Ripon Common Council Approves K9 Therapy Program

RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- The Ripon Common Council last night approved the establishment of a police K9 Therapy program. The dog will be used primarily in the schools to provide comfort when a student or students are in crisis.

The First We Live Foundation has donated $10,000 toward the startup of the program. School Resource Officer Lindsey Michels says a dog is available to begin training starting April 10th. It is a golden doodle, which get to be about 35 pounds.

The Council last night unanimously approved the therapy canine program policy. The Council also heard the annual report for the Parks and Recreation Department and Senior Activity Center.
