The VA cuts 70 to 80,000.
I'm seeing different numbers.
Another judge has blocked the Trump's administration funding freeze indefinitely.
We do have a bill.
to an obligation to fund government.
Hakeem Jeffries, minority leader in the House.
He says Republicans got to do it on their own.
Our allies are concerned about Donald Trump and Russia.
Our allies are, we certainly should be.
And Senator Rick Scott.
telling us straight up Medicare is on the block.
We're going to get there as well.
Let's get it to our callers though.

Well, dummy, you might be a little bit too young.
We say that tiny and cheap, but the Earl track track with me on what I'm about to say.
I believe this all started with Reagan.
It got further amplified by nuclear.
It even got further amplified by Russian brain.
The dumbing down of the United States, the dismantling of how our educational systems work, I saw it firsthand growing up and went through this and I talked about it all the time through the years of my life.
So now we're at this head and we have a lot of people who are just simply
have no critical thinking skills.
And when you ask the question, why is this happening?
Why is this happening?
Well, and why do these billionaires do what they do?
Well, you can go on YouTube and you can find psychiatrists after psychiatrists that will talk about people who are very, very wealthy.
They're narcissists.
And not only are they narcissists, not only do they do not care how all their suffer, many of them take pleasure in it.
And now we have this juvenile man child in office who doesn't know his head to his foot, and they got people whispering in his ear, and he's doing everything that he's told to do.
So we shouldn't be surprised at all.
None of us should be surprised by what's going on.
We shouldn't.
A lot of questions are being asked, the respect they're being asked, but we have culminated this culture to this point.
And that's why this country is divided, because the right, as far as I'm concerned, drank the Kool-Aid.
They're not educated.
They're not critical thinkers.
If you ask them point questions, the only thing they can come back with is something you heard on Fox, or they heard some other right-wing nut job come out of their mouth.
The days of having conversations and critical discussions about things like foreign policy, budgets, and all the rest of it,
That pretty much all died even probably 10, 15 years ago.
And now it's dead, completely dead.
So I don't know how you

I'm not going to say all Megas are like that though.
I mean, I think there are some folks out there that have a grasp on it, that are readers that know history.
I just think some of them are discounting it and putting that knowledge in sense.

You know Dominic Kurt was just so on point and if you go back I do remember Ronald Reagan and
when this all started and probably started long before that Bill Buckley, who was the father of conservatism in this country and that's going back to the late 50s, early 60s.
But Dominic, just for the life of me, they were able to listen, I had a guy challenge me the other day.
Don't you aren't you worried about men and girls locker rooms and men playing girls sports I Said man listen You know men playing girls sports Dominic you're an accountant What percentage?
I appreciate you bringing up girl.
This is something I
Ponder they see this Gavin Newsom was talking to Charlie Kirk apparently why I have no idea But and came out you know saying oh, it's not fair, you know for that to happen.
I would say this I Believe that we have certain unalienable rights of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness and that means Everybody if you're black you're white your man your woman your trans your intersex whatever the case may be we all have that right number one
And acknowledge that.
There's always been trans, there's always gonna be trans.
There are trans today.
So let's just deal with that fact.
That fact.
Intersex.
Intersex.
I mean, there are more than one gender.
Folks, hate to tell you that, Mega,
Now, if you accept that fact, and maybe you don't, but I accepted this fact, you should too.
Those folks, just like me and you, Mega,
They all have the rights to the same thing, the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
You don't gotta like it, but you gotta respect it.
And if you don't respect other people's right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, they're certainly not gonna respect yours.
Number one.
Number two, transports.
It's a sport.
You know what?
Every sport has rules.
Oh my God, there's rules to sports.
And if you want to address it, you wanna allow it in...
and recognize the fact there are trans folks out there that want to engage in sports.
You can have different rules of testosterone levels or estrogen levels, whatever the case is, come up with it, come up with the rule and follow the rules.
They are games with rules.
You can't tell me you can't accommodate that.
I'm not talking about a seven footer putting on a wig from the football team and going to play flag.
That's not the case.
Those things are not happening, but there are sports and there are rules and they can be adjusted.
and accounted for for trans people straight up period full stop now you make us got a problem with that tell me where I am wrong and to your point Earl the actual number of folks is is so super small but they may wait we have to support those folks because they have the same right to life liberty pursuit of happiness as your straight white mega churchgoing

