Dramatic ICE Raid in Chicago and Silence from National Media

The Todd Allbaugh Show: Why the national media is ignoring this raid while knowing it would have been headline news under past presidents

A dramatic immigration raid in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood is sparking outrage after residents reported Black Hawk helicopters overhead, doors smashed open, and children zip-tied together. Yet, coverage is largely absent as there is only silence on national media newscasts.

Those of us who have the privilege of a microphone have to speak up and tell the truth in these times.

Todd Allbaugh, host of The Todd Allbaugh Show, is calling the raid disturbing. And while discussing it with listeners of the show, he also wonders about the over-the-top show of force, along with a lack of transparency and accountability.

“The federal government brought in Black Hawk helicopters to raid an apartment building in Chicago,” Allbaugh explains. “If that doesn’t grab your attention, I don’t know what does.”

According to reporting by the local Chicago ABC affiliate, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents with the FBI, and ATF descended on an apartment building near 75th Street and South Shore Drive late Monday night. The Department of Homeland Security later confirmed 37 arrests tied to alleged gang and drug activity.

But residents describe a chaotic scene that went far beyond the suspects. One woman, Pertissue Fisher, told ABC 7: “It was scary because I’ve never had a gun in my face. They asked my name, my date of birth, and if I had warrants. I told them no, but they handcuffed me anyway.”

Other eyewitnesses are quoted in the story, saying children were zip-tied and separated from their parents. Property was destroyed with chainsaws and battering rams. One resident described an agent as openly laughing and dismissing concerns, reportedly saying, “F— them kids.”

For Allbaugh, what’s just as troubling is the silence in mainstream media.

“This story is disturbing from a legal perspective, from a constitutional perspective, from an American rights perspective,” Allbaugh shares. “But equally disturbing is that our national media is shying away from it. If this had happened under Barack Obama, George W. Bush, or Bill Clinton, it would’ve been the top headline.”

Listeners from across Wisconsin echo his alarm, one comparing the raid to tactics used in authoritarian regimes.

“I grew up in the ’50s in Germany,” a caller from the Northwoods explains. “This is exactly what’s happening here in the United States. People need to wake up.”

Allbaugh also warns his listeners not to assume this kind of action is limited to Chicago.

“For people listening in southern Wisconsin, this happened less than two hours away,” he says. “If you don’t think this could happen in Milwaukee or elsewhere, you’re sadly mistaken.”

As debate over immigration, federal power, and press freedom intensifies, Allbaugh closes with his personal message about responsibility.

“Those of us who have the privilege of a microphone have to speak up and tell the truth in these times,” Allbaugh shares. “That’s why I’m proud to work for a company that stands behind us in doing just that.”
