It's really really wet.
That's it seal air folks drive safely Yeah, it's it's soggy.
So and the riverbanks are they're up.
So really honestly, you know, this is Thursday And we're still looking at Friday Saturday where the the water levels would be high the flow will be high Honestly, unless you're a white water
kayak or I would probably stay out of the pine.
The good news, it does help us out a little bit because when we get flooding, even minor flooding, sometimes it can erode some of those blockages we've been fighting against.
So that's not all completely bad news.
I would
probably tell most folks and trout fishermen are going to know this too.
The pine is probably not a friendly place to be.
It's going to be muddy.
It's going to take a little while for the riverbanks to come down.
Still raining as of today on Thursday.
So I really think with all of the events we have going on with Center Color Fest weekend, this weekend, and the colors on the trees are starting to really pop.
I think
We're probably going to advise that everybody stay off the river at this point.
Now, we did have before this rain and before the river banks went up, we did have some real adventurous kayakers who were very experienced that had gone down through from Rockbridge down to Bowens Mill.
And they said there were probably two or three blockages.
They had to portage around, but they were warned ahead of time.
They knew it was going to be difficult and they enjoyed it.
So really.
Unless you are very experienced and you know that you're in for a bit of an adventure, I would stay off the pine this weekend.
Well, yeah.
Where do you start?
There's a lot happening.
Now on Friday, we had questioned this when I was on earlier on the morning show with you.
But yes, the 80 German warehouse, they do have live music on October 2nd, Friday, kind of kicking things off with Tim Eddy.
And so he'll be playing at the lounge in the 80 German warehouse from five o'clock to eight o'clock this Friday.
So I'd say, go ahead, enjoy that music.
And then also wheels of time.
The truck contractor show at the Richland County Fairground starts on Friday and I've all you know I was out there yesterday
on Wednesday, and the Alice Chalmers are already showing up.
They will represent.
And I met the Durst boys driving more there yesterday after I had been out there.
So I think you'll have an impressive Alice Chalmers display.
So that runs.
The Wheels of Time Truck and Tractor show runs at the Fairgrounds Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
So you'll get a chance.
They also have a tractor ride that you'll be able to get a good look at.
I believe that Saturday morning.
if I remember correctly.
Again, everything I'm telling you you can find at greater richlandtourism.com Just go to our calendar of events then again on Saturday during the day the friendship quilters guild their quilt show is at Schmidt Woodland Hills from 10 to 4 and then they do that again on Sunday 10 to 3 Then awkward fruit farm has their customer appreciation days.
I was just up with Judy yesterday She said we've had at least 40 of these so for 40
40 years.
It started in the 80s, she said.
And I said, I don't remember that.
I was too young then.
But yeah, anyway.
So you can go up to Oakwood Fruit Farm this weekend for specials.
And I know they're doing a buy one, get one on a specific variety of their apples that I cannot remember.
But they have lots of apples.
It's been a good growing season.
The UW Richland Alumni Association has their fall brunch, and they'll be honoring five outstanding alumni, and they do ask for pre-registration.
Again, go to our calendar of events for that information.
Wild Hills Winery has their grape stomp and their festival.
They've got live music.
They'll have their wood-fired pizzas and some vendor displays.
That runs from 12 to 7, but then the really big show kicks off.
On Saturday night, there's two big activities.
The one that's kind of big is the Richland Center Canyon of Lights Parade.
That steps off at seven o'clock.
I know we have a lot of entries for that.
There's still time for those to register that would like to register.
But it's well registered.
There are gonna be a lot of entries.
But the truly big show, those were the days, the live radio show at the City Auditorium.
Phil, you're going to appear on the same stage as Houdini.
And
maybe not dressed as fine as Liberace, but that's a challenge for you.
Who knew who were better, Liberace or
know, I don't
Yeah, that's my brother, George.
Right.
Exactly.
Yeah.
And that's from six to nine.
And so there's I know you've got some surprises and some really cool stuff happening there.
And then on Sunday, there's kind of
wrap up with a lot of the events that are happening on Sunday, but also don't forget on Sunday, the 80 German warehouse has their tours on Sunday.
And I challenge locals to check that out, because it is very interesting.
And I know there's a lot of folks that have not been in the 80 German warehouse that are locals.
And just a reminder, a greater Richmond tourism, of course, is helping bring a lot of those events in the parade, but also neighborhood housing services and South
cap.
They are big sponsors helping to bring all of the events and the parade and everything to you.
So a lot going on this weekend.
I'd stay out of the river, stay dry.
The weather's supposed to be great.
Yes.
Actually, the weather will be good.
