Amanda and Tom Dyer join the Empowered Caregiver to talk their new documentary film, “UNSEEN – How We’ve Failed Parent Caregivers and Why it Matters.”

Beth Fields, occupational therapist and assistant professor at UW Madison, joins the show to talk about the CARE act. Janet Zander, with Greater WI Agency on Aging Resources Inc, comes on to talk about next week’s Hill Days. Finally, Pizzabox Mike, of Outside the Pizzabox, talks about his experiencing working as a caregiver.

Liza Hellenbrand gives some history on National Family Caregivers Month, and recaps her trip to D.C. for the National Caregiver Summit.

Liza comes in live from Washington DC as she attends the National Caregiver Summit, and is joined by Harriet Redman, founder of WisconSibs, Kim Nonn, founder of Feist Vocational Counseling and Placement, and Civic Media’s own Mike Crute.

Liza is joined by Brandi Grayson, founder of Urban Triage, and Dr. Nakia Wiley, vice president of Disability Pride Madison, to talk about challenges in care giving in the Black community.
