The year of 1967 is still my all-time favorite year for music. When I first start collecting (hoarding) music, much of what I gathered was from that year. One of my first pre-recorded cassette tapes was the greatest hits of 1967. It practically wore out in my Panasonic tape recorder. As we look at the January survey from all of those years ago, there are songs that still are well thought of today. Among my favorites are Good Thing-Paul Revere and the Raiders, I’m a Believer-Monkees, Good Vibrations-Beach Boys, Mustang Sally-Wilson Pickett, Kind of a Drag-Buckinghams, I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)-Electric Prunes, That’s Life-Frank Sinatra, Love You So Much-New Colony Six and Gimme Some Loving-Spencer Davis Group. On Those Were the Days Saturday night, I look forward to running a needle through some of those grooves.

I will be back to the studio this week for a live rendition of the Saturday night show. Be ready for tough trivia and the random Jukebox of requests. Last weekend we were at a Civic Media holiday event. It was great to see many people and I got to play vintage video games such as Frogger, Ms Pacman, and NBA Blitz. The verdict is that I still stink at Arcade games. I did get the chance to see the Bob Dylan bio pic A Complete Unkown starring Timothee Chalamet this past Sunday. It is a great movie that I highly recommend. If you like musical biography movies, then this one is for you. Had I had more time, it would have been fun to turn around and see the movie again.

Once again, the party is Saturday night. I have a kegger of Ski soda pop tapped. All of the cool kids will join the Solid Gold Dancers and me. Tell your parents that you are going to the library and then hang out with us. Those Were the Days is heard from six until midnight each week on WRCO FM 100.9, WRCO.com, and the Civic Media app.