It's just going to take a while for the river to settle down.
always a great weekend in Lyme Ridge.
So yeah, Lyme Ridge, at the branding iron, I encourage you to get up there for the fish fry on Friday night, regular menu all the other times.
I believe they still have the special Scortino sausage.
sandwich.
Last night they still had them.
So I expect they'll still have that available.
That's really good.
But also then their own farm raised beef burgers and the regular menu on Saturday and Thursday night.
Just a just a great fish fry.
I have gotten a lot of feedback from that that they're like, you know, you were right on one thing in your life and their fish fry is very good.
Yep, that's they're doing.
Thank you for the reminder on that.
Jeffrey even won't have to come to my house and straighten me out.
You don't want that.
I don't.
That's that's a rough, rough thing.
John Saltweedle and his family, they have owned the store for 80 years.
And there are only been two owners of that store in its existence.
And it was the Saltweedle stores it's known now was originally started by
Everett Lee, who is the namesake for Lee Lake.
So that store has been there since almost like about 1920, I believe was when it was originally started.
And then the Salt Weedle family bought it and has operated for 80 years.
So they're having a really nice block party on Saturday afternoon.
You can head up, they're providing the pork.
They ask you just a goodwill offering to cover that.
And then they'll have beverages for sale.
They ask you bring a potluck item, just a side meal or a side food of some sort of salad or potatoes or something to share.
So it sounds like a really good time in CAS and the weather for all of the events sounds like it'll be great.
You bet, Phil.
Thank you.

Jamie Johnson joins us on WRCO Sports.
Jamie, getting ready for Dodgeville here, the second time around, what kind of a match do you expect tonight?
I expect a tougher match than the first time around.
I think we played them extremely well the first time.
I would love for the same results, but I felt that first time we played them
was probably one of the best matches I've ever been on the sidelines for.
We just did everything unbelievably outstanding that night.
Our serves we've been working on, low hard drive serves, and everyone was executing that.
Our serve receive was amazing.
We were running plays.
We were clicking, you know, they had a new coach.
So, you know, I expect them to be improved and, you know, they'd be like Lancaster and they'd be some other teams here.
And we just been battling injury and just other things all year.
That was the last time we actually had our full lineup was against Dodgeville over a month ago.
So that's been a grind for us there.
But hopefully we have some finally home cooking.
It's crazy.
I was doing a post and we're in the seventh week of the season.
We're finally having our second home game.
So it's been a grind and mentally challenging with a lot of obstacles to overcome this year.
Anything special planned for it now that you're back home again?
Yeah, we're actually combining two nights tonight is cancer awareness night So we normally do do a money collection between the first and second step We're actually going to do the miracle minute like other places do You know right after the national anthem The coaches get one minute to talk and we'll make sure we have that sometimes they don't always get that but
We'll have kids in the stands, you know, collecting money for Walk With Grace.
You know, we've been able to do, you know, that pretty consistently over the last few years.
And so it's, again, that pink night, October traditionally has been pink night for volleyball.
But we've just turned into cancer awareness because everyone, you'll see on the list tonight, how many different cancers just impact our local families.
And so it's obviously
near and dear to my heart.
It's impacted my mother-in-law, my father-in-law, my wife, my dad, my grandfather, my grandma.
So it's definitely something, a passion in my heart that I want to keep bringing awareness to.
And the tie-dye is also an honor of our former athletic trainer, Sharon Pansky, who passed away from her battle.
And she was a very vital part and part of that.
And when we got talking, she was going through her struggles
You know, there's more than just pink night.
There's all these different kinds.
So we kind of recall her and honor her yet and I like tonight as well.
So it's an emotional night that way, but we also have poster night afterwards.
So bring the kids, you know, the little ones come out and the varsity girls will sign posters afterwards.
So a lot going on.
We're excited.
Finally, again, to have a home game doesn't feel like we've had one this year.
It's kind of like, oh, what do I do after school?
What do I need to have ready for tonight?
We just haven't done that, so we're excited about the opportunity.
We'll have more from Jamie Johnson coming up on the pre-match show.

Jamie Johnson, Richland Center volleyball coach is our guest.
And Jamie, we talked a little bit about injuries earlier.
Are things getting any better?
No, actually, um, we, uh, started toying with some different, um, rotations either lineups last week.
Uh, we kept thinking LL would be back this moment and then we kind of kept things trying to keep it staffs quo.
We thought LL was going to be back.
And we get some setbacks.
And so we've tried some different lineups.
We still don't know.
She actually got to practice a little bit yesterday.
So that's encouraging.
So we'll see if she's available tonight.
Yes, to get cleared from how last night went and things.
