Hall of Fame Milwaukee Brewers announcer Bob Uecker passes away at 90
"Mr. Baseball" was a baseball player, actor, and radio broadcaster who has several Hall of Fame honors.

MILWAUKEE (Civic Media) – Milwaukee Brewers Hall of Fame radio broadcaster Bob Uecker has passed away at the age of 90.
The team announced his passing Thursday morning.
Uecker had been the team’s primary radio broadcaster since 1971. The Milwaukee native is a member of several hall of fames, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Uecker was known for his humor and wit, parlaying his comedic chops into stints as an actor and roles in commercials. Those talents carried over into his radio broadcasts, which featured his trademark storytelling in addition to enthusiasm and an unmistakable passion for baseball.
In recent years, Uecker had been cutting back on the number of radio broadcasts he did as he dealt with health issues. However, he was on hand for some of the team’s biggest moments, including the playoffs.
As a player, Uecker batted .200, and his playing career was a frequent source of jokes and lightly self-deprecating humor that Uecker was known for during his calls.
In media, Uecker received the nickname “Mr. Baseball” from Johnny Carson during one of his dozens of late-night TV appearances. He also appeared in several commercials, for brands such as Miller Lite and Usinger’s Sausage, and was an actor in the TV show “Mr. Belvidere” and Major League movie series. Uecker had also hosted Saturday Night Live and Wrestlemania.
