Suicide by Sextortion Presentation
RIPON, Wis(WRPN)-The Fond du Lac Area YScreen will host a powerful presentation about suicide and sextortion next Wednesday night at 6 pm at the Fond du Lac High School PAC.
Fond du Lac County United Way Executive Director Amber Kilawee says United Way community partner YScreen is a youth mental health program that screens 7th and 9th graders who may have anxiety and depression. They then connect them with appropriate resources.
Kilawee says unfortunately Fond du Lac County is above the nation’s and Wisconsin’s suicide rates with three recent suicides. She says many suicide victims are just kids.
Next Wednesday’s presentation will feature a Michigan man John DeMay talking about his 17-year-old son Jordan, who committed suicide after being subjected to sextortion. The evening will conclude with a panel discussion featuring John and members of the Fond du Lac Police Department.
