RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- A family of eight was displaced by a fire that destroyed their home on Hickory Hills Road in Calumet County’s Town of Chilton Saturday morning.
The family was taken to a local hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation and released. One firefighter was also treated for minor injuries.
According to the Chilton Fire Department they and EMR’s were dispatched to the fire at W2316 Hickory Hills Road at 5:30 am. Firefighters had a difficult time putting out the blaze because the first floor had burned through from fire in the basement. Later firefighters were able to enter the second floor and stop the fire from spreading to the attic.
The family lost all their belongings but has temporary housing. The Chilton Community and surrounding area have stepped up with clothing donations. A list of what is needed can be found on the Chilton Fire Department Facebook page.
The home was extensively damaged by fire, smoke, and water. Seven other fire departments provided mutual aid at the fire.
