Friend of Public Education Celebrated

RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- During the Ripon Area School District’s Back-to-School all staff in service Monday there was a celebration for the 2025 Friend of Public School Award recipients-Ripon School Resource Officers.

The partnership between the Ripon Police Department and the Ripon Area School District was initiated in 2006. Police Chief Bill Wallner says, “The SRO position is not about “criminal contact” with students and staff. Much of the role centers around the overall safety of the District and social support for a variety of needs.”

Current SROs are Officer Lindsey Michels and Officer Brad Rasmussen.