So yeah, I don't know who my starting lineup is.
And I may not know when you come to ask me tonight.
But we'll have it.
But our girls have been.
Some girls have been playing different positions and stepping up.
And again, we just owe it to ourselves to try different lineups to get this group clicking again.
We just haven't been clicking.
We've been somewhat successful.
We're 17 and nine with seven of those losses, I think, are teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the state voting.
So I think our strength of schedule has prepared us for tonight.
And it doesn't matter in our minds.
It's kind of like wherever we put out there, we expect them to do their job and to come out with the win.
And then got the big weekend tournament, our last one with some outstanding teams again, teams like, I think there's three or four teams there that have over 20 some wins.
So we'll play some great competition, which will just help us prepare for a valley coming up.
Right, and you've got
the second time around on the conference.
Platteville, right now, the undefeated.
You've played them a couple of times, and obviously, they're putting together a pretty good resume this year, aren't they?
Yeah, they are.
They're like 21 and 3.
We knew it would be, I kind of said at the beginning, I thought they were the front runner with Austin Valley competing with the opportunities to do that.
We don't have to worry about them about the tournament run now, because they're in G2 this year.
But yeah, it's, you know, it's Valley and Platteville are just some great teams.
They're just having a great season.
And we're just hoping to kind of get Ella back healthy and get her into the lineup and get us going because when she's been healthy and, you know, we're in full strength, I think we're six and one with some great quality wins.
So we still have a lot to play for.
That's what we talked about last night.
It kind of stinks that you feel like you're already kind of out of the conference race before you have your second home match.
The schedule did not do us any favors this year because it gets hard and that's seven weeks with only one home match.
That's a hard grind to go.
And so hopefully we don't have that in the future.
I know we had it a couple of years ago.
We had the first five on the road this year.
We had five out of six on the road.
And that's just really hard to do.
So hopefully we don't ever have that again.
But we'll see.
We still got to show up and play.
And now we just... It's nice that we're going to be home the rest of the month after Saturday.
Who
are
the teams coming in?
Some of the highlights
for Saturday's tournament, Jamie?
Auburn Dale's in our bracket.
We'll open up with Nakusa and Belville.
Lodi just recently won the Mount Horup tournament on their side of the bracket.
Chippewa Falls, I believe.
And there's another team I'm drawing a blank on.
that also has 20-some wins.
So, you know, I think, you know, we just, it's no one, I think hardly anyone ever goes undefeated there.
Even Cuba City, when they went 30 and one, a few years ago, their one loss was at the Flood Eye Tournament.
Just the teams and, you know, at the end of the year, you know, it's a grind.
So, you know, if we can come out of there, at least three and two, be real happy with.
that outcome and obviously we'd be happy we're with four and one and five and oh but it's just the competition so good there I think everybody's it's a it's a great tournament so we'll see what happens.
Sounds good good luck and get ready for Dodgeville tonight Jamie.
Thanks Phil.

Richland Center High School and Dodgeville and Richland Center, welcoming you to this volleyball match here, Southwest Wisconsin Conference action this evening.
Cancer Awareness Night and the poster night at Richland Center High School.
Action in the JV ranks tonight.
JV1 and JV2 both won by Dodgeville.
Two sets to one, the final of that one.
So, Dodgeville getting victories early on, but
Both matches were very hotly contested and very evenly matched teams.
And I'm guessing tonight at the varsity competition, no exception.
Both teams come in with records of three and three.
Richland Center more successful overall at 17 and nine.
Dodgeville at five and 16.
And the Dodgers under coach Kalen Dvorak.
And her team improving.
She has some freshmen on the roster now and they've kind of gotten into the mix.
and doing better the second time around so the Horts will have their hands full tonight trying to win in front of their home fans this evening.
We'll check some stats from some of the individual players coming up and we'll also introduce you to the starting lineups in a little bit.

Liz Niemeyer picking out different choir students to sing it and then a great job here tonight and every night as we welcome you back here looking at some stats.
Richland Center led by JC Gander averaging about two and a half kills per set.
Elodie Weiss leading blocker tonight with 25
Also Adelaide Woods averaging around four digs per set and she also leads in service aces with a total of 25, averaging nearly an ace per set, which good stats there definitely for her and leading Richland Center this year.
Leading the way for Dodgeville averaging just over two per set is Anna Wellington, just over two kills per set.
high hitting percentage as well at 350.
Dix per set, Kimberly Brom at two and a half, and she also has served 12 aces on the season, averaging about a half of a serve per set.
So those are some of the stats, some of the leaders, and some of the players will be looking forward to tonight.
