He has been on the board of directors of WAMI, WYOU and a member of Willy Wash citizen advocacy group. Rökker came to Madison in 1986 to attend the University of Wisconsin and fell in love with the city's music scene. He never left. The 1990s found Rökker playing in rock and blues bands like Cornerstone, Jim May Band, Mayband, and Bradley Fish's Electrifried Band. Currently, Rökker plays in his rock band Ironplow and can be found playing frequently in Madison and Milwaukee. Rökker created Maximum Ink music magazine on March, 7 1996 after working at his predecessor Night Sights & Sounds be until their demise, and published Maximum Ink monthly, in print, until March 2020. Rökker began programming and directing stages for Atwood Summerfest in 2002 and continued with the new stakeholders to create AtwoodFest in 2014, a street music festival in the heart of the eastside of Madison. Rökker Vodka was created by Yahara Bay Distillery in 2011 and later a whiskey version celebrating the Madison music scene. Max Ink Radio was founded in April 2011 when Rökker and program director Jimmy K forged an internet radio station as a radio version of the magazine. The station was known for its witty music shows by hosts from Madison to Ontario, and the widely popular Jimmy K Show which broadcast live from the Wisco and featured local band interviews and performances. Max Ink Radio entered the AM/FM/Streaming broadcast arena in July 2019 when Michael Crute bought TALK 92.7fm and asked Max Ink Radio to "Unplug From Politics" on the weekend with local music. Talk 92.7 became Devil Radio which was eventually purchased by Civic Media. Max Ink Radio is currently broadcast statewide on the Civic Media radio network on Saturday and Sunday nights from 6pm to midnight.