at the forefront and make it one of the top issues in the nation is where I have the biggest problem.
And as you stated, it's not my business, okay?
If somebody is transgender and they choose to be that, or what, man, what does that have to do with me?
It's not my business, man.
But we made it our business.
Republicans and people get angry with me and they say, well, there's equalism.
You're always saying this to Republicans.
Yeah, I am saying it because I don't hear Democrats saying that, Dominic, right?
It's the Republicans who are saying these things and making these the issues, man.

The AP Trump administration plans to cut 80,000 employees from veterans affairs.

As I mentioned at the headline of the AP reporting the Department of Veteran Affairs planning a reorganization that includes cutting over 80,000 jobs from the sprawling agency that provides health care and other services.
for millions of veterans.
Thank you for your service, Earl.
The VA's chief of staff, Christopher Syrick, told top level agents, officials at the agency Tuesday that it had an objective to cut enough employees to return to 2019 staffing levels of just under 400,000 as the AP reports that would require terminating tens of thousands of employees after the VA expanded during the Biden administration.
as well as to cover veterans impacted by burn pits under the 2022 packed act.
Oh, they say it's not going to, you know, affect, you know, the, uh, the money, what did they say?
I want to, things need to change saying that the layoffs would not mean cuts to veterans health care or benefits.
If you're cutting 80,000 people, you know, leaving that it's going to have an impact man, one way or another, certainly I'll have a financial impact.
Got that.
And there might be some savings.
Oh, OK.
Well, you're telling me those 80,000 people did nothing.
We're doing nothing.
Of course, they were doing something.
And now that something is not going to get done.
You
know, you know, Dominic, I knew veterans who worked at the VA, Vietnam veterans, friends of mine.
And many were wounded.
And part of what.
Joe Biden did to his credit.
The veterans, he did a lot of things, man, that, you know, people aren't going to realize until, you know, maybe six months with Donald Trump and then they'll, they'll wish they had him back.
But one of the things he did was improve the veterans, you know, a hospital because many veterans would complain that it would take them forever.
and they couldn't get seen and and it was and it was horrible.
And so yeah, Joe Biden did bring in more people.
Dominic, why would you not?
Man, these people put their lives on the line, man.
You know, and I don't want to hear that we can't afford.
Yeah, well, it's too much money.
We got too many people there.
And so we don't we we don't owe the veterans one.
It really kind of deranged guy called me this morning and said, I'm a veteran, you know, and they don't owe me, they don't owe me a living.
I said, man, I don't understand, but, you know, clearly something happened to you with
of thinking, man, that you don't even know, man.
All those men and women dominate who
come back from the theater of war, never the same, man.
Never the same, man.
You sent 18 year olds all over the world and you tell them they're fighting for democracy.
You lied to them, Dominic.
You make them, you know, you basically make them killers.
And then they do that and then they come back and you don't even have psychiatrists and psychologists to deprogram them.
And then you've got veterans who sleep under bridges and eat out of garbage cans from World War II and Vietnam, man.
And so Joe Biden did something about it, man.
He tried to help them.
What I mean, what is it with people Dominic?
I don't I don't get it
man Yeah, and that's a great point Earl and yeah, there is there's an additional cost and it certainly was authorized by Congress You know I'm saying that's how it works And if you got a problem with it Trump and the billionaires how about raising taxes on Trump on the billionaire?
Wouldn't that be part of the equation as well?
Now certainly we can't tax Everybody to get over the whole thing.
I mean we could take all the money.
We're still gonna have problems But that is definitely part of the equation
And the whole driving point with Mega and the billionaires and Trump is to try to somehow justify the cost of a four and a half trillion dollar tax cut for them.
That's what is driving all of this.
And there are Republicans and Megas you're going to be impacted the VA.
You know, Republicans are very patriotic.
They'll tell you they're going to sign up.
They're going to support and defend this country.
And they're going to come back.
And if they want to get an appointment, it's going to be.
Six months.
Gonna be longer.
Maybe it was less.
We had 80,000 people hired, but now it might be longer.
So you can't tell me nothing's going to be impacted, Earl.
I mean, there's no question, Dominic.
And as I've always said, man, you know, it's not good enough that you say, thank you for your service.
It's not good enough that you hang the flag outside of your house and say, on Veterans Day, I support the veterans.
You should be out on the street.
You should be marching the American people should be making it clear Keep your hands off of the people who supposedly gave you and me the freedom.
Well, it's just it's about democracy We're sending them on the other side of the door there there to promote democracy.
Okay on a veteran issue
80,000 people.
Does that mean there's 80,000 appointments that are delayed for cancer?
impact?
You know, guys who have mental problems, delayed there.
I spent five years as a state counselor in the seventies and we, we worked on a organization called that house, which with the help of Senator Proxmire and custom Congressman Castamire opened up.
360 outreach centers in community centers.
There's one in Madison to help veterans.
Does that mean they're getting cut too?
So when guys walked in there, the doors are shut.
Give me a break.
That's ridiculous.
Yes, I believe that will happen.
Now they say they're, you know, layoffs will that mean cuts to veterans' health care or benefits?
But is it really health care if you can't get in the door?
You know what I'm saying?
It doesn't really matter.
If you can't, you got a million dollars, but you can't get to the bank to get it out.
You don't got a million dollars.
You know what I'm saying?

