RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- A 44-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Saturday morning following a 4.5 mile chase involving the State Patrol, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, and North Fond du Lac Police.
According to the Sheriff’s Department a State Trooper pulled the man’s vehicle over shortly after 9 am on I-41 northbound near US Highway 151 in the Town of Fond du Lac. The man was wanted on a felony warrant for failing to make a court appearance in a Kenosha County stolen vehicle case.
As another State Trooper and Sheriff’s deputy arrived the man fled from the traffic stop. A pursuit was initiated that culminated when the fleeing vehicle went airborne going up an embankment on Winnebago Street. It crashed in a field and the driver fled on foot.
He was captured a short time later after a taser was deployed. He suffered minor injuries in the crash and following medical treatment was booked into the County Jail. Both the Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol are pursing charges against him.
