Names Released in Fatal Accident

RIPON, Wis. (WRPN)- Names have been released in a Fond du Lac County head-on collision where one driver died and the other was injured. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 151 near Thill Road just before 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, two Dane County Sheriff’s deputies on a transport assignment saw the collision and stopped to render aid to the two victims. Eighty-one-year-old Mary Naggatz of Sun Prairie died at the scene and 58-year-old Daniel Sturm of Neenah was taken to St. Agnes Hospital with serious injuries.

The preliminary investigation found Naggatz was heading south on Highway 151 and may have suffered a medical emergency. Her vehicle crossed the grass median into northbound lanes and struck Sturm’s vehicle. In trying to avoid the collision Sturm sideswiped another northbound vehicle. No one in that vehicle was injured.