Got a couple of colors we want to get to regarding the VA issue, the government, this Trump administration looking to cut 80.
1,000 workers from the VA, getting back to what, 2019 levels of 400,000.
Biden increased that to address the lines and the lack of availability and addressing the burn pit issues.
You know, as time goes on, the medical issues become different, but we still need to take care of them.
But apparently we don't need to take care of them that much, not to the tune of 480,000, just the 400,000.
Uh, we'll get to that as well eight five five seven five two four eight four two.
Uh, Luann Bird, you are up.
Hey Luann, welcome back.
What do you got for us?
Um, my husband's a Vietnam vet.
Um, last summer he broke, fell out of his chair, broke his leg and he's, uh, and ribs.
He's, we found out he has
spinal stenosis, right?
So here's the layer of the land.
He has severe chronic pain.
He has osteoporosis.
His bones are very brittle right now.
He has spinal stenosis, meaning he can't use his hands anymore.
He has kidney failure.
And now they want to take away his medical team.
And my question is, well, what part of this 20%
you know, what part of all of the treatment that he needs right now, can we really live without?
He also needs things like therapy and wheelchair repair.
And right now we need some help with medical supplies to get him in and out of bed because he's completely bed-bund.
And so in our house, it's like...
He feels like he put his life on the line for us in Vietnam.
He's a combat veteran.
He was wounded.
He was paralyzed, completely severed his spinal cord in a PTSD related construction accident 30 years ago.
And we depend on the VP.
And so we just feel outrageous that he put his life on the line for us.
And now he feels like his life is threatened from his own country.
by taking away those benefits, those services, there's no guarantee right now that we will get the same service that we had before.
There's just no guarantee.
And it's unacceptable to us.
So we're going to be, like you said, protesting tomorrow, 4.30 at the VA.
I've been, they were ready with my little sign all by myself just saying, we love our VA.
Stop the chop.
You know, we love the VA.
So we have to do, it's personal.
You guys, it's so personal.
And I look at all of that transient where they're every week.
It's not once a week, two, three times a week for the complications that my honey goes through.
And he, you know, I'll, I'll fight till the bitter end to make sure he gets the services he needs.
But right now it's really tough.
It's tough.
And the anxiety that they're adding to our lives.
Why?
Somebody, like you said, why?
Well, why?
For
Luanne, thank you for sharing.
Let me ask you, if I may, and thank you for your husband's service.
And I know you take care of him and doing what you can, Luanne, as best you can.
Your experiences with the VA over the past 35 years, I mean, that's a long time to be going in and out and using the services of the VA.
Has it changed?
Has it gotten better?
Has it gotten worse?
How would you evaluate the services you've gotten from the VA over time?
It has really only gotten better because they keep adding programs and doing the research to try to come up with spirits for things like spinal cord injury.
So just to give you the latest example of that, I would say in the last two years, they finally added some programs to help caregivers, which is really helpful because we need to take care of those veterans at home.
They don't have to go on a nursing home.
But the most important...
new program that they just added my husband suffers this chronic pain and for years I've been watching this research on neural plasticity that that I thought might be our only hope for him getting some relief and it's a virtual reality program that actually can reprogram the brain over time.
Last week the VA that got us into that program and so for the next 56 weeks
I see my husband putting on these goggles and this program that will give him some long, finally, without drugs, some pain relief that he had so needed.
And that just happened.
And that happened because we as a country invested in the research that it's going to take.
We've always invested in our VA.
It's not perfect.
The first one to challenge him if something doesn't go right.
And that's what we have to do.
But it sure has gotten better.
And in the 35 years, I guess I missed all that fraud.
We're not seeing it.
We're seeing counselors that step up for us.
We're seeing doctors that call us even at night when we need it.
When I went in for Phil's broken leg, that day he broke his leg.
The next day I go in to get a lift in there and the social worker comes out.
The next day we have what we need at home.
It doesn't get any better than that.
So I hope it doesn't get worse.
the spinal cord area when my husband is in the hospital and it happens a lot.
We like him to go into the spinal cord wing.
Well, there are 30 beds there.
They're down to only being able to service 11 and they've been that way since COVID.
So if he gets sick, he ends up in the regular hospital and they really don't have the rooms or anything that works best for spinal cord as they do the spinal cord wing.
So that's the reality of what's going on there and they are wonderful.
Oh, I was just going to, I'm just echoing Joanne's.
I think I've talked to you before about my husband.
experience with the VA and,
in another hospital for two years and people are treating him so wonderfully on that.
Doctors don't get paid like other doctors.
They get paid their salaries and the staff does an amazing job.
They're really on top of it.
But I also wanted to touch base about Al Green because I felt nobody should censor him in today's society where we have going on with Trump.
We have to speak up loudly.
And he just did that.
He was speaking up for the people in his community that he represents.
And I think that's amazing.
He should have been given a standing ovation.
So instead of being censured.
Amen, Susan, especially given the circumstances and what other Congressmen and women have done as well.

