RIPON, Wis (WRPN)-A 20-year-old Black Creek man is facing multiple charges for a 24-mile chase with Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday.

A deputy had pulled the vehicle over in the Town of Lamartine because the license plates came back as “no vehicle associated.” As the deputy approached the vehicle it took off. That sparked a 24-mile pursuit west of Fond du Lac, mostly in the area south of State Highway 23, east of State Highway 26 and north of County Highway T.

Eventually the vehicle tried to hide near a farmstead on Forest Avenue Road and sustained minor damage entering a ditch near a pole. All five occupants exited the vehicle and were taken into custody by arriving deputies.

Marijuana and alcohol were found in the vehicle and a black bag with a loaded handgun was located beneath a building. Fresh footprints in the snow from the vehicle led up to the building.

The Black Creek man was charged with multiple counts of recklessly endangering safety, felony fleeing, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations. The four passengers, all under the age of 21, were cited for possession of alcohol and some possessed drug paraphernalia.

No one was injured during the pursuit.
