WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH)- Some apparent answers to the disappearance of 22-year-old Jon “Jake” Morgan six years ago as Waupaca County Sheriff’s deputies arrest a 31-year-old Antigo woman.
Desiree Osman was charged yesterday with first-degree reckless homicide, party to the crime of hiding a corpse, and delivery of up to 3 grams of heroin. She is also charged with two felony counts of bail jumping.
According to the criminal complaint investigators believe Morgan is dead, the victim of a heroin overdose. His body was never found. His half-sister reported him missing on March 9th, 2020, telling investigators she heard he overdosed at Osman’s house in the King area and was taken somewhere. She said he didn’t pick up his paycheck on March 6th, which was unusual.
When interviewed on April 1st that year Osman told investigators she and Jon smoked the heroin that she purchased in Milwaukee multiple times in the early morning hours of March 6th. During a subsequent interview she admitted to being the last person to see Jon alive.
Morgan’s family issued a statement yesterday in part saying, “With the recent charges, there aren’t big dramatic emotions. It’s more complicated than that. There’s sadness. There’s anger. There’s a quiet sense of validation. And there’s exhaustion. We’ve been carrying this for a long time.”
Osman will make her initial court appearance this afternoon.