I didn't think it was a, uh, that big of a deal.
And I cannot believe that a bunch of Democrats jumped on a censure.
Now, what does that mean?
Earl, according to CBS news, a formal rebuke by the house for some form of misconduct usually requires the censured member to stand in front of the, uh, the house chamber while the resolution is read by the presiding member.
It does not remove the member from office or pose any other penalties behind the reputational damage and historical notoriety that accompanies it.
Uh, yeah.
Good.
Al.

Take that, push back, support your people.
And I wish I'd see some of that from these other Dems, Earl, because I don't see a lot of folks acting like this other than putting up a sign saying this is not normal, behaving like this is not normal.
You know, Dominic, you look at the lack of leadership in the Democratic Party and people who don't know which way to go,
You know, they lost this race, but you can't bury your head in the sand, Dominic.
It's not like they were destroyed totally, man.
They barely lost.
Hold your head up, man.
Straighten your back up.
Show that you still have some intestinal fortitude and a spine.
Stop walking around with your heads down, man.
You know what I mean?
This whole thing that I see from Congress and others, oh man, they beat us, man, oh man, we don't have any, hey man, you still have some juice, use it, push back.
When the Republicans, when the Democrats had control over the House, the Senate and the presidency, the Republicans were still raising hell, Dominic.
You know what I mean?
Yes, you do you didn't see them just walk away and and just do you know You know It's just yeah, I want to hit it.
I want to hit it.

