RIPON, Wis. (WRPN)- The Ripon Common Council last night approved a bid of just under $800,000 from RLAM of Ripon for construction work for improvements to Selfridge Park. It was the lowest of four bids.

The Council also approved the purchase of a Poligon Shelter at a cost of more than $79,000.

The overall cost for the project is estimated at $1.27 million. A state stewardship grant will pay for more than $486,000 of that cost with the remainder paid for through TIF District funds. Playground equipment previously approved by the Council will cost more than $220,000.

MSA is handling the engineering for the project. The Council amended the city’s Professional Service Agreement with MSA for the project which is not to exceed $86,000.

In other business the Council approved an alcoholic beverages license for the Crimson Still Cocktail Company which will be operated by Erin O’Toole Turner and her husband Kyle Turner. She works as a teacher at Laconia High School and he works for Mercury Racing.

Erin told the Council they intend to operate the Crimson Still at 221 Watson Street as a cocktail lounge and small eatery. They hope to be open for business by the time of the November Wine Walk.