Right now, as we mentioned, they've got a minute on the clock and
They're going through with the bucket run, giving out some money for greater risk of the area, cancer elimination.
And a nice thing that they do each year, and they've done different fundraisers and different ways to go, but they've kind of settled on this, sending a bunch of the JV players up through the stands, and it looks like they've accomplished that.
So thanks, everybody.
Who contributed or will contribute?

This went a good one.
Doug, now by Riley, back to the middle for Dodgeville.
They slam it over and got it down.
A big hit by number five and a welling chin, and that makes it one to one.
Dodgeville with Kinley-Brahm will serve.
Hornets in serve receive mode.
Kinley gets the whistle.
And here's the line drive, serve fielded near side by the Hornets pass to the left side, taking a shot.
Gander blocked by Dodgeville back in bounds.
That was another fine play by Anna Wellington and Dodgeville goes up by a score of two to one.
And they will serve in the opener.
See, did Dodgeville ever lead in that one?
I don't think they did.
They came back to tie it at 17, at 18, at 19.
Here's the serve.
Bailey low pass on hit number two.
Can't get it.
And that'll bring up a three to one score.
Dodgeville keeping it going and they'll serve again.
Kenley Brom moving back to the middle with the whistle.
Kenley steps up and there is a serve let's serve.
Oh, that's one of those ought to be a log instead of hit the net walked up and over the bottom and over the top and down to the bottom and the Hornets can't play it.
That'll make it 4-1 and you score it and ace for Kenley Brom.
Three point lead for Dodgeville.
Brom with a serve.
Bailey passes it now.
Coles dead.
Set to the right side and taking it over and down it goes.
It was tipped as well, but a nice hit by Elevee Weiss and the Hornets get back on track.
4-2 Weiss with the kill and serving for the Hornets will be Peyton Bricko.
Burns returns and Peyton with the serve.
This one pulled to the near side.
Fielded by Emma Riley.
There's the set by Seaford.
Driving it down is Anna Wellington of Dodgeville.
Takes a lead of five to two.
They will get the side up and a Wellington stepping up.
Couple of kills in the early going of set number two or 20 opener 25 22.
Here's Wellington with a serve and near side Bailey feels it.
Oh nice play by Bailey works.
Charlie Bailey and they team Bailey works got it over somehow.
kind of reactionary play and it dropped over in front of an unsuspecting Dodgeville team that makes it five to three so the Hornets will serve Ava Belch doing the honors Ava stepping up and here comes the line drive serve fielded by Dodgeville a struggle juggle get it over here and hit number three burns
Colstead and now punching it over his gander.
Riley backs it up and now getting it over, but it's way out of bounds by him.
Authority and the Hornets are within a point.
5 to 4.
They trail here in set number two.
Ava Belch will put it in play.
Starts behind the out of bounds line for the basketball and she's going to drive it over fielded by Dodgeville right now.
Doherty gets it over.
Hornets called for being in the net.
That's a point for the Dodgers.
That makes it a 6-4 ballgame.
Into the line up for Dodgeville.
Number 14, Addison Riley, serving for the Dodgers.
Eliana Seifer.
Here comes the serve.
Cutoff now by Burns.
Gets it right back.
Highly dumps it in.
Nice play off the assist from Eva Belch.
We have an injured Hornet.
Kylie Burns saying, she's all right.
Jamie Johnson's up concerned, obviously, as the Hornets have had their share of injuries.
Burns says, I'm fine.
So it's a 0.65.
Richland Center gets it back.
And serving will be number 20, JC Gander.
Gander line drive serve cut off here on the near side by McGraw getting it back to Riley Addison drives it over and down it goes 7-5 Dodgeville in the lead And the Dodgers will serve waiting for the liberal player Emily Riley and She heads to the back row Hornets in serve receive mode
And here is the serve net sir for the Dodgers and that'll make it a 7-6 ball game into the lineup for Richmond Center number nine Pippa Ewing.
Pippa getting the chance to check back in as Kylie Burns comes off still limping a little bit after maybe kind of turning an ankle a little bit in that previous play.
So here is Pippa.
Over to the far side drives it net serve for the horse and that'll make it an eight six ball game So So it looks like we're going to have another Hornet substitution Kylie burns coming back into the lineup after a quick check of the trainer and I think it's just kind of kind of a customary thing as they bring her in then
bring her back out and Charlie Bailey little barrel player returns.
I think the officials are talking about the sequence of substitutes.
Making sure that it is all right.
And Dodger leading by a score of eight to six.
There is the serve fielded now by Burns.
The set left side wife takes a swing and it goes down the line and out of bounds.
