RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Governor Tony Evers has signed a $2.7 million contract to improve State Highway 44, from the Grand River Bridge to the Fond du Lac County line in Green Lake County.

Work will begin on Friday. Northeast Asphalt is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will mill and pave asphalt pavement, widen the paved shoulder from County Highway H to East Little Green Road, install centerline rumble strips and replace curb ramps.

During construction, State Highway 44 will be open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures with the use of flagging operations. Reconstruction of the curb ramps will require the shoulder/parking lane to be closed.

Construction is scheduled for completion in October. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
