The award, named for the Wausau High School coaching legend, honors the outstanding senior football player of the Greater Wausau Area.

Four outstanding football players from Wausau West, Wausau East, D.C. Everest and Newman Catholic have been named finalists for the Brockmeyer Award. The finalists are Jake Ruether of D.C. Everest, Everett Puent of Newman Catholic, Kayden Meverden of Wausau East and Cooper DePuydt of Wausau West. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on Friday, December 12th at the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin.

Ruether was a unanimous all-WVC performer at outside linebacker for the Evergreens. Puent set a school record at Newman Catholic with 48 tackles for a loss in helping the Cardinals to four straight playoff appearances and a state championship. Meverden was a first team all-GNC selection as a defensive back this year and was among the top in the state with 6 interceptions. DePuydt was a two-time all-conference running back who also excelled at linebacker and on special teams.

The Brockmeyer Award finalists are nominated by their head coaches with the winner voted on by a panel of the four school’s Athletic Directors and members of the media.
