The federal minimum wage, on this day in 2025, is $7.25. Just as it's been for the past 15 years. That's a shameful legacy for America. Today in the rush of Senate confirmation hearings of this week, Senator Bernie Sanders pressed the Treasury Secretary nominee Scott Bessent on raising this pitiful standard. Bessent declined. Turning to our environment, in Sander's questioning, nominee Lee Zeldin says he does believe climate destruction is a significant threat and is not a hoax! That's some good news, we guess, though the bar's damn low.

We move then to Biden's farewell address to the nation. In it, Biden ponders on the legacy he leaves behind as well as that which our greater American society is building. Particularly, Biden raises alarm over the growing strength of oligarchies in this country.
