This week on Those Were the Days we will take you back to October of 1973 when Gladys Knight and the Pips had the number tune. I hope you will take the memory train with us when we give honor the greatest music ever put on vinyl. I only kept a diary for one year out of my life and I still have it. A while back I read a few passages from 1973. It seems I was already preparing for my radio career as my school troubles for constant talking out of turn were at the forefront. Each night I was watching a lot of variety shows or tuning my AM radio to find far out stations from all over the country and Canada. On the radio that fall were stone cold classics such as, Ramblin Man-Allman Brothers, Angie-Rolling Stones, We’re an American Band-Grand Funk, Loves Me Like a Rock-Paul Simon, Photograph-Ringo Starr, Free Ride-Edgar Winter, China Grove-Doobie Brothers, and Rocky Mountain Way-Joe Walsh. I can’t wait to spin a few from ’73 Saturday night. It was great to hear from new and longtime friends this past weekend. When someone calls and tells me that they have not heard a certain song for decades and I can play it, that makes hosting the show so rewarding.

Here is a program note. The WIAA volleyball playoffs are underway. There is a chance that we will have a broadcast on Saturday night for a couple of hours. That means Those Were the Days will start at 6 pm before high school sports and then resume around 8:30. I will be taking your requests for the final 3 hours on Saturday night. We might even extend our show a little later if June lets me stay out past curfew.