So the Hornets down by three points now nine six Serving will be Emily Riley Riley with the approach and there is a serve pops it up back row Adlin words quick set belts down the line it goes for a good hit in bounds and down for the Hornets Elevie Weiss and that makes it nine seven
Hornets rotate around.
Aubrey Colestead is in.
We need to do a check of the flip phone.
Sponsored by Marcy's Crusaders.
We have a few scores coming in so far.
Here is the serve.
Fielded near side by the Dodgers.
They'll set it and then pop it over.
It's going to be Gander.
Now played by Colestead.
Ball driven by Wurz.
Backline Dodgeville.
Setting it up now for Cephirth who drops it over.
Nice dig by Wurz, punched over, the Hornets are gonna be called for a double hit.
And that'll put Dodgeville up by a score of 10 to seven here in set number two.
Highland up on River Ridge, two sets and on, Wasika Steuben leading Weston to nothing.
Ithaca and North Crawford are tied at one among the scores we have early on tonight.
Hornets leading one nothing, Dodgeville leading 10-7 in the second set.
and awaiting the whistle.
Lots of time between volleys right now.
I'm not sure what's what's going on.
Both teams are substituting a lot.
Ball is going to be tipped over by the Hornets again.
They're going to call a lift on the original center Hornets again.
So Dodgeville up by four now.
11-7 up by four for the first time tonight.
Here's the serve by the Dodgers net serve.
It goes right back to the Hornets making it 11-8.
Adlin Wurz will serve.
Adlin back row with the run up and here is the line drive serve.
Fielded now by the Dodgers, ball is up, blocked by Weiss and the Hornets are down by only two.
11-9 on the block kill by L.A.V.
Weiss.
Serving for the Hornets, number 12, Adlin Wurz.
Wurz with the approach and here is the serve.
taken there by Riley back to the middle taking a swing and getting it down as Anna Wellington Anna tough when she gets a run on it that makes it 12 to 9 and Dodgeville will serve side out for number 10 Kinley Brahm Kinley with the approach Hornetson serve receive mode and there it is Charlie Bailey pops it up to the left wing it's going to be taken by Colestead right side Gander takes it left and gets it over
Ball set for Dodgeville.
Wellington drives it over.
Hornets play the carom.
It goes off the net, but they can't make it play on hit number three.
And Dodgeville is up 13-9 in the second.
Dodgers will serve.
Hornets swept him last time.
But tonight, very evenly matched.
Dodgeville has made a lot of improvements.
There's the serve.
Set left side here is a shot by the Hornets' wife.
Kept live by the Rodgers and they'll get it over on hit number three by Johnson, but it is out of bounds.
Hornets get a point back.
That makes it 13-10.
I think anytime you bring in a new coach takes a little time of transition.
I think that coach Dvorak has done a nice job of kind of getting them where they need to be.
Here's a serve down.
It goes for Peyton Bricko.
That is her third ace of the night for Richland Center, 13-11.
Peyton going back to do it again.
Last set she had two in a row.
This one back row.
It's an ace.
Two in a row again.
Dodger let it go thinking it was out of bounds and it landed safely in bounds.
13-12.
Two aces in a row and just like that the Hornets are within one point of tying this one up in the second.
Junior Peyton Bricko.
There is the serve.
Fires it Riley left side played by Wellington now knocked over by Doherty.
No, it didn't make the net lands on the Dodgeville side and we are tied at 13 Timeout Dodgeville Hornets lead one set to none, but Dodgeville had led the Hornets come back from four down to tie it at 13 here on WRCO and WRCO.com
They're just not enough hours in the day.

The Richland Center football team is preparing for weekend number seven.
I talked to coach Andy Troxel earlier this week about the game coming up on Friday night against Broadhead Judah and about the attitude of the team after a tough loss last week on the road.
I think anytime you're kind of on a five game skid, that's definitely something that you need to pay attention to, you know, and so we have a chance to
to connect with the team and go through some stuff and really revisit what we can control and what we can't control, you know, and going to the Nuclaris, they're a well coached ball club, you know, with a lot of experience too.
And, you know, they, they shorted and we get to see it firsthand, you know, but hats off to our defense.
I mean, truly you wouldn't look at the score and think that right.
But I mean, they were able to keep us, you know, in the game, you know, until half or so and we're young, right?
And you either
when or you learn.
And the last month we've been doing quite a bit of learning, you know, but there's a lot of growth that comes with it and our kids are still positive.
You know, they're, they're ready to come home from their home crowd, you know, and have a few ball games the last three weeks here closer to home.
The Hornets house brought in Judah and Friday night football tomorrow night.
We'll have it on the radio.
That's it for the Dairyland Transportation High School Sports updates.
