OSHKOSH, WI- (WISS) – Judge Susan Crawford met with voters in Oshkosh and Door County Saturday as she campaigns for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice. She told voters in Oshkosh that this race is supposed to be non-partisan. She emphasized she would be fair and impartial on the bench.
I am running this race because I want to protect the rights of all Wisconsinites,” Crawford said. “I don’t care if you fall on the red side of the political spectrum or the blue side of the political spectrum, I’m here fighting for all of our rights.”
Susan Crawford currently sits as a judge in the Dane County Circuit Court. She began her career as an Assistant Attorney General in Wisconsin. She worked as a prosecutor for nearly 10 years, as a private practice attorney, and has held several leadership positions in state agencies.
While the position of state Supreme Court Justice is non-partisan, Crawford is considered a liberal and has garnered the support of state Democrats. Her opponent is former Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel, who currently sits as a Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge and is considered the conservative candidate.
Crawford said he is bringing partisan politics into the race.
“My opponent in this race is somebody who is an extreme partisan and has a long history as an extreme partisan in Wisconsin. He’s bringing those kind of politics to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. That’s not what we need on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. We need impartial justice. And that’s why I’m in the race,” Crawford said.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court race will be decided by voters on the April 1st Spring ballot.
