WAUTOMA, Wis. (WAUH)- Police in Wautoma Thursday afternoon arrested a 16-year-old boy who allegedly told a social worker he was going to do a shooting at the high school that included targeting law enforcement officers.

Family members reported their guns were missing and the student was currently at the Wautoma High School. The Waushara County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center transferred the social worker’s call to the school’s resource officer.

The social worker then contacted Wautoma Police Chief Paul Mott who was out of the county. He contacted dispatch and learned no officers were dispatched to the school for the possible threat. Officers were then dispatched to the high school.

Social workers also contacted the school, and it went into lockdown. Staff located the student. The student resisted the school resource officer’s attempt at detention but was taken into custody.

Police learned threats had been made, but the student did not possess any weapons. The student was detained at the police department and later transferred to a juvenile detention facility. Charges of threat to law enforcement, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct have been referred against him.
