RIPON, Wis. (WRPN) – A home at N3366 Lori Lane in Fond du Lac County’s town of Waupun was rendered uninhabitable following a fire Monday afternoon.
Deputies, as well as the Waupun Fire Department, responded and observed the southwest corner of the residence fully engulfed. No one was inside the home owned by Jacob and Jennifer Damask.
According to the initial investigation, the fire started on the exterior of the residence and spread along the side of the structure to the roofline. Investigators found a chimney pipe for a pellet stove near the corner where the fire originated.
The homeowner reported that the pellet stove was in use. A spark may have escaped from the stack and ignited dry leaves around the exterior of the home. The fire was confined to one side of the residence, but the rest of the home sustained significant smoke and water damage and is uninhabitable.
No injuries were reported, and the fire is not considered suspicious.
