June 14-June 18 is Rural Road Safety Awareness Week, Gov. Evers proclaims
WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – Governor Tony Evers proclaims June 14 through June 18 as Rural Road Safety Awareness Week – an initiative to encourage safe travel and prevent roadway emergencies.
In an executive order signed Monday, Gov. Evers writes “Post Crash Care: Big League Safety” is the theme of this year’s road safety week. The theme highlights the importance of having access to emergency response services in the event of a crash.

Gov. Evers notes in the order that across Wisconsin’s near 10,000 miles of rural highway, 19,000 crashes occur each year, totaling more than 200 annual deaths. Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) encourage safe and cautious driving as WisDOT continues to develop and implement new strategies to minimize roadway danger.
