we have our full lineup tonight.

We haven't had a lot of practice together.

in our positions that way but you know we got valley so you just got to be ready to bring it and and people have to be ready to step in at any moments notice no matter what position the game so we'll see what we bring tonight.

When you match up with River Valley, of course, it kind of starts with Ella Myers, but last time you had difficulty with a couple of the other hitters on the outsides.

Yeah, they did.

And Ella drives that bus for them because you have to kind of hold on your block.

She gets so many attempts.

And so then they utilize her well and the outside hitters take advantage of that, you know, when our middle blockers got to kind of wait just a little bit more and read that set.

And then sometimes we don't always close.

on that block and allow them some free hits.

You know, we definitely didn't bring our best blocking game.

Just our technique was off that night.

You know, just, you know, be honest, it was, it was poor.

So hopefully, you know, we've gotten better since then.

We worked a little bit on it last night.

They definitely, the offense and defense definitely go hand in hand, of course, but I think that's even gonna be more crucial tonight.

With seeding coming up, is that something that's important for seeding for the Hornets or not?

Oh, absolutely.

I mean, a win here against the projected, I would guess the projected top seed in River Valley.

River Valley is probably going to be the number one seed.

Even if we beat them, I think they'll still be the number one seed.

You know, that would go a long ways for us, especially since we lost to Belleville and Fenimore, who's in our sectional net seeding.

One thing, though, with electronic seating is our strength of schedule.

And though we had that tiebreaker that put us into the gold division and we weren't able to get the wins, that still factors in somewhat on how that's going to go.

When you play D1, Chippewa Falls, who's now like 27 and 5 or 27 and 7, that's just going to bolster our strength of schedule.

And we had a stronger strength of schedule than most teams in the sectional.

So it'll be interesting.

Nobody knows the exact formula.

We missed some opportunities the last two weekends, I feel, to get some extra wins that would have pushed us over the 20 win mark.

We have two matches that won't count in that electronic seating and some more winnable type matches that could have pushed us there.

So it's unfortunate that way, but we just got to stay the course.

And when it comes to it, there is an appeal process, which electronic seating does not have that in other sports, I believe.

So we are new with this, with electronic seating and appeal.

And we'll probably definitely look to appeal or consider those things as we've had the injuries and just other obstacles we've had overcome this year.

So then we'll see what happens at those meetings.

But a win tonight would definitely go a long ways for us.

What about anything special going on before this match or anything, Jamie?

No, we actually in the girls cleared this one because the rivalry.

They didn't want any distractions back in August.

So like, uh, that's why we kind of doubled up last week, you know, in a sense that they know the importance of this match.

What it could have been, you know, back in August with the conference, um, you know, we have a, you know, chance to play spoiler tonight.

Um, we're kind of out of the hunt for a conference, but, um,

you know, maybe we could hurt River Valley's chances, you know, with a win tonight.

So, you know, you can, everyone enjoys playing spoiler, if possible.

So a lot of things going on there.

Um, next week though, we do have some,

uh,

we have our homecoming game and then our senior night, uh, next week.

So, um, kind of weird having homecoming at the last week of the season.

So, um, we'll see how that goes.

Sounds good.

Good luck as you get ready for River Valley and the rest of the way, Jamie.

Thank you.

You bet.

Getting it back on the other side.

Some of the students must have went to their parents' closets for the get-ups tonight.

Here's the serve fielded.

Bella DaVini will return to the lineup.

And Richland Center will serve.

Ella Clements with a job to do.

There is the serve.

Fueled by DaVini, Mahoney right side and knuckling it over that time is Myers.

Quick set for Weiss, her shot walks.

Straight up and down it goes.

Great block kill by Brooklyn White.

And River Valley has 10 points now.

13-10.

Serving for River Valley is senior Kylie Smith.

Kylie with the whistle and then there is the serve.

Fielded near side, nice dig there by the Horns.

Passed the left side and Weiss dropped it over.

It is out of bounds.

River Valley is trying to make a play at it, but it doesn't look like they touched it, and that'll make it 13-11.

River Valley within two, and Smith will serve.

Loads this one near side, cut off by Wurz, back to the right side, taken over by Weiss.

Free ball back by the Black Hawks and out of bounds, and the Hornets get a point.

14-11.

Into the lineup or back in I should say as Jabri Cole said Kylie burns back in the front row for Richland Center And here comes the serve for Cole said cut off by Myers Mahoney with a set on the right side Taking the angle there on the shot is white back to the net burns down over on hit number two and a horse take a four-point lead 15 11 Kylie burns a senior with a smart play

And the Hornets will serve again up by four here in the opener.

Colested with the approach, serves it near side, fielded out by the Black Oaks.

Mahoney to Myers takes it over, all fielded by Bricko.

Colested right side burns, takes it over to Vinny, got a hand on it.

Mahoney punches it over, fielded by the Hornets, going left side, punching it through the wall and down it goes for Adeline Werks.

And the Hornets take a five point lead.

16 to 11.

Adelen Rertz with point number two and serving is Aubrey Colstead, RC by five.

This one fielded by the Vinnie, Mahoney over on hit number two, diving Dick Gander, punched over by Weiss.

Here's the set by Mahoney, right side Birchfield as it blocks.

Birchfield drives it back, nice play Bricko, set left side, taking it down the line is worth.

Kept wide by the black ox, the Vinnie gets it over.

Back row, Bricko to Colestead, left side taking a hit is worse and it is out of bounds.

So a point back for River Valley that makes it 16-12.

Hornets by four, Braylon taps, rotates in to serve.

Blackhawk's trying to get back on track and here is the serve.

Farside burns on the left, gets a right back from Colestead, takes the angle, the Vinny can't play it and the Hornets take a five point lead again.

17-12, Richland Center, in the lead, and back to serve is Adeline Werks.

Werks back, and ready with a whistle.

Here's the run-up, and the ball is going to be cut off by Myers.

Ball at the net.

Blocked down by Elevee Weiss.

She gets a block kill and makes it 18-12.

Time out again for River Valley.

Horns by six here in the opener.

That makes it 18-13.

Hornets, their biggest lead a moment ago.

Now it's down to five and Bella LaVinny will serve for River Valley.

Here's Bella's serve with a left hand.

Fielded now by Bailey, past near side.

Weiss, nice hit.

Saved by LaVinny, but it counts into the stands.

And the Hornets go up 19-13 in the opener.

Ella Clements will return to the front left for the Horts and serving will be number four.

Payton Bricko.

Bricko with a serve.

Hornets back up by six.

That's going to be an ace.

And the Hornets lead it 20-13.

Bricko with a great serve.

That is the first ace of the game.

And Brico will serve again.

Here it is.

Fielded now by Myers.

Mahoney back to Ella.

She'll put the smack down.

That makes it 2014.

River Valley has just not had enough of those tonight where they could get it to Ella.

Hornets have kind of kept her at bay and the serve belongs to River Valley.

Blackhawks down by six.

Mahoney with a serve.

Bailey feels it.

Colstead passes.

Clements takes the shot into the net.

20 to 15 River Valley down by five.