unbought, unbossed, and unafraid.
And I rise today, Mr. Speaker, to call to the attention of the House, this place that I revere and notwithstanding recent events that I have great respect for.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today in response to a censure, a censure that
took place as it relates to my behavior.
I respect the speaker.
I have no ill feelings toward the speaker.
None toward the persons that escorted me away from the floor because I did disrupt.
And I did so because the president indicated that he had a mandate.
And I wanted him to know that he didn't have a mandate to cut Medicaid.
I did this because Medicaid is the only insurance many people have in this country.
I am blessed as I stand here now.
There's a physician waiting.
If something should happen, I will be taken to that physician.
I have the best healthcare in the world.
There are other people who have less than I.
I would have them have what I have, but I surely will not stand by and I'll see them lose what little they do have.
Medicaid is for people who don't have the kind of healthcare that 435 members of Congress and 100 members of the Senate have.
It has been approved by legislation that the Energy and Commerce Committee would cut 880 billion dollars.
from their budget.
The overwhelming majority of that budget has to do with health care.
I see no way for this cut to take place without cutting into Medicaid.
I am going to fight the cutting of Medicaid.
I hope that this comment, this message that I'm giving today will deter them and cause them to go a different way.
Then they can say we were never going to do it.
Al Green just
He just had this false notion.
Well, let me have it.
Don't cut Medicaid.
I want to buy.
Here, here for Al Green, man.
You know, he, look, man, he echoed the sentiments that I was talking about, man.
for other Democrats to be cowardly and agree to the censor, you know, it would be nice.
You know, if that's the leader that we are looking for, for the Democrats, Dominic, wouldn't you agree?
A man who stands up boldly in the face of knowing what the outcome was going to be.
And in spite of that, he stood up for the people.
He didn't stand up for himself.
He spoke for the people.
And he said, I'm unbought.
I'm
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's freedom.
That's leadership.
That's pushing back.
That's supporting the rights.

Don't get me wrong.
I am kind of hanging my head a little bit as a Democrat only because I'm not sad about that.
I mean, I'm not, um, feeling the loss, the loserness or whatever you want to call it.
I've embarrassed my fellow Americans.
I'm embarrassed by my country right now.
And that's what makes me hang my head.
It's not, it's not a loss because I don't think that I lost.
I don't even think the commonwealth, I think the country in the world lost.
And that's just the way I, I mean, that's it's not going to change for me.
Um,

I echo Keith's sentiments.
I'm embarrassed and sad for my country, too.
But on the positive side, tomorrow at noon at the state capitol, there is a rally called Stand Up for Science and considering the attacks on science, whether it be NOAA or cancer research or Alzheimer's research, a good thing to attend to.

You could go back to that subject again and again.
The stories of people who have survived serious illness because of the care that they've received that the VA is incredible.
The VA is about delivering service to a particular group of people and they feel very strongly about that.
It's not about making money.

I finally got a hold of Ron Johnson's office and machine in, uh, at the Capitol and I left a message and said that I was
pleased to hear him on the news saying that he was concerned and very concerned.
And I said, I'm glad that he's concerned about the, the voters, his constituents in Wisconsin.
And I hope he's concerned about the whole of the United States and that he will remember that concern when he votes.

I left it on several of his white
Hi, yeah, I saw John Lodge from the Moody Blues last night
Cap Theatre and it was an awesome show.
Bernie's coming tomorrow, so that's another great thing.
Both of those are real happy things.
And what I originally called about was I think Al Green was wonderful.
I heard everything that he said.
He said that Trump didn't have a mandate
wish that every Democrat would have followed him in turn one by one and gotten up and said every lie that Trump said and given some kind of rebuttal and just took the whole damn night to just give rebuttal after rebuttal and each of them gotten thrown
that that would have been an
awesome thing for them to do to show the country that this is not business as usual and I think it's a shame that ten of them censured him.
I think it's shameful.

I'm a member of several jazz organizations in Madison.
It's a lot lighter than what you just were talking about, but last Saturday we had a wonderful jam with a group of three young jazz musicians, wonderful musicians from Madison.
