MILWAUKEE (Civic Media) – The memories of the Milwaukee Bucks’ championship in 2020-21 are still fresh on the minds of many fans of the franchise.

After years of mediocrity, Milwaukee captured its first championship since 1970-1971 – a full 50 years in the making.

The path to the most recent Bucks championship is fairly well-known, and it centers around Milwaukee drafting an unknown international prospect from Greece named Giannis Antetokounmpo. But what about the first championship that the Bucks won over a half-century ago?

Jordan Treske, a Bucks and Packers podcast host, spent the last couple of years researching Milwaukee’s first run to the top, and found some interesting parallels, as well as some of the key differences due to the era that each championship happened in.

Treske appeared on Civic Media stations to talk about his book, Building the Milwaukee Bucks: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson and the Rapid Rise of an NBA Franchise, 1968-1975, and what inspired him to write about the rapid transformation of a franchise in a highly volatile era in NBA history.

Building the Milwaukee Bucks is available for pre-order and will be released on or before May 23. Listen to the interview below:
