A large crowd gathered in downtown Green Bay for a Stand with Ukraine rally at the CityDeck along the Fox River. The rally on Sunday afternoon brought together many people holding signs in support of Ukraine.

The rally came on the heels of a tense exchange between President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday. And while event organizers called for lasting peace, they say it should not come at the expense of Russia’s economic recovery. Instead, through a steadfast American commitment to support Ukraine in the face of aggression.

Oksana Kobzar, secretary of Wisconsin Ukrainians, also shared what support from the local community means to her.

“This community has been so welcoming since day one of the war,” Kobzar explains. “To see so many people here, especially with such short notice. We only organized this event on Friday night. It gives us strength, power, and faith that Ukraine is not alone.”

This rally is the latest in a show of support for Ukraine. City officials have even illuminated the downtown bridges in blue and yellow, representing the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

“We need to continue fighting for peace and Ukrainian sovereignty,” Kobzar says.
