I’m going to start out by saying that I love Channing Tatum, so I’m completely biased. COMPLETELY. That being said, aside from my admiration, he is a really good actor. And don’t scoff at that…. he is!

He has range. He can ham it up in slapstick comedy movies like 21 Jump Street (2012), dance his (very nice) behind off in movies like Magic Mike (2012) and Step Up (2006), and make you cry in tear-jerkers like Dear John (2010) and The Vow (2012), and kick some serious butt in movies like White House Down (2013).

Need action? Channing can bring it.
Need heart? Yup. He can do that do.
Need a cute face, strong arms, and a good looking naked man? Well, you’ll see a lot of him in those kinda movies, too. And I will never complain!

If he’s in a movie, he will be the character through and through. And I think he’s really good in whatever role he takes on. Really good! Even if it requires losing a ton of weight to look more like the character. Yup, he does that, too.

Which brings me to Roofman (2025) based on the real life – crazy– story of Jeffrey Manchester (played by Channing Tatum). He’s an Army vet turned armed robber of McDonald’s restaurants. He breaks in by cutting holes in their roofs, gets caught and then escapes prison, to secretly live inside a Toys “R” Us.

Sounds too crazy to be true, right? I thought so, too.

Considering that we shouldn’t really be rooting for this guy, it was really hard not to. Channing is great. The movie is great. I’d highly recommend you watch it.

And make sure to watch all the way through the credits to see some interviews from the real-life people. You won’t regret it.

Laura McKenna

Laura McKenna grew up in Ohio and got her first job in radio in La Crosse in 2005. She packed up her stuff, made the move, and has been in Wisconsin ever since! Her favorite season is winter but she loves to spend all summer in her vegetable garden. When she isn’t in her pink kitchen cooking up vegetarian recipes, more than likely she’s taking bubble baths, reading mystery novels (sometimes while in a bubble bath), cheering for THEE Ohio State Buckeyes, or officiating weddings! She married her best friend from college last year but they still don’t live in the same house yet. Laura’s favorite way to spend a Friday night is watching Dateline with her cat (Phil Dawson) on her lap. She’s thrilled to be keeping you company during the workday!
