Our topic during this weekend’s Those Were the Days radio show will be ‘groups that are named after cities, and states. I did not realize that there are so many until I did a little research on the topic. It seems that it became a popular band name topic starting with the group originally known as Chicago Transit Authority that became known simply as Chicago in the late sixties. Many groups followed such as Boston, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Bay City Rollers, Detroit Wheels, LA Guns, New York City, Kansas, Black Oak Arkansas. There have also been continents honored by rock bands such as Europe and Asia! We will take you on a tour during our six-hour radio show Saturday night between six and midnight.

I hope you will be able to join us during a busy weekend in Southwest Wisconsin. We hope to see many folks at the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Finals and at the parade Saturday morning at 10:30 in Richland Center. It is always fun to meet listeners face to face. Sometimes the reaction is a hesitant, you’re Phil Nee? Then I am never sure if they expect a Tom Selleck or Junior Samples look alike! I hope to talk with you this weekend in person, on the phone, or via texts and emails. Much like the old Motel 6 slogan, we will have the light on for you Saturday night during Those Were the Days on WRCO, WRCO.com, or the Civic Media app. Last weekend we were rocking lots of campgrounds around Wisconsin. Let me know where you listen and I will be glad to give a shout out!
