Iowa County Suffers Traffic Fatality

Iowa County suffered its third traffic fatality of 2025 on Thursday. Just before Noon Thursday, the Iowa County 911 Center was alerted to a single vehicle crash on State Highway 191, just east of County Highway W, in the Township of Ridgeway.

Emergency Responders have determined that the drive, Daniel Schuttee, 55 of rural Blanchardville, had sustained life-threatening injuries. Investigators determined that Schutte was the sole occupant and drive of the vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on State Highway 191 when it veered off the roadway and struck a rock embankment. Schutte was pronounced dead at the scene by Iowa County Coroner, Wendell Hamlin.

As a result of the investigation, State Highway 191 was closed for approximately two hours. Speed nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash, which ended the life of Daniel Schuttee, 55 of rural Blanchardville.
